      Yep! Modest, genuine, and playing purely from their souls rather than their egos - like the anti-John Mayers. Lol.

      @theanthonyv Good lord, your opinion of John Mayer as a guitarist is pretty damn imbecillic. Jack and Duane are soul drenched masters, but so is John Mayer in his guitar playing. I'd love to hear you , if you even play an instrument. Usually the ones that slag other musicians, their own skills are pretty mediocre. The ego based name of your channel says it all. 😂

      Gotta love Jack---always dressed like he's about to go out to the garage and do a brake job on his truck, picks up his $100 Squier and shows the world that it's the woodsman, not the axe. And perfectly happy playing small venues in Nashville. My #1 favorite guitarist. And one of the few rock/blues guys who can cover Wes Montgomery.

      You say was your favorite then you say you bought it for her.
      Did it she get tired of you playing it all the time and pack up and take the guitar and cut a trail ? Just think if you'd bought an expensive guitar instead of cheaping out? I bought my girlfriend an expensive chainsaw/ Husqvarna 372 for father's day ' was one of my favorites saws, 2 weeks later she left me and took the saw.

    Jack Pearson and Derek Trucks playing one of the many great Derek and the Dominoes tunes. If it seems like a no brainier, it is. This is freakin' brilliant. It is truly on par with Warren and Derek, or Luther and Derek. And no comparing the individual playing, who's better or whatever. Cause once you go there you've lost the whole point of this here thing. And I have to add that Derek looks stoned to me in this video; or maybe he's like the rest of us, stoned on Jack's phenomenal playing. His comping Derek's playing from begging to end is sublime. Infusing it with that melodic Allman brothers Dickey Betts vibe. And his short solo after the first verse continues to melt my face to this day.

    Jack always seems to remind everyone, no matter who it is, no matter how big they are, no matter how serious or legendary they are that everyone started playing in the beginning because it was fun and it made them smile. He seems to have never lost that simple joy in just making pleasing sounds with his guitar. What an absolute genius player the guy is. My only regret from the time I lived in Nashville is that I never got to see him play.

    When you hear other people with this kind of talent and feeling do songs from Layla,
    you realized how great an accomplishment that record was. That was probably Eric
    Clapton's peak and the combination of people on the album made a statement in the
    world of soulful blues/rock that will not be equaled. You can hear Derek spinning some
    of Duane's licks and the combination of Derek and Jack Pearson is almost as good as
    Eric and Duane. Pearson is just as good as Derek, possibly better, but so far under most
    music fan's radar it's crazy. This is stunning, it really is. Nothing will touch the brilliance of
    Eric and Duane together on Layla, but this is a great reminder!

    • @staggerproof5589
      @staggerproof5589 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, I was thinking about the same comparison with Duane and Eric....sacrilege to some, but it is a valid comparison. TTB begins to sound a LOT like ABB on this lead jam possibly because Jack is sort of channeling a bit of "Blue Sky". Derek is great, but even better when he has a Warren, Doyle or Jack to push him. TTB is the obvious heir to the ABB....

    • @betterdogbehaviornow581
      @betterdogbehaviornow581 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With all due respect Jack Pearson is a better and more skilled player than any of those greats you mentioned…he plays rock, blues, country and he is a serious and skilled jazz player. None of those guys mentioned could do that. He plays with Tommy Emmanuel and Brent Mason…he can be mentioned in the same breath as guys like that and Danny Gatton and Lenny Breau. Those guys are far beyond the guys mentioned. Jack is that good. Popularity and being known don’t necessarily translate to top of the mountain skill. Jack Pearson is an all time great in terms of guitar skill…make no mistake about that…and everyone on that stage is pleasantly aware of that. You’re watching greatness.

    In my humble opinion the only one playing today that can hold a candle next to Derek Trucks on slide is the man standing next to him Jack Pearson even though in this song he doesn't play any slide. He also played in the ABB though for a very short time and never recorded in the studio with them, but his slide playing in concert was one of a different sound that mixed jazz with blues and with what he made seem like effortless virtuosity that just anyone could do, but never has matched!!

    • @ChipMautz
      @ChipMautz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a young guy working Robert’s on Broadway named Luke McQuery who is well on his way into that “underground great” category. He’s in a band called Kelly’s Heroes and if you get the chance, check him out. He’s maybe not there yet but I first met him when he was 18 and he was jaw dropping and he’d only been playing a couple years. He advances at lightning speed. Incredible young player. He’s probably 23 or so now.

    God was bored on the eighth day, and said I need a theater in Nashville.
    And the Ryman was made. And it was good.
    And God said, Don't bogart that joint, Derek and Jack are playing along with TTB.
    And he was happy.

      Nancy Faass He was lead singer for the Derek Trucks band for years before TTB. Great singer. I love Susan, but I miss hearing Mike sing more.

      Mike Mattison isn't singing with Derek Trucks anymore? AWESOME. His voice always ruins this song.
