young is one of those artists who can transcend different sub genres in rock...blues,bluegrass, grunge, hard rock, metal, folk and even country,a true legend
Neil just saunters on ... and the whole arena explodes! All the smiles in the band. So great! God, there's nothing greater than a great band in full flight.
Absolutely spot on mate. I was a grunge fan beginning '70s but I didn't know it back then. Grunge didn't know either. 😊I grew up with Neil Young's music.❤🤘
That was hands down the best live version that I have ever seen - nothing that I've previously seen comes close. I was blown away by Pearl Jam's guitarists (sorry I don't know their names) getting down with Neil Young. Eddie Vedder seemed blown away it all..... The drummer was incredible throughout!. I might listen to this rendition 10 more times before going to sleep tonight!
O.K. . I cannot keep quiet any longer. I was born in 1950 and after seeing Paul McCartney on bass on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 . well I've been playing ever since and still am. You young players ---- listen to those who have traveled your path before you --- but always listen to your heart --- rock and roll will never die.
+Steve Hilliard I was born in 51 so you got me by a year. I just wished Neil would just finish a song! His false stops get boring after 3 or 4 times that you think it's over....
+rockinran This is not a song, this is music and real music has no beginning or end. It's the sound of creation that filled the void before the dawn of time and will still sound when all else has faded into nothing.
When musicians keep ending a song like that it's because they are stoked and feel so much crowd energy that it's a lot like the end finale of a fireworks show.
But you get it? Right. So anyone who disagrees is wrong, si that it? I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that sort of megalomania and self-entitlement. Either way you're a terrible person.
i love it. How thrilling to be there when Mr. Young walks out on stage. Everything about it, the long jam that doesn't quite know where it's going, to Neil leading the way into the ending, and Matt Cameron going for the ending when Neil leads into a chorus and having to recover, to the which-chord-now ending. Lovely. Rock'n'roll.

I feel very fortunate. I'm 54, and at the time I started going to concerts, there was Winterland, the Cow Palace, Berkeley amphitheater, Oakland (indoor and Days on the green. I was lucky enough to see most of the bands playing in S.F. Thank you Uncle Bill, for making my childhood awesome.
FREE World ; ))) I am SO LUCKY to have seen NEIL YOUNG and PEARL JAM shows ......... PLEASE COME BACK TO FRANCE ... French PEOPLE are GREAT ROCK&METAL FANS .... especially when they are like ME ..... on their 50's 60's 70's 80's ....... ; )))
I love how Neil goes up to each musician to acknowledge them during that jam, and then pulls Eddie back to the mic to wrap it up. Great showmanship from one the greatest musicians/songwriters of all time. By the way, Spotify sucks ass.
Yeah now Neil Young promotes Amazon.... Like the music but the man is obviously very confused about justice. Plus it is quite ironic that the man who wrote this song wants to reduce free speech rather than promote it.

I saw Pearl Jam in front of no more than 300 viewers in March 1992 in Berlin. A kind of living room-gig. Then 3 years later with good old Neil in front of thousands of fans in summer of 1995, open air. Both concerts as if they couldn't have been more different, but both unforgettable.
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen! 2 true artists. Kudos to Neil for shreddinnggg on guitar. I hope we can get back to live shows soon after the quarantine.
The song lives on. I seen him play it on a show called Nightflight in 89 or 90. It had an appeal to all kinds of people back then and will always be as rock n roll as it gets.
That was incredible!!! Keep Rockin in the Free World guys!! I totally loved that!! Thank you for sharing this awesome video and who ever film this, great job!! 😊💓🤘✌️
The fight started a long time ago, but still here we are with even less FREEDOM, as we are not even allowed to have concerts. Wake up people of the world!
the energy level tripled when Young appeared . this is how,it was in the sixties . famous artists would just appear unannounced and sit n for a couple of songs . i really miss those days
What an Amazing performance by some Truly Talented Musicians with an Amazing Message. To All My Fellow Rock & Roll Fans ~ Keep On Rockin In The Free World ✌️♥️🎶
They are all part of the "I liked the original better crowd", because you know music is never supposed to be a form of artistic expression or anything.
"I wish music was like it was in 2011" LOL! I saw Neil in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, and 2000's - saw Pearl Jam twice in the 90's. But I "missed it" according to those even older than me. Possibly the greatest 12 minutes on TH-cam.
young is one of those artists who can transcend different sub genres in rock...blues,bluegrass, grunge, hard rock, metal, folk and even country,a true legend
when Neil Young shows up to jam...all hell breaks loose.
Neil needed Old Black.
Neil is old enough that he had to wear a diaper to make it through that long song.

This is my go to video when I'm in a shitty mood!! 12.34 minutes later I am transformed in to a better mood!
Neil Young.. brilliant jammin' with the Jam.. ageless.. loved his stuff since I was 16.. I'm now a month away from my 65th Birthday!
Neil just saunters on ... and the whole arena explodes! All the smiles in the band. So great! God, there's nothing greater than a great band in full flight.
@Dan Kline Fkg Aaaaaaaa, so much, too much awesomeness.
I've watched it countless times and still get goosebumps when he joins.
Gibt's den Auftritt auf CD, schau ihn mir immer wieder an Gänsehaut
Absolutely, I have seen a video, David Burne covered the song.
David's video inspired me to do it as well
And seems to be having a good time !
Ladies and gentleman the godfather of grunge has hit the stage
I never thought about him that way, but yep!!!!!!
Absolutely spot on mate. I was a grunge fan beginning '70s but I didn't know it back then. Grunge didn't know either. 😊I grew up with Neil Young's music.❤🤘
Mr Neil Young giving a masterclass in grunge and guitar to his musical friends and millions of fans. ♥️✊🏻❤️
Now you say it like that
He was grunge way before
Such a genius.
i'm a huge fan of Uncle Neil, but McCready stole this show
That was hands down the best live version that I have ever seen - nothing that I've previously seen comes close. Stone Gossard and Mike McCready I think
Yup
Just Enjoy My Friend
An exceptional live performance, those guitars, the drums, and the vocals all spot on. This is what live performances are all about.

The Old Man teaches a masterclass in rocking out.
That Young Neil has potential
Someone should sign him. I wonder if he does his own music!
Of course I'm kidding. I've got every one
No, he'll never last. Guitar bands are a passing fad.
neil,young,is,one,of,the,best,ever
I heave heard that he made a few albums and toured a little bit in his day.
This is the most rock thing I've seen in my entire life
One of the best nights of my 47 years on this spinning stone. Period.

Neil takes pains not to dominate the other musicians, but to be one with them.

To me it's much more than a song. It's the anthem.
One of the best performances ever.
Neil Young is a true legend 🤘🏿
people that put thumbs down to this just.....dont.....get it

look up Neil Young - Mirror Ball. it was an album with PJ and Neil Young playing
Mike McCready has to be one of the most underrated guitarists in history...he is incredible on the Strat...
damn right. God bless you.
How is it that Neil Young is older than I am, but whenever he gets on the stage he's younger? This performance kicks a$$!
He was born and will die Young.
