I suddenly feel in a trance, that everything that used to be wonderful !! in the world, might be slipping away. Where are the likes of this nowadays ?.
No you are not wrong, it is Niels Henning Orsted Petersen. I'm Danish (although living in the US since 1967) I often went to Montmatre Jazz Club (Jazz hus) in Copenhagen, saw Dexter Gordon several times. NHOP started playing there when he was 14-15 years old. I knew him from a boarding school I went to, when I was 15, his Dad was the Principal of the school, and Niels Henning was just starting to make a name for himself, he was a little younger than I, perhaps a year or so.
Excuse me but I'm afraid that something has being misunderstood. I won't write a single word from now on as a comment nor as an opinion. I just wanted to say that the bassist looked like NHOP but physically but not as a musician or so. Bye bye!!! And he Was NHOP!
The older I get the more I like Ben Webster. Unbeatable version of Danny Boy.

Niels went on to make a name for himself as one of the best bassists the likes of Ray Brown
