At the power level that you’re looking for, the car will be very reliable. Keeping torque low helps. Biggest thing is just keeping up with maintenance. Hey man, hey man great video summarising the setup. I was curious how you went with the 550 horsepower kit but are running some of the lesser options. Did you notice your temps change much at all? Since adding it on? I was really keen for E85 mainly due to the engine running cooler. More so than the extra power. I was going to go to the 500 kit and hold off for E85 down the track. What made you go the smaller pulley for your '91 setup?
Thanks man! I went with the 550hp kit because I knew that eventually I would switch over to flex fuel and I didn’t want to have change pulleys for that! You can still run the 550hp kit with pump gas, it obviously just won’t make 550. But with this kit, you’ll have a little extra boost and will likely be around 510whp+! Temps have been normal, they do rise quicker after doing pulls and when sitting in standstill traffic on a hot day. I would recommend the CSF radiator if you live somewhere with higher temps during the summer.
@@Niishmo awesome thanks man. Yeah and good point on that! That's why I wanted to do some upgrading first because the cars already getting a fix and tune done, so I thought why not run E85 first. This is a major catastrophic failure?? That was metal on metal and to your point could have really destroyed major components inside. Z1 should do a total recall for anybody that has that original pulley, I guarantee that original pulley would fail again. It looks small and poorly reinforced where the bearing is. The replacement pulley makes a huge huge difference.
I don’t disagree, I got lucky that this happened while the car was stopped and idling. Had this happened mid pull, the damage would have been greater. Either way, I appreciate Z1 owning up to the failure and not trying to pin in back on me like some companies will try and do.

Thanks! Definitely a good idea to knock out supporting mods first, that’s what I did. I have a Z1 unsprung full face clutch with their mid weight flywheel and then the Zspeed CMAK.
TopGunz had a very long turnaround time, looking at 6+ months. I also liked the idea of having a physical limitation (pulley) on boost rather than a waste gate. Eliminates any worry for boost creep. Also I have a friend with the TGZ kit and he had to do some cutting to fit the blower as well as charge piping.
z1 kit has the bov on the cold side meaning hot air is still going through the intercooler when it doesn't need to the tgz kit has the bov/wastegate on the hot side so it vents hot air.

You do get some flutter sound on the highway, you are able to run a recirculating BOV on the Z1 kit. You just need to let them know before placing an order I believe
How many hours would you say your same setup is? I’m trying to ask a friend who does work if he can do the install. Remote tune by z1? I have an AT but not an issue for the low torque.
I would highly recommend getting one, your oil will heat up fairly quickly when doing pulls. I have a 32 row cooler, if you live in colder climate then you can look into something smaller like a 19 or 25 row
Yes, you’ll need a tune. When you buy the kit, you can buy a tune from Z1 but I opted to tune with a different tuner so I didn’t choose their tune package. If you go with a different tuner that isn’t local like in my case, you pretty much just need to reach out for a base map once the install is done and then proceed with the tuning process after you’ve verified you have no issues with the install.

What kind on numbers can you squeeze out on 93 octane? looking for mid to high 500s to the wheel and hopefully close to 400 lb-ft torque is my goal which I assume is right about where I would be with full exhaust etc?
On 93 you’ll probably be around 530, maybe 540. I made 515 and 370tq on 91. This is assuming you do the 90mm pulley, not sure how much more you could make on the 80mm pulley
@@Niishmo usually stick to the twisty backroads and mountains if possible anyway so that will be more than enough to get me in trouble..... That extra little gap insurance never hurt though😂
Hey man what radiator do you have I was looking at this kit and seen that soho has a A2A ver so i thought it was needed to change the radiator just like the Z1
I think you’re referring to the intercooler, yes with any forced induction kit you’re going to need an intercooler but they should all just bolt right up. My cooling system on my car is all stock still, radiator, fans, etc.
I will be doing a full mod list video here soon but as far as other performance mods I have motordyne art pipes, fast intentions catback, and a Z1 diff brace. Slotted rotors, SS brake lines, etc. A few interior pieces such as the workshop 12 head unit, custom carbon fiber steering wheel, and a few other things.
Stuck between this kit or turbo .... I want to be able to daily it still while being pretty fast, enough to smoke scat packs and keep up with some stock bmws and what not
With a supercharged setup on 91, you’ll smoke scat packs and a few other cars. On E85 you can line up against some pretty fast cars and be pretty close or win. The SC is perfect for something you still want to daily, I drive mine to work often and I am on E85 making close to 600whp lol
@@sirspeedsalot the gas mileage, I get 13mpg on a good day 😂 smiles per gallon though! I am also running flex fuel so sometimes I’ll fill up with 91 when I know I’m going to be driving the car a lot
You could probably make it work, but it would require a few custom things. Charge piping will likely not fit the same and intercooler will probably not have enough clearance behind the bumper.
@@Niishmo ah ok cool. thanks. So from a technical perspective, yes it should work because it's the same drivetrain, just spacially needs some modification?
I had to upgrade my clutch/flywheel as well as install a CSC delete kit. Did some maintenance stuff like gallery gaskets and some gauges for boost, AFR, and oil pressure.
The stillen kit is honestly not worth it in my opinion, the W2A system it uses is very inefficient and doesn’t make good power. But yeah I mean with you being in CA I guess there is no other option
@@Niishmo I think SOHO offers upgrades to those kits he could possibly sneak in there to increase efficiency - otherwise - I would just get out of communist CA if it were me!!
You can do it for cheaper if you buy stuff used and don’t buy all supporting mods but any way you do it, it’s going to be expensive and you will loose money on the car if you ever decide to sell. This has always been a dream car of mine and it is one I plan to have for a very long time, so I was willing to spend the money
I think they had developed or found this pulley weeks ago and included it with the newer kits, I bought one of the first kits so I got most of the original stuff

Yeah I’ve been following your build for a while now and it’s crazy to see how many issues you’ve had. Z1 seems to have figured out a few more things now, but I know with the very first kits they were having issues with the main pulleys also. Kit has been solid for me though besides this tensioner pulley issue. I’m switching to E here soon and having admin re-tune it, we’ll see if the kit holds up to more power.
@@issaslowzyeah I think the kit isn’t even a year old at this point, crazy to think that you waited that long for your SOHO kit though. Hopefully you don’t run into more issues once they send those revised parts out
You can’t adjust boost with this supercharger kit, so I just have a performance map that is more aggressive and an economy map that is more suited for daily driving. But the car technically always has 11psi available to use. I will be swapping to a smaller pulley soon so that I can push up to 14psi.
This is all based on my experience...Nitto 555rs 305s on rear will support a dig if camber is adjusted accordingly based on your shocks, spl arm, springs etc., as your car will squat and camber will change, if you dont get that sorted you'll eat up the inside of these tires in no time..also torque needs to be tuned appropriately througout the hp curve or its easy to blow the rear tires off the Z. The Nitto 555r2's are good for about 6 months if racing from a dig ..after that it is slip and slide time for 6 months from a dig through 3rd gear but there should still be enough tread to slam from a roll..will need to replace the rears approximately every 12 to 14 months, unfortunately in my experience. :( You can get G2s on front to match the rear treads. Be prepared to drive 20mph in consistent rain however as the racing compound on the nitto street slicks get ...slippery... well lets just say you need to take your time and move to the far right hand lane 😂 enjoy!

It’s actually a titanium piece made by @mazterpiece_automotive, checkout his IG.
@@Niishmo That and the overflow tank are worth $10k alone vs my yellow stock one!!!
Would you still choose this kit over a Stillen supercharger?
100%, Stillen A2W kit is not good. If you do the A2A upgrade then it is much better.
sick car thinking of doing the same to mine at the end of the year. does the kit make any of the weird flutter sounds when cruising at certain speeds if you know what I mean? watched one video of the top gun kit and it sounded like the Jetsons car 😂
No flutter but you will hear the blower whine slightly at certain speeds
@@Niishmo Glad to hear that was a little hesitant to pull the trigger but I think I'm sold at this point!
@@Niishmo ya thats what i meant I literally said intercooler outloud n still typed radiator but thanks man
とても素敵な車に仕上がっていますね!
僕も同じz 34に乗っていますので見習せていただきます。
Basically the new pulley has a serviceable bearing
does this kit have any problems with belt slippage
I haven’t had any belt slip yet
What other mods besides the supercharge kit have you done?
I will be doing a full mod list video here soon but as far as other performance mods I have motordyne art pipes, fast intentions catback, and a Z1 diff brace. Slotted rotors, SS brake lines, etc. A few interior pieces such as the workshop 12 head unit, custom carbon fiber steering wheel, and a few other things.
Ah THAT pulley? Mine was in the front. No other issues though. Can’t lie this kit is addicting for sure
Oh damn! Hopefully mine doesn’t give me issues in the front later on
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stuck between this kit or turbo .... I want to be able to daily it still while being pretty fast, enough to smoke scat packs and keep up with some stock bmws and what not
With a supercharged setup on 91, you’ll smoke scat packs and a few other cars. On E85 you can line up against some pretty fast cars and be pretty close or win. The SC is perfect for something you still want to daily, I drive mine to work often and I am on E85 making close to 600whp lol
@@Niishmo any downsides to the e85?
@@sirspeedsalot the gas mileage, I get 13mpg on a good day 😂 smiles per gallon though! I am also running flex fuel so sometimes I’ll fill up with 91 when I know I’m going to be driving the car a lot
@@Niishmo my 370z is stock ,only have cold air intake and I get 13.9 mpg average. But I do have bad oxygen sensors I don't know if that is causing it
@@Niishmo thanks for the replies bro , earned a subscriber
Stupid Question, but is this kit technically viable for the 3.7 Q50?
You could probably make it work, but it would require a few custom things. Charge piping will likely not fit the same and intercooler will probably not have enough clearance behind the bumper.
@@Niishmo ah ok cool. thanks.
So from a technical perspective, yes it should work because it's the same drivetrain, just spacially needs some modification?
What else did you do to your car to install the sc?
I had to upgrade my clutch/flywheel as well as install a CSC delete kit. Did some maintenance stuff like gallery gaskets and some gauges for boost, AFR, and oil pressure.
This is a cool kit but I’d have to go with a stillen kit since it’s CA smog legal. I wish I could get a Z1 kit but it is what it is.
The stillen kit is honestly not worth it in my opinion, the W2A system it uses is very inefficient and doesn’t make good power. But yeah I mean with you being in CA I guess there is no other option
@@Niishmo I think SOHO offers upgrades to those kits he could possibly sneak in there to increase efficiency - otherwise - I would just get out of communist CA if it were me!!
hi, is the 370z nismo engine stonger than a regular 370z ?
It is the same motor found in all 370Z’s
bro but for 600 hp pulley bro the kit is almost 12 thousand dollars bro thats almost 2/3rds of what the car costs bro
You can do it for cheaper if you buy stuff used and don’t buy all supporting mods but any way you do it, it’s going to be expensive and you will loose money on the car if you ever decide to sell. This has always been a dream car of mine and it is one I plan to have for a very long time, so I was willing to spend the money
how much was your kit, cost wise??
I bought mine in December when Z1 was having their Christmas sale, paid $6723 for my tuner kit.
Weird z1 said you need no cut
Kit definitely requires cutting to fit blower and charge piping, not sure why they would say no cutting needed
Are those the stock rear wheels?
No, it’s a custom drag pack. Basically took inspiration from the OEM V1 wheel and had a company make me a custom 17” beadlock pair
@@Niishmo oh, that's awesome, looks really good
What kind of stereo is that?
It is a Tesla Style head unit from Workshop 12
Whats that front fender
I have OEM fenders?
did they go off and research a better version and fabricate it to you in a few days? >.>
I think they had developed or found this pulley weeks ago and included it with the newer kits, I bought one of the first kits so I got most of the original stuff
What’s crazy is all these guys with new supercharger kits can’t make a reliable kit
Z1
Stillen
Rotex seems to be the only one that’s reliable right now.
@@Niishmo good to hear! And I would of got the Z1 kit but it wasn’t even Announced yet when I ordered my kit
@@issaslowzyeah I think the kit isn’t even a year old at this point, crazy to think that you waited that long for your SOHO kit though. Hopefully you don’t run into more issues once they send those revised parts out
Hey man got instagram got some questions about this kit
Yeah man I actually put it in the description of every video. But it’s @ish.z34
Adjustable boost?
You can’t adjust boost with this supercharger kit, so I just have a performance map that is more aggressive and an economy map that is more suited for daily driving. But the car technically always has 11psi available to use.
I will be swapping to a smaller pulley soon so that I can push up to 14psi.
@@Niishmo have you had any issues with grip? If so what tires have you found work best?
How many miles on you car bro?
It is sitting at 74k miles right now, boosted it at 65k
@@Niishmo thanks! Looking at picking one up 2014 with 70k~

Does this kit replace your intakes ?
Yes
everytime you usually boost with a supercharger it replaced intakes
if I had a Z I would
Not for q50 im guessing😪
Not yet unfortunately, maybe eventually they’ll release a kit for the 3.7 Q50
@@Niishmothey do have kits for the 3.7 q50
I rather stay N.A. full bolt ons to avoid any boost problems
N.A. full bolt ons is still super slow . Forced induction is the way to go .. unless you don't care about going fast , Im addicted to speed so I will be supercharging my Z soon .
@@sirspeedsalot yeah I wouldn’t race personally but a boosted Z is really cool.
@@Axe_z33 I don't necessarily race , but when I'm on a nice empty road late at night I do love to do a few pulls . One day maybe I'll be able to go to a real track.
Both have their ups and downs I think but I will say the VQ37 handles boost very well. Just have to stay on top of your maintenance
@@Niishmo yeah as long as you aren’t flooring it completely I would say
Everything z1 sucks even their customer service
Well for a forced induction kit that almost has 5000 miles on it with only ever running into one issue, I wouldn’t say everything they make sucks. Everytime I’ve reached out to Z1, they’ve answered quickly and helped out. Most people just won’t take the time to pick up the phone and reach out.
I have never had any issues with them - Do you have any real world experience or is it one guy on the forums that went off about something?
Z1 products have been nothing short of incredible for me and their customer service has been on point. You sound like a sour ass that flames a company for one little issue
May I ask you my friend, can you beat those new pesky audi TTS? The new BMW Supras with bolt ons? And the New current nismo Z with bolt ons?? I want you to smoke them real bad.
I have raced a bolt on Supra and a new Z, beat them both. I think I would have a hard time beating a TTRS though, I plan to turn up the boost soon though! Might have a better chance
Could you do some 0 to 62 and 60 to 120 videos please?
I will be getting a draggy soon, so I can try it. But it’ll have to wait until it’s cooler out, currently 110+ outside for most of the day 😅
