It’s games inside of a game. It’s very affable and it’s not like an fps where it’s the same shit over and over. The games amazing it will die when we die🤩
Being able to choose how you engage with the game is what has kept me playing. At one point I was a pet hunter, at another I wanted to max, and now I have found my favorite niche, boss hiscores. I'm rank 1 at one of the bosses. Grinding that rank 1 genuinely started becoming a life changing thing towards the end. Now my overarching goal is to gain as many simultaneous rank 1s as possible. But the nice thing is that I have ample ways to break up the rank 1 grinds. Last night for instance I decided to get my quest cape back by doing while guthix sleeps (mind you varlamore part 2 is out now lol). Now I've been having fun grinding tormented demons. I love that I'm never locked into something. I can always spice up my grinds. OSRS has transitioned into one of those consistent things in my life. At one point around 5 years ago it occupied an addictive place but for the last couple years I've engaged with it in a healthier way and have arguably gotten infinitely more done. There was a time when I couldn't play a game without having osrs open on the side. I had to always be progressing. But then I started doing more efficient methods and found that it wasn't worth my time playing at half efficiency at already slow methods. I started just enjoying others games when the urge to play came. As a result I would avoid burn out because I would consistently be refreshing my mind with other things. I feel a large part of this is age more than anything. I reached a point where I realized that everything ebbs and flows. Interests was and wane. By following the flow of things I find that I'm always refreshed. Trust your body. If a piece of content is just draining you go do something else. If the game is draining you go play something else. If games are draining you go do something else, go for a walk, do something creative, etc.
I'm new enough that nostalgia doesn't really apply, this game just really is one of a kind, the sheer diversity of ways of varying intensity to progress your account, the tile+tick system combining the best of real-time action and board-game-like precise decision making, the world design with so many little unassuming details which always come up in restricted account series, and so much more

You make a good point with the gloves. I can't stand Warcrafts endless expansions and a big part of that is because so much of the previous content becomes obsolete.

Exactly the same here, though I _may_ have started in 2005 when I was 11. It was one of those years, but I don't have a definitive date. I definitely played until EoC, and have been playing OSRS since 2013, on and off. This year has been my biggest year. In the last 8 months alone, I gained 100m total xp, got my quest cape, maxed my combat level, and went from 2 skill capes to 10.
Im new to this game, playing at 2023. All in all, the community of this game is of the best. Sometimes random dude just appear and give their torva lol. I just spent 7 hours from 98 to 99 smithing making ada pl8 body's. And yes I am still trying to max a lvl3 skiller with in a year. Might not make it. If you want to look me up. Rsn is ( lvl3 zombie )
Settled got me interested in UIM and mine has 2,312 hours in it now. Im still playing it while im watching this and having just as much fun as I did day 1
My account is osrs account is year 1 more or less. But a 10 year break has left me with so much content i am in love with perlious moons. Infact i am afking with the dual macus rn to get 100cb and get elite void!
It's worth pointing out that NCState banked the tickets to redeem for Agility exp at an extremely slow pace due to the sub-optimal method. If you did the normal Agi training method of Hallowed Sepulchre you can get 13-200m in about 1800 hours, or 5 hours a day over the course of a year.
I started a year ago maybe and played the game for maybe 3 months. Imo it works because the game is just absolutely massive. If the game was just skilling, I'd get bored, if it was just questing, I'd get bored. But with how it is, I can do some skilling, then I can do some quests, then I decide to get the Dragon defender, then I do some minigame and its all different, yet all feeds into each other. Rn I'm working do be able to do some pvm content, so I really feel like I'm just scratching the surface of the game, haven't even sideeyed pvp yet.

Started in February 2017, am currently at level 2051. I plan on getting all 99s and completing all quests. I would never go for 200 mil xp in any skill, lol. And I could not imagine spending 625 days of total playtime going for that in all of them.

The best part is that if you removed Third Age and the Stale Baguette from the collection log, that 140-year estimate to complete the collection log and 200m-all an account would be reduced to like 20k hours lmao
1241 hours into my latest account started last year in June/July total level 1817… the game has only just begun it’s more fun now than when I was a kid. 32 this year 😂

I think the reason it's so satisfactory is because these people have a community around them who encourage them and they also have the MEANS to accomplish said goal, both of which are extremely rare in 'real life'. EDIT: plus, the means to the goal are equal to everyone. There is no privilege or pay-to-win, which also adds to the appeal.
@@santigutierrezd818imagine finally achieving your goal of 200m in every skill, then turning off your laptop and realizing you have nothing, you live like a pig and it was all just a illusion. 20+ years of your life down the drain with absolutely nothing to show for it. These people need to be automatically placed on s-watch
Andrew said years n years n years ago, that he never thought anyone would get 99 in any skills. He said RuneScape was intended to never be finished. Around level 80 in anything you were maxed considerably. Like for combat there wasn’t no new max hit past 75. So at level 81 strength you could stil only smack 24’s with a run long. Hit 14’s with ur bare fist. Tron1000 FTW
Well, that changed radically, of course. Now, depending on items used, melee max hit is actually 97/99 Strength. If you pot beyond that, you can reach like 108 for certain setups for another max hit bracket. (In RS3, some skills actually go to level 120 (i.e. 104m XP). But you gather XP much faster there, in general.) But much of the game still shows this anti-99 mentality, given the lack of end-game content for most skills. Until recently, almost everything capped out in the 70s or 80s. Now, it's in the 90s for many skills -- but the fastest methods for XP are typically low-level methods, of course. For every quest and task, etc., you also only need 80s and a few 90s as of 2024. Note: Source, I think, for the brothers' claim is the RS 15th anny video from some years go. He said that he never thought anybody would be 99. The only clear case of 99 content around this time was Smithing, of course. He also just randomly capped it at 200m, rounding down from level 127. Since his aim wasn't level 99, this might explain the 10% inc over each level (which means, it's 2x XP every 7 levels). This is why level 92 is half, not level 50. Makes OSRS very strange and unique, and makes high levels very much praised by others. This was clearly shown a few years later with skill capes. It seems skill capes became the primary display of wealth, even beyond Party Hats around 2006. People put all their GP into buyable capes such as Prayer and Herblore. However, by 2008, people shifted back into the costly rares and otherwise items, as opposed to 99s/skill capes (though they were still important into the 2010s). P.S. Somebody in my clan said max hit is like 200 now, but it's not normally that high. Still, certain weapons can easily deal 50 damage, far beyond the early days of the game.
I love potatohime, I just watched one of her videos for the first time yesterday and it was so entertaining. nice that you put a spotlight on her, she needs more subscribers!
It’s because of the hours that are invested into the game is why people keep playing it. If you invest 300 days of playing time into your account ofc you’re not going to want to stop. That would be opting out of the time investment you have committed to.
talking about mid game. i was an end game player for close to a decade and finally decided to try ironman. its like im playing a different game. never thought how fun early and mid game is now
That's because RS was actually designed more around an ironman framework. Other than a few things, the game makes way more sense -- though it does make certain goals, such as rare drops and 99s far more difficult (but these were not the aim in the early 2000s). In 2001, it was so 'ironman' the bank didn't even store items, just coins (for about 3 months). That means, it was not just ironman but UIM for some time. After that, many still played in an ironman-like framework, rarely trading players -- and no G.E. for years! The end-game was the mid-game, in most ways. Very good progression system, and far less content, of course. Even still, OSRS has a decent mid-game on regular mode compared with many MMORPGs, which have not only terrible mid-game but end-game, too. Sometimes no early game, just right into mid-game. OSRS and ironman mode on RS3, too (not reg so much) actually have a well-defined and progressive early-game, mid-game, and end-game. It's quite well-designed. You cannot get a sense of just how good OSRS is until you play WoW and Warframe and many other examples of far worse MMO frameworks, with terrible end-game cycles, a broken mid-game, and horrible player-to-monster progression brackets, and less than ideal drop and BiS systems (not that RS is perfect, of course). (Not to mention RS's amazing server/world hopping system, which is better than any game I've seen. Almost every online game requires a stupid cooldown before changing worlds and/or completely shuts you out due to lack of servers or low player cap. RS used to be worse, but OSRS and RS3 are remarkable for this. Just endlessly hop into worlds without issue and for free, no payment beyond the sub, or none at all if you're F2P. As I said, most other games are way worse than this and have a really bad server system of pay-walls and waiting times, and lack of lobby structure, and/or otherwise issues.) Of course, mid-game questing is also great on OSRS and RS3, unlike most other MMOs. Ironman Mode also cuts out other issues like loot box/gambling systems on RS3, the whole nightmare of the G.E. in both RS3 and OSRS, and some other things, such as time-gates (RS3 has some issues but not much, not compared with Warframe and some others). I do think the shop system and heavy focus on mini-games has been a problem for OSRS, though! Note: I play F2P UIM. :)
If Runescape has proved anything, it is that game developers need limits on how much they require players to play in order to complete everything the game has to offer. For we have seen more than enough proof that gamers can't save them from themselves when setting out for an insane goal
Many of them are alts or bots, for sure. On F2P there are like 5 accounts with 200m Magic. NO OTHER XP. Clearly either AFK splashers or alching bots, or just alching alts. The rest are actual players, though, for the top spots. No idea about random low-rank players. Clearly, for something like Mining on F2P, many of the players with not much XP elsewhere and weird-looking names are bots. Easy to spot. They don't really impact top spots -- since they don't train many skills on a single account, and some even get banned before they can sit on high score for too long. For P2P, likely many bots, for sure. Likely same kind of thing as F2P, only here bots will focus on combat and RC, not Mining so much.
why does it show him rank 2 on agility but you check yourself on the actual osrs highscores and he aint even there and rank 1 is somehow rank 5 now i thought you perma locked your spot first come ?

104m XP). But you gather XP much faster there, in general.)
But much of the game still shows this anti-99 mentality, given the lack of end-game content for most skills.
I'm about to get 200mil rc xp myself.
Afk'ing watching yt at work. Currently about to get 195mil rc xp. Almost there!
That’s why I play rsps. Just as rewarding as RuneScape. High scores and all. Just don’t have to grind as long. There’s still a grind
I never payed a single dollar to Jagex.
Just the grind out of F2P is sick
talking about mid game. i was an end game player for close to a decade and finally decided to try ironman. its like im playing a different game. never thought how fun early and mid game is now
That's because RS was actually designed more around an ironman framework.
As I said, most other games are way worse than this and have a really bad server system of pay-walls and waiting times, and lack of lobby structure, and/or otherwise issues.)
Of course, mid-game questing is also great on OSRS and RS3, unlike most other MMOs.
If you have no discipline or self-control that’s on you, not the developer.
Ngl 3:30 scared me
Lol simple jump scares are the worst
r
runescape is without any doubt a unique game, ppl are just addicted to those juicy pixels
✨ A U T I S M ✨
glorified autism is abundant on this game and it shows.
I never played OSRS until over two years ago and I’m old so there’s no nostalgia factor for me. I’m at about 130 days playtime
More playtime than me and i play since release hahahaha
Osrs players just know how to have fun 😅
My first question is how many bots are on the highscores? No mention of that
Many of them are alts or bots, for sure.
UIM Life is Best Life
Thumbs up for skribulino
no, your not a nobody, you changed my life
Thanks MSN guy
5:39 wow I had no idea these had tongues.
For real tho, we NEED some reward for 200M xp in a skill!

Its the journey to becoming sigma that is worth the 200million exp.
5:55 thats why we are still alive and better than ever. and u can TRY to copy this and TRY to make millions of dolars but the advantage this game has is that in this game we can be a true gamer and be who ever you are and people are ok with it because u just know this game is full of freaks since the dawn of time (i include myself ofc).look for a second the luring scene, thats not new. fashionscape and completionism community?? ooh boy. and u can just keep going with the unique aproaches and ways of experiencing this game there are-- and thats something that with the inclusive and woke BS going around rotting every sheeple's brain is not gonna be possible to achieve on todays era. so fuck yes this is a unique project that even its own creators play for sure on their freetime cause thats how amazing this is. im an 04 player and ive put too many hours aswell on this.. but theres nothing like this so im glad im doing it.
8:05 toilet island
Wooooo91 is closer in terms of ehp left (he has done slower skills)
Imagine being UIM and cheating by death banking... The whole point was not to have a bank and yet you use a bank. Alright.
6:25 what game is this?
Maple Story
I play runesape because I got off drugs and need something to occupy my free time😂
UIM is just a time sink, everything just takes longer and is more annoying, not really difficult or impressive imo.
HCIM is the only real challenge on RS
facts
I live my life 7 minutes at a time
Bro called us old :(
I love us =o
So this is why UIMs have such an inflated ego
It's a shame jagex are BEYOND useless when it comes to account recovery
Hey you forgot to kiss me goodbye :(
