unfortunately, linear means there is less community around it. as it is linear, there is not much after you beat the game, whereas if it's overloading the player with choices, a lot of people will find little random gems here and there that others missed. i would play 10 games similar to of orcs and men, but others seem to be turned off by linear. of orcs and men is the exception of linear games imo. the perfect amount of combat, story, level design, but in the end it is linear and i didnt want to replay it.
Styx Master of Shadows in definitely their best game. I am currently playing OOaM again, I've always loved Styx in it, he's just great. Master of Shadows is very different and I like the mechanics way better than the system they used here, but it's still fun.
Salzblut wtf is up with this dumb combat system. It should be turn based. I can't tell who I commanded him to hit and when so it becomes fighting one man at a time. Also switching characters in combat doesn't make much sense. Looks like they wanted to be like dragons age but dragons age it's very clear who u marked to attack next.
I really played this game to have some conclusion to the story started in Styx:Master of Shadows, which was an incredible stealth game. It was an OK game but the story was really good!
It is part rpg in that you can cater your stealth play to your preferred method of completing levels. Plus, I really like the lore. It's a pity they never finished the story.
Thanks for that helpful review. I will have to try this game now. It seems like a mix of older rpg elements and newer ones. I really like the idea of being able to stop or pull back so you can plan how to handle an encounter. It makes it more tactical. It also looks like it is more on the quirky side and I like that. As far as your review, I appreciate that you spoke clearly, made sense and gave us useful information. I know some people complained that you didn't give a clear verdict. Thank you for that. I don't need someone to tell me what to play. I can make up my own mind. If I am looking at a video review to show me what the game is like and bring out various aspects of the gameplay. You did that. Thanks!
this is the best game I have ever played. Sountrack like game of thrones but has better story. The game is also a bit difficut if your build is not good you may not even finish the game so you must restart it.
LEARN Bioware LEARN....this is how you create a RPG game FOR gamers. If you guys haven't bought this already do it ASAP, I'm sure this will be one of the best RPGs in your collection.
Very nice and we'll informed review ^_^ love your choice of words, and simple, relatable metaphors that arnt over the top, you should be working for one of the bigger gaming companies, subscribed ^_^
the game looks cool tho i wich you could choose wich one to play and then only play as him like i realy love the look of the stealths gameplay is it worth buying if you only like the stealth aspect? and ofc like rpgs?
I recently saw this game up to rent and stream on my ps4 so i was curious as to whether or not it was good enough to want to actually do so. I definitely want to play it now that ive seen this review. But should i buy it for pc? Or just pay 8 bucks and rent it for a month on my ps4? Decisions decisions.
That was a difficult area...but I managed to get through on Normal Level. You gotta try spamming Raise Ally to get through. Finish all the ground troops first, then use Throw Goblin to get Styx up there. Place Arkail in a location away from the archers eg. another side of the building. Use Styx to clean out the archers, whenever he falls, use Raise Ally from Arkail to wake him up. Repeat the process then the archers would be gone.
Have to say I never really liked 'time stopping' combat games, but it never ruined my overall experience of the games... think am gonna give this one a try.
play on easy or normal then. i completed the game without many deaths. also u should try an attack the enemies when their away from their allies like when they walk around
Goodish game, had a quite tough time at some parts. Some parts are complete bull like the final boss battle. That took me forever. Only enemy in the game that heals. Great music though. Funny thing is that I was on normal. Tried it on insane and couldn't get past the tutorial xD. Super difficult but ok
Fantastic story! Beautiful world! Game play sucks! The line up attacks combat style, and control of two characters in combat was tedious and boring! The Goblin dies if you blink, and the Orc will rage taking control away form you (at which point he kills the goblin) unless you constantly burn turns to calm him down. If you do take the time to calm the Orc expect to get raped every time you do so. By the end of the game I was picking rage inducing attacks to get it over with, and just playing the Goblin through combat as support for a bot that gets stuck on corners. Once the Orc rages it is just as likely to turn, and attack the Goblin so combat becomes "Hit and run the fuck away!" The actual game play is just move, and fight. It's a "hack and slash" without any real control of the "hacking and slashing". The stealth play is like a bad joke as the enemies can only see the stealthed Goblin if its sucking their dick, or skull fucking the guy next to them. Linear levels, and bad game play aside. I really enjoyed it! But with out levels and game play your just watching a bad CG cartoon with a good story. I fill the game makers could do better, and look forward to the prequel Styx:Master of Shadows.
If you like RPG's with a more tactical combat you should take a look... it's like he said, the beginning is not very good... but once you endure this part the game becomes great and the perfect soundtrack complement everything!
Hmm I've always battered an eye towards this title but never got to buy it, but you did peak my interest in it now. You have a smooth style for reviewing I enjoyed watching your video. I think it's time to rape my mind with this game :P Lol.
yeah the whole 'psychic rape' thing was really dumb. Great game, but it was clear the designer was going for shock value rather than giving any nuance or insight sexually traumatic experience.
i do not understand this. it's a tactical rpg. maybe it's misleading that people seem to assume it's action oriented, but it plays like other rpg like kotor and neverwinter and things like that. unless you think kotor is also 'unfortunate', the system is the same. combat actions are cancelled when the target it was selected on dies. if you queue up actions that are on another target still alive, those actions are not cancelled at all, so i dont understand the sentiment that this game is "buggy". the only particular bug is that if you rely on the auto attack/targetting system, it won't reliably auto attack or auto target. but if you are manually selecting everything, it doesn't bug. actions on a dead target disappearing is normal.
i see i'm not the only one who finds time stopping games annoying. they just ruin the mood for me, especially the ones that stop the music all together. like dragon age, hate that game so much.
The fighting system is so STUPID! It may be 'deep' but it isn't fluid! All the dam 'time-stopping' makes it boring! What is happening to games today.... Wait for a Steam sale or you'll regret paying full price for this game!
I'm here from Styx.
I really don't understand why "linear" is such a bad word amongst the gaming community. There's more amazing "linear" games out there than arnt.

If you're a fan of stealth games then definitely. They did extremely well with level design.
It is part rpg in that you can cater your stealth play to your preferred method of completing levels. Plus, I really like the lore. It's a pity they never finished the story.
Yeah, lots of ways to approach each level.
There's apparently a sequel to that game coming this year, proper hyped aha
A sequel to Orcs & Men?!
Seems like a sleeper hit, which is a shame, because it looked interesting without being to obnoxious with it's story and lore.
i like overwhelming amounts of story and lore
Psychic rape I am sold!
My cousin helped develop this game.
Nico?
This games combat is so retarded.
Im sure he did

nice review bud- but the combat is a no go for me- taking a breather while being a giant orc just isnt fun >,< HULK SMASH!!!

You didn't know? This is what I do when I'm not making movies.
loved the way you approached this review..subscribed!
I enjoyed the review. It definitely has me interested in playing this game before its sequels.

Solid review. ahh the old days, times were so simple then..
This game is on sale for another hour or so on steam.
Fantastic review! I'm pretty interested in this little sleeper. I just happened across it on the PSN store!
Have to say I never really liked 'time stopping' combat games, but it never ruined my overall experience of the games... think am gonna give this one a try.
Very good review, I just subscribed to your channel, I hope to see great things from now on.
great review. looking forward for more reviews like this
Great review my friend. Subscribed - keep up the good work!
u can set attacks to LT and RT so u dont have to time stop
Good and informative review. I'm 1 step closer to getting this game.
play on easy or normal then. i completed the game without many deaths. also u should try an attack the enemies when their away from their allies like when they walk around

The last boss was time consuming? I played in normal, and took me 1 min to kill the fucker!
Luan X lucky you then lol

Well, it’s been four years. What did you think of Styx: Master of Shadows?
"Psychic Rape".
What?
If you like RPG's with a more tactical combat you should take a look... it's like he said, the beginning is not very good... but once you endure this part the game becomes great and the perfect soundtrack complement everything!
$27 on steam right now, gonna try it out.
The combat really, really, really doesnt work in this game. They should have gone for a realtime melee/hack'n'slash type.
So the two greenskins are George and Lennie from "Of Mice And Men" basically
This game had me at mind rape.
Nice in depth review, though a bit too linear and short for my tastes.
The game that is.
Great review. I think I'll buy this game looks like a decent RPGs
I hope they'll make a reboot, keeping everything but texture and gameplay. Damn the combact is annoy
on steam right now for $19...its a steal...
awesome review man!
really good job with the review
Great Review!
awesome review.

I love the sequels.
Good review.
I never thought I'd hear Owen Wilson say Mind rape!
Im here from fanatical bundle of orcs and men and styx
Its like the hulk wearing daisy dukes shorts...
"A Psychic Rape"
isn't playing well on my Atari
styx hes styx what about styx new game styx master of shadows
yes
ah...a time when you could mind rape in a game :)) also got here from Styx: Master of Shadows
As a story it’s amazing but the combat system is unfortunate

This review does not help me at all.. I don't know if I should get it or not...
i see i'm not the only one who finds time stopping games annoying.
they just ruin the mood for me, especially the ones that stop the music all together.
like dragon age, hate that game so much.
I don't know but I would much rather that this game was a hack and slash.
id give it a 6.0
75% off on steam
haha, imagine how crazy it would be if you were owen wilson!!! I actually am Jon Hamm, dont tell anybody that im a closet gamer
i'm just not gonna buy this game because i don't wanna play as an orc or goblin, i want to fight as a human! :p
20 bucks on origin right now, pc download
Even if game have 12 years is way better than those WOKE DEI games they are super crap games.
sometimes you sound like owen wilson
the game it's awesome, but the gameplay and the combat system sucks.
Sure, but in this game it just seems all wrong for this type of game.
"Mind Rape"
wut.
this game sounds like a bad script for a buddy movie...
The fighting system is so STUPID! It may be 'deep' but it isn't fluid! All the dam 'time-stopping' makes it boring! What is happening to games today.... Wait for a Steam sale or you'll regret paying full price for this game!
... maybe you're just not a good gamer...
This review were so good that u just got yourself your first Swedish subscriber. :D
