    One of the best tutorials ever..the whole replacement process is fully explained; including every single detail..I think it's hard to get better than this.

      Hi - Thanks for watching! The battery for the memory saver or a 12-volt battery connected to the "jump posts" under the good will supply power for opening the trunk.

      I had to call a locksmith then I used the back seats pull down and I crawled into the trunk; used the trunks emergency hatch to pop the trunk.

    This vent tube is new stuff to me.
    1. What's it for?
    2. Does the new battery have to have port for that? If not, can you just ignore that part and tuck away that tube?

    • @jordaneimer2873
      @jordaneimer2873 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      over the lifetime of a battery like these. they can emit harmful gasses that you want to vent out. when the battery is inside the confines of your cabin like this in the trunk you want that to vent all the way outside the car. normal under-the-hood set ups dont really have these worries. although you will still see vent tubes on them as well.
      and yes all batteries that need that vent port will have one. all batteries HAVE that port actually. venting these gasses is critical to the batteries not exploding, quite literally. its just not that every application calls for it to be utilized for reasons that i mentioned above.

    When I replaced my battery, (06 300c) I bought an H8 battery (stock is H7) which is 3 inches bigger and at the same price. Better if you live where it gets cold. Hold down bracket no longer fits but the strap will do the job. A smaller hold down bracket to work with the larger battery ( part number 5112059AB) is available if you want.

    Should the vent port not used for the vent tube be plugged to prevent gasses from escaping the battery? This is a follow-up question concerning corrosion in the trunk and your response indicating the battery gasses must be vented outside via the vent tube. On the opposite side of the battery from the vent tube there is an identical vent port to be used if the vent tube is located on that side of the battery. thank you.

    • @TheBatteryShop
      @TheBatteryShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi - The unused vent tube port on the battery should be plugged with the plug that comes with the battery.

      Hi - Thanks for watching! We suppose that everyone is different, but none of us have ever been "shocked" by a 12-volt car battery. We have however, created some spectacular sparking and arcing over time by shorting the positive battery cable to ground when using a memory saver. So be careful there.

    • @TheBatteryShop
      @TheBatteryShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi - Thanks for watching! Corrosion can occur when battery gases from a battery, when it is being aggressively charged, reacts with the lead battery posts even when the battery is inside the vehicle. These nasty gases must be vented outside of the vehicle via the vent tube.
