    I can’t recommend the Ganer method enough. I started a week ago per Kevpert’s recommendation (on hoops maps instead). The first day it took me literally 300 deaths to get to level 3, a week later I can get to around 10 in 20-30 deaths. It’ll be frustrating at first, but it forces you to learn every input in every orientation. I’ve seen more improvement in one week than I have in the 3 months I’ve been trying to incorporate ARL.

      At what level should one begin grinding this? Im champ 1, but i use very little air roll left in games, i can complete rings maps with continious air roll left, but im mostly just tornado spinning. Just curious if i should send it now or keep working more basic training methods. Thanks!

    Kevpert what would you recommend for a player that has more than 1 hours to train his mechanics ? Is it even logical for a player to train his mechanics for 3-4 hours and if yes what would a training plan look like ? Edit: Day 1: 13 Seconds

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey KaiZen! I think 90-120 minutes for training is pretty solid, it's what some pros do.
      Really, aerial training is going to pay off the most (that's where the game is trending), but you need a little room for fundamentals too.

  • @DrMarmalader
    @DrMarmalader ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is tangential but I really wanted to learn power mustys/ flip cancel mustys the past month. I experimented with unlimited flips and I found that to be the quickest way to isolate the mechanic. I ended up improving much quicker this way than any method before. It eliminates the speed requirement for adjusting your car so that you can slowly practice and develop the speed over time. I gradually added layers such as limited boost, resetting off the ball and resetting off the ceiling.

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great tip - I'm definitely going to use this when I practice my musty flick cancels. Need to improve my own air dribbles first though :D

    • @hydrarl3869
      @hydrarl3869 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's how I first started to learn musty's, but later down the line i realized the hardest part about musty's was getting the flip off the ball/ceiling then getting around the ball to the right spot, the actual flick isn't the hard part. Gotta learn a lot of weird car control things to maneuver properly and unlimited flips didn't help me so i basically had to start from scratch

      @thefullblazer blazer if you are tumbling around too much, then do the routine in the old "Advanced Car Control" video. That one is one that if you do for 2-3 weeks, you will rapidly improve. This one kinda adds on to that.

    the holding boost and air rolling drill really gives me a hard time, trying to learn to use air roll right from playing 2500+ hours of air roll. i just dont see how its possible to change directions that quickly while holding air roll and boost constantly. To add on to what Ciro is saying, be patient and relaxed. I have over 10K hours and it's all about having a healthy approach to the game. What I like to do is make an iced coffee, listen to a podcast or some chill music, and just practice for a while. Relaxed and non-judgmental. It's kinda like meditation.
      Improvement is part muscle-memory, but a bigger part mental. That's why you have some top esports players in other games... they come over to RL, and improve extremely fast (e.g. Faze Cizzorz). They know the process of learning. If you're finding out some things don't work, is it because you're so tense and over-focused on mistakes? Do you see a particular weakspot? Maybe you can target it with focused repetition. And then after a while, relax, and let your fingers do the work for you. Over time, and with proper introspection, you'll become a learning machine.
      I think the book "The Inner Game of Tennis" is a fantastic read. So is researching "motor skills development" in sports. Sometimes it's about getting your mentality right, so that you're in a place to learn quickly.

      @GFC haha you're just like me then. This stuff is challenging and exciting!
      Took me about a week for levels 1-3. I can't even do 5 so I skip it lol. It seems possible but that's harder than Obstacle Course #1... which is where I've been training lately. That's what Ganer does in his video, and you can clearly see the whole map is possible.
      I feel like it improved me a lot, but only to a limit. After that I feel like I need to use the ball, because my real blackout moments come from dodge control, flip reset set ups etc. But the car control drills help there.

      @@Kevpert I love the term you coined (I think?) "blackout" moments. When I train I'm also always trying to find those uncomfortable situations because of my understanding that fast improvement comes from deliberate practice, which you cleary understand yourself which is why I love this content. I can tell this ganer drill is amazing because I'm basically in a constant blackout moment haha.
      On the topic of flip/dodge control, here is a great drill I like to do... Basically, just turn on unlimited flips and be CONSTANTLY flipping in freeplay and making sure that your car doesn't make contact with any surface. So you're basically in mid-air flipping like a madman and you will encounter many uncomfortable situations or blackout moments you will have to flip your way out of so you don't crash into the wall/ground etc. Also doing double/triple flip resets is something I do all the time mainly to polish my flip control since it requires so much precision.
      And here's another drill I swear by, which I think has really upped my game. I keep switching between air roll left and air roll right. For instance, on a rings map, I'd do one air roll left tornado spin, then switch it up with one air roll right tornado spin, and keep repeating this pattern. This really gives your brain a workout and helps you use both air rolls together in a way that lets you pull off some pretty fancy maneuvers.

    I started to learn ARL with brute force method by doing full circles, I can complete 3 neon rings map levels. What's next? I can't complete a single level in your map, what's the best method to learn ARL?

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try constant air roll but feathering boost. If that's a bit too hard right now, you'll need to build up your ARL car control by hard focusing on obstacle courses, rings maps, and drills from the old "Advanced Car Control" video.
      Once you get to a good level after 2-3 weeks of practice (like you can complete an entire rings map), then revisit the hold boost + hold ARL drills.

      @@Kevpert im struggling with constant air roll cuz I don't know what direction I need to put the joystick in, I started with the brute force method. I tried many methods but nothing really worked

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Idan Levitski Watch the "Elite Car Control" video I made back in the day. That'll help you familiarize with each of the directions on ARL. Brute forcing is probably too overwhelming, right? Take time to learn each of the joystick directions + air roll.

      @@Kevpert yes, brute force method is too hard for me. I can't really do what you showed in the tutorial, what should I do?

      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@idanlevitski Just watch Ganer's video, and start the drills with no air roll first. Make sure you build your car control first and progress to harder stuff as you master that.

    Do you use air roll left, right, and free?

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yep, I use all of them. The free/normal air roll is mostly used for recoveries/flicks though.

    • @GFC1337
      @GFC1337 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kevpert I went from only using free air roll (for a couple of years) to using all three, then after using all three for about a year I decided to experiment and unbound free air roll and it shockingly made me WAY more fluid. Free air roll feels less efficient and more like a crutch compared to using Left and Right intertwiningly.

    I'm back for another comment after a week of doing these daily drills.
    I already had some sort of idea on how to move the car while using directional air roll because I practiced it before but never had I any true control of my car because I'd only use the joystick to the right and never to the left.
    And then I found this guide and my god holy sh* bro everything clicked, my eyes really opened up and I see my car in a different way now. It's really hard to explain it but it was in front of my eyes this entire time, how could I not see this before?
    I can't recommend the Ganer method enough man, it's because of that that I can now use directional air roll while using the full rotation of my joystick instead of only half of it and I literally feel one with my car. When my eyes opened, when it all clicked it was the best fucking feeling ever because not only am I controlling my car in every direction but for some reason I can do the craziest shit in training now. I can do flip resets, wall aerials, half flips, etc... sooooo much has opened up and it made rocket league in a whole different game for me now.
    It's so hard to explain because I always knew how to air roll but every guide explains it wrong and I know that now. Every guide explicitly says to turn left use right up, to turn right use right down. But that's sooooooooo wrong. I realize that now. Never before did I have this feeling where my joystick is almost connected to my car. I can't explain it man, but like... I see EVERYTHING. In slow-motion too. It almost feels like my joystick is glued to my car. It's really insane and it's all because of you and the Ganer method.
    To everyone reading this, go practice the ganer method. Idgaf how much youre gonna fail, it'll be worth it.
    Seriously Kev, thanks.

      @@Kevpert I have air roll left on left trigger and air roll right on right bumper.
      I'm pretty comfortable with air roll left I can go through all of rings pretty easily woth 0-2 deaths while continuously holding air roll left and feathering boost.
      It's the ganer method that as soon as I start makes zero sense I end up hitting the roof or just flying off into space lol
