The group heard about the death of Johnny Hodges. Teddy Wilson plays, and at the same time, it is if as he stares at some distant point; he does not look down at the keyboard, his thoughts are occupied with the loss. At 4:00, Bill Coleman is struck, hiding his swelling eyes. At 4:05 onwards, Ben Webster bursts into tears and begins to play. He is a couple of bars late but nods that he is ready, and begins his solo. For those who can recognise the music, from 5:05 until 6:05, Ben Webster plays several phrases in the style of Johnny Hodges, while tears drop from his eyes.
Thank you so very much!
Today's young people are no longer in a position to understand this kind of perfect music.
Teddy Wilson, a master pianist
Ben Webster the voice.
Everything is perfect.
Jedes mal, ... verdammt jedes mal kommen mir die Tränen, wenn ich Bens Sound mit dieser Melodie höre. 😪
This is beyond the sound of a tenor saxophone. It's the sound of a soul.
Сколько же счастья доставляют мне эти трое великих музыканта! я их и по отдельности слушаю с большим удовольствием. А сразу вместе их слушать и видеть просто счастье! Большое спасибо!
dont forget the wonderful Teddy Wilson!
Masterly, mature, beautiful, striking, deep in feeling, a picture of remembered love and grief...Ben and his colleagues are above much more comment.
