Very interesting as always! So much to learn right here in America! The side saddle is interesting. Being that we have horses and ride, its interesti g to think of women in the heavy long dresses doing the same thing we do. Side saddles are now used for the disabled to be able to ride. Thank you again for another great history lesson!

It would be so cool if eventually can check out Butte, Montana- there is one of the largest copper pits in the world there but is closed and a interesting copper barons mansion and a Chinese camp or town. Very interesting. At one point in history, Butte Montana was one of the wealthiest city's in 🇺🇸 but now a crime ridden city...but the history is amazing and the old mansions that are still standing.

So interesting the history of Deadwood. I saw the series and wandered about the authenticity of the history re Deadwood and how true to life that it was portrayed in the series. Interesting artifacts at the Days of 76 Museum too, well worth a visit. As I live in Australia, cant see me getting there though so I just see it all on TH-cam instead.

More History Underground gold ! The arrow heads in buffalo bones was really interesting, It is amazing that flint tools have been around so long and that they were so effective .
I did a little looking into 2 sticks and from what i have read so far it is very interesting not only what happened to cause his execution but also what the thoughts were of the people back then towards the native Americans... pretty sad.
Anyway great video and Thank You once again for your great efforts to bring us such great content.

The Yerkes Observatory in lake Geneva Wisconsin has swastikas on the interior design. It was explained to my son and I like you said before Hitler ruined it. It was a somewhat popular symbolism.

The tobacco bag as you referred to it as, is a pipe bag. You would store your ceremonial pipe in it. Counting coup was the act of going into battle with no weapon, normally only a coup stick. To get close enough to touch an enemy in battle and to look him in the eye and not kill him, merely reach out and touch him was a fate worse then death in Lakota tradition. It was very insulting and embarrassing to your enemy.

The Black Hills are a very popular vacation trip for us folks in the upper Midwest. Alot of destinations are just too far for most middle-income families to drive. But South Dakota is a must-see for us. You might see if Keystone still has the old gold mine you can tour. It was left in 1800s condition. There are some great caves in the area too. Mount Rushmore of course, but dont miss a chance to see Crazy Horse mountain! They're still working on it 50 years after our visit! Also, since you arnt too far from it now, The Little Bighorn Battlefield is a fantastic place to visit. Very sobering. Especially Reno's redoubt. Listening to the wind blowing in the prairie grass and seeing the shallow rifle pits is an emotional event I'll never forget. And along the way there are headstones of troopers buried right where they fell. As long as you're up that way, Devil's Tower is just down the road. Loving your trip to Dakota and the work you do. Thankyou so much.

I love museums. So much to see and learn and I wonder what the stories would be if the item could speak. Counting coup is where an individual rather than killing his opponent in battle, would ride up and hit them with a coup stick. Both knew a life could have been taken but spared. Certainly a brave thing to do but as firearms became more prevalent, probably much more dangerous.
