    A+ content as always! Also, a video in depth on reset-flicks would be awesome, I imagine it to be competitively powerful to turn most basic air dribbles into a 110kph musty or reverse-45 anywhere in the net. Instantly dodging works really good close to net but with reset→airdrag you can start from your own corner and still create an undefendable shot or at minimum a clear that leaves 1 or 2 opponents on the wrong side of the field

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh snap! Yeah I've seen this emerge in 1s in the last year or so. Zen keeps getting those insane 100kph+ ones, or even a full field carry too. Only player I really see do Musty's in 3s consistently is Joyo though.
      I'll have to practice that because my musty flicks are pretty tame at the moment. Gonna keep grinding my mechs and get to a point where I can extend my range 😄

      Oh hell yeah, that's awesome you're seeing that. A little trick of the trade that I hadn't really seen people talk about.

  • @ToriKo_
    @ToriKo_ ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Loved the vid. Although I can’t integrate the pc parts of this training, the shot set ups look really nice and I want to give them a go. I can only get resets in FP like 10% of the time I go for them, but I’m so bad at them that I don’t even try to go for them most of the time.
    You could really see how all the pieces of your recent videos came together to support this one, and that’s cool to see. My only subjective criticisms would’ve been that I would’ve loved to seen u talk about the difference between boosting, accelerating, and doing nothing while grabbing the reset. And the effects that has on car control, ball control, and reset control. I also heard a tip (from SpookLuke i think) that getting a reset is not about getting your wheels on the ball, but about getting the back half of your car (center of Gravity and back wheels) flat on the hall. That was a bit of instant improvement, especially cos I use the breakout.
    Tho, maybe these criticisms are focused on a level a bit too basic that the one your trying to target, and that’s completely fair. My main point is that this was a good vid

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm not sure if there is an effect with accelerating, reversing etc. At least, I've tried testing it with free play checkpoint, and I can't see a difference. I'm sure HalfwayDead (Rocket Science) would know though. He did also say that all that matters is the wheels for a reset.
      What helped me the most was getting a feel for which angles got more consistent flip resets. The straight and most common set up has a really low hit rate for me, unless you get the reset at the apex of trajectory. So it's basically useless as a finishing move. It's moreso used as a set up for multiple flip resets or musty flicks.
      I try not to get to analytical with complex techniques. It's something I learned from The Inner Game of Tennis, which is trusting your training and your body to make the moves for you. And that's a largely subconscious action, hence the "feel" aspect of it, rather than breaking up the flip reset into little bits. The more it becomes conscious and top of mind, the more you overthink, tighten up, and get in the way of yourself... this also lines up with research on flow states.
      Anyway, I really appreciate the discussion! Thank you for the kind words.

    I really appreciate all these training focused videos Kev! But I gotta be honest, most of us playing don't have the time to dedicate hours to practicing, especially 60-75 min on one mechanic, or doing packs with 50 shots in it. I'd love to see an 80/20 version of you aerial focused trainings, that's more realistic for the average player who only has limited gaming time after their job/school.

      @@Kevpert I think if you came up with a 20 min improvement routine for the "average joe" player that would be cool. basically take the most efficient drills and just do that. like for aerial car control I imagine rings with constant boost and air roll would be the right choice for me (c3/gc1), like that plus taking the best few shots from your 50-shot packs, and making a 10 shot pack.

    Hi Kevpert
    I have a question, I know some people like to hold normal air roll whilst getting the reset to help prevent recoil. Is this something you do? And is this something you deem to be essential to do during resets? Also what are your thoughts on holding the brake as you get the reset, I believe some pros hold brake.
    Thanks and dont stop the uploads!

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, well I don't know about that. I do hold brake or at the very least, don't drive when I get resets. But that's due to having air roll left on L2 (like Zen). I can't say definitively if it makes a difference or not.

  • @MJBYT87

    thanks man, excellent video. Would you say directional air roll is intrinsic to executing on a lot of these shots?

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, I wouldn't say so. Itachi is an example of an extremely mechanical pro that I believe uses normal air roll. But for the most part, directional air roll is key for tornado spins right before the reset.
