Gregg Allman Band played Portland Oregon with Derek Trucks opening the show. 14 years old. I know DT is a better musician now but i witnessed a fire so hott it was unique
This will never be the same again without the wonderful musician who was Kofi Burbridge. RIP.
First thought when I heard that flute
Gabe has done a fabulous job taking over the keyboards, and he has a wonderful voice that blends well with Susan's. But I do miss Kofi's flute. It added soo much to the band. RIP.
While it’s not easy, good music can still be found

Incredible playing and singing. Everyone on here is great, that wonderful flute solo, Derek's solos, Susan's singing. the drummers, the horns, everyone..... Awesome band.

Haven't heard anything like this since The Allman Brothers Band Mountain Jam in 1973! And I'm even starting to think this Idle Wind is even better!! Never thought it would be possible....

THIS. This, chirren is music. Susan is so good in the lower registers, just smooth and infused with soulful emotion. If I came back as Derek's guitar, that would be fine.

You Got to love the Old school band with two Drummers.
Thor Almighty: have you heard Joe Russo's Almost Dead band? Tom Hamilton (he also plays slide) and Scott Metzger are two world-class guitarists - fronted by Russo whose drumming sounds like at least 2 or 3 drummers at once.
They have two truly remarkable players in keyboardist Marco Benevenuto and bassist Dave Dreiwitz. They jam some outstandingly played Dead songs. Always love Tedesci Trucks, but Russo and company are not to be missed! And this is a huge understatement.

Derek is an other worldly slide player, but I really love it when he gives us a killer solo without the slide, like he does here at 15:20

A great band. I enjoy Derek the most when he’s emulating Duane Allman’s tone and phrasing . His Sitar sounding lines and roll offs I find unappealing. But a huge talent for sure.

I think Mark Knopler is a great guitarist of course, and great song and lyric writer and stylist. But as a finger picker, I don't think he can match Derek Trucks. I don't think anyone can.

While Derek Trucks is an amazing and wonderful player, i still think Duane Allman had a better feel and rhythm to his solos and down time. No disrespect but he just had timing and an ability to know when to pick it up and let it down and not linger too long. I find my self wanting Derek to just go and not noodle too long. If i ate the mushrooms i wouldn't care but hey....

@@greenhometony I'm happy we have Derek to continue that guitar sound, especially because it has its own flavour. We are so lucky that this kid grew-up around the musicians he did. Can't wait to see this group live one day!

Like it a lot. Same three chord tuned strings for slide guitar. Kinda like being stuck as foundational corner stones from a Greek or Persian or African, or fill-in ur choice. No band plays the music this band does
I love TTB! They are one of the top five live bands that have ever graced any stage any where. And I love this live version of Idle Wind; but to be honest, this is one of the worst shot videos I've ever seen of the band. It's such a shame, but the camera work is on such an amateur level. Pullbacks are shaky, they don't seem to focus on the right members of the band (e.g., missed Alecia during her solo), etc., etc. It seems as though this was the first time the camera operator used a video camera. At least the sound was decent.
It IS an amateur filming, you dingbat. Some people are so entitled. We could have no video or audio at all. Fortunately, we do have both, but Goldilocks here has to have it "juuuust right".
