Its been a solid little car ,drove from md to miami , md to denvdr, jackson hole, never a minutes problem. I just bought a couple of weeks ago a 2013 200 Limited. for my wife to replace a 2005 Ford Taurus that is on its way out. The 200 is a nice mid size car with plenty of features and my wife loves the car. Not realizing or thinking of where the battery would be located in the car. I did see before we purchased the vehicle that there were jumping terminals on top in the engine bay. I saw those and thought at the time without looking, well the battery must be in the trunk beside the spare tire like my car a Dodge Charger. Then after we purchased the car and got it home I started looking for the battery, well its not in the trunk beside the spare tire, maybe its under the rear seat? I got the manual out and started reading and said to myself Say what!! It is a stupid design but it would not detract me from buying the car again after all you don't replace car batteries everyday.
I think the Chrysler engineers were so excited when they first came up with the cars design and said this is a really nice looking car and just look at all these features........Hey Bob, (Chrysler Engineer #1), yes Dan, (Chrysler Engineer #2), [why will the car not start (Dan)] [I don't know is there gas in it (Bob)???] [Where's the Battery??? (Dan)] [Oh crap we forgot to design in a place for the battery (Bob)] [ Lets just tuck it behind the front bumper below the headlight because there's some free space there (Dan)] [ Sounds good (Bob)]
    Just a Thought.

When I bought my beautiful convertible 200S, I had no idea what I'd let myself in for. This is the hardest car to repair I've ever had, bar none. This is a good example: just changing the battery takes half an hour & multiple tools. If you want to change headlight bulbs be prepared to do one side, then the other, with a similar disassembly process- and even then, you'll get your hands cut while replacing the bulbs; there's just no room to move & lots of sharp metal, so have bandaids handy!

I have a 2013 Chrysler 200 V6. Before the battery dies you will get an amber warning light on your dashboard that stays on all the time. There are 2 amber lights one for TPSMS and the other for engine problems. Amber means it is still drivable a red light means get it towed. I took it to the local Chrysler dealer and they charged me 30 minutes labor to read the code to find the problem. They replaced the battery and also did an oil change that I also requested. On the final bill I still was only charged for 30 minutes labor. Now they charged me 129.00 for the battery which I thought was fair. My main point here is that you get fair warning that the battery is weak. Drove it for 5 or 6 days before I could get it to the dealer (always started never needed a jump) for an appointment. This happened in the dead of winter in Connecticut. I like the car and plan on keeping it as long as possible. Love the quick V6 engine 288 horsepower.

I've seen other people comment about the headlights, if you think the battery placement is ridiculous.
I have had my Chrysler 200 for 8 years this spring and put an obscene amount of miles on it with very few problems. So it's far from the worst car I've owned.
That being said, unless you have a lot of tools and a nice warm heated garage, doing ANY maintenance on it yourself is enough to drive you drink.
I swear it is designed to require most people to take it back to the dealership or a mechanic for every little thing, like battery or headlight changes.
When mine finally gives up the ghost, I will not be replacing it with another 200.
Thank you for this video. Changing the battery is the current adventure I'm having with mine.

@@TheBatteryShop Thank you for the step by step video!
I didn't have the tool for popping out push pins and ended up putting a couple small accidental holes in my hand with a flat screwdriver, but I finally got the battery changed.
Worth a note: the battery I bought as a replacement ended up being 1/16th of an inch taller than the old battery. That ended up being enough of a difference to prevent the battery hold down bracket from fitting back in place.
After much cursing and a 20 minute sanity break, I had to grind that 1/16th of an inch off the bracket to put it back in place.
Your video was extremely helpful. I can't help but think if I had filmed my attempt to follow it would be nothing if not sadistically humorous.

I'm really curious about something. I have a 2014 Chrysler 200 S, 3.6 L. I got a H7 730 CCA battery but since it's gonna be such a pain in the arss & I truly want the most powerful battery I can safely put in... Can I put up to an 800 CCA H7 battery in? Obviously it would have to be within correct measurements to fit. I'm just gonna measure mine & go back to Walmart today to see if I can find one with same measurements. If I get a battery that powerful could it possibly somehow cause problems? Thank you much for your time.

Am about to possibly due this job in the 32 degree winter weather here in February, and great details from this YT, but I most Definitely would test out the new battery after installed and see if indeed "starts the car" and indeed "the Alternator is charging" said new battery once it is "back in circuit" before I go back through that whole process of putting the splash shield and the tire back on... What a dumb place to put the Battery !

Just a safety hint. Remove the ground on the battery first and install it last, even if you think the battery is dead it still has enough to spark if your wrench grounds. I bought one new in sept 2011 with the 4 cyl, excellent carplenty of power and great on fuel,my battery lasted till today and besides tires, wiper blades and brakes ,this will be the first repair in 12 years at 195,000 km.
