  • What VESA adapter do I use for the Wacom Cintiq 27QHD? or Which VESA mount are you using in that video for the Ergotron arm? are two of the questions I get asked a lot in the comments on my videos. So I thought I'd make this video here, with some links in the description, to help you find the perfect VESA adapter for Your drawing tablet and your stand or arm - even if it isn't the same as the Ergotron arm and the Wacom Cintiq that I'm using right here. Hope this helps folks.
    PRODUCTS:
    • Adapters that will fit the Wacom 27QHD 200x100 and the Ergotron 100x100 configuration:

    Let me know in the comments if you have a good VESA adapter or if you're looking for that perfect mounting bracket to get the community conversation started ;) I'd love to see what you all think on this subject!
    Until next time, keep on painting!
    Lawrence.

    Wanted to ask everyone... what do you all think of the new style of thumbnail on this video? Yay or nay? (Visit my Channel page to see it compared to the rest). Thanks in advance for the feedback :D

    • @TimRoot-dotcom
      @TimRoot-dotcom 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new thumbnail style looks nice and clean, though perhaps the text is harder to read without the red background? You make way better thumbnails then me ... maybe you can A-B test on some older videos to see what style people click on the most! Keep up the great work ... you are fun to watch!

      Thanks for the feedback Tim. Means a lot! I thought at one point about getting rid of the text altogether but I still think it's better! It is a little harder to read I know but you get more picture - I wasn't sure if that was worth the trade? Thanks for your continued support btw Tim ;D

    What size screws do I need? I have asked Wacom but they didn't know. Do you happen to know the specs of the screw itself so I can get this thing mounted? It's been sitting in my room taunting me......

      Did it not come with screws? Where did you buy it from that didn't suply screws? Was it 2nd hand? Any hoo... Off the top of my head I don't know the exact size. The way to get that answer though is to Tweet @Ergotron and ask them directly. They will tell you for sure - very nice people. Copy my name in and that'll secure you an answer ;) @LAWRENCEcanDRAW ...If you're not on Twitter then do it via FaceBook!! Hope that helps.

    good video... i got a cintiq 27 hd touch for only 600euro... i cant wait to get it... it has no stand... i cant really find the stand anywhere to buy... i will try the amazon basic arm :D

      If you use the Amazon Arm then the 27QHD will have to rest on your desk for stability. You will be pushing it to it's MAX weight limit.

    Hi Lawrence, you're right to get the best possible vesa adapter for a $3000 20+ pounds device like your wacom cintiq 27.
    You don't want to take any risk of your wacom falling of your desk despite the more than bulletproof Ergotron arm.
    I've bought two "North Bayou F 80" for my soon to arrive Monoprice. I will assemble them with the help of Ahmandonk's video
    "unboxing North Bayou F80", i only understand half of B.I. (bahassa Indonesia = language spoken in Indonesia) , but it's nice to hear some of my mothers native speaking language for a change. The monitor arms are the cheapest on the market, but i haven't come across any conns about this product yet. It's good enough for lighter monitors under 14 pounds or 6,5 kg, the Monoprice weighs 8.4 pounds or 3.8 kgs, but first i have to get this monitor working, which might be a question still.
    The heavier the monitor, the better the overall quality. I've tried to sell myself that way, but they still call me a "fat bast.."
    46 euros for the two of them plus 9 Euro shipping, E.55,00 is pretty sharp. Around $35 with free shipping is the most common pricing among sellers. At least i made some room for the purchase of 2 screen protector foils. German Follix sold me these foils for E.33 with E.11 shipping costs. It arrived in a big box, not rolled up, fortunately. The foils are inprinted with" Wacom cintiq 22 HD v.3" , so maybe no horror stories about crap screen protectors like i use to hear/read.
    Speaking about heavy monitors being the best, how about the mounting of the Dell Canvas? i know i must sound a bit anxious, but there is absolutely NO news about the Dell Canvas introduction, maybe something to do with the outroll of the Windows 10 Creators Update april 11?

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of people skimp on the arm but when it's holding a device this expensive I like to go for a decent make and make sure that every nut, bolt & VESA adapter is right for the job. I can't see Wacom replacing it because your 'cost-effective' arm gave way! lol.
      As long as you've done your research and the arm and parts can easily take the weight and size then it should be fine. One thing I like about Ergotron is the warranty. I trust these arms and some I've seen look a bit poor in the manufacturing of the metals & csting they use. I haven't heard too much about the Bayou F80 so can't say. I'd love to hear how you get on with it when it arrives.
      The one thing that people never seem to take into account is if there desks are good enough for the job. I've heard of people mounting large tablets on arms and then their cheap chipboard desks give way. The weight is all focused on one small point so you have to have a solid desk! Haha - just reminded myself of the fool that tried to mount it on a glass desk one time. That was funny!

    Hello there, from reading around the screws that come with the Cintiq are too small for this VESA adapter and I have seen no mention of those thumb screws being included with the Sit-Stand arm itself. Do I need to buy them separately or do they come with the arm? I am buying the arm right now as my tablet arrives next week and there is literally no room on my desk to mount it any other way. XD

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those Thumb screws came with the Ergotron. Obviously I can't guarantee that Ergotron haven't changed this or that it isn't different from model to model but they came in the kit as you can see here. You can however buy them separately on Ebay and Amazon. The Thumb screws are no different that the versions you use a screwdriver for. Personally, if I didn't have them I'd just use the standard ones - it wouldn't bother me too much. Let me know if they are in your kit!

    I have question. It's possible to break wacom back ? I have ergotron to (wacom 22 ) and when I work with rotation and angle change same time, well I worry about by tablet. Have you hear about damaged wacom in that way? They should use metal plate instead plastic but I know... weight would be around 20% bigger

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is possible to break the back of a Cintiq. I've seen it done but only on older models. Not the newer ones. It's also another good reason to use a large VESA like this but it does add weight. The Wacom 22 should be fine as long as your careful. You could always try a sturdier VESA mount and I'd always suggest it if you're using a 4-piece or a 2-piece VESA. It is rare that the Wacom will break though. What kind of VESA are you using at the moment? If you're unhappy with it then check out some of the links in the descriptions. They are all good 1-piece brackets. Hope that helps. Let me know!

    • @jurandfantom
      @jurandfantom 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right now i use Ergotron LX Desk Mount so normal square VESA 100x100. I think about bigger plate adapter (not so fancy like your on video ) to apply push force for bigger area (22HD don't have more mount points so only glue could help more ? xD ). Well if in your opinion, that sounds (not glue - maybe mounting tape? hmm good idea actually) logic, then i gonna buy.
      Beside it's annoying that ergotron don't have some kind ball base bending point like our leg bones - that would be great, but probably hard to setup.

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Links are in the description to a few different styles ;) I figured not everyone would want such a big VESA.
      I get what you mean about the 'ball base'. Like an ankle but would that be sturdy enough to hold such a heavy device. The Joy Factory use this on their tablet mount (check out my video on that) and it works great. I assume Ergotron have tried it or just plain discounted it for the stability/weight issue. We should ask them!

    • @jurandfantom
      @jurandfantom 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I forget check des links but - yep - like I see, I have open already 1 and 2'th product. That Joy Factory mount could be perfect, but ehh I expect that my non optymistic thought are correct. thanks for help :)

      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ian, do you mean will the HX arm (amzn.to/2lyitEz) be as good for the Cintiq 27QHD? If so, yes. They can both handle the wweight/size of the tablet. I have a video on using the HX with the Dell Canvas which is very similar: th-cam.com/video/6KqqInnRZQc/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps!

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, sorry, just noticed this wasn't the video I thought it was. You mean the VESA adaptor. Yes! That will work fine with the Ergotron HX (amzn.to/2lyitEz).

    • @bladewraith
      @bladewraith 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol no worries. Yeah, I'm just about to buy the 27qhd as I'm giving up on waiting for the 32 Pro - Wacom have a history of being very late! My current monitor (on an LX arm) is the same weight as the 27qhd and I find it has a bit of bounce. I have no doubt that the LX will cope, but I want the extra stability and rigidity the HX will offer.

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW

      CES is on the 9th of Jan and a lot of great tech get announced there. I'm assuming we'll get either a launch or more info at the time. My sources have been quiet but I think things are still on target from what I've heard ;D
      If you're thinking of buying from Amazon (US) then why not use my trusty link: amzn.to/2C2PcJ8 - it'll throw a few bucks my way and won't make the Wacom any more expensive for you. It's just a great way to help fund the channel so I can make more videos 😊

  • @gammonwalker
    @gammonwalker 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Laurence! Thanks for all the great content! I was wondering if I was getting that same Ergotron LX HD mount is it necessary to buy these adapter parts? It looks like the arm already came with the proper mount, just curious as to why you swapped it out! Was the previous causing problems or was it wobbly? Thanks man!

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a very good question (and well worded too) The VESA adapter that came with the Ergotron is great. No need to change it as long as it fits whatever you're mounting on the arm. However, I do get a lot of questions about VESA adapters so I thought I'd make this video just to cover the basics and show off what I consider to be a fairly typical & cost-effective mount. In the description you'll see I've listed a couple of alternatives but there are tons of different styles you can pick from. What are you mounting on your Ergotron?

    • @gammonwalker
      @gammonwalker 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the response my man! The reason I'm asking is because I just purchased the very same Cintiq 27QHD, upgrading from an ancient 21UX. I'm wanting to pick up an arm for it and am weighing my options based on price and efficacy. If the included mount works without issue, then I'm sold - mostly.
      If you don't mind the additional question; I also see that the Ergotron LX Desk Mount, which is half the price, works as well. Do you think that arm will be sturdy enough to support the 27QHD or should I just go all in for the one you're using. I'd really prefer a stable platform to draw on.

    • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW
      @LAWRENCEcanDRAW  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Standard LX arm will NOT hold the weight of the 27QHD. If you use it then the arm will not be able to support the tablet and it'll just keep floating down and never stay in place. I've seen a few videos on TH-cam where people put the 27QHD on the LX and then get frumpy. Also, the 27QHD is outside of the LX's weight limit so if something did ever go horribly wrong I'm not sure the warranty would be in place. I always tell people that if you're going to spend $1000s on a tablet then don't put it on a cheap arm that might result in the tablet getting damaged. Go for the best experience possible.
      Hope that helps!

    • @gammonwalker
      @gammonwalker 7 ปีที่แล้ว
