honest question: would you really watch stuff @ 20% brightness? Wouldn't a fixed nits level make more sense that is about 50% brightness or 200-250 ish nits? Only in the dark would anyone turn it down.
The HP Omen Transcend 14 gets a bad rap for having lower GPU wattage and 20% less performance than the G14. But I'm glad you emphasized one its high points: The keyboard. It is absolutely sublime to type on, the best I've ever used on a laptop. The laptop is also very quiet: If you use Lossless Scaling for upscaling from 1280x800 with 3x frame gen, you can actually run AAA titles like Helldivers 2 at 120 fps....in ECO mode, with whisper quiet fans. Not lying!
Where the Asus falls in competition due to the high heat and fan noise, that should have been shown on a graph. Seems a bit too convenient that the weakness is not visualized, while the company sponsors a laptop...
I'd love to go for the legion 5 slim. However, it's ONLY available now with 16 GB ram which just isn't enough. 32 GB should be standard, or at leas upgradeable to
Man I wished they didn't absolutely destroy the 4050 px13 here in Canada. 24gb of ram, and a downgraded processor for the same price as the American model is robbery.
Ben G14 is really amazing but unfortunately for some reason mine killed it's battery, after a couple of months lost about 30%, maybe cause of the hi temperatures during gaming? 😒
My previous gen g14 died after very little use (gpu fried itself). Not the first time an Asus product died on me either. I'll take any other Laptop on this list.

@@paneledp nah, the A14 is pretty solid choice it has slightly better performance than the 2024 g14 while remain cooler and especially significantly longer battery life (nearly like an ultrabook level of battery life) but all of that for lesser build quality than the G14. The first g14 I got in 2023 had a line of dead pixels on day 2. And on the replacement unit the plastic on the bottom was cracking and falling off. So yeah... Asus is not seeing my money any time soon
Depends on portability or performance, g14 is meant to be a more premium macbook type laptop, while legion is a more rugged higher performance laptop, but is heavier and has less battery
It sucks that all new 14 inch laptops im interested in getting are only OLED. I dont want to baby a screen by taking several steps when ips has nothing to worry about. The g14 2024 is what i want, but the OLED screen makes it not worth it, as stated before.

I do sometimes when I'm traveling and I'm watching a movie at night in bed, but that's about it. It's not the normal use case for a laptop.

Great vid, was hoping for MSI Stealth to be included in this comparison

I love my g14. I have two of them, the 2023 and 2024 models and they are both awesome.
Damn i loved my G14 but it killed the battery in 6 months time, went 30% down for some reason, maybe high temperature? :(

Major setback for me with G14 seems to be 16GB soldered ram that makes me not want to buy it.
Slim for the win, 2 ssds should always be an option. All offer soldered RAM so they all lose in that department

Its just a worse version of older g14s which you can find at the same price now
