Africa very easy beat GS on off road but on tarmac and high speed cornering GS is, better! Africa is bike for more crazy guys, GS is just like a more easy comfortable ride !
Wow, great footage! Great bikes, great gear, great trails, great weather...looked like an awesome little trip! Good thing I watched the video, because from the comments I thought for a moment that to take a trip you had to have the cheapest, oldest, lightest bike ever made to prove how hardcore you are :/
Hello, What kind of tyres are on the Africa twin?? Brand and model pls! Recently bought a CRF1000A, made 300 km till now. Love it! Recommend for all of ya! 😁
yeah when they started the first Dakar rally they had all these electronic assistance and went in teams oh wait they didn't what's the adventure in having all this assistance and staying at top end hotels with assistance.
This may seem like a dumb question , but why do so many adventure bikes have spoke wheels ? I would think tubless tires would be far better a hundred miles from nothing and being able to just put a plug in a flat and pump it up and be on your way in 5 minuets . Am I missing something ?
@@rinat2481 Oh cool I have never seen a tubeless spoke wheel . I have a HD super glide that came with spokes and I bought mags to get away from having to call for a trailer . I don't have a adventure bike but am converting my old ninja for light off road riding with Pelican type bags and 50/50 tires . Would love to have the real thing but have the ninja payed for long ago and it is under 400 pounds so it is light and nimble . OK for the light stuff .
@@HaiMainite Guess I have been lucky I have never bent a wheel off road only in a car crash , but I was bent much worse than the wheel lol . I don't ride as hard as I did 40 years ago . But that is a good idea to carry a tube with you in case you do .
Reminds me of my Death Valley adventures on my 2011 Triumph Tiger 800XC. LOL, I was ahead of all the guys with their BMW GSs, Ducati’s and dual sports as well as a few dirt bikes! The rider and tires are more important than the bikes. You can have more power, better suspension, etc, and still pick a bad line and eat shit as it happened with a GS rider who went over the bars upside down.
yamaha serow 250 for adventure and trail riding its light and nimble, easy for repair. Most Japanese bike I guess easy for repair and the spare parts are easy to scout as comparing to its European rivals.
Can't wait till some company finally wills start to make bikes lighter then standard, instead of putting on them extra weight. The guys who really travels knows how to count kilograms.
I travel the world guys and these bikes are superior for everything but enduro trails which you will not find much out there.....Generally it is some kind of road....
(i) Yaa..up, like I sed it a couple-ar times b4, I'll just say it once more. These Adventure Bikes, (in my opinion) absolutely, absolutely "Need" the 'All (2) Wheel Drive' systems, like maybe those of USA invented + patented ' Christini or Lawson ' type Drive Systems on bikes in this category/segment. (ii) This new Bimmer 12-50 is absolutely as gorgeous still, howevr the contrary unfortunately was had with the AT's physical aesthetics, at going what ?..vintage (is that what this is) ? probably, with its rather retro-early looking type styling, whatmore especially so with as well the reversion to the troublesome or probably evn a potential "breakdown" hazard, "Chain Drive". Howevr.., it really is a wonder why an engine of this 'Boxer' type was chosen for such, "Off-the-Beaten-Path" type bike, in the 1st place. While the Powerplant is absolutely great & evrything in its own right. It but howevr unfortunately still is of a "transversal" type configuration set-up, wic often snags up foliage protrusions or out-hanging twig-branches, when especially one has on as well a 'block-head' protection roll-cage, like these. Besides, if that protuberance so happen hits a rock protrusion at considerable travel speeds, it coud abruptly, violently flip or like "Yaw" the bike horizontally to any 1 of its 2 sides. Wudnt it be even better had it instead been made, at retaining this 'Boxer' still, but turning that around 90º horizontally & now becomes instead a "Longitudinal" config., however tho the crank & tranny housing-box necessitates some serious revising or make-over. Since the Bimmer Co.has such great Automatic transmissions, why then not carry-over these exceptional traits over to the bikes division as well. This all may come as somewhat of a considerable technical challenge, but then has any technology related thingy evr been too much of a technical challenge to Germans ?
@@MrShinta786 I tried many times.. Going to our dealership in kuwait.. They dont show interest in helping.. Ended up picking up bmw rninty.. May be next time i do a better research and find a good mechanic who can help me
I am 5'7 and ride a Africa twin. the trick is to buy the optional lower seat and put it in the low position on the bike. this lowers the seat height by about 2" (50mm)
I have the AT with L2 and with a soupys adjustable lowering link all most 4’’ and drop front tree 11/16 “ at 5’5’’ flatfoot both feet all day on road and seat height from 35 in now at 33” with lower position with factory seat , with the very hard and after market lower set its 31 “ .. my sag is set dead nuts middle of the adjustment and i got proper sag for me . I got 9 in of clearance vs 10’’ factory setting .. so give up a 1’’of ground clearance for lower bike and easy of stoping on rough ground its worth it.. how it handles is amazing on road i can easy figure 8 in 2 wide parking lot spaces with turning and highway is solid at speed over 90 mph with normal wind burst from trucks and rvs.. i ride over 650 miles a week and daily driver..
Man Europe is so beautiful. Too bad for it’s crappy economy. It’s got to be government meddling at it’s very core, because it’s got everything it needs for sustaining itself. Now...As for the bikes. No to chain-drive period. Most of the angst against BMW comes from rebellion of it’s price point. If a Beemer were priced like an African Twin more peeps be ridin that Beemer...guaranteed.

Seems insane to throw that many farkles on a bike and pretend you're accomplishing any kind of real adventure or whatever self-image you make for yourself... whenever I see people with this level of ridiculousness I can't help but think they're missing the whole point of adventure riding by overloading themselves and their machine with unnecessary gadgets and eye-catching trinkets just to go down a dirt road or camp in a campground next to a Prius or, given a slight modicum of adventure next to a pickup truck 😂. All you need for adventure riding is a good jacket, waterproof duffle bag and some basic amenities but that's probably why I can camp with my GS in areas that are actually noteworthy.
That Africa Twin looks amazing in yellow!
Luv the soundtrack of that Honda, and super-capable too!
