I consider myself a native South Dakotan. Moved here from Kansas as a boy. Have lived here since 1972. This is the best state to live in bar none. Winters can be a challenge but nothing we can't handle. There are two parts to South Dakota, and residents of either one take pride in being from that part. The Missouri River is the dividing line. Parts east are known as "East River", and those west as "West River". East being mainly farming, and Urban, I.E. flat landers, and west being mainly ranching, prairie, and mountains. I'm an East River small town South Dakotan. We all love it here.

I remember going through Mitchell and seeing the Corn Palace as a kid in 1968 or 69. Wish I could remember what the murals were at that time. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

History traveler. I'm finally taking time to say your history "trips." are awesome. No one needs to guess that you love history! I obviously do as well. I have watched all 77 Episodes. I hope this is ok, but I wanted to ask if any followers ever have asked about traveling to a specific place you haven't covered?? You might know; ? but there was a special project some years back to establish a World War II memorial in the state of Arizona. The project was called the "bookends" I know I'm not up to date on the details but the reason why it was going to be called the Bookends, was because it was going to be a display of an actual gun from the USS MO. (representing the end of WWII and a gun off the USS ARIZONA/ the beginning) I will never be able to travel there to see how they finished the display memorial type museum, but I have special interest in it; My uncle gave his life; December 7, 1941/USS ARIZONA. I would be grateful to see how they finished that. Thank you so much for your passion for history. I know you are a great history teacher. Thank you Thank you!! And God Bless you. I believe that a passion for history is also a mark of a PATRIOT.

Hi! I've been enjoying your videos over the past few days almost non stop. Very well put together and filmed... Thank you for the lessons and vacation ideas. I'd like to invite you to a gem in the Detroit area where things like the JFK assassination car, Edison's lab, homes of notable figures in history, the Ford assembly line and the Wright Brothers cycle shop can all be found among an outstanding collection of historical artifacts. Located in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village is a massive property with much to see. Thehenryford.org would be a starting point in planning a visit. I'd love to see this amazing location in your collection and hope you can consider it. I know you will find it wildly interesting. As a Detroit area native, I'm happy to welcome you to Michigan and can also provide other suggestions for visiting our beautiful state.
