I was fortunate enough to be there at Upton Park when he scored the volley against Wimbledon. Great memories. It's sad to think that all we've got left of Upton Park is memories ⚒️
Me to mate, one of the best goals l’ve seen in 55 years of watching the Irons....the Dean Ashton overhead kick in the Nobes testimonial was pretty good as well .
mate, I think I was 16 or something.. When Di Canio scored that goal with Wimbledon we talked about it continuously for weeks in Italy. I remember me playing with my mates 5 a side and trying to replicate the same shot every time I was going for goal lol. Now fast forward 20 years, I live in London and I am going to attend the Bournemouth game next Monday at London Stadium wearing a Di Canio top..
For me he will always be the greatest legend to ever pull a WHU shirt over his head, absolutely love the bloke and he is a great person to meet in person too especially when he finds out you a WHU fan.
It seems such a long time ago that I forgot how brilliant he was. Almost every goal he scored is amazing … even his penalties was an art form. Without a shadow of doubt, he is the best player we had in the last 20 years. Boy could we do with him today...
What a brilliant player Di Canio was... as a Celtic fan I was absolutely gutted when he left us 😭😭 ... probably my favourite Celtic player of my lifetime after Larsson.
Best finisher I've ever seen for West Ham, so composed, such incredible technique, his temperament meant that we at West Ham could enjoy his brilliance, because on talent alone he could have played for absolutely anyone.

4.12mins - that was the first goal I ever saw at Upton Park and first game my dad took me too. Crazy how you remember these things like they were yesterday!
I've been watching football for over 20 years and seen a lot of great players, and played a lot of footie myself. I remember this guy because of that insane goal we've all seen b4. I would simply point you to the 4:03 penalty goal. All the very best players can pull that off, like Pirlo, Zidane. Takes immense composure. Di Canio was real, real quality. Also those two unbelievable goals against Arsenal. He was the kind of player who knew he was better than most others, and that's why he performed so well against really top teams like United. He must have been a real concern for most teams who faced WEST HAM. From that era I'd say he was right up there as one of the very best strikers of the Premier League. Would have been a great signing for United, Liverpool or Arsenal.
4:07 probably the best panenka I’ve ever seen. The shear cheek and then the execution. Wow! Never knew that was in his highlight reel. Oh and Di Dicanio is arguably one of the best volleyers of a ball ever
That goal vs Chelsea with the flick up and smashes it, I remember certain goals where you would be trying to recreate them at school and that was one of them
I now know he scored 52 goals in all competitions for West ham , 47 in the Premier League , but he scored 66 in total in the Premier League for Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton , who he also played for
Che giocatore, mi fa pensare che giocatori avevamo in Italia in quegli anni per fare si che Di Canio non fosse convocato in nazionale. Ora mezzo campionato decente e subito in nazionale.
Absolute nutter that would give the ball away one minute then pull off some jaw dropping piece of skill the next,I was lucky enough to see a good number of these goals live, what a player such a pleasure to watch.⚒

You don't get such passionate players anymore.. He really gave everything for the West Ham shirt

2:43 the greatest scissor kick ever
The best scissor kick for Di Canio is in the 04-05 season at Derby of Rome Lazio-Roma 3-1 really the BEST
He was even better than I remembered. What I wouldn't give to have Paolo in his prime in 2018.
Di Canio was a force of nature! Technical skill, high energy, and fiery personality. Unforgettable moments!
