    2 presenters , all leagues catered for , and no ex players waffling . MOTD was so much better before the Premier league . But my enjoyment of MOTD from the 70's onwards was spoiled by that prat Motson . How he ever made a 40 year career commentating is beyond me , that stupid laugh and that "I don't believe this" . Barry Davis was my favorite commentater on MOTD

      Still think the biggest problem with MoTD now is Gary “Mr Battleship Grey” Lineker, he’s got as much personality as a fish’s wet bits!

    The smell of alcohol in the urinals, the smell of cheap burgers n onions around the ground, the smell of piss in the terraces and a proper game of footy on a proper pitch...👌🏼

    9:47 Parkes throws out to Devonshire who runs the full length of the pitch, skipping past Madden before crossing to Brooking who controls with his left foot and does a neat turn before shooting with his right foot - only a great reaction save low down to his right from Jennings stops what would have been a brilliant goal!

    I was there with my mates. Couldn't get in the Arsenal end so went into the home end. Forgot which end we were in when we scored. Went mad and then felt 5,000 eyes boring into the back of our heads :)

    17:51 Despite their lofty position, Coventry were almost relegated on the last day of the season.
    I seem to remember that they won their game with a goal from a player on loan from relegation rivals Birmingham, who were consequently relegated themselves!

    • @d.c.harrison6656
      @d.c.harrison6656 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Mick Ferguson was the player, on his return to Coventry, where he had scored a fair few goals in the late 70s. He didn't play very much for Birmingham the next season, surprisingly enough.

      Same here mate, I aint been to the Emirates and got no intention of going either. The old Boleyn was a great ground, at least the Emirates can pass (at a push) for a football ground, that fuckin Olympic stadium must be absolutely soul destroying for you lot. Sad.

    I see some stadiums had fences back then and some didn’t. I always thought west ham were considered a violent crowd so it’s weird they choose not to put a fence.

    • @FamilyRagSully
      @FamilyRagSully 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most violence happened outside of the ground - most true fans were there to watch the game and who can blame them with Devonshire & Brooking showing their silky skills back in the day! 😊😊

      There was one fence up for away supporters as can be seen behind the southbank (left hand goal). The following season 2 more sections of that terrace were fenced off to encourage more away supporters

    lot of fuss about David Madden who only made 2 appearances for Arsenal. got shipped out to Charlton, Had no success in the states with Los Angeles Lazers, Zero appearences and ended his career with i believe Maidstone United in 1990/91. He did actually play for Crystal Palace in the FA Cup and Replay for Crystal Palace before Maidstone United in a brief spell with Birmingham City before ending his career in Kent.

    Good old Arsenal.

  • @robj8201
    @robj8201 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pitches were shit, most stadiums weren’t much better, rain or snow meant some old geezers predicted the scores on the pools panel. Bloke walked round the stand shouting ‘peanuts’ or you could nip down the front to one of the young girls walking round the pitch selling wriggleys and programmes….pint in the north bank or west side bar….and we won sometimes…Greatest days in football history.
