  • THIS IS HOW TO SPEED UP YOUR GOLF CART: READ THIS!
    The power train Hop Up of this cart is complete. A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped me out on the Buggies Gone Wild site! This is how you make your golf cart faster...MUCH faster! New Motor, Speed Controller, Solenoid, Wires, Tires, Wheels, Lift kit, Various gun racks and lights. This video will cover the power train parts and where I got them all is listed below. I will say that the all sports lift is VERY hard riding. The front end is also unstable at higher speeds off road with very little articulation and a lot of forward and back slop in the a-arms causing a lot of side to side drift in the front end. It is a great price for what you get, but you might be better off to save up for a better kit unless this one is just for show at the campground.
    Phase 1 video covering the lift is here: • Phase 1 Hunting Cart B...
    This cart has a ton of torque and plenty of power for hill climbing, towing, hauling etc and still runs about 24-25 MPH. It is a great off road hunting buggy. Please tell these people below that Scott from TH-cam sent you!

    Scott, did you ever get a range on the cart with all of the upgrades? Please include an approximate weight of everything in the cart (including people) if possible. I'm interested in building one of these but I need to make sure it can cover about 5 miles.

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't really have a place to put that much on it at once so no. As far as weight, I don't know what the cart weighs but figure about 700# for 3 of us, plus 3 guns, gear bags, and dragging a deer that weighs 125#+ No problem, including hills.

    I have a 1988 ezgo electric golf cart that just stopped running? I will not go forward or backward when I push down on the accelerator. The batteries are fully charged but the cart will not move. I do not hear the solenoid clicking when I push down on the accelerator? Should I replace the solenoid or is there another problem I am not seeing?

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jack ludwig If you don't hear the solenoid click that is probably it. Go ahead and get a heavier one. I burned mine up when I put the new speed control on. (Knowing that was likely to happen) My cart upgrades went a little at a time. I think there are links to parts in the description below the video.

      thanks for your reply. after charging the batteries for 24 hours I now get a clicking sound from the solenoid but it still does not run. I have 36V on one side of the solenoid but no voltage on the other side so I have concluded the solenoid is not working and will replace it. If that doesn't fix the problem I am not sure where else to look.

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That, I couldn't tell you but I would think you could just convert the whole thing to 48V since you are going to be buying all new guts anyway. Search out converting 36v golf cart to 48V and start there.

    I have a Yahama Drive,that my best speed one time was 32,any time I get to 30 my controller cuts it back.
    I average 28/29 and quite frankly is plenty.

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Micheal Trevino With my lift kit, 25 is borderline dangerous. 30 would be insane. This kit is great for low seep but the front end had way to much drift in it especially on uneven terrain.

    • @michealtrevino6117
      @michealtrevino6117 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, my cart is not lifted but I managed to get 205/ 65/ 10s on it without rubbing.
      I use my cart for work in a golf cart community, and drive on road.
      One nice thing about the Drive it comes stock with internal disk breaks.
      I bartered for the cart and it was customized by the seller,it is a 2012 but I do not know what he included in his build as far as performance.
      I added heavier wires and it has amazing range,I can use it all day and still play 9 holes in evening before dark.

      jrandpeggyful It's an 8" All Sports lift. I'm actually not really happy with it. It would be fine for a campground setting, but at speed it's not stable in the front end and rides rough as hell off road. I plan on moving to a long travel kit when I can to get the same lift and a safer ride.

    Does anyone use lithium battery packs? Smaller, lighter, more amps if needed depending on the parallel configuration. What is the amp output of your circuit? You said 51 v, so these are apparently in series. I'm sure this is the least expensive option the way you have it hooked up, but it would be cool to see like a 12s 10p battery setup with lithium 18650 Batts, maybe even push the voltage higher with an extra circuit you could switch off and on for the turbo action!! Anyway, cool cart. I'm going to be grabbing one soon to tootle around here on and I'm trying to decide between gas and electric. Both appeal to me, so I'm weighing options.

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nurzrachit I chose electric because I wanted quiet and simple, and no gas. Mine is working great and doing all I need done. Not sure on Amp output, and really would rather spend money in a lift upgrade than battery conversion to Lipo....

    I have an EZ GO 36 volt golf cart that I have put 6:1 gear ratio differential. Also Alltrax 400 amp controller and heavy duty forward/reverse switch. I have also put 4 ga cables I can run at 28 mph on level road but not enough power on hills. My question is what do I need to do to change to a 48 volt system. I don't need more speed, just more torque on hills.

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably a new motor unless yours can handle 48 check your speed controller and sol to make sure they are good for 48V along with the 48V battery pack. That might do it.

    • @tonilafond5216
      @tonilafond5216 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a similar setup in my EZGO TXT except I had a 500 amp controller. I converted to 48V. I then had to upgrade my Solenoid (MJZ400 Super Duty Solenoid from cartsunlimited.net because the "HD" solenoid - which was a 48v solenoid failed within a few months) and an HD F&R switch from cartsunlimied (because the standard F&R switch also failed after the switch). No problems since.

    I am thinking about purchasing a 2009 ezgo cart. asking 4500 hundered. it's lifted it looks in great condition with speakers etc. however I think the batteries are the original. how long do the batteries last and how much much would be to replace them all on an average.

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Xavier Vel Well kept batteries can easily go 8-10 years. I know a guy on 10 year old ones now. Charge after every use and keep the water up correctly will help. Keeping it indoors in the winter when not in use helps too. That sounds like a pretty good deal.

    • @ixsmaelable
      @ixsmaelable 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott Gregg I'm looking at this 2009 ezgo. It's 6 years which would be borderline. how can I see if the batteries are well kept?

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Xavier Vel You really can't. You can check the water level in them now though. Are they relatively clean or are they a mess with acid and corrosion everywhere? How about the cart? You can usually tell by looking around under the seat if it's been well kept by the overall condition in there. A really good set of batteries goes about $900

      Scott Gregg I don’t recommend the 23” tires with 14s. If you do a 6” lift like I have I’d use 22” tires with 12” wheels. When I got rid of the 23s it increased my torque 30%.

    I'm in the maintenance department at work and the golf course gives us an electric golf cart to use. I hear we need a programmer to make it go faster but I'm wondering if you have any simple hacks for that. It goes pretty slow and all the other ones are a lot faster. Please help if you know how without a bunch of modifications so I don't get yelled at. Thanks!

      It is possible that the speed sensor is gone...my cart speed dropped down to about 5 mph. I purchased a new sensor off Amazon for 45 bucks and installed it myself. Takes about 10 minutes to change out...

    There is a difference between torque (power) and traction. Traction is determined by weight and tire size (if any difference).

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Torque is how much power it takes to turn those wheels when you are getting traction. Traction is GREAT with these. With this setup and current programming it will top out at about 23MPH, and go 10+mph up a fairly steep hill with 3 men and gear on it. PLenty of power for what we are doing with it.

      Links to everything are in the description below the video. When you upgrade the motor you are going to have to get the Speed controller and Solenoid and wires to handle the extra amps too and keep stuff running cool. I put in the SC and Sol first and melted down the stock motor on the second day haha.

    I seen your review on the allsport lift and followed your link here. I have a few questions for you. It says I can use 10" rims only? I bought 12" rims and 23" tires for mine. will that work?
    where can I buy the extended break lines?
    with the 8" allsport lift is there any other special things I'll have to do? thanks!

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin C I don't know about the tires, they might rub a bit on turning if the rims are not offset enough but I just don't know. There should be contact info and links to stuff in the description below the video including info on the brake lines. I had to fabricate a plate to connect them under the cart to the mount though. No big deal. The biggest thing to know about the All Sports lift is that is rough riding and very unstable when going fast. I love it for coolness and ground clearance, but would probably save my money and use a different lift next time. Hope that helps

      Andrei, I'm not sure. I've run it for a few years now an not run out. I have a new battery pack in it now and have not tested that part out. If I did, I'll need a tow back to the house haha. I'd guess at least 5 miles if not 10! I would also think a steady discharsge would be harder on the pack than and stop and go type day.

      Willie Guzman 32 on this buggy, with this lift/tire combo would get you a quick ambulance ride. Way too unstable. I will do a better lift on the next one. You don't want this one going over about 25 anyway and that is pushing it. But it will climb a tree with torque!

    see I thought about making my electric cart faster.. but I need new batteries. and by the time I buy new batteries and an engine then i can already convert to gas cart where I can have a Max speed of so much more with more power and range. without the hassle of charging and over heating and for half the price

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      True...but mine is quiet. :-) THat's what I was going for or I would just buy a side by side UTV and forget it.

    • @tracytillett
      @tracytillett 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol true. it was hard to decide whether to go gas or electric but its crazy how much batteries cost and really all of the parts for electric upgrade. its like $500 for a good motor, $400 for the controller, $800 for batteries. but i would like to have both an electric and gas. the only thing is you can a gas one while using the electric motor axle and basically just have to re run the throttle and attach an engine and gas tank. so total of about $800. cheapest utv i find is in the thousands.. why is all of this stuff so expensive!?

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I figure I have about $3k in it and could probably sell it for 5K. Batteries to me are Gas and oil changes that lasts for 8 years. But I certainly get it.

    • @tracytillett
      @tracytillett 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes I will probably spend $800 A year on gas but In return I get longer drive time and allot more torque and power. that's really what i wanted. i was going to do an electric with solar panels on the roof. (another $800) to increase range by almost 75% but having 20hp in A 400cc engine just seemed to overwhelm me with joy
