Glad this video was helpful for you! I don't have a video on animating pages, but it's so much easier now with 7.1. There are lots of options by just adding blank sections and choosing one of their suggested templates for the section. You can also click on any photo and see a few animating options. Probably the most control would be to create a video on Canva/Adobe etc. and upload it, using the video feature, which can autoplay your stored video. Hope that gives you a few ideas. Good luck and have fun!
In order to have google index your website do you have to agree to cookie collection from the website? I guess what I am asking is if google collects visitor data in order to index the pages?
These are two separate things. So simply put... No, indexing your website does not track visitor data. It's so that your site shows up on Google. Longer answer: Google Indexing is submitting a site map and individual page urls as per this video. Here's the basic definition: "A page is indexed by Google if it has been visited by the Google crawler ("Googlebot"), analyzed for content and meaning, and stored in the Google index. Indexed pages can be shown in Google Search results." VERSUS Google Analytics - adding a Google tracking ID to your website to gather information about visits, conversions, etc. You can learn more about that at support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815608
@@ivyandlight Thank you so much, I am planning to block IP addresses from the UK and EU from accessing my website because of the GDPR. I won't be doing any tracking on my website and I am writing my website privacy policy so I wondered if the indexing fell into the analytics. Thanks for clarifying. Really appreciate it.
Curious, as I'm not too knowledgeable on this subject. But if I submit the Url for indexing. Then it gets approved. And I make a change to the page later on. Do I have to re-submit the page for indexing? I submitted a request for several pages. And my website is done. But for SEO purposes. I just need to go to all of my images, and change the file names and alt texts
Hi Ryan, Any time you add or make changes to a page on your site, you can request that Google re-index your page using either the URL inspection or resubmitting your sitemap (more info here developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl) If you believe the changes you are making will be very important for improving your SEO, I'd go ahead and resubmit. If you make minor changes that won't affect SEO or how you want your page to appear in Google search, then it's not necessary to resubmit each time.
I don't know of a Squarespace extension or plugin that will take the action of requisitions google page indexing for you. It's a really simple task though, that can be easily outsourced to a virtual assistant if you'd rather not handle it yourself. I image it MIGHT be possible using using a zap in Zapier automation, but I haven't researched that, personally. Here's a list of the SquareSpace extensions, if you want to double check the current options (www.squarespace.com/extensions/home) For third party plugins, they should have their own specific tutorial for how to connect to Squarespace - this will basically be copying and pasting their code into the homepage or specific page of your website. If you're interested in a video on the basics of inserting page code, let me know :)
Have you verified your website with Google? This is step one. Step two would be to submit a site map. Then from there you can follow the instructions in the video to check specific pages and get any new pages indexed as quickly as possible. For details on verifying your website and submitting the site map check out this article on SquareSpace help. support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205813918-Verifying-your-site-with-Google-Search-Console Hope this helps get it resolved for you!
Still trying to troubleshoot this one. I don't work with Squarespace all that much but in the coverage report the past year or so I've had a ton of page go to "Discovered - currently not indexed" in Search Console. This has been across 3 or 4 Squarespace sites. For whatever reason it seems to much worse with Squarespace than any other CMS I have dealt with.
Sorry to hear you've been having the same experience with SquareSpace, Brian! At least I know I'm not the only one though ;) Hope you're able to figure out a more permanent solution for avoiding the issue in the first place. I can't imagine having to do this for multiple websites. I will say, though, that by taking a moment to submit new pages as soon as I add them, it doesn't seem like such a hassle anymore, now that I'm all caught up. Best of luck to you!
Hi! My square space main pages are indexed but none of my blog posts and even though I request them they never get done? I’m really stuck as my website is more of a blog so it’s super important 😞
Hi Erin, I know that’s gotta be so frustrating! I’ve noticed that it can take several weeks for the blog posts to get indexed. And also that my blogs that don’t get much traffic sometime become de-indexed, so I then request again. First I’d check that you’re following all good practices as far as word count, SEO key words, url etc. and if everything seems good there then I’d recommend emailing Squarespace Help and sharing exactly what you’ve done and the result (or lack thereof). I’ve found the SS customer service to be pretty helpful any time I have questions. Also if you haven’t pinned them all (or it’s been awhile) try that as a method to create some traffic. Any/ all of these might help Google see them as valuable content to index. Best of luck! 💖🙌🏼
Hi Oliver, if you're trying to connect a sitemap from SquareSpace for the first time then I recommend connecting to Google Search Console first via SquareSpace settings. Then head over to Google Search Console and follow the simple instructions to connect your sitemap. It should be able to pull from SquareSpace at that point. Hope that helps! I've never personally had an issue with this on any of my sites, and I'm not a google expert enough to know about all the potential problems. But I bet there are some great TH-cam videos on that specific question "submit SquareSpace sitemap to google console" that could be even more helpful. Good Luck! Erin
I’ve been on 7.1 since they launched it (recreated my site since you couldn’t transfer the info back then). There are definitely some of the performance scores on Google that don’t make much sense (especially about mobile usability) but I haven’t noticed any major issues affecting my web traffic since I completed all the steps I share in this video.
Hy you'r doing tremendous but I have one problem. I have posted over 80 posts but only 20 pages are showing on the search console. plz reply how can I solve this
Hi! You’ll need to request indexing, as I show in the video. Then you’ll have to wait for Google to process your request. Unfortunately this may take days or weeks. But once you’ve requested that the pages be indexed, you’ve done your part to fix the problem. Going forward, I recommend immediately requesting indexing for any new page, to get the process started faster.
@@ivyandlight No bro you didn't get what I'm saying. I said i have around 90 posts on my website but in google search console it's only showing 6 indexed pages and 4 are not indexed means it is not showing proper data. Can u plz tell me how can i get all data
I’m not a bro or a Google expert - just a small business owner who found, and then shared, solution to a specific issue I was having. However, if your issue is with Google not seeing pages on your site, that sounds like more of an issue with an outdated site map. You could try resubmitting your site map and waiting a few days to see if the pages start showing in your console. I still recommend following the video instructions for requesting indexing, especially for those pages that are most important to you. If neither of these things solves your problem, then it’s beyond my limited scope, and I’d recommend reaching out to Google for direct answers. Best of luck!
Thanks for sharing...but you didn't say...how or from where copy those pages....i understand from each page of our web site....but how?…… not sure, mine in Google console says...url not in property!…… not sure what its different than what you are doing....and do you think why?
Hi Suriya, you're correct that all you need to do is copy and paste the url from your website, exactly as it appears in the url bar at the top of your internet browser. It sounds like your issue is because the url that you have set up for google is not the same as your main url for your website. These are the three basic elements of a website URL: The protocol - HTTP or HTTPS. The domain name (including the TLD) that identifies a site. The path leading to a specific web page. My guess is that you have https for one and http for the other. Double check that the beginning of your url is the exact same. In the google search console you will see a "grayed-out" sentence in the search bar. Mine says Inspect any URL in "www.ivyandlight.com/" so if I put a url that starts with it gives me that exact error message you mentioned. Hope that helps! -Erin

You might like to know how.....on the left top, Google console, I clicked + and past again my url and added....this time, the correct one accepted....then I inspected....however for 2 of my pages....give an error again....but then I clicked on (test live url) then google find them....n all pages are indexed now😊.....thank you again for sharing n responding to your messages 🙏🌺🙏🌺.....do u have any idea....why 2of my pages at first in inspection, Google can't find them, as I described?
