My hot take is that Jason just fundamentally does not work as a villain. I know trauma changes people and stuff but Jason does some really heinous stuff as a villain and no amount of trauma can make someone who was once so compassionate talk about using children as fodder in a gang war lol. It just isn’t believable, he works better as an anti-hero
@@maskedcrusaderings I was most entertained by the RHTO stuff personally, but I think his best fit is a combination of crime lord and prince of Gotham. The idea of Batman working with Gotham's kingpin at the same time as the commissioner blurs the lines for the Bat again.
Well, they made it work by pretending that Jay had never been a sweet, starry-eyed kid and always had a violent streak, which in reality had come out of nowhere shortly before A Death in the Family. The more fundamental issue is that you can either have a "fallen son" firmly outside the Batfamily, who kills people, or you can have a "cool son" firmly inside the Batfamily, who doesn't, but you can't have someone going back and forth; it ruins all the characters.
All that trauma and realizing your mentor/father keep the person who killed you alive would make ANYONE a villian. Brain damage plus Lazarus pit plus his own issues being a orphan from Gotham. He never had a chance
@@HELLO_KORO Outlaws 2016 was when they finally picked up steam 2011 was a disaster and it was a PR nightmare to retain Lobdell with the sa allegations/public sexual harrasment, and even then it had it's flaws. The one thing I would keep is the romance with Jason Todd and Artemis but that will probably be canned as she already tied the knot with a female amazonian.
How to fix Red Hood is to have him constantly battle with wanting to be good but finding himself falling back on it being easier to go the lethal route. I think it works best when he alternates between being paired with the rest of the bat family and a couple of solo adventures like the outlaw era. The bonds of brotherhood with his fellow Robin's and batgirl help keep him on the straight and narrow but when he's on his own can he keep walking that line? It would also be good to introduce a dark mirror for him. Someone that represents that villain era Red Hood that he can measure his growth against but also tempt him to fall back on his old ways.
giving him a counterpart would be great for his character, idk how it’d be done or who it could possibly be but it would bring some easy consistent conflict without having to just 180 his character
This might not work because fighting that urge is not a stable state/ status quo. Meaning it can be an excellent premise for maybe a run or two but it demands resolution i.e. succumbing to violence fully reforming. You cannot make this struggle over morality last more than a few years else it gets old. You need a status quo that is at least semi stable and can be usable for decades
I honestly think keeping jason a killer would work better (unless he enters gotham, where he abides by batman's no killing rule). It would be neat to have stories centering around Jason stomping out criminal gangs and figuring out when to kill and when to spare, as well as delve into how he fights when hes forced not to kill. Give him some stories where chases down a drug cartel that flees fo gotham, where he has to change tactics and work with others, give him a b plot where he reconnects with other human beings, and slowly becomes less angry. I'm only saying this becaue I think jason kind of is the flaw in batman's ideology, where batman's inability to kill resulted in his death.
@@silverprimus321boi9 I can see that. Maybe have things come to a head with batman and possibly the rest of the family where Jason says that yes murder is wrong, but killing to preserve your life and/or the lives of others is justifiable. And if it isn't then how does Bruce justify maiming all the people he's beaten, stabbed and blown up with batarangs over the years? As a highly trained martial artist he would know a fair bit about broken bones, torn ligaments, bruised and ruptured organs, and traumatic brain injuries. Those people might still be breathing, but living might well be off the table. He could also lay all the people that the various batman villains have killed at Bruce's feet as well. Batman is a vigilante; any evidence he finds is worthless in court. Ergo; every time he takes down the Joker or whoever else, they're basically slapped on the wrist. Maybe have this lead to a tense compromise where killing is on the table for self-defense and defending others only on a trial basis.
I honestly feel like missed a real good opportunity to have Jason as another big brother figure for Damian to show what a potentially killer Robin looked like. It would have been a good means to redeem Jason and play off him having a sort of soft spot for him seeing the aggression in the kid. But they never really went that route. Like you could still have him find the good role model big bro aspect of Nightwing but then have Jason be the cool brother that initially seems like a bad influence but he reluctantly wants to be better for his little brother. That'd be the best route movie-wise, using a slightly toned down Bat Family Jason.
I really don’t get why they never get paired up, like how Nightwing is more similar to Tim so they have some nice moments, how do Jason and Damian NEVER get paired up? They are literally the same except Damian got redeemed quicker, and it’s not like they don’t know it too, they’ve referenced it a couple times but they just leave it there, they don’t do anything with it
They honestly did a few times. In the new52 and in rebirth there have been moments with the two that highlight Jason coming off as a big brother but the writers need to get more consistent. It’s like they get a long one minute then it’s the opposite and they damn near fighting to the death.
Considering Jason Todd grew up on the streets before becoming Robin, kinda make sense that he would be a bit more cut-throat compared to Dick, who was raised by his family before the incident and meeting Bruce. Dick had stability, and Jason had the exact opposite.
That’s why Jason is my favorite 🫡. My parents were crackheads by the time I turned 13 so I would steal food and clothes to survive. I was on the streets a lot and did things I am not proud of. I’m doing good now I always managed to keep faith and hope.
Red Hood killing his enemies is what makes him unique, especially in DC and as a member of Batman's world. Having him travel around the world solo tracking down criminals and killing them could lead to really fun and interesting stories, occasionally crossing paths with other heroes who are too keen on his methods leading to confrontations that could impact both characters. Having him put down the guns and hang out with the bat fam just doesn't sit right with me, especially if joker is still around wreaking havoc.
Thank You! The way I've always percieved dealing with Jason is through two paths. Path 1: Keep Jason dead, keep the consequences of a kid getting into this life there keep that a remainder to Batman that this vigilante gig creates a world that isn't for a kid to get involved in and to make him just stop taking more kid sidekicks. Path 2: He returns as Red Hood, he is someone who isn't afraid of crossing the line that Batman is afraid of. But, don't make him go around killing everything that moves in his way and being jealous of the other guys that replaced him...He only kills absolute scum of the earth. Make him struggle with who deserves punishement and who can be redeemed and rehabilitated, and when he teams up with other Bat people it should always be on HIS TERMS or simply just don't make them team up. Him existing as Red Hood and him crossing the line is THE CONSEQUENCE of what happened to him on the hands of Joker ''Fixing'' or ''Developing'' him to just be part of the Batfamily again removes that consequence and removes what's unique about him and about his background growing up. Don't let him just become another Batgroupie who is just there for the cute and wholesome moments or the money shot during team-ups...That way he becomes a grumpier Nightwing in a different attire.
@@LP1ToTheEndOfTime Exactly. My perception of Red Hood is based on his depiction in the Under the Red Hood movie and the the way Jason is written now and what he did in the comics after that event going full villain just don't line up with who I perceive Jason to be. He's the one who will stay and comfort someone going through hell like Batman would, but he's also willing to saying when enough is enough. Crossing that line not only because he does take some satisfaction in wiping scum from the earth(which is important to show he doesn't always have the moral high ground and makes for more interesting stories), but because he personally has been on the receiving end of what these monsters are capable of.
One thing I hate about the bat family is, in the three jokers story, when Jason kills one of the jokers, barbrah gets mad at him, the same joker who crippled her, and did alot of fucked up shit to her, and not to mention, before they came across the joker, they saw a swimming pool full of people he killed, and yet she's mad at Jason for killing a monster, bat fam would cry if they couldn't stop hitler from killing himself, They would save Ted bundy even if he killed hundreds of people, Jason is in the right for killing Gotham's psychopaths
@@mitab1 Yeah, what people get wrong about Red Hood fans is that they think they are advocating for Jason to kill every criminal in his path. NO! We advocate for him to kill those who deserve it, those who can't be contained instead of depending on a broken revolving door system to do the job that they are too incompetent to ever do while costing more innocents their lives. But problem with ongoing continuity and Batman's popularity, is that the biggest scumbags need to be kept around to sell more books and Batman has to always be right so, to make the audience automatically ignore Jason's point of view, just turn him into a complete psychopath and the readers will automatically side with Batman. When you think of it, the no-kill rule of many of those superheroes didn't come about because the editors thought it was the morally right thing to do, instead, they thought it was the commercially right thing to do to get more readers and keep kids buying the comics after the CCA was imposed and that reasoning just bleeds in every story, where Batman, for example, would be okay with slitting Jason's throat than let him kill the cash cow known as The Joker even though he was characterized previously to be okay with letting someone else murder scumbags like Lex and The Joker... Yeah, DC would go against established characterization to keep those motherfuckers alive to get more stories and sell more event books with Gotham or Metropolis being a warzone again. Bruce, once upon a time, went to the court to make sure Freeze doesn't get an undeserved punishment, but DC never made him go to court to make sure someone like Joker gets the punishment he deserves that's been long-overdue.
@@mitab1 I don't know about "right". Understandable and justified, absolutely. Batman and the gang believes in rehabilitation, hope that even someone as twisted as the Joker can be saved from themselves. In Joker's case specifically we'll never see that possibility outside of elseworld stories like White Knight, because DC needs Joker to be a villain to maintain the status quo and sell books. The whole "why doesn't anyone kill Joker" argument will never have a satisfying conclusion in universe, the only real answer is a meta one. Unfortunately the longer they continue going and the stakes and the heinous crimes Joker commits keep rising, the more the audiences suspension of disbelief is strained.
If we were to introduce Jason into the movies, we can tie him into Damien by saying that after Jason was revived and still with the league of assassins, he was in charge of training Damien in order to get a better understanding of the bat family. Then you can have him hunt Damien down when he chooses Batman over the league
Talking about Artemis being the odd one out of the Dark Trinity. Don't forget that she did take over for Diana and became Wonder Woman in the 90s and was considered to be a more violent version. So that's probably why they included her as part of the Dark Trinity
The issue I have with Jason despite him being my favorite bat family member is exactly this. They never know what to do with him and end up going back on really good amazing plot points for some reason. Like, him giving up the guns was an amazing step for his character who'd spent so long in his anger trying to kill criminals because he thought it was the only solution given his death and Talia's manipulations. But than Task Force Z happens, and now he's chasing the Joker across the everywhere with guns again too and it's just really weird to me that they can't for some reason take the time to integrate him into the actual batfamily again and do things with his siblings and reconnect with alfred and such.
I think the best approach for Jason is yes let him give up guns. Just after task force z. DC should of given him his own book or even bring back red hood and the outlaws. Even bringing back Red hood and Arsenal as a duo trying to figure out what they want to do with there lives. have Roy focus on Lian and Jason trying to be a better person. Even being inspired by Roy to settle down and start a family with Rose or Artemis. Just something to change the characters progress.
I think it's an interesting idea to have him potentially settle down. But I'd disagree on resurrecting the Outlaws, it's already well treaded ground to begin with and doesn't add much to his character. I'd also disagree with guns part, but that's purely because any time since New 52 that he has them they turn him into this wannabe Punisher character. I think that if Jason is going to be using guns that he take lives. And if he's taking lives then I don't want him to be a Punisher knockoff. Make him a crime lord again or have him continue the casino he'd gotten involved in. In terms of original ideas for him the options are limitless. There's no reason he couldn't go off on his own like Damian does to better understand himself and make peace with who he wants to be. Which seemed like the idea they were going to work with after Task Force Z, but instead he hyper focuses on the Joker again. I just want some actual character development for him as a person. And the two main ways we could do that would either be him officially and permanently breaking away from Batman to be on his own or to fully reconcile with the family. I'm tired of this in between and flip flopping the writers always do
@@anarchy9756 True another option and I do enjoy his dynamic with this team. Is have him join the Titans. I do enjoy Titans united, Just this time it's Jason working with other heroes without a gun. Maybe using the all caste blades as one of his main weapons.
@@noctisluciscaelum211 I could totally see that being an evolution of his character. It would also allow an exploration for potential developments to Dick and Jason's relationship as brothers.
I think the problem is personal some writers don’t really know how to handle all these bat kids. All these problems with red hood are also there with Tim and Damian they don’t know or aren’t sure what to do. That’s why Tim’s changed names 5 different times and Damian keeps being reset too having trouble not killing when it’s something he already learned not to do or at least not everyone deserves to get 🔪 with Bruce and dick when he was Batman
We have too many bat kids now with Jace and other bat characters like Ghost maker and clownhunter. I think the problem is DC wants to keep the batkids in gotham which is not helping any of them. Damian training with the other warriors on Lazarus island was genius. Even having his own group of friends. As for Jason after the outlaws disbanded and task force z got shut down. He's back to scare one chasing the Joker. I would of liked it if DC just brought back the outlaws with a new team and Jason just travelling around the country taking down different crime lords and corrupt governments. As for Tim DC needs to either give him back his red robin persona and give him another chance of finding his path. Maybe finding another city that isn't Gotham.
Lets pretend that original title didnt happen... lol, I'd keep it if TH-cam wouldnt demontize or remove the entire video lol. Anyway, check out Mangastorian! th-cam.com/channels/RR7REQ6a0K3hOHNVdgBPcA.html
I think a good idea with Jason is to have him pick up where Grayson left off in terms of secret organizations and spy stories. I would combine Grifter (Cole Cash) with Jason. A lot of people mistake them for the same. He’d be DC’s answer to The Winter Soldier. It add a little more variety to DC comics and cut down on the redundancy.
Good idea I mean the spy shot would really work better for Jason than it ever did for Dick really but I think it wouldn’t hold too long just cuz Jason wouldn’t want to be under someone else’s control for too long, and idk about joining him with grifter, I get it but it would make shit soooo much more convoluted and plus I don’t think Wildstorm would just want to give up their character like that
Maybe they fumbled not putting Jason as the spy but it creates an even bigger redundancy to basically put him in a story similar to Grayson, each Robin should stay away from the others thing like Damains the assassin, Tims the detective and Dicks the spy. the problem is Jason didnt get something like this to stick. the thing that made him different is that he's like the anti hero but they can't justify him being it and staying around the batfamily unlike they can with someone like Damian or Orphan as both were young and were kind of groomed into those roles and at times Damain goes back to that. his character plays out in so many different ways he's either the best of the bat family or the worst. like stories like DCeased and even the ending of the apokolopis war animated movie or bad ones like the 666 one or batman beyond where he goes back to the league of assassins and it postures him in each direction Jason either gets boring or goes nowhere, because his things being anti batman. he either doesn't grow and stays cool but predictable or he gives it up and he just becomes an extra in the batfamily almost
Red Hood could be a deep character for DC. He is the ultimate symbol for “the ends justify the means”. I could see him becoming a Punisher type character but Red Hood lacks that inner struggle that makes Punisher easier to make stories for. DC has never really explored Jason’s upbringing. They just gave us a couple stories here and there and that’s it. The problem with Red Hood is that he isn’t a deep character. He literally just popped back up on the scene and that was that. Red Hood theme of doing bad things to do good things could be something that fans could get very interested in and provide DC a way to flesh him out. That’s why the Red Hood Dark Trinity worked.
Jason Todd for me works when he is an Anti-Villain that challenges Batman and gets results via dubious means. He's basically the Punisher but with a long term plan and his method of reducing crime via becoming a crime lord and keeping it under his control seems like a decent plan if Batman would just let him do it. That being said he needs a strong moral code that wants to defend the innocent and a good relationship with the other characters (Namely: Dick, Tim, and Barbara.)
Honestly I love the idea of doing the Under The Red Hood story but with Damian playing a central role as well. I feel like there’s a lot of story potential between Batman fearing the loss of another son, Damian discovering what happened to Jason Todd, and Red Hood trying to convince Damian that Batman’s ideology wrong and is only going to lead to his death.
I love the trucker cap! I personally like when regular clothes get incorporated into the hero suit. Like Black Canary's leather jacket or the jackets the X-Men wore in the 90's, or how the Spider verse leaves Miles in street clothes and the suit is under them. It makes it kinda realistic and also handy because it's less to change when they have to hero up and save the day.
I think in the Death of the Family Joker forced Jason and TIm to fight in Tim's book.....it was hilarious because TIm gives a monologue about how theyre brothers and Redhood just puts a gun to his head and Tim's like "this is why no one likes you
I think my biggest problem with DC and Red Hood just like many other characters is the always "they need to be redeemed" point that many writers and readers think a character needs. I was upset when they seemed to want to do that with Superboy Prime in the one issue that eventually got cancelled. There are people who don't want the characters to be redeemed. Have they redeemed the Joker forever? Made any of the superheroes a canonical villain permanently that is one of the main in the Justice League? So why change from what made him popular just because he is the black sheep of the Bat family? Keep him as Batman's greatest failures as they do with his constant backstory. Keep him as that one that doesn't agree with Batman's way of running Gotham. Keep him as their biggest problem because he knows too much about the Bat family and can cause big problems for them. That would be excellent to see just what that trauma and betrayal did. Like comics do in comic world, they aren't real. If they can come back to life over and over again, they can stay evil or villains. They make it more complicated or listen to fans too damn much.
Honestly i would like a Red Hood book where he moves into a city with a huge mafia / mob presence that doesn't have a resident hero ( similar to dick when he became Nightwing and moved to BludHaven) and he pretty much starts from ground zero and basically just becomes a lethal protector of this city and works to take down all mafia influence. I honestly prefer Jason to have more grounded stories / villains so i feel this direction would work best as a start. Then over time they could start to build up Jason's own rouges gallery and start to amp things up and start crafting him some potentially iconic storylines around said rouges. He could also have his own supporting cast (not other bat family members) and we can start to see him form relationships with these supporting characters and his rouges and start to really build up his own separate ( yet still connected to the bat family for certain storylines and cross overs ) mythos in his own little corner of the DC. This is just a thought i always have as a huge Red Hood fan. would love to see them take an approach like this to the character and ACTUALLY let it stick and give us a full run of a book like this instead of having super off the wall stories and Teams in his books. If executed properly i feel like this direction could really flesh Jason as a character out more and give us more Red Hood stories to be adapted into other media instead of them just constantly re-using the Under The Red Hood storyline. Imo his rouges gallery and his storylines should be more grounded in street crime , drugs , trafficking , etc. Red Hood works best when his story is more grounded / street level. One more little thing : if they were ever to take this direction I don't want to constantly see a clash of Jason's and Batman's ideals. I feel they should let them disagree on each others approach to things but have Batman except Jason's methods since Jason would be operating in his own city with his own gallery of rouges / the mafia. Tbh I don't even want other members of the Bat Family to appear in Jason's book often. I have some other more detailed ideas but these are the main ones I feel would work if DC would actual give an author free reign to give Jason a true direction to go in. Please let me know what you guys think of my ideas under this comment. Would love to hear opinions on my opinion lol .
I have thought of this for the longest time. Red hood is my favorite bat member but he definitely needs his own story. And he definitely works better as someone more Street level
Jason being more street level would make him a nice foil to Bruce's billionaire/Justice League shenanigans. It also fits with his street kid background!
What you don't mention is the popularity of the animated movie and the Arkham games where the character at this point mostly known for. The comics are always reluctant to detach too far from what potential new readers already perceive the character to be. Also want to mention the Three Jokers story had my favorite depiction of the character since the movie.
What happened to JT being a red head? Im guessing it made batman seem over the line insane forcing this child to look like his previous favorite child. I actually prefer the black with white streak anyways mostly because (depending on the art) sometimes it's the only thing that differentiates a room full of maskless robins from one another.
We need the white streak because even good comic artists struggle to make three teenagers/young adults with black hair look different. Same reason we need colorful costumes in comics
I swear that every time Benny said "Battle for the Cowl" it came out as "Battle for the Cow." I'd so be there to read a story about a fight to gain control of BatCow.
The thing is he was made to be an anti-hero so he cannot kill(No anti-hero in DC kills anymore including huntress) and he is not a villain, there is as well the idea of making him some type of punisher but in his origin he just wanted to kill joker and would have no problem not killing others unless needed, so DC basically lost the idea of the character
Honestly I feel like the only true resolutions for Jason is an older but more militaristic batman who understands that while compassion is needed some people need to just be killed. Or a fully matured mentor that sees the error of his old ways and because of that reaches out to help train new batfamily.
Honestly they should really just stick with Red Hood being an Anti-hero because I found that to be the best overall rather than him being a complete evil villian since he is essentially good but he just kills his villians. He just works better as the black sheep that the batfamily only works with on rare occasions.
He works best outside the Batfamily, they can't have a hero who kills hang out in Gotham all willy nilly,he needs a city for himself like Nightwing does and a consistent genre of enemies, fighting against super criminals like he did in early rebirth worked, all the magic, aliens and multiverse shit is way outta his league
I think Gunn should look at how the winter soldier was used and essentially copy that to make sure people still sympathize with him and don’t see him as just a villain
@@BabyGirlTiny Urban legends had Jason taking care of a kid after he killed his father and in Outlaws rebirth we saw Jason being a caretaker for Bizarro whose like baby brained Superman. Under the RedHood mostly had him as a mass murderer with daddy issues.
It's so sad to see how inconsistent almost ANY character gets over time. I've come to enjoy characterizations by fans so much more since they actually make consistent choices that are logical... It's sad to see how much 'canon' ruins it :( that being said, great video man! Very very informative!!
I would like to see maybe Jason being Arkham knight first and do the whole Batman with guns thing and then realise he shouldn’t kill then become red hood who is still brutal but less killy
I would love if you make one for every robin (and Barbara). Nightwing would be tough to nitpick though Since Damien is here to stay, Tim does not have an obvious path to move beyond being Robin and every writer is either beating around the bush or is straight up incompetent (Bendis's revolutionary idea to call him Drake).
In the whole Hush story. It turned out that it actually was Jason, and got replaced by Clayface at the very ending when Jason hides behind a wall or something like that. Talia wanted him to become his own version of the Bat, Jason was hell bent on revenge and Talia thought for a while that yes he needed to work through it. But didn't really go anywhere either. Also don't forget that he was also a part of the Court of Owls storyline. Where he was "integral" by protecting a side of the city or something. I love Jason, but I agree. His story is a bit of a mess. Outlaws was a good start, I liked it. Jason did sleep with Starfire but it didn't last long either. She dates Arsenal for a while and that had its own issues and got completely disregarded when she got her own series again. Dark Trinity was fun. Up until the space ship. They shouldn't have made Bizarro smart like that. (Though Jason really loving his jetpack felt right. Lol) I'd love a proper Red Hood in James Gunn's movie line up. But then one that is taking a few movies to flesh out. Or where he simply is and how he works around the Bat. Good video. Love the rant, lol.
I would say they should take inspiration from these characters, punisher, winter soldier, Raphael, and jinx. The mission and determination of the punisher, the ptsd, and abilities of winter soldier, the anger and attitude of raph, and the execution of jinx from arcane.
Honestly I say let him be Batman with guns. There's actually a really good interaction with him and Tim in the new 52. In the Outlaws where Tim explains to him that he's not as naive as the rest of the family and that they need someone around who can do the things they can't that there is a time for more ruthless methods. Jason's reckless abandon lets the rest of them work within the confines of Batman's rules. I also really like it when he and Tim are friendly towards each other like in webtoons or Batman & Robin Eternal where they're paired up and try to get info from a Bar and he asks Tim if he wants a drink. Tim says no he's under age and Jason just kinda looks at him as if that's a reason not to have a beer. I think it makes a lot of sense now with the introduction of Damien they're both the middle children now and one is all books and logic while the other is a blunt instrument.
4:35 They didn't decide that it would be fun to tease Jason being back. They wanted Hush to be Jason, with Tommy Elliott merely being a mentally disturbed red herring, but got cold feet at the last minute because Jason was one of the "sacred deaths in comics". They then went through with Under the Hood because of the audience reception.
Red hood is the best character in dc his story in red hood and the outlaws was amazing and after his initial villain arc he became what batman should've been he only kills the worst of the worst not small criminals or simple thugs
I think that is something that could really work well. Maybe even have Jason just leave Gotham behind (for now) and go to another city and become the new Crimelord there. He will allow some crime to happen (drugs, smuggling, arms dealing) but ONLY when he controls it all. If someone is dealing drugs to kids, or do ANYTHING to kids Jason will put them down permanently. Same goes for murders and rapists and all the other sickos in the city. He can even use the wealth to better his city, open shelters for abused victims, the homeless, and renew buildings for people to live in. He controls crime and makes sure everyone is under his controls while also not only putting down the real criminals but also giving back to the people
@@theredhood7879 that could work tbh, nightwing really came into his own when he went to bludhaven so i think doing that for red hood could really be beneficial and interesting for him.
Wow I had no idea the history of the Red Hood was so convoluted lol no wonder whenever he appears in outside media they just wanna reuse the same story over and over again 😅 That’s gotta be hard to deal with when his stories are just all over the place… I like these more “off-the-cuff” type “rants” lol…😆 They’re entertaining and I learn stuff. Keep on keeping on~👍🏽
honestly if they were to introduce Jason todd into the DC movie universe the best would be adding hints to him. Stuff in the background, small mentions, hell maybe even a flashback that involves him could work. Basically you'd want to build up to it over the course of a couple movies.
I really liked Redhood and the outlaws, either version. Mostly because to me it was like he was reforming. We've got 10 years of stories of him being DC's Punisher. Out of all of Batman's rogues wouldn't it be perfect for a student of Bruce's to fall off the path and come back? To have an example that his way works? Jason still has his rep, criminals will still be afraid of Redhood and for us the reader, the "will he or won't he" when it comes to killing has max drama potential. The batfam doesn't really even have to trust him all the way (aka Babs can still be a jerk to him and Damien can still be a little snot) DC just has to stick to a plan for him. But, it's comics and I think that allergy they(and Marvel) have to character development is stronger than what I'd like.
I think In the DCU it’d be good if they just show Jason’s Robin suit in the case and Damian asks Bruce whose suit does it belong to and Batman replies Jason Todd, a former Robin. Then in the sequel we get Batman Under the Red Hood in live action.
I think the real problem with Jason Todd is no one wants to cement his moral stance. I think it would be really interesting to see Red hood trying to clean up Gotham, without killing every criminal in sight, but rather reserve killing for particular criminals that have no chance at reforming and those that have spilled so much innocent blood. I.e Criminals that treat Arkham/BlackGate as a revolving door, criminals that have killed over 100s of people, those that have genuine attempts at reform, those that can't be kept in public without them being a significant risk to the general public. Jason would not be killing criminals because he's violent, or mentally unstable, or angry at the would. Rather he would be calm, and rather want to avoid to kill anyone but understands that it is necessary in some situations. He genuinely believes that it's between for one guilty (wo)man to die to save 100s of innocent lives. It could finally really explore the issue with Batman's no killing rule, and Gotham's revolving door of villains which no one wants to address. It could also explore the difference between murder and killing in the act of defence. I wish they could explore this in the batman Mythos.
i think jason can work in the DCU still and could even work very well tbh. build him up over a couple movies through dialogue about him - maybe bruce uses him as a cautionary tale to damian. ppl always draw comparisons between him and damian so they can use that to their advantage here and use damian as a surrogate to show us how jason was as a robin while bruce recognizes that and through his attempts to avoid repeating history we learn about jason until his eventual return / redemption. a movie universe allows them to build continuity and context over time so they don’t HAVE to make jason’s whole story fit into one movie like under the red hood and he doesn’t have to appear immediately in the first movie either.
Sasha and Jason's relationship was a really good mentor-student one imo, I miss them. Also I want a red hood who kills and is also on the outlaws, with all the members. And I like Roy's hat
I think the best thing to do with Red Hood is give him an arc where he's dealing with all the mob bosses in Gotham while Batman deals with the theatrical villains
I think the new revamping of the DC cinematic universe with Damian could work really well in integrating Red Hood. Imagine at the end of Damian's introduction movie about the league of assassin's or smthn, Damian sides with Batman and not Talia, and then Talia resurrects Jason to have another pawn against batman or smthn. I think that could work quite well.
i swear they made red hood 'kill' penguin for the same reason nightwing got shot.. So batman becomes even more down and moody when catwoman ditches batman at the wedding
Tim actually let him go right before the battle for the cowl as seen by how that was at the end of his Robin run and then he's Red Robin right after Battle for the Cowl. Plus it was part of Bruce's final wishes that they don't give up on him and Tim was super begrudging about it.
The problem with Red Hood? Writers wont let him actually kill a villain and get away with it. Joker? Came back. Black Mask? Came back. Just let the man be who you designed him to be.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't DC say that they were going to include the Gotham Knights video game story into their cinematic universe? If they do that, they can just pick up where that story left off and have him work with the rest of the Bat Family.
i think u can do red hood in the movies if u build him up as a big bad. Hint to What happened to Jason in the Batman movies, you can even have a bonding moment where batman talks to Damien about since Damien is a bit more aggressive of a robin like Jason was. Start with seeding in that something is different with the mobsters in Batman movies and its like a side thing Batman is dealing with before introducing the bid bad of that movie. Then do the under the red hood storyline with one change, have it be that Jason was just brought back by Taliah for whatever reason (Maybe trying to make him a solider to lead their army or something) but when he comes back he has PTSD of what joker did to him (to explain why he is hunting the joker) and to explain the violent tendencies say its a side-effect from being revived, after he was dead for so long. At the end of the movie he can accept that he took it to far and did alot of bad things but still not agree with Batman's mission and he leaves (maybe even end the fight in a way where you think Jason could actually beat Batman. Then have him be an anti-hero, i think Red Hood and Arsenal works better as a tv-show more than a movie but continue his story there before brining him back for a Battle of the Cowl movie (if they do one). *Note when hinting at what happened to Jason keep that he was to aggressive but at the same time have him be the best robin as in the most skilled. This way after he leaves in Under The Red Hood you can still have bat-family members going to him for help so you can reasonably put him into other movies.
I love how they admit Red Hood needs his Guns in the Comics, but refuse to let them make Figures with Guns anymore. I hate that by the time I was looking to get a Red Hood Fig they did this!
Here’s my hot take on the matter, I feel like the reason why they kept messing up Jason cause at the time they didn’t fully understand how to make an antihero and with the new 52 it seems like that what they wanted Jason to be like but didn’t know how to go about it
The Red Hood is my favorite thing about DC. I was 16 when the Death in The Family comics came out. This was back when you could buy them at drug stores. I loved Jason Todd as Robin and had a lot of anxiety over what was going to happen to him. I even called the phone number to save him. I was really angry when he died, and resented Denny O'Neil for a while. I eventually stopped collecting comics altogether because of some bad experiences in my twenties as an illustrator, and once I learned how the sausage was made, I kind of lost my appetite for it. Fast forward 30 or so years, I start publishing my own books and zines, and there's a lot of overlap with comics because we work with comic stores sometimes. I wanted to see what was out there, so I started collecting again. I learned, much to my delight, that Jason Todd was back and doing things you'd expect adult Jason Todd to be doing. I don't have a problem with him being kind of a DC/Bat Family Punisher. I feel like it's the most honest depiction of what happens when you adopt children, put them through hell and raise them to fight crime. Every time The Bat Family shows up, I get a little uncomfortable, because I'm reminded that Bruce Wayne plucks children out of the wild and throws them into dangerous situations. It's hard for me to view Batman as a good guy anymore because of this. I think having two well-adjusted former Robins like Tim Drake and Nightwing is way more unusual than the one that goes around slaughtering bad guys. I'm surprised they don't all do it.
Red Hood would work better in a manga story where characters are allowed to change & grow over time. Like many comic book characters Red Hood is stuck as a caricature since the current comic book format centers around retcons & reboots that keep characters from straying too far off the beaten path. Unless things change in comics as a whole, he'll never get a full character arc like many manga characters do (Vegeta, Piccolo, etc.).
Comicstorian: Jason steals a Nightwing outfit and now he's Nightwing with guns and then he steals a red robin outfit and now he's Red Robin with guns. Me: And then he steals a Batgirl outfit and now he is Batgirl with guns! Comicstorian: That wasn't working so they threw that out almost immediately. Me: oh....... We... didn't go there? 🙃
Really hope punchline isn’t dead and gone I think the character is unique but I know why it was the idea of Harley Quinn being replaced that probably put her under
He did actually made peace with batfamily I mean in New 52 when Damien Wayne was stealing items from ex Robins to show he is the best Robin which followed in team up of Dick,Jason and Tim and at the end of that story they start to see each others as brothers, then in DC Rebirth we have annual story of Outlaws teaming up with Nightwing where Dick and Jason really started to get along then we have three Joker story which started common understanding of Jason and Barbara.Tim was always in contact with Jason they even hang out in their free time and Alfred never give up on Jason. So yes in Batman Urban legends he finaly made peace with Bruce and for now he has trust of the family all he needs is a writer who will not write him like a prick
It is so strange how DC/ Lobdell would just stop and start stories with him so much. But I jumped on with this character n52 so I was here for the crazy ride. They just need to give him to a writer and just let them do whatever they want in his own little corner without interference. Also I liked arsenal's hat.
The best way I can see them fixing red hood is just make his book super violent. Like batman finds him a city like bludhaven, but the people would rather kill him than run. Now Jason has to find more inventive ways to beat his enemies. Combining brutal combat and having to use his training as Robin.
I've been thinking about that too, How do you fix the Red Hood Storyline? And the best route I can think of is to have him struggle with walking the straight and narrow. Like after Under The Red Hood you do the Red Hood and The Outlaws where Jason teams up with clone Roy Harper (going by Arsenal) and Starfire (during the first disbanding of the Titans) and they work well with each other for a good while with Starfire and Jason even try out a relationship. That of course would end at one point where during say the war on Tameran to help Blackfire, Jason, and Starfire are fighting (psychically against soldiers and emotionally with each other) Starfire calls him Dick, showing that the Princess might have some unresolved feelings with the first Robin. Starfire then chooses to stay on her home world for some time while Roy and Jason go the heroes-for-hire route, but both are having issues, Jason's anger getting to him as he feels like he was used as a cheap substitute while Roy finds out Chesire had their kid and just put her in the foster system. Now both have a reason for this to work: Jason to once and for all get out of Dick's shadow while Roy wants to be successful enough to get parental rights to his daughter. You end it with their business being successful (not great mind you, but people notice the pair is doing some real good.) and you end it with Roy getting his daughter while Jason heads back to Gotham for Death of the Family. Jason goes to help the batfam deal with the Joker when the Clown princess (who at this point knows who they all are) puts each member in a trap designed to fuck with them. Jason's trap is pretty simple, it's a mirror of the choice from Under The Red Hood: Joker gives him a gun and is holding a detonator that'll blow random bombs in Gotham, all Jason has to do is shoot Joker and so many lives would be spared. But can he do it? He's been such an awfully good boy lately, probably getting gold stars from batsy for all the people he's let live. Does Red Hood still have his edge, or maybe, Jason needs a reminder? At this, a video is played on the walls showing Jason's beating, all the while the Joker comments with each strike while Jason boils until he pulls the trigger. Instead of firing, however, the moment the hammer hits the bullet it doesn't fire but causes a cloud of smoke to seep from the gun. As Jason loses consciousness the last thing he hears is, "See kid, that's what I love about you. You're so predictable. But then again, so am I!" Right before the Joker flips the switch.
In Batman urban legends he accidentally kills the boy's father the one with the mom goes into overdose and goes into the hospital she survives at the end.
I feel like they don't know what to do with him, half of the time. They should have kept him as an mysterious anti hero, who isn't afraid to kill someone that stands in his way, and is fueled by revenge. It's also really weird how they team him up with people. I feel like he would never team up with anyone because of what happened when he was with batman. Another thing I would like to see is the hole batfamily disowning Jason, all but Damien who struggled whit the same thing Jason did when he was his age (Killing people). A storyline I would love to see. Would be that batman realising Jason needs to be stopped and is his gratest failure. The only thing batman feels he can do is to put Jason in arkam. They fight and batman puts Jason there to hide him away from the world. In arkam Jason sees all batmans failures and he loses a big part of his humanity seeing how a fate worse then death is awaited in arkam. There Jason is faced with true evil both on arkams and the wilains side and he decide that he wants to kill batman.
When a villain becomes popular, they become a anti hero. Often they get ruined this way. I believe Red Hood should be a anti-hero. Leading a crime syndicate would be interesting. He wouldn’t fight crime, he’d control it. It could make for some interesting Batman and Redhood team ups
Jason just needs to be DC's Punisher. It makes the most sense. Keep him with his own sense of justice that puts him at odds with everyone else on the morally good side, but occasionally have him begrudgingly team up. Like Daredevil does with Frank. A LOT of people in the past have weighed in on Frank killing criminals in continuity, and he's still going. More or less. Just do that with Jason.
THANK YOU. He kinda dabbled in that area before. But it should be his main shtick. Brutalize villains. Hell, you can go one step further. Kill villains in jail.
Marvel has brainwashed y’all so bad y’all think they created character types Lmfao. No jason does not need to be DC’s punished because he’s nothing like the punisher
I just finished Red Hood and the Outlaws issue #1 last week gotta say it was really good and I don't mind Arsenal's trucker hat didn't bother me at all
I really liked the All Caste addition to Jason's character. Given the way he was brought back via the Lazarus Pit, there was already some sort of mystical connection to the League of Assassins, plus the All-Blades are just really cool imo. They're also pretty situational, so it's not like he can use them for everything. Swords powered by his soul that only work against magic and mystical creatures is a really unique thing Jason brings to the table beyond "Batman with guns". As for the movies, the ideal scenario would be to have Batman's trilogy focus on doing Death In The Family, Hush, and Under The Red Hood as their own movies; DITF to establish Jason's rough past, Hush to both tease his return and establish Tim as a B plot, and then UTRH for Jason's return, then use that as a jumping off point for a Red Hood show or even a trilogy of movies. Since we're getting BaTB, they could make regular comparisons to Jason with Damian's troubles to set up the idea and then go from there?
Red Hood is the only reason I came back to DC. They need to make stronger, faster and richer than Batman. He could be the Lex Luther to Batman. That he “Batman” can never defeat. Red Hood would become more powerful and criminally connected and finally kill Joker. Batman would then put him in jail just to find out he owns everything that Batman doesn’t including all legal and judicial faucets of the city. Turning Batman to finally see his way of doing things does not work.
Thank you for distilling all of this down for us so that no one with a weaker comic constitution has to go and read these convoluted stories. You're a gem.
Simply put, Red Hood should be DC’s Punisher/John Wick/DoomSlayer/Kratos all combined into one in order to make him one of the most lethal/dangerous human beings in the DC Universe. He has little to no association with Batman, or the rest of the Bat Family, and even comes into conflict with them, plus other heroes that have issue with him in his genocide against the worst of the worst criminals. Hell, have him end up killing a few heroes that get into his way to show how deadly and unremorseful he actually is, who’ll not let anything or anyone get in his way of his crusade. He has little to no empathy, and barely values human life as a byproduct of his time in Tartarus after his demise, having incurable PTSD from it which makes him even more ruthless and cruel. With these character traits in mind, you now have a interesting character that fits into the larger DC Universe on his own two feet as opposed to being the robin trying to be Spider-Man who uses guns, often non-lethal guns via rubber bullets or some ballocks like that. DC/Warner are sitting on a goldmine with Red Hood that they continually piss away his potential value when he can be their John Wick in terms of box office potential.
My hot take is that Jason just fundamentally does not work as a villain. I know trauma changes people and stuff but Jason does some really heinous stuff as a villain and no amount of trauma can make someone who was once so compassionate talk about using children as fodder in a gang war lol. It just isn’t believable, he works better as an anti-hero
they should have just kept him in his og under the hood crime lord era tbh. that was his peak
@@maskedcrusaderings I was most entertained by the RHTO stuff personally, but I think his best fit is a combination of crime lord and prince of Gotham. The idea of Batman working with Gotham's kingpin at the same time as the commissioner blurs the lines for the Bat again.
@@TheGreatDevlin yea that’s a very interesting dynamic and direction for both red hood and just general batman stuff
He never had a chance
the writers: create a million open plot lines for red hood
also the writers: we don't know what to do with him
DC writers were onto something with the Outlaws and Task force, yet they all got canned.
I agree
They are literally the same except Damian got redeemed quicker, and it’s not like they don’t know it too, they’ve referenced it a couple times but they just leave it there, they don’t do anything with it
Plus they're so similar which just makes it so funny.
They honestly did a few times. In the new52 and in rebirth there have been moments with the two that highlight Jason coming off as a big brother but the writers need to get more consistent. It’s like they get a long one minute then it’s the opposite and they damn near fighting to the death.
No, jason should be kept away from all bat family unless it to be a villain and be beaten up
@@Reverse_Hood nham, that'd been boring
I don't think the title is supposed to be "red hood fuckery" but I love it.
they should have kept it lol
Considering Jason Todd grew up on the streets before becoming Robin, kinda make sense that he would be a bit more cut-throat compared to Dick, who was raised by his family before the incident and meeting Bruce.
Dick had stability, and Jason had the exact opposite.
That’s why Jason is my favorite 🫡. My parents were crackheads by the time I turned 13 so I would steal food and clothes to survive. I was on the streets a lot and did things I am not proud of. I’m doing good now I always managed to keep faith and hope.
@@Skyx5m50glad to here your testimony
Red Hood killing his enemies is what makes him unique, especially in DC and as a member of Batman's world. Having him travel around the world solo tracking down criminals and killing them could lead to really fun and interesting stories, occasionally crossing paths with other heroes who are too keen on his methods leading to confrontations that could impact both characters. Having him put down the guns and hang out with the bat fam just doesn't sit right with me, especially if joker is still around wreaking havoc.
Thank You!
The way I've always percieved dealing with Jason is through two paths.
Path 1:
Keep Jason dead, keep the consequences of a kid getting into this life there keep that a remainder to Batman that this vigilante gig creates a world that isn't for a kid to get involved in and to make him just stop taking more kid sidekicks.
Path 2:
He returns as Red Hood, he is someone who isn't afraid of crossing the line that Batman is afraid of.
One thing I hate about the bat family is, in the three jokers story, when Jason kills one of the jokers, barbrah gets mad at him, the same joker who crippled her, and did alot of fucked up shit to her, and not to mention, before they came across the joker, they saw a swimming pool full of people he killed, and yet she's mad at Jason for killing a monster, bat fam would cry if they couldn't stop hitler from killing himself,
They would save Ted bundy even if he killed hundreds of people, Jason is in the right for killing Gotham's psychopaths
I love how he didn't just bash Jason, but took time to point out Talia and Starfire's bad characterization.
@@anarchy9756 Exactly I like the banter that they have when there on a team together.
Okay
😂
It's alright, we get it 🤣🤣🤣 I was like, "Oh, this has a sponsor and everything too? Go off Benny! 🤘🏿"
I don't know man, seems pretty accurate 😂
THAT WAS SUCH A BETTER TITLE!!!
Man I just posted the same thing to scroll down and see you suggest it.
I agree whole heartedly
Good idea I mean the spy shot would really work better for Jason than it ever did for Dick really but I think it wouldn’t hold too long just cuz Jason wouldn’t want to be under someone else’s control for too long, and idk about joining him with grifter, I get it but it would make shit soooo much more convoluted and plus I don’t think Wildstorm would just want to give up their character like that
Maybe they fumbled not putting Jason as the spy but it creates an even bigger redundancy to basically put him in a story similar to Grayson, each Robin should stay away from the others thing
like
Damains the assassin, Tims the detective and Dicks the spy.
the problem is Jason didnt get something like this to stick. the thing that made him different is that he's like the anti hero but they can't justify him being it and staying around the batfamily unlike they can with someone like Damian or Orphan as both were young and were kind of groomed into those roles and at times Damain goes back to that. his character plays out in so many different ways he's either the best of the bat family or the worst. like stories like DCeased and even the ending of the apokolopis war animated movie or bad ones like the 666 one or batman beyond where he goes back to the league of assassins and it postures him in each direction
Jason either gets boring or goes nowhere, because his things being anti batman. he either doesn't grow and stays cool but predictable or he gives it up and he just becomes an extra in the batfamily almost
He should be recognised by DC and James Gunn more.Hope he has plans with him and possibly to see him in Brave and Bold.
That could be when they reveal him as some sort of Arkham knight figure before he adopts red hood tbh i like that better
nah brave and the bold will probably just be bruce, dick and damian with mentions of others
He is on DCU and other batfam
Honestly I love the idea of doing the Under The Red Hood story but with Damian playing a central role as well. I feel like there’s a lot of story potential between Batman fearing the loss of another son, Damian discovering what happened to Jason Todd, and Red Hood trying to convince Damian that Batman’s ideology wrong and is only going to lead to his death.
That could be an ideea of a movie.Damian would follow Jason .
You should make a video about Tim Drake. Out of all the robins, Tim fell off so hard especially after flashpoint.
God fr it’s so sad how far his character has regressed.
He did, that was the Vid before the Damien one.
I dug the other cap that he got with the red sunglasses a bit more that he got at the start of Rebirth I believe. But it does have its charm for sure.
someone with taste
i kneel
Thank you. This constant need to freaking redeem every villain. Just let red hood be a anti hero/villain

RHATO Rebirth, honestly one of the best things coming out of DC at the time. Dexter Soy's art was amazing and the writing was crisp as hell
Amen.
@@affsteak3530 also he needs his own city as well. One where it needs his brand of justice
What you don't mention is the popularity of the animated movie and the Arkham games where the character at this point mostly known for. The comics are always reluctant to detach too far from what potential new readers already perceive the character to be. Also want to mention the Three Jokers story had my favorite depiction of the character since the movie.

OG Title: Red Hood Fuckery
Never change Benny, Never change
“Red hood fuckery” best title for a video ever
They should have rolled with it longer and had him be Batgirl with guns.
"Are you confused yet, Bruce? Love YA!" Talia is literally every strange text a girl has ever sent me.
This is a sign to finish my red hood cosplay👀
Cool, I'm gonna cosplay him eventually too
Honestly they should really just stick with Red Hood being an Anti-hero because I found that to be the best overall rather than him being a complete evil villian since he is essentially good but he just kills his villians.
So Urban Legends and Outlaws rebirth
Except under the red hood already did that lmdao. Marvel has really ruined y’all into thinking it’s the first piece of Media to do anything

It should be mentioned that Jason todd is technically the original main line DC continuity Red Robin
I love the trucker hat look. I really enjoyed Red Hood's books and didn't realize just how disjointed it all was until this summary.
I would like to see maybe Jason being Arkham knight first and do the whole Batman with guns thing and then realise he shouldn’t kill then become red hood who is still brutal but less killy
I would love if you make one for every robin (and Barbara). Nightwing would be tough to nitpick though
Since Damien is here to stay, Tim does not have an obvious path to move beyond being Robin and every writer is either beating around the bush or is straight up incompetent (Bendis's revolutionary idea to call him Drake).
Lol)
I'd love a proper Red Hood in James Gunn's movie line up.
Red hood fuckery is the Greatest title in comicstorian history
Nightwing>>>>>>>>
Wow I had no idea the history of the Red Hood was so convoluted lol no wonder whenever he appears in outside media they just wanna reuse the same story over and over again 😅 That’s gotta be hard to deal with when his stories are just all over the place…
I like these more “off-the-cuff” type “rants” lol…😆 They’re entertaining and I learn stuff.
Jason coming back by clawing his way out of his coffin and pulling himself from his grave will always be my head canon
Love your stories
I think the new revamping of the DC cinematic universe with Damian could work really well in integrating Red Hood. Imagine at the end of Damian's introduction movie about the league of assassin's or smthn, Damian sides with Batman and not Talia, and then Talia resurrects Jason to have another pawn against batman or smthn. I think that could work quite well.
i swear they made red hood 'kill' penguin for the same reason nightwing got shot.. So batman becomes even more down and moody when catwoman ditches batman at the wedding
23:24 If i remember correctly, Jason used a multiversal tracker to track search them but no result came out. Thats why Jason thought they were dead.
I'd like trucker hat red arrow. It really sells the down on his luck kind of character that they have been portraying him as lately.
All I saw was red hood and I clicked no regrets
This is your best video yet Benny. Hilarious watching you try and explain this mess.
Seriously, Joker needs to stay dead. Harley and Hood would be thrilled and maybe it would lead to an interesting development with Punchline.
@aesabast8051 joker makes too much money they never gonna kill him unless someone can replace him.
Gotta love how Benny says "gotta be child friendly for TH-cam" but names the video red hood fuckery😂😂
That prince of crime fit goes so hard imo
The funny parts of this video is when you have to do an exposition dump and you just speed talk through the comic boo madness
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't DC say that they were going to include the Gotham Knights video game story into their cinematic universe? If they do that, they can just pick up where that story left off and have him work with the rest of the Bat Family.
"red hood fuckery" 💀
i think u can do red hood in the movies if u build him up as a big bad.
RH Rebirth was amazing, before the team split, i have no idea how Scott Lobdell was able to write something that good consistently for 3 years.
My guy, character change is not a manga invention.
@@MouldMadeMind Not the point I made, comics have a history of stagnating their characters in order to keep milling the same story again & again.
BTW nice collection in background. They just super much seem like backdrops on a soundbooth

11:00 True and my main problem with the TV version of Kate Kane, as she kept letting murderous Beth get away.
There’s also the Future State Storyline, we’re Batman fakes his death and Jason is the only one who know he’s still alive
Ben calling Roy "red hood" twice is so funny idk why
Ugh

I just finished Red Hood and the Outlaws issue #1 last week gotta say it was really good and I don't mind Arsenal's trucker hat didn't bother me at all
There is a little of Jason in all of us, but there is multiverse of do do in DC editorial.
I also love Arsenal with a trucker cap.
I have to correct you on Red Hood's Bizarro,he's currently King of Trigon's Hell Dimension after killing him and saving the World 😊👍🏾
Simply put, Red Hood should be DC’s Punisher/John Wick/DoomSlayer/Kratos all combined into one in order to make him one of the most lethal/dangerous human beings in the DC Universe.
