  • With only one game localized, it's crazy how few people know about the Legendary Starfy. So to fix that, let's dive into all five of the Starfy games.

    Ironically, starfy's lack of localization and transformation ability were the reason no one i knew as a kid wanted it. Everyone thought it was just a bad attempt at a Kirby clone, since everyone was playing Kirby Superstar Ultra at the time, and had no idea Starfy was already such a long running series. Really wish we hadn't all been a bunch of tiny hipsters and would've just played and enjoyed it lol!

    If I had all the power in the world, I would use it to make Nintendo treat EVERY IP they own equally. Not just Starfy, but also Custom Robo, Sin and Punishment, Fossil Fighters, Chibi-Robo, Nintendo Wars, even REALLY obscure stuff like Slide Adventure MAGKID or Doshin the Giant. Smash Bros. has shown that Nintendo has TONS of IPs just lying there gathering dust, and I'd give anything to see each and every one, or at least 80% or so, be given proper love and treatment.

    • @autobotstarscream765
      @autobotstarscream765 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem is, how do Nintendo and their underlings such as Game Freak, HAL, and Intelligent Systems keep making games for all the franchises once they run out of ideas?
      Mario and Pokémon are particularly cautionary tales of the consequences of running on fumes.

    • @jacobs.9661
      @jacobs.9661 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@autobotstarscream765 Well they could release only one game per series per console. One 3D Mario, one 2D Mario, one Zelda, one Pokemon, one Starfy, etc. They could also enlist Third Party developers to work on some, like how Mercury Steam and Ubisoft worked on a Metroid and Mario game respectively. They could also just make their studios larger with more employees over time, preferably young employees who may have played these games already, and have fresh ideas for them. They could also re-release the games on the eShop, and judge which ones have more potential by their sales, since giving every single one a fair shot is probably a real impossibility.

    • @newageBoundhippie
      @newageBoundhippie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      same, including making damn sure EVERYTHING got released worldwide. So many Nintendo games I really wanted to play never released in North America, like Giftpia, ASH, Soma Bringer, Jet Impulse, the Trace Memory & Hotel Dusk sequels ( thankfully I DID manage to import the PAL version of Hotel Dusk's sequel Last Window and it's amazing ), Tomato Adventure, Starfy 1-4, Zangeki No Reginleiv, Chibi-Robo 3, Nintendoji, Zekkyo Senshi Sakeburein, Marvelous, MOTHER 3, Rhythm Tengoku, the Card Hero series, Custom Robo 1 & 2, Magical Vacation....
      hell at this point I'm also the crazy weirdo wishing Nintendo would have Platinum bring Project HAMMER back from the dead & make it for Switch....and I'm also the guy wishing they'd stop using the Nintendog in Smash, it triggers my PTSD :/

    Seriously thank you for making this video to shed light on this underrated series! I was yet another who grew up playing and adoring Starfy 5 only to find out later that the rest of the games were Japanese exclusives, and this taught me a ton of things about the series that I never even knew!! Hopefully if the rest of the franchise gets a translation then I can properly play them all, but until then I hope this video continues getting attention and that maybe our spinny boi might even make a proper return someday 🥺

    I've always really enjoyed The Fandom Files but I love your personality and the way you talk in general so honestly any sort of review or documentary type video would be rad. Maybe diving into internet rabbit holes and exploring some spookier stuff would be interesting! But at the end of the day I'm here for whatever you feel like producing :]!

    this series had a massive impact on my childhood. I found this today, September 6th 2021. Starfy turns 19 today. Starfy 3 is one of my favourite games ever, and seeing Ogura's last words translated brought tears to my eyes...I didn't know that it was that deep. jeez, man.

    The legendary starfy had amazing amount of content and secrets and detail put into it I remember loving the commercial I saw for it on the DS in the early 2000s and wanting it thankfully my dad bought it for me and I had a good time enjoying it and the story

    Honestly loved the video up until now I had no idea the previous games existed. I got the DS game when I was about 5-8 and I played the hell out of it as a kid I still go back to it every now and then. Honestly now knowing about the other games I would have loved to play them too bad they never got localized, here's to hoping someone translates the other games or better yet Nintendo release remakes of the old ones translated. Thanks for the awesome video.

    It is so awesome seeing a big TH-cam bring attention to all my childhood favorites like Starfy and Fossil Fighters. Two other underrated games I'd recommend would be Ubisoft's Combat of Giants series and Freakyforms, I'm sure both of those would make excellent videos.

    Ah thanks for covering this game! When I was a kid playing the fifth game, I had always felt like I, as a player, was missing context, and looking into it confirmed my suspicions. But I was sad that they were never localised :( it was super fun though, and the music still plays in my head sometimes to this day.

    I remember this game, big time!! It was one of my first ever games, and I remember seeing the bizarre ads on TV with that fisherman before receiving this game and Professor Layton one Christmas. I didn't like the puzzles in Layton and ended up selling it when younger, but I absolutely fell in love with Starfy, and remembering how shocked I was at Moe being such a sweetheart for a hardy character, the cute costume and gacha side content, and the takoyaki and fishing minigames was great! Thanks for telling me how the other games went -- I had no clue there were four more titles, and it was a series!!
    My favorite character, by the way, was Bunston -- I always loved bunnies, and his story was the only game story to successfully make me cry around that time other than those in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games I had around the same time. Funnily enough, too, this game is what made me hone my button mashing skills as well for that final Mashtooth battle! I was so proud of myself. Again, thanks for the nostalgia! Played this game to death as a kiddo too, and I still have the cartridge!

    I remember the 5th entry fondly, but also with PTSD of the second moon phase... I remember actually needing an action replay to beat it just for that as my fingers even back then, were not fond of button mashing. Though what brings the fondness were two things: the aesthetic and the music. Shame you never brought up the ladder as the music for the games are fairly good even now. Though I've never subscribed and have seen a few videos of yours, I'm glad you're making a return even if I almost forgot what you did. Twitch clip was nice. Enjoy your day.

    Having vainly waited for years for someone to translate these games, it's great to see that at least the first one has finally been tackled. I really hope that the others get the same treatment. Starfy has always held a bit of an exotic fascination for me.
    If you're still looking for suggestions for future videos, I'd love to see more GBA coverage. The system has a really varied and interesting library.

    This brings a tear to my eye. I remember when I first saw the commercial, I was instantly hooked on getting the game. Once I saved up for it to purchase it, my sister and I adored the game for how unique it was from the other DS games we had. It felt like we were playing a Kirby game that was very unique.

    You know, this may sound strange, but I've actually been wanting to make a Starfy game, like one that kinda has the feel of the GBA games. However, problem is, I don't know how I am going to make this dream come true. I have been practicing fun story-writing, and I have been having fun in sprite-making. It's just the coding department that I'm not good in.
    Anyone got any ideas to help me out here? It'd be greatly appreciated! :>

    If your looking for video ideas how about doing more "what happened to certain series" videos for series that have pretty much ended like MGS? Hell maybe even some more FF content since that is the namesake of your channel and your past videos on the series were excellent
