      HEX I agree but it’s way harder cause you gotta pay very close attention and every now and then slow it down to see it in slow motion on how it’s done. I remember someone from boxing once said is if you wanna learn a technique or a skill always find a person who is known for it and study them as much as possible and as much detail as possible. For example in boxing let’s say you wanna know how to do the Philly Shell, you would probably study someone like Floyd Mayweather cause he is very well known for it as many of his defense skills. I think it’s harder than watching this video but trust me you’ll learn the best way to do it rather than what most people do which don’t get me wrong works but do you wanna be good an like everyone else or Wanna be above and beyond with the skill your learning. All depends on how serious you are but I absolutely agree

    One thing fluump said that stuck with me was that when you’re approaching the ball (usually upside down) don’t focus on landing the reset until the very end. Meaning that fly at the ball with the nose of your car pointed directly at the center of the ball. Once you’re lined up perfectly then lean ur car to hit the ball with the wheels

    • @iiFever
      @iiFever 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That helps 100%, I definitely can’t hit flip resets consistently but I found after some time that that tip helps significantly. That’s why when you watch pros they can go from what looks like an air dribble to a flip reset instantaneously. They are perfectly positioned to just rotate their car slightly to get their 4 wheels on the ball, so they’re not worried about getting under it, rather going straight at it and then just leaning back a bit to hit it.

    Great work! What commitment. Genuinely so impressed. I have a few questions: Is it possible to do it without a tornado spin? How much more difficult is it without binding to allow for tornado spin? If i bind my buttons (Nintendo switch) to allow for tornado spin, how much time does it take to get used to this change?

    • @Thanovic
      @Thanovic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't tornado spin when I come of the right wall so it's definitely possible. I think it's not even that hard to do it without the tornado honestly, I just got used to the tornado faster. And you will have to put a little bit of work into learning the movements with the tornado but you could try just trying to keep your car up in freeplay while only doing tornado spins and variations of them, that really helps your control. And thank you for the kind words!!! ❤️

    • @HexTheLegend
      @HexTheLegend 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Almost everything is possible as long you have boost manage, the good of tornado spinning is that you control car direction and speed easier if you're used to it.
      If you need to bind new controls and the time it'll be needed to get used to it, it'll depend on how much/hard you train. There's no specific time cause every player has different skill level and knowledge

    100 stiffness helps hugely as it recenters the camera in car cam when you get your flip reset, I learnt that from scrub and kuxir. And it really is just months of practice, what helped me at the start was boosting upside straight into the ball from head on, then turn the nose of your car to the ground just before you make contact with the ball. 9/10 times I can get a flip reset now and am often surprised when I don't get it.

    Edit: not to mention the way you explain things man: you deliver so much technical information so clear, precise and simply to where if we missed something it's only because you described it so perfectly that we're visualizing it and not fully paying attention to what follows.
    you deserve more cred man! you're the first name I think of when I want to watch a tutorial vid, then I watch others AFTER because sometimes the way diff content creators explain things can just make more sense with the way they worded it if THAT makes sense 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

    Another advice : If you are too low with the ball, instead of hitting a flip reset without power, when you’ve gained the reset, just do a flip cancel under the ball. If done correclty, the ball will gain a lot of power instantly and also surprise the opponents. Great vide btw

  • @ViberzRL
    @ViberzRL 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve never found myself braking before I hit the ball. I just boost into the ball and then stop boosting to slow myself down. This acts like a brake due to the pace but it balances both high and distance without losing any momentum, making the flip reset really easy to set up. Personally, the brake method makes it seem pretty unreliable due to the awkwardness of the slight but sudden pause and change if momentum👍

    • @Thanovic
      @Thanovic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good advice! I felt it was always easier without braking so I will start using this as well!

    By far the best flip reset tutorial on TH-cam even though it's over a year old. You don't go overly in depth because anyone who has the ability to learn this mechanic already has the basic knowledge needed.
    The only thing that I learned from my practice that I don't think you covered here is to use boost to build momentum toward the ball but not boost as you're pulling down to hit the reset. After 20 hours of struggling I finally figured out that was the thing holding me back. That fraction of a second I was holding boost too long plus the impact of the reset was sending me much further toward the ground than I needed to be and left me in really difficult positions to effectively use the flip or I smacked the ball so hard that it went way ahead of me. If anyone else gets like me to where they consistently and quickly get the setup and hit the reset but are struggling in using that reset I recommend checking your boost usage.

      It may seem unlikely at first but try hitting the reset {obviously with 4 wheels} but as close to the forward half of the bottom of the car as possible. I found this REALLY helped my car be in a great spot after getting the reset. If i landed it near the back half i almost had no chance of getting a productive second hit. The difference between the front half and back half of the reset is really small but give it a go!

    My main problem with getting the flip reset is using the brake after making contact with the ball on the wall. I still find myself losing too much momentum and not being able to catch up to the ball. If I don’t use the brake I find it easier to do though, but it seems the best flip resetters do brake and create a significant gap to the ball

  • @EpisodicEagle
    @EpisodicEagle 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, so I won't lie and this is definitely not to brag. But; I've never seen an actual flip reset tutorial and I'm... "alright" at them. I first started just by knowing that it was a thing, and I'd seen others do it before but I'd never looked up advice for it. Just sorta "trial-and-errored" my way through about 20 hours of practice in the span of a month or so.
    I started working on them as a Diamond 3 to Champ 1 player a little over a year ago now, but It only took me about a month to get it down to something that I considered "good enough for now" since they were cool, but not really necessary. Fast-forward about 13 months and I'm at the skill level of a high champ 3 to low GC (I don't play ranked all too much but am generally around 1500-1580 mmr, but that's a tangent story). Have I really gotten better at them? Well, not really. I've kept doing them occasionally, but never with good consistency and have never bothered putting more than 20 minutes into it. Think more "polishing what's already there" instead hammering out my base or even chiseling in more detail. Well, just doing them every once in a while for repetition's sake, but not actively attempting to improve myself.
    This guide didn't totally help all over the place, or maybe it did sorta reinforce a couple things? Well it's hard to tell because there's just ONE thing that completely overshadows it and rewrote my flip reset mechanics in only 5 minutes by taking them from inconsistent, but possibly passible at 1500 mmr, to "I didn't even know I could do these so good." That tip? Braking on the ball as it's touched. I'd never even THOUGHT about doing that. I am now hitting flip-resets way more consistently than I think I thought I'd ever get. like, "Maybe if I ever get around 1800 mmr in 2's, I'll be good enough by then." No, just adding that stop on the ball is such a minor, yet such a major, change that I'd never thought I'd hit these as good as I'm doing. Or at least, how much better I am compared to literally an hour ago, including the time it took to type this out.
    Alright, I'm not a pro, or even great at the game (from my perspective), but this single point has done probably the equivalent of 50+ hours of training would have done for me, in just a few minutes. I thank you, kind Sir.
    tl;dr: I'd done flip-resets for a while but the tip about braking slightly on the ball has vastly improved my consistency beyond what I thought possible through just 5 minutes of implementation.
    P.S: I still have never actively searched for flip reset tips, this video just came up in a queue and I was in free play, practicing my pinch shots. lol.
