I got the DDJ 400. Thanks for the video! I like the look of it more, it's kind of 2010ish. I also don't need the extra features on the FLX4. I have also read that the build quality seem to be a bit better on the old ones but not sure.
Just bagged a flx4 a few weeks back after my tank-like denon mc4000 gave up the ghost after 8 years. First impressions out the box was what is this cheap kids toy! The build quality seems well below my denon which cost a similar amount. However, since having a good play around with it I love it, combined with algoriddim DJ pro. Not sure about longevity but for an entry level controller it’s brilliant. Fader is nice and smooth, jog wheels feel great for mixing and scratching. Love the effects and the cross fader effect is a nice bonus.
Love some of those features. Gutted I use serato. Although it is only entry level, you could easily use this on a night working. Great Video as always.
Can someone please explain what it means to either use rekordbox or dj serato? Like does the hardware you buy determine the software? And is the FLX4 compatible with both, but the ddj400 only with rekordbox? Is it like a one time use serial number you get with the hardware? How does this software work if you buy the hardware second hand? Hope someone here is able to help😃
So rekordbox and serato are DJ software programmes. The controller you buy simply controls this software, much like how a games console has a controller. Some controllers can only control specific software for example the DDJ 400 can only be used with rekordbox whereby the FLX4 can be used with both serato and rekordbox. For Pioneer DJ they got rid of serial numbers some time ago so the software should work when you plug in the device.
i want to perform in the clubs but most clubs don’t let djs to bring their equipmant they want the latest ones. So then i ask myself what’s the point of buying more expensive one if i won’t be able to bring my own dj set.
You clearly aren’t from the UK 😂. The idea of buying equipment could be for mobile work or to have something close to a club set up at home so that you will feel at home when you have a set of CDJs in front of you
Used ddj400 to play over AirPlay last night. I bet if u hook up to a computer and use that Bluetooth it would work. With airplay there is a fair amount of delay tho.
Really depends on what your budget is. The FLX-10 is a great unit but way more expensive. If you don’t enjoy djing after you buy your controller..will you be annoyed you spent a lot of money if you went for the FLX-10

But you can stil set normal filter effect on a cfx knob?
@@jaesindnb6197 i hear ya but i will never be playing a club etc lol I guess it will boil down to who has the better sale over the holidays If there is a sale . I appreciate your reply
Sir Music has always been my passion, and I’m working hard to develop my skills as a DJ. Coming from a humble background, it’s been challenging to access the right equipment to pursue my dream. The DDJ-400 would be a game-changer for me, allowing me to showcase my talent and, hopefully, support my family in the process. If there’s any way you could help me by giving me this equipment, it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for considering! 🙏💗
Dooode !!! This video is the shit !!!! I constantly have issues with the hercules impulse 500. Software issues and drivers constantly. Im upgrading to this FLx4
@@djkarlthomas ah thanks bro thats good to know! Wish they didn’t keep discontinuing/changing the look as I really like the look of the 400 and not so much the flx, any chance of a mic demo to see what the echos like aha? Thx bro

bro ive been tryna find videos comparing these 2 thank you
Hope it was useful! Thanks for watching
@@djkarlthomas which one did you like?
@venkateshsenguttuvan8376 I like both devices however the FLX-4 has a few extra features.
Ddj400 is old now and people still trying to sell it at the price of a new flx4😂 this video helped clear up the differences ❤
Hope it was useful. Thanks for watching!
A 3-4 years old DDJ 1000 is going above MSRP ... people are people
I have the 400 but I must say the flx 4 definitely looks worth it. I might have to update later on this year forsure. Thank you for the review!
No problem and thank you for watching!
I sold the FLX 4 and repurchased the DDJ-SB3, no comparison, the best controller hands down with the most comfortable and comprehensive layout.
Fair one! Thank you for watching!
It’s allso twice the price bad comparison bro lol

Yes I agree it’s a bit plasticy and not a lot to it in terms of build however it’s great entry level device. Thanks for watching!

Very useful video for those debating which controller to get 👏🏼👏🏼

ddj flx4 vs ddj 400. Which of the two did you like best?
I like both, and both are pretty similar. The FLX-4 is just newer. Thanks for watching
@@djkarlthomas i am from India 🇮🇳
Fantastic video, just what I was looking for
Glad it was useful!
I thought I was buying an FLX4 from a dude online but just wasn’t paying attention and it was a DDJ400. Worth trying to sell the 400 and get an FLX4?
You will still have a lot of fun on the ddj-400. It’s more or less got most of what the FLX-4 has
Great video
Can you use Virtual Dj on the ddj 400?
I’m pretty sure you can as virtual DJ is mapped to pretty much any controller on the market!
i want to perform in the clubs but most clubs don’t let djs to bring their equipmant they want the latest ones. So then i ask myself what’s the point of buying more expensive one if i won’t be able to bring my own dj set.

the more upgrade controllers you mentioned like ddj800/1000 does not have smart cfx, right? So smart cfx is unique on flx4
The smart CFX is a unique FLX-4 feature 🙂
@@djkarlthomas designed for wannabe dj's🙂👍
As I am beginning .... Can I go with FLX4 OR 400
Either are great beginner controllers. I would probably go for the FLX as you can then try with both serato or rekordbox
can you use traktor pro software with ddj flx 4?
I don’t think so. Serato and Rekordbox only. Thanks for watching!
Is there a way to disable the CFX functions? As in, make the knobs function the same as the DDJ 400?
Yes just don’t press the button and select one of the normal CFX from rekordbox
@@djkarlthomas thank you for the quick reply :) very informative video as well!
@Teoras thank you for watching!
I want something to just messed around at home parties.. what u recommend
Wait for my video tomorrow 😉. The controller I mention there is good for parties!
Does flx4 play songs via bluetooth? I have the device but I don't know how to connect it to the large speakers. What is the wire that connects it?
Used ddj400 to play over AirPlay last night. I bet if u hook up to a computer and use that Bluetooth it would work. With airplay there is a fair amount of delay tho.
ok i am just starting out i have never had dj controller before, do i go for ddj 400 or the flx 4? and great video
The FLX-4 is the newer version of the DDJ-400 so I would say go for that. Thank you for watching and glad it was useful
I want to start working as a DJ. Is it better if I immediately, as a beginner with no experience, buy ddj flx10 or is it better to start with flx4?
Really depends on what your budget is. The FLX-10 is a great unit but way more expensive. If you don’t enjoy djing after you buy your controller..will you be annoyed you spent a lot of money if you went for the FLX-10
can we map that mic knob to do something else on flx 4 in rekordbox?
Not to my knowledge
Great video as always 🎉🎉
Thanks!!
..does new flx6 gt has the same mic options as flx4..?? regards
I don't speak English, which DJ is better?

Yes you can.
Never dj'd ever and thinking about giving it a go. Torn between the FLX4 and the Hercules 500. Thoughts????
Not used the Hercules so can’t really comment on that. Have a look at some reviews of that to compare and decide from there. Thank you for watching 👌🏼
@@djkarlthomas Thanks for the reply and I have been researching both units but cannot decide lol
I would say the pioneer just for the simple fact that pioneer is the de facto club standard

I hate that the flx4 has a usb-c on the back. I just know that it will become loose and disconnect after a while
It’s a very good and fair point, whilst a smaller connection it’s definitely not as solid as the old style!
I am getting DDJ 400 for half the price of FLX4. Which one will be worth it?
I mean you can’t knock a half price controller! Just make sure it fully works!
@@djkarlthomas so, buying FLX4 will be future Proof ? I am a beginner also.
No tech is future proof as new products are always being released onto the market. It’s newer than the ddj-400 however
Should I go for Hercules impulse 500 or FLX4 ? My motive is to play in clubs as well music production.
@@JoydeepDeb-m2o never used that controller so my advice would be to seek out videos which review this device

Can you use FLX 4 for playing at large night clubs ?
Of course- you can use any controller however I wouldn’t advise it as the sound card isn’t as good as what you will find in more expensive units.
