  • Yamaha HS5, HS7, HS8 Studio Monitors Review - still worth in 2023 / 2024 ?
Hello music enthusiasts! In today's review, we're taking a closer look at what I consider one of the top studio monitors/speakers on the market. The Yamaha HS monitors inherit their sonic philosophy and iconic design from the original NS-10s.
Is it still worth it in 2023 / 2024?
In this review we are testing the Yamaha HS series in 7 categories:
    00:59 - HS7 TRAILER
03:16 - 1. Tonal Balance (Low, Mid, High)
    03:44 - 2. Depth (Front to back)
    03:58 - 3. Stereo field accuracy
    04:05 - 4. Sweet spot
    04:13 - 5. Clinical vs. Colored
    04:53 - 6. Verdict
    05:27 - 7. Sound test
This review is purely my unbiased opinion, and I have not received any sponsorship or endorsements. Generally, studio monitors need to be experienced in person to truly appreciate their quality. Therefore, I recommend visiting your local music store to listen to them firsthand. 🎚️🎶🔊

nice vid. I have a question though. I own the HS7 now for a while. What I recognized is, that the mids and highs are very penetrating forward sounding. Which is one way good, because you really hear all the stuff, that you don't hear on hi-fi speakers or other monitors.
But I have the tendency to mix on the HS7 so that I have a balanced sound, like I would hear it out of good speakers. But what I probably should do is to mix, that the mids and highs really stick out (because that's the way I hear when listening to reference songs).
So what I want to say, I think I downmix the mids and highs because they are overemphasized when I hear them out of the 7s.
I have "okay" room treatment. So this shouldn't be solely the purpose.
So I guess my question is: would you then recommend some more "natural sounding" speakers like the JBL Mk2 or maybe Kali LP6 if I want to hear a balanced good monitor sound?
    Thank you for your thoughts.

maybe I didnt came across as clear..It was a throwback to the old Yamaha NS10 because they have some resemblance to HS series design and sound.☺
