You know what I loved most about watching this video? Can really take in all the little touches, like the bullets winding up the lift, which is near impossible to do when you're playing

3:28 - “How on Earth did you control this on Apple Arcade?” Fun thing, around the time Apple Arcade launched, iOs13 also implemented the ability to connect a bluetooth controller. So you can connect a Dualshock 4 for example.
Yes the game does appear to spawn less enemies and they seem less aggressive. But also the controls are different. You move with the left side of the screen and dodge with the right. You don’t actually aim which can be a bit frustrating when the game fires and misses with a slow firing weapon. But it’s another skill to learn, where to position yourself. Also the screen shake is bearable in game but by god, it’s nauseating in the video
I love how they didnt just reuse everything from ETG but also added cool new stuff like animations, sprites, bosses. And the level desing looks sick. I just cant imagine how you play this on a phone.

The compression "protocol" (RAR, zip) itself was free, but you paid for or pirated a pretty GUI program that made it easier for most people to use (WinRAR, Winzip). (My memory's not 100% clear because I always used command-line tools that didn't require purchase.)

This looks insanely hard. Dodging seems like a nightmare. In Enter the Gungeon at least you can run and weave but in this one there's so much stuff going on in one small space I'd lose my mind as I try to get better. Hats off to you, I'd love to see you play more.
On IPhone by default the controls auto-aim and shoot so you only do the movement. It does a lot of puns that you're controlling it with your "mind." There were some dumb puns in the tutorial you played on stream that didn't make sense because that wasn't a mechanic.
This actually looks preposterously difficult. Like, there’s visual clutter obviously which I find hard to read but even beyond that the gameplay itself just looks like a legitimate bullet hell but with platforming mechanics added to make everything harder to keep track of
Still to this day, I haven't gotten even close to beating the first game. My best run was up to the fourth floor, on the fluke I had the gun made from a spacehip engine (can't remember its name), which tore through everything I pointed it at. I was so proud of myself to have gotten that far I didn't even care when I died. Now I've got this to think about beating, haha Well, better get to it. After finishing watching this, of course.
As a fledgling designer myself (board/card) it is interesting to see that the enemies from the first Gungeon seemed to have not changed in their assets, but the change in dimension alters the interactions drastically

I'm pretty sure the idea is that he does a northernlion tries, and if he likes it then he does a series. That's how stoneshard worked. Also, I don't think exit the gungeon has enough content to make that long of a series.
I had to refund.... It's really just not like gungeon at all. Gungeon felt like everything was in your control. It was still hard as balls, but when you died it always felt like it was your fault. This game just feels random and clunky. The blessed gun style is fun for a couple runs in gungeon, but there's a reason they didn't make it the main game mode. It takes another aspect of the game out of your control. On top of that, I experienced at least 4 unique bugs, one of which straight up just didn't let my game continue, within the first half hour of playing. Just doesn't feel polished enough.
mkatapodis2 I can kinda see why, tbh. Enter is a top-down-shooter and exit is a “platformer” with guns. My guess is that people, like myself, absolutely fell in love with the fluid gameplay in Enter and were pretty damn disappointed with the huge 180° that Exit took. I don’t even think I’ll try Exit if it goes on sale. No smoke to anyone who likes the game tho.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I got the game as soon as it releases on Switch and while I certainly don't hate it, I just prefer normal Gungeon. I get this is supposed to be like a different game and all, I just don't think I can really get down with what it's putting out. That said, I definitely enjoy watching the game a lot more.

NL, I am so genuinely interested in figuring out how to get better at these games. Watching you, I've internalized most of the items from Isaac, I know a lot of the patterns. I know it's going to take play time to get the motor skills but there's one thing I've never really understood; where the heck do you look? I have no idea if I need to be watching enemies or myself more. Have you ever considered doing an episode or two with eye trackers? I'd be so interested to see where over 1500 episodes of Isaac gets your eye motion to focus on.
I've only got 364 hours in Isaac (plus 150 in the original game), so I'm no pro, but in my experience the answer is Both. Some enemies, like most bosses, movement is the most critical thing. So watching the area around yourself (specifically the shadows, which are the hit-boxes) and letting your peripheral vision telling you what's incoming. Sometimes dodging just isn't much of a factor, like the spiders on the wall, so you can focus on the enemy to tell you how to move in order to hit it. In general, it's actually most important to be looking at the incoming tears rather than focusing on yourself or your enemy. That way you can maneuver between them.

On one hand, I heard it’s more like a traditional bullet hell, where the bullet patterns are very learnable.

Its obviously simpler for tablet use, you can't tell me it wouldn't be possible to balance a selection of guns, even if we were provided less per run.

This very much is a ported mobile game. Cool for a spin off but a downgrade from enter. People seem to think it’s a direct sequel on steam
