LOUD Shelby GT350 Screaming Through the Canyons

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 15 มิ.ย. 2024
- Our friend Dave Tous and his Shelby GT350 are back on the channel and better than ever. Dave had some issues with the 363 that was in there so he went to a high compression 302 that revs to 8,000 rpm's and it's running and sounding better that ever before so sit back and enjoy the ride...

To car manufacturers and some high end builders: THIS is Hot Rodding! No need for 1,000+hp and bunch of turbos. THIS is real!! I need 30 minutes of driving and no talking. Music and enjoyment. Thank you sir for building this amazing Stang.
Totally agree with you!
Guys who don’t know how to drive or only want to own a car to show off can’t understand how fun a naturally aspirated little sport car really is. People only care about numbers, not the actual experience of driving. I would much rather drive an rx2 with around 100 horsepower than a modern turbo’d 1000hp car all these people lust over these days. These carbuerated stangs can really only hope for around 400hp NA with an upgrade block and every possible race upgrade to the motor, and they are still way more simple and fun than a hellcat or a Supra.
Then there’s also how much power is actually usable… if you’re breaking traction in every gear and giving 1/10th of the throttle needed to go everywhere, it’s not as fun of a driving experience as a car with power bands, that you can wind out and go through the gears in to make fast. Straight line racing is over rated. I want a canyon carver.
@@AutotopiaLA sounds awesome. Funny when I pictured canyons in the description, I pictured New Zealand tight roads.-These are almost superhighways where I come from.!
@@AutotopiaLA….. here you would probably love it 50 corners a mile probably in some places 100 gear changes every 10 minutes LOL
Jay Leno talks about that all the time. When a car is set up right with the right power and weight balance, it's more fun to drive than something with too much power.
That exhaust note is an angry, orchestral cacophony of barely restrained violence. Love it.
An unknown secret , 289 s love two and a quarter exhaust . Bigger is NOT always better .
@@marcchaffee7751 until get up over 450..its gonna want 2.5...
wonders of X pipes
Cyberdoc, perfect way to state it!!
What mufflers are on it? Sounds beautiful
I REALLY like this man's attitude, and how the car clearly looks like he drives the absolute snot out of it. Props to him for actually enjoying his car!
He definitely enjoys and drives it hard. He’s just the coolest imo
@@AutotopiaLA Amen to that, man! I aspire to one day have my own version of my dream car, and essentially be pretty much like him with it lol. It's very refreshing to see a super cool and fun car being properly driven and enjoyed as it should be. 😎
P. S. - I know you've heard it 1000 times, but yes, that thing sounds MEAN as hell. I absolutely love the exotic high-revving sound coming out of a car that looks like that. Awesome build, and great vid. 🤙
This car is like a Big Gulp ,WOW !!!
Back when my father in law had '66 GT 350H (automatic) a daily ummm driver .
At a Mustang Anniversary Car Show he's got it displayed, some lady walks up looks comments "It's filthy..blah blah blah" in disgust. Thinking to myself wonder what she drives. Saw her later parading putt putt along in pristine 65 GT 350 trailered garage queen . Bet that ain't "A Grocery Getter" 🤣
@@WineFi Yeah, like the classic old saying, different strokes for different folks! I don’t think she needed to come up to you and make fun of you because your car was dirty and what not. But either way, we all know that she’s not REALLY enjoying her car. I’m not saying you need to beat the living hell out of it. But at least drive it! Take it on a spirited back road drive or a road trip every once in a while! To her, that’s just a show car. Oh well!
Nothing like a pissed off small block Ford from the 1960's...Pure music.
Sweet music for sure
Is this a 289 stock mustang motor that's has vicious cam etc in it , thank you
The sound of this car actually gave me chills! What a build and I’m so glad it’s built to be driven HARD. Carroll would be incredibly proud!
I agree👌🏾
Carroll would only want to rip you off if he was involved.
not original engine and gearboix for sure..
looks like a ZZTOp car.
Being a classic car fan, the mustang is impeccable and sounds great! For a 302 small block, the sound it makes is awesome! Sounds like a racecar.
Racecar for sure. That sound is special
Shawn, LOVE the videos... especially Dave's car... sooo kool!
@@AutotopiaLA hi
Not even a 302. It’s a modified 289
@AutotopiaLA what brand or name of the muffler he uses on this car
I am 76 years young, if I owned this car, I know that I would be getting Tickets often as I Love the Sound of going through the Gears in a Muscle Car. The Birth of this Mustang was my Era...
This reminds me of my first true build I ever did in 1976. I started with a 1965 Mustang coupe. Paid $400.00 for the car. 289 4sp. Took an article from Hot Rod magazine on a strip/street 289 build to my local engine builder and said built that exact motor. HR claimed the motor as built would produce 425hp+- on premium fuel. Had the T&C top loader completely rebuilt and upgraded the clutch and shifter. Added a 9" with 4.11 gears. Pistons were 12.5/1 comp, roller cam, Holley 750cfm dbl pump on an Edlebrock hi-rise. Gutted everything I could out of the car to save weight. Added a roll bar, upgraded the brakes and suspinsion. Painted it Candy Apple Red. Only got one ticket over the next two years. Best 1/4 time slip was around 11.8 on Super Stock M50/15's smoking the tires the whole way. The car looked great and sounded better. So much fun to drive. Actually met my future wife at the drag strip while racing it one weekend in 1976. Still have the wife. Car is long gone but what great memories. I put my headphones on and listened to Daves car pulling gears, close my eyes and am transported back in time. THANK YOU
Carroll Shelby would be proud... love the original look, rough, and road ready....straight up street machine. car is badass, not a ford guy either.. but this exact combo is perfect. this is what people fell in love with back in the day
I’m gm all the way but a pure raw old vehicle of any kind Is heavenly unlike these new cars that have no soul
The idea that this car is driven for fun and not to be pampered in anyway is the best......I wish there were more cars out there like this one.....this car wants to be driven hard......what a gem!
If every old school GT350 driver was like Dave the world would be a better place! Nice job building that wicked car!
There have been some amazing cars on this channel over the years. This is hands down my favorite one. The guy is just enjoying this machine. I love what he does with it. This car deserves to be driven this way. There are enough restored garage queens out there already.
Easily the best sounding car you’ve shared with us, I appreciate both of you
I agree
@@AutotopiaLA NO........the old Camaro with the NASCAR motor gave me far more chills!!!
@mjb2093 that camaro sounded amazing too but this mustang just hit different an I love it
Small block 302 absolute gnarly sounding classic mustang 🤙😎
What can you say but this is a real muscle car. Little beat up, old carpet and a sound that can't be beat by cars 10 times more expensive. Outstanding work!!!
could imagine living next to this guy. there goes dave goin' for coffee at 2 in the morning....everyone's awake.
lol!
It’s got me smiling and I’m not even driving the car 😂
Dude. I wanna know how much it is to build that.
@@Jay-rq8wb the whole car or engine?
I absolutely love this car and the cool drive it like you stole it owner. I've got a 65 fastback 302, top loader and 9". If I can get it to sound like that it would be perfect. I'm curious about the solid roller cam and lifters. What brand and does it require any mods to the block or heads other than the obvious beefed up valve train?
It's surprising how some videos bring me such deep feelings.
Sounds, for me, access very important memories and sensations.
At a time in my life that despite not actually being depressed, it was one of the worst times mentally speaking. A lot of mental confusion, a lot of doubts, a lot of feelings, I literally couldn't stop thinking. I spent 3 or 4 days without being able to sleep more than 2 hours at a time, just thinking.
A neighbor friend of mine who has 2 houses had left his recently purchased M3 E36 in the city to do small restorations. He asked me to start the car periodically, so as not to have any more problems with the battery draining.
When I was alone with the car, which had a completely non-original and extremely noisy exhaust and I started it for the first time, I accelerated it after it warmed up and went out to drive it alone, that sound it made when I accelerated was the only thing that made my thoughts disappear. . For a few moments with him standing or walking was the only time of the day that I could not think about anything.
This moment was important for my healing.
I never felt that way again, and today I have many tools to ward off possible anxiety, and taking time to appreciate cars that I like is one of them.
This Mustang reminded me of that feeling. This loud aggressive roar, this sound of gears turning and making a sonorous evolution, this relief when changing gears and the "hiccups" it makes... it's pure therapy.
Thank you for providing this to me!
Sound therapy is so real.. I don't have any problems anxiety related but still after I finish work the only thing that gaves me back my energy and relaxes me is the sound of my car.. I have a 2014 Shelby GT500 with a Borla system, when I hear that engine starting the whole world fades away with all it's problems , is just me and the car.. It is something unique .. If you've seen the movie Le Mans 66' when Ford won against Ferrari (or if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it) it is a scene at the end of the movie where Caroll Shelby gets emotional and has tears in his eyes after he talked with Ken son, and then he gets in his car takes the heart pills out of his pocket because he had a heart condition since birth and takes one pill but he still cannot control himself then starts the car and closes his eyes when the engine starts and that's what calms him down in an instant .. that's the true passion going deep to an emotional level that very few can feel and understand..
@@edygk20kstm64 it's real! Not only with engine sound, of course! Personally, music that I like have similar results! For me is essencial to have a good music to play and listen.
Amazing car you have with a amazing exhaust! Congrats! I like very much Borla sound! Is awesome that some metal pipes for many manufacturers show us a lot different sounds and vibrations than original.
And yes, I saw the movie! One of the greatest movies with the theme! For sure this scene you describe is one of the bests! I think is the same way that I fell when I describe my personal experience! Another scene for me is when Ford is in the car and go for a ride, my God I almost get emocional before him! 😆 All scene is perfect, the cameras, the sound, the actuation, they really transmitted the emotions!
Always love an owner who encourages the guest driver to give it heaps. Made my Easter monday. Sydney, Australia, 5.0 Windsor, 5 spd Tremec, LSD, IRS, in an Aussie built Ford Falcon.
Sounds like a badass Falcon you’ve got. This is one of my favorite cars out there
What a unique, high strung beastly sound that car makes. I love the fact he builds his cars to drive the piss out of them as intended. Whether it's all motor or boosted, small or big block, 500 or 1000 HP +, owners that truly understand how to drive their cars is a treat our senses as viewers.
Dave is awesome and I’m the same as you…love the people that build cars to drive!
@@AutotopiaLA Yeah, he seems like a cool ass dude.
By far the best car/owner duo. That car is an extension of that owners personality and character. Love that fact that he drives it like beast because thats what they are for, show cars are cool but this man his making life-long memories
The exhaust note of the last engine was beyond amazing....this engine and exhaust note is beyond words.......sooooooo cool... I could listen to his forever!
The Craig 909 f100 truck sounds like this
Actually your hearing ability stop after about 30 mins in a car like this without hearing protection, wear ear plugs because you can still enjoy the sound but you won't damage your ears
This is the way to build a classic car. I love cars like this that are not show cars and you don't mind taking it out and having fun with it. My wife's uncle has a 70' mustang with a 302 that he put a modern 5 speed in. It's nothing fancy and he daily drives it, no concern for getting it dirty.
Thanks for the ride.
I found myself shouting at the computer screen , my god that gorgeous sounding small block , that sound will be sadly missed one day .
Fuck these goose stepping, sieg heiling Nazis that want to take real cars away from us.
It already kind of is. To my ear, modern engines, including n/a V8s, sound a bit synthetic, if that makes sense.
lol why the hell are you yelling at your screen? Go do some pushups
This is by far my favorite car you have ever shot. Super cool dude and the car is freakin bad ass. If I could pick one guy to take me for a ride it would be him. It’s just a simple beast
Only thing comparable is Thecraig909's F-100. Absolute Banshees, the both of 'em. ❤
That gt 350 just sounds ........ Words can,t really describe it . Howls then screams. Stunning for sure , like it's turning 12 grand. love it for sure.
He said 8000 rpm
Never thought I’d hear a 289 sound like that… simply awesome!
Technically it's a 302 because 302's and 289's are the same block(4.00in bore) The pistons/rods/crankshaft are what separate them cubic inch wise. This guy just put a 302 rotating assembly in this block so now it's a 302.
The 289/302 sounds like this in the GT40.
Didn't he say that it's a 360? That the builders dynod other 360s and made 550 to 600hp. They're not revving high enough for the math on a 4.8l, but 5.8l at 560 to 600hp with that kind of RPM makes more sense.
@@tristankrager9789 it HAD a Dart block 363 in it before this 302 was build and put in.
That has a unique sound like no other vehicle in the planet !!! Amazing .. I love the rawness in that vehicle . Great car !!
Love the sounds this thing makes!
Most potent sounding small block I have ever heard. Thanks for sharing guys.
Since the first reveal ive been a fan. All the cars and truck on here are superb, but this mustang has to be my favorite. You can literally see the soul of that car. And the owner drives it the way the car wants it to.
Couldn’t agree more plus Dave is about the coolest person you could ever know
@@AutotopiaLA I Can tell from way he carries himself. I can see how u 2 r friends. Good people are becoming more precious by the day.
Awesome exhaust note. Can't get better than this. Late Carroll Shelby would be proud of this one. This is a proper road racer.
I grew up going to Road America in the '70s and '80s.
For my money,
This is the single best car you have reviewed!
It literally Screams Race Car!
Where's Tomy when you need him, eh?
Like you, this car brought back vivid memories of race tracks we would frequent in the late 60s early 70s.
Completely agree, grew up around road America, have a lake home close, love hearing the cars in summer. I'd love to hear this car scream around road America and the twisty roads that surround!
Really enjoyed this. Car and owner are the real deal. That little screamer sounds amazing! I have to say that your camera work is spectacular, and thank you for all of the great SoCal scenery.
This car is absolutely beautiful in every way! I love the driven "patina" on it! It sounds amazing!
Wow. White Horse = Amazing. Just the thing for the mid-winter blues. Can't wait to see the Black Horse!
The X exhaust pipe! This is the secret to beautiful sound.
Yes. H pipes kill sound. So do flowmasters lol. H pipe and flowmasters is the worst combo
there should be an ASMR video or something of the sound of this car, i almost cried listening to how intoxicating and addictive this car sounds, i own a 16 Shelby GT350 and fell in love with how it sounds and i cant drive it like a normal human because of how intoxicating and addictive it is, until i heard this, and now i feel like this is the best sounding V8 i have ever heard, i am a proper gear head and been around all sorts of muscle cars, exotics and owned quite a few of them, this single handedly took the win for me, much respect to the owner and Autopia for showing us this car
Dave and his car are just the coolest!
Haven't really seen many vids I felt the need to comment on, but this one rocks! I'm building up a first gen supercharged Mini Cooper I bought from my best friend and just hearing things like, "it's not a showcar" and seeing the wear and evidence of actually being driven really inspires me! Cars like this deserve to be featured like this, and keep the motivation up for guys like me who have a bit of an older car, and are trying their best to make it their own. It's not just about smiles per mile, rather, its personal worth to you and how you best connect with the beast you've built!
Congrats on hitting 1/2 million subs !
That gt350 sounds better than ever !
The cigarette killed me! 🤣
That was thoroughly enjoyable. I love that sound. I love Dave's attitude. This is definitely one of your best episodes! Thank you
Thanks. Daves the coolest and his car is a special ride
That is the best interior engine sound of any car I have heard...I loved Mustangs my entire life...That ford sound is like no other...
I can't stop listening. It's like heaven
You were right, this car is wicked, it's bold, it's raw, it's wild... It cannot be more Mustang than this one, it's a reference. No matter newer ones are quicker, faster, whatever, when we think about a TRUE Mustang, this is the one to remember. Man I'm glad I came back and subscribe to your Channel. Thank you to bring us this master piece of a car on YT. Cheers from Montreal, Canada.
I was grinning ear to ear watching this. This is the best sounding car in the world (to me). Thanks for sharing this so we can enjoy as well!
Thank you for this Shawn.. this is absolutely my most favorite car you've posted.. best sound ever.. both engines. Owner seems like a real cool and honest true person too
Dave is the coolest and his car is a perfect rowdy beast!
Okay Shawn, you've heard me say before that I'm not a Ford guy or a Mustang guy...HOWEVER! The Shelby cars are pretty damn cool. This happens to be my favorite Mustang to date on your channel. It's real, it's driven, it's perfect yet not perfect. Dave has a real gem here! I absolutely love this car!!!! So badass!!!
Love it! Hard to not love this car and how Dave enjoys it
That sound is envigorating.....Soooo Beautiful!!!!
Brings me back to High School and guy in town had a build 289 with a radical cam and 4 speed. Of all the cars you have reviewed this is my favorite and I’m a mopar fan.
Natural
This old dude clutch kicking 2nd gear burnouts should be an aspiration for any of us.
He's not old dude! 😂
This car is what it's all about. Something fun and genuinely drivable. The kind of car that makes you smile every time you look at it. Awesome!
Another banger of an episode!!! You guys are on point .. and the owner and car are amazing.. you guys produce better content than any movie or tv show ..
That was so sick! This is all anyone can really ask for. Superb build.
The sound of this thing gives me fucking chills. Hell yah brother! 🤙🏼
That Mustang sounds and looks amazing, never heard anything like it, it's beyond awesome !!!
This sounds insane. Probably one of my favorite videos on this channel. Kudos from Australia
The beauty of the Ford 289 firing order and the built valve train ignites a smile on my face. That sound is tuned to sooth the soul and motivate you to kick some ass! Thank you for this one, just remarkable y'all, thank you!
Nothing like that sound!
This is one of my favorite cars shot on this channel. I just love the simplicity of this build and the fact that it’s a real Shelby. Keep up the great work Shawn!
Best sounding Mustang out there…yes, I’ll be that guy, and mean every word of it!!! Right on Dave, Right On!!! 🤘🏼😎
Dave’s awesome and there’s nothing like his GT350
Absolutely my favorite car of all time. When I was a paperboy my neighbor had one brand new and I've loved it since then.
Jesus, what an absolute unit. One of the best builds I've seen for a street rod !!
Built small blocks remind me of two stroke motorcycles. Love the high RPM sound.
The sound that never gets old has to be on of the best sounding engines of all time thank you for sharing his sweet ride👍
Sounds absolutely amazing and I love how he doesn’t give a crap about the paint. It’s all about enjoying the ride! Too many people get wrapped up in perfection, this right here is what it’s all about for me.
LOVE IT, thanks guys . cant wait to see the black droptop!!!
This is by far my favorite car you’ve filmed. I’ve lost count how many times I have watched the original video.
With an engine that sounds that good, who needs a audio system.
This what cam and compression do! A distinct difference between a good motor and a God muffler sound. Nice build. I had a 11.5:1 306 huge cam long tube headers....it was only 420hp but by far my favorite foxbody for blasting around back country roads.
Holy crap that resonant sound at 6K and up is just a gorgeous harmony of automotive accomplishment. Gives me goose bumps over and over again just hearing it. I'm a GM guy but have to admit that this Ford is probably just about the best sounding V8 I've ever heard.
The best sounding car ever shown on the channel and build pure intoxication
That car is everything I want my fastback to be! That car, your guys attitudes, and love for drive are fantastic!
Sick car! Thanks for sharing, Dave! Love that it’s not perfect and you drive it
Hands down my favorite car ever, just an absolute raw example of a gt350 nothing like it
Remember the exhaust sound from that electric cobra ….me neither, this is the experience I want to have driving in the canyons, raw and visceral. This is it !!!
I love this car. This is my inspiration for my 69 camaro.
That sound brings tears to my eyes. So good.
This car is awesome. Definitely done right, sounds great. One of my favorites you have showcased.
HELL to the YES ! ! ! ! Just got home from work, grabbed a cold snack and now THIS !
Absolutely freaking phenomenal! As wonderful as the first version of this GT 350 sounded, this actually stepped it up, which truly is amazing! What a beautiful and most wonderful machine you’ve got there, my brother! True love at its finest!
Congratulations my friend, what a dreamboat !!!
He’s got such a perfect Mustang
What a stunning car. Love the look and make up of this car. It's a driver that is designed to put a smile on your face. Just enough power to have a ton of fun but not get in trouble. Thanks for doing this one. Be safe and stay well.
Same thoughts here Brian. That car is such a perfect hotrod and you just gotta love Dave’s attitude about driving it
Just love the sound and the old school build and look...no computer daily in just simple raw sound and horse power 💪😀. All the best from Denmark 🇩🇰
Just a perfect car i think. Looks awesome and sounds amazing. I love the rooster walking around. Lol😂.
Absolutely one of my favorite cars you’ve ever shot, and just in general, building a 65’ 350R clone, that I’m drawing so much inspiration from Dave’s car, I’ve got a 67’ cougar with a tunnel port 427 side oiler and a 4spd that would be good company for Dave’s car.
I raced a 283 in my 37 Chevy Coupe years ago, it revved and sounded like this. I shifted it at 7000 RPM, believe me it is all you need for pure enjoyment. I have had blown stroked Hemis etc., but that little Revver was most Fun !
One of my dream cars, I’m the same way, just drive the car and have fun! Glad to see a GT350 owner who beats on their car!
Great video as usual
Love this guy.....he's truly certifiable......thanks for giving Fords some love. Small block Fords are so neat.....been rodding them for years. You can wind a 289 or 302 until only dogs can hear them. Carroll Shelby knew what he was doing. LOL The sound of this baby sorta reminds one of a Porsche 917 at full song in a way. Shaun.....you cracked me up having the cigarette...Mustangs are better than LOVE!
1 I’m straight up loving these intros and 2 I agree best sounding mustang hands down 😍
Just amazing! This car is spetactacular! Writing here from Brazil, i`m a big fan of you Shean!
weekends must be so much fun with this, live it and feel it 1 mile at a time
This might be my favorite car you've done yet. This dude rules
Love this car. It’s Raw. Screaming power. Love it
This man has put a level of pride unknown to many when it comes to old school muscle!!! Absolutely by far of the meanest and phenomenal sounding machine! Both my Mach 1 and SVT Cobra can’t even touch the sound perfection of this! Love this mustang!!
So glad to see this car return to the channel. Such an awesome gt350 👌
Good getting to reshoot it with that new engine
Smiling,, I l love that beautiful sound and best mustang smiling
It sounds astonishing. Love it!
Now that's a car you can drive and enjoy. Great patina, no worries, just a great joyride. What a sound!
The auto world needs more people like Dave. Get those cars out there and drive them, make them your own and have fun
I hope this legend lives forever❤. Him and the car
