    An amazing engine for a beautiful car. Two of my favorite cars are the Mercury Cyclone and Torino GT fast backs. You mentioned the Cyclone came from the north. It's obvious the previous owner(s) had taken care of that car. It appears zero rust and still nice looking factory paint. Fantastic build. Fantastic car. I'm looking forward hearing the Godzilla fire up in it's new home. Now I'm wondering if a turbo or Supercharged Godzilla will find it's way in an upcoming S650 GT500

    Best video I've seen in a long time for two very cool cars, the 69 Cyclone and that 71 Montego wagon. I absolutely love several things about this video 1. The cars 2. the detail and right to the point 3. You're in Florida. It's hard to even find shops in Florida that do what you guys are doing, and specializing in Ford / Mercury intermediates, almost unheard of. I wish I could be there just to watch you guys work on these two cars. A FYI, as far as my research can determine, the true production car with the most super speedway victories was the 71 Mercury Montego. David Pearson won 15 races in 72'-73' in his 71' Montego. The second Talledega race in 72' had 10 71' Montego's in the race, and one of them won, though Pearson didn't win that particular race. Please tell us what city in Florida you're in, and the name of your shop.
    I have a 70 Montego.

    I'm a big fan of the Coyote engine. My daily is a Coyote powered Mustang, but seeing the power the Godzilla makes naturally aspirated makes me wonder what we've missed out on with pushrod engines from Ford the past 30 years since they switched ohc engines.

    • @detroitiron302
      @detroitiron302 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well said. Big RPM and big horsepower is fun, but on the street, low/mid RPM torque is most useful. Pushrod engines have had the edge in this category forever basically.

    • @PaulSter
      @PaulSter 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup, I had an '18 Mustang GT with the 10sp. Also had, at the same time, a '12 GT with a 6sp. The '18 was obviously faster with 460hp vs 410, but rowing gears was so fun, that I drove enjoyed the '12 more - plus it had a tune, x-pipe, catbacks, tuner, and a nice short shifter linkage.
      Sorry, I digressed - yup the trq and cubes of the "446" (as I like to call it) along with n/a potential and a size that's just over a 351s makes it very appealing. The aftermarket is really ramping up too. Nice to be able to get a crate 446 w/ 715 reliable hp.
      I like the price of the 430hp, version. Start with the usual, cam, lifters, intake, headers and what is that worth, 120+ hp? Then once you get used to that, which we always seem to, lol, you could do, forged pistons and rods and bump the compression, more cam, upgrade the valvetrain, more fuel, and that's probably around the 700hp vicinity.
      Don't know, but it's really fun to see a, new engine and aftermarket developing the platform.

    My crappy internet isn’t loading, I’ve seen a few of those Godzilla swaps @ car shows. But I lik2 hear & see one run. More importantly I sold a 68 Cyclone with a 1971 title. It was a lot driver, not 100% road worthy. But I’m commenting because it was white white red roof& had a long gone stripe on side of car. The interior was red with bench seat, 302-2V AT. I traded a FunJet 10’6” with a Suzuki 650” 2stroke inboard motor.

    May have to cut the hood, because if the stacks stay under the hood they will draw in very hot air and since it's fuel injected it does not have the cooling effect as with a carb. Jay Leno had a problem with his stack injection so lI listed the title of the episode. Restoration Blog: 1966 Ford Galaxie, Ultimate Edition - Jay Leno's Garage

  • @63bbray

    You guys are doing an amazing job, and that's a great car for a 7.3L swap. One concern I have about the 7.3L has been the depth of the oil pan and I have to say that engine is sitting awfully high in the car. I know there isn't much you can do about that. I hope someone comes out with a shallow oil pan, even though it would probably require redesigning the shaft-drive oil pump. I think the 7.3L's height will present problems in a lot of non-truck swaps.

  • @RyTrapp0
    @RyTrapp0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    We've GOTTA have the tallest stacks sticking up through the hood, Stacey David's 'V8 Interceptor' style! (which similarly had a bitchin' Ford V8 under the hood; a Kaase Boss big block, with the EFI stack intake of course)

    That Godzilla is an exact copy cat of Chevys LS engine.
    So it should be a good motor.
    Just likely Chevy copied Ford when they first made the ls that's a copycat almost of the 351 Cleveland at least in the head area it is.
    Dodge seems to be the only ones that's not a copycat

      There are many differences, actually, but yes, automakers have been copying each other for 100 years.

      If you have looked at engine history, the LS came out after the Modulars which all have cross bolted mains, 6 and 4 bolt, the LS upper end is windsor style with symetric ports. So, no this is not an LS copy.

      Ls is Nothing like a Cleveland. 351C cylinder head layout was 20 years ahead of its time. I still cant figure out how Ford's engineers got the valve angles and placement almost spot on.
