This worked immediately. I tested this driver without even restarting my PC, and my Surface started to charge. I was about to toss it or sell it since I could only charge it when it was in hibernation mode/asleep. I lost hours of potential working time like this. I've tried so many things that never worked, until this! Easily adaptable if you have Windows 10, just search "restore default startup type for Microsoft ACPI control method battery driver" and you'll find the W10 version easily. Thank you!!
Thanks man. I have a cheap Toshiba Satellite (more of a powerful tablet) without an easily removable battery. 0% charge, so I was concerned about starting up without AC power. Deleted the drivers, shut off, pulled the plug and waited the 5 minutes or so. Machine started, plugged in AC, and is now recharging. I believe you could either start the machine on battery or on AC. It is the drivers that are the mess.

@@Cornflakes691 yes, it turns out that the battery was charging but really slowly. I left the laptop only on the battery till it reached 20%, then I plugged it in and I saw that is charging. I think they did this to protect the battery to use it for a longer time.
But what if your battery is already at 0%? How are you going to turn it back on to install the CBatt? My laptop won't turn on without the charger plugged in. Please help :(
Yeah the battery is dead for sure. I'm not gonna replace it soon since it's going to cost me a lot of money. For the time being I'm just gonna always plug it in.

Worked for my old Lenovo Y50-70 laptop with Lenovo Energy Manager installed. Follow the uninstallation mentioned in video, and run the downloaded file, which is just a batch file, containing .... @echo off sc config CmBatt start= demand exit this fix saved me from buying a new battery. Tks bro.

Thanks for making a video for this solution. It's helped me to fix this problem several times now. That being said, for whatever reason, this is a reoccurring problem for me that will happen every few months on my Acer Aspire. It's getting frustrating for me now lol. Usually uninstalling the battery drivers in Device Manager followed by restarting the computer and disconnecting the power cord (except for the link in the description, because it doesn't work) once or twice would solve the problem. This last time, however, I've done it 5-6 times in a row and the "plugged in, not charging" message is still there.
ok link actually works, I just had to "right click", then "Copy Link Location", then "paste" for it to work. Clicking on it directly will direct to a page that says "Forbidden".

Im glad it worked for you.Also in the future every time you power down unplug your pc.Turn it on plugged out and allow the battery do lose about 10% or so power before plugging it in I have been doing this and im problem free.
After uninstalling the ACPI driver, you mention unplugging the AC adapter. You do realize that doing this will instantly cut power and shut down the laptop since the battery isn't working right? So in this case, is it still advisable to unplug the AC adapter at this point or do a normal system shut-down through Windows first and then unplug the adapter?
I have a non removable battery and my laptop stopped charging over 2 weeks ago and I'm the only one who can try and fix it but I can't do this because my computer is already dead and can't turn back on. I got someone to take out the battery and put it back in and it didn't do anything
you would need to detach the tablet from the keyboard. Instruction to manually remove it is on you tube. Charge the tablet and you can follow the above.
Well, I had high hopes for your solution. Unlike the previous solutions I tried I did not get the "not charging" message right away after completing your steps. In trying other solutions, the message would return within a minute of rebooting the machine. Unfortunately, my joy at thinking your solution was successful was short lived... It took 10 or 15 minutes, but the "not charging" message came back. I was careful to make sure I downloaded the right bat file for my operating system... but to no avail. Thanks for the video anyway. And what I do is as follows: 1. open "device manager" - batteries 2. uninstall "microsoft ACPI-Compliant control method battery" 3. dissable "microsoft AC adapter" 4. shut down to 5 minutes 5. turn the laptop back on 6. my battery back to normal 7. ennable "microsoft AC adapter" Hopefully can help you, wassalammualaikum

hi i had a different problem but i hope you know what to do, so my laptop's battery indicator is error so it says 100% but it says 30 minutes left so the indicator error, i tried reinstalling the driver with the bat file but still doesn't work
I haven't actually tried this but there's something far simpler that you can try to fix this problem. At least until it starts acting up again. What I tried is disabling both devices and then inmediately turning them back on. That seems to have fixed the problem. Of course, this doesn't ensure that it won't happen again. Edit1: it does happen again. After you restart the problem is back. I guess I'll try the tutorial then. Edit2: I tried the tutorial. The problem is gone. It doesn't reappear after restarting. I'm running Windows 10 Home OS build 1507. Edit3: once again the problem is back. If this is supposed to be a permanent solution, it doesn't work for me.
I did this. It worked. The very next day, it happened again. It didnt work this time. I was too lazy to follow the steps to make it not happen again... Well this sucks
Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter, also after completing the steps it would be wise to press the battery reset button (if available on your laptop). It worked for me, I also managed to get beyond the ''FORBIDEN PAGE'' popup by navigating manually to batcmd.com then click ''windows*(your version) services'' and clicking on ''Microsoft ACPI Control Method Battery Driver''. I think I did all the steps, and my battery was at 1% plugged in but not charging, but it didn't work. Is there anything I possibly did wrong? I went to device manager and uninstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliment Control Method Battery and Microsoft AC Adapter. Then unplugged my AC adapter, from the wall socket too. When I powered my pc up, it still wasn't charging.

I did this.
It worked.
The very next day,
it happened again.
It didnt work this time.
I was too lazy to follow the steps to make it not happen again...

Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter, also after completing the steps it would be wise to press the battery reset button (if available on your laptop).
It worked for me, I also managed to get beyond the ''FORBIDEN PAGE'' popup by navigating manually to batcmd.com then click ''windows*(your version) services'' and clicking on ''Microsoft ACPI Control Method Battery Driver''.

Just noting that my lead was the problem for me and to try a different one to see if that's the problem.

I think I did all the steps, and my battery was at 1% plugged in but not charging, but it didn't work. Is there anything I possibly did wrong? I went to device manager and uninstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliment Control Method Battery and Microsoft AC Adapter. Then unplugged my AC adapter, from the wall socket too. When I powered my pc up, it still wasn't charging.

En la carpeta que indica el video, y que busquemos con "cm" me aparece un driver viejo. PUEDO BORRARLO? Para que quede solo el nuevo? Quisiera saber asi no hago lios, por logica no deberia dificultarlo ya que se reemplazaria con el nuevo driver. Estoy equivocada?
Mi ASUS G751JT la compre hace menos de 2 axos y a los meses salto el error con la bateria, que esta conectada pero no carga, o por momentos dice "cargando" pero queda en 0, SIEMPRE. Solo anda enchufada y en "power saver", por lo cual muchas funciones no andan. Siempre la cuide al enchufarla, usarla, etc, pero salto este problema, la deje sin usar ,y ahora de nuevo viendo que poder hacer, ya que la bateria esta nueva, la use muy poco y comenzaron los problemas. GRACIAS! :)
