Just see the engine for what it is. I think it’s a great platform and I think want to put one in my bronco. Cletus made some great power. Not everyone is trying to make 1400 hp. Under 1000hp it seems like a good motor and torquey.

The advantages of a smart coil are 1) less heat inside the module and 2) potentially less electrical "noise" inside the module.
The "back EMF" (kick back voltage) can be very high and must be "clamped" to prevent damaging other electrical components. When clamped, less energy is released through the secondary windings. Possibly, the external driver allows a higher clamping voltage?

Another great video! But, Fair warning to anyone buying a '23 take-out. There is no Control pack or way to make this work without a lot of extra cost. A few months back I bought a '23 takeout. One would need to convert back to 2020-22 in order for it to run. With engine package I was given a false VIN number that was supposed to be from engine I received. It was not so a bunch of parts ordered are wrong and I cannot return. The engine also showed up with 4000.00 in damage that was never fully reimbursed. I was forced to eat a bunch of $$ and then Just ordered a Ford Performance M-9000-PM73 7.3L Power Module w/10R140 Auto. It turns out much cheaper in the long run. My question would be if F-P plans on doing a Control Pack for the '23 & newer 7.3 engines.

Issue with mine was 7.3 using 6R140 and at least at the time there was nothing avail to make it work with 3 wire coils. Not only was my engine damaged it was not possible without extreme cost to make it work. One cannot just switch coils. The 3 wire coils have internal control where as the 2 wire coils are in PCM. I’ve said this from the introduction of the Godzilla, and I continue to be proven correct. The Godzilla is a great truck engine, but as long as people continue to put these engines in lightweight Fox platforms and such, they’re gonna get whooped on by Coyotes and small block Fords, and people are gonna spend a lotta loot just to get beat up on. Jus spittin’ facts.
I wouldn’t Godzilla swap anything under 4,000 lbs. I’d love to Godzilla swap my OBS F150 4x4 with 35” tires. Something where weight is a huge concern and you can put all the low end torque to work. And if you are still hell-bent on doing a Godzilla in a Mustang, I think you’d be much better off with a 6.8L Baby-Zilla. Should at least be able to spin that one a little faster with that shorter stroke.

There's lots of factory blocks capable of 6-second quarter mile times, but none with stock heads and a stock bottom-end (crank, rods and pistons; okay, maybe a run or two but nothing that will do it run after run). I believe you may be misunderstanding those saying the are running 6's with a stock block as meaning a stock engine. In most cars it take about 1,500-2,000 hp to run 6's and that's not happening with any factory rods and pistons (more than once). Coyote is a great engine, but this isn't a contest. I’ll go ahead and say it, Godzilla is a mediocre performance platform.
While a decent truck engine due to being 445 ci (torque) it’s a middling performance engine.
I frankly don’t understand the continued excitement around this lump because it will *never* be the “Ford LS” for the simple reason it will never see a fraction of the LS’s production volume or application variations.
Even more damning, it offers similar displacement capacity to LS (4.53 vs 4.4” bore centers) because this is *also* not the new “Ford big block”.
Godzilla is in an essence a more expensive, less ubiquitous, more limited, less supported version of the LS and it doesn’t offer ANY architectural advantages over the LS save for out of the box displacement and a larger cam core.
Godzilla in my view is an LS without the LS’s biggest advantage - production volume.
Just like the LS the Godzilla will never go nearly as fast or hold as much power as something simple like a Predator block/Voodoo head Coyote without a significant investment in aftermarket block and cylinder head castings that alter (improve) much of that OE geometry.
At that point just do yourself a favor and swap to something on 4.80+ inch bore centers to really reap some rewards for the money spent.
I’m still disgusted the Boss was abandoned for this engine.
A Boss 2.0 with Siamese bores, Godzilla bore diameter, larger valves/ports and additional refinements would have not only been a superior truck engine but a wildly superior performance platform.
Imagine an aluminum block, 4-valve DOHC 6.9L Boss in the Raptor R or GT500, development made possible by sharing hard points with the Boss truck engines.
Instead we get the more expensive (vs. LS), less capable, less versatile (vs. Boss) Godzilla.
At least they saved a few bucks per unit in production costs but in the big picture as a F shareholder I’m very disappointed.
