The recently launched all-new Toyota bZ4X SUV is now available in Australian showrooms. This marks Toyota's inaugural Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), featuring a dedicated BEV platform, cutting-edge motor generator and battery technology, as well as state-of-the-art safety and connected features.
In Australia, the bZ4X stands out as Toyota's pioneer model utilizing the newly introduced Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)-dedicated e-TNGA platform. This innovative platform, specifically designed for a fresh lineup of electric vehicles, seamlessly incorporates the battery and motor generator into the vehicle's structure. This integration enhances structural rigidity and lowers the center of gravity, contributing to a more stable driving experience.
By adopting this approach, the wheels can be positioned further towards the front and rear, maximizing interior space for passengers within the vehicle's footprint. Moreover, the platform offers the flexibility of both front and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the latter delivering exceptional off-road capability, setting a benchmark among all-electric SUVs.
The FWD bZ4X is priced from $66,000 with the AWD bZ4X available from $74,900.
The front-wheel-drive (FWD) bZ4X boasts a range of features, including poly-ellipsoidal LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors with auto power folding, power tailgate, and privacy glass for rear side, quarter, and back windows. Inside, the vehicle offers a blend of fabric and SofTex®3 (synthetic leather) trim, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, heated front seats, a leather-accented steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, smart entry and start, along with four cupholders and eight bottle holders.
The advanced Toyota multimedia system, featured on a 12.3-inch touchscreen, supports wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto™5. Enhanced voice recognition, activated by the "Hey, Toyota" command, allows control over functions like "Open all windows." The multimedia suite integrates seamlessly with Toyota Connected Services, including a 12-month complimentary period for the myToyota Connect smartphone app6, offering features like charge station locators and charge management functionality.
Over-the-air updates, cloud navigation, and live traffic information are included. The bZ4X prioritizes safety with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite, incorporating technologies like pre-collision safety systems, emergency steering assist, lane trace assist, road-sign assist, parking support brake, active cruise control, and seven SRS airbags.
The all-wheel-drive (AWD) bZ4X elevates standards with additional features such as a roof spoiler, fixed panoramic roof, roof rails, and a gloss black bonnet accent. The AWD interiors boast a JBL premium sound system, Premium SofTex seat trim, Qi-compatible 10W wireless charger8, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory function, and a kick sensor for the power tailgate.
AWD safety enhancements include a driver monitor, blind-spot monitor, safe exit assist, intelligent parking assist, and panoramic view monitor. The AWD's 212mm ground clearance and all-wheel drivetrain leverage X-Mode off-road drive modes for benchmark off-road ability among BEV SUVs.
The FWD model features a front-mounted e-Axle, producing outputs of up to 150kW and 266Nm. The AWD model uses front and rear 80kW e-Axles with maximum combined outputs of 160kW and 337Nm. Both models are powered by a rigorously tested 71.4kWh lithium-ion battery, providing FWD with a driving range of 535km10 and AWD with 485km11.
The bZ4X is offered in six exterior colors, with a two-tone treatment available for the AWD. It is covered by Toyota Warranty Advantage, providing up to five-year unlimited kilometer coverage, extending to seven years on motor and driveline with log-book services. Capped-price servicing is offered for the first five years/75,000km, with each 12-month/15,000km service costing $180.
