Been to OT 7 times with West Ham and seen us win 3. The 2-0 Cup Replay Win in 85/86, this game and the famous Paolo Di Canio goal against a waving Barthez
I was a teenager living in Kuala Lumpur at the time constantly overlooked by Liverpool & MUFC fans. I always love West Ham. I had to wait for months before my UK pen pal at the time to send me this video. Love every moment of it!!!
I remember being at this game, as a Hammers fan living in Manchester I had to go undercover so so speak with the home fans. I recall the whole Stretford End chanting "MacAvennie, he's a wanker he's a wanker" Then said wanker scores .......... silence and disbelief from the Manchester fans. Then a little Irish bloke (natch) turns to me and says, "That MacAvennie, every time we call him a wanker, he scores against us" I just nodded in supposed sympathy while trying not to dance for joy. Great days of great football, still yesterday wasn't so bad either ;) Come on you Irons!
Ahh, I was there as well! Frankie Mac, Devo, TC, the days when Footballer were men and played hard but fair, not the namby pamby fairy divers they are today!
Love the Video mate many thanks!! what a treat to see the Mac and Cottee double act and of course the quality of Devonshires goal! We had brilliant support behind that goal as usual!!
I was there as a West Ham supporter, fab weather and Man Utd fans chanting "McAvennie, he's a wanker". Straight off Frankie stuffs it in the back of the net. A Scottish Man Utd fan , thinking I was a red, turned to me and said, "Fucking hell, every time we call McAvennie a wanker, he scores against us " I just nodded in agreement. Great days.
I should've been at this game with my other Man U fan brothers; it was a bank holiday in England but I came down from Scotland thinking it was an evening k.o. and got to Old Trafford at 7pm. I had to drive back feeling dense as I obviously was. Our very good mate Tommo was there though; he was a big West Ham fan and the funniest bloke I ever met. I always remember him describing McAvennie's header to me with such passion. See you on the other side for a snakebite frenzy and a good mosh mate.
Day of this very match i always remember.. Obviously Irons winning.. But also Hurricane Charlie here in Dublin.. Like a drowned rat i was.. The east coast was left in a one and eight.. Some fuckin clear up afterwards.
Love these old WHU games.I remember when the West Ham fans sang one-nil to the Cockney boys at Old Trafford 1st April 2000 Wanchope scored. Final Score Man utd 7 seven West Ham 1,, Another game 26 january 2003 FA Cup Man utd 6 West Ham0. West ham where the best team for a least 30 seconds. sheer Bliss, , Lee if you want a copy drop me a line

Brilliant McAvennie
This was the last great victory for that wonderful West Ham side that promptly fell apart within weeks never to recover.

What? A manure fan who has actually been to the Theatre of Scum.
You're right. Normally our attendances are zero every time.
+sagahammer zzzzzzzzzz original
Beginning of the end for Big Ron...
WTF the linesman gave Mcgraths goal offside, West Ham had two defenders on the line for fucks sake!
Start of this season we were crap didn't win our first game until September against Southampton no wonder big Ron got sacked in November!!
I think a 4-1 league cup defeat to Southampton was the final straw for Big Ron.
