    You have to do the full delete kit. Replacing the special lifters with regular lifters and change the cam. Not just the valley tray.

    So here's a little info for you if you do a DOD delete here is some info. 1 if you just turn it off in the ecm your fine unless your having a tick from lifter failure. If you replace the dod lifters and want to completely eliminate the DoD you need to change the camshaft a dod delete cam has a grove machined into the second cam Journal so oil will pass to the Dod replacement lifters . There oiled threw the dod solenoid plate. If you delete the dod solenoid plate the cam needs replacement. Sorry.

    thought this was gonna be a bs video saying all these block off plates were no good as I'm about to put one on mine with LS7 lifters, had me worried for a minute, but glad to see that that wasn't the case. Good info to have for people that don't want to tear their motor down to the block, definitely gonna be good advice for anyone who sees this, or anybody that asks somebody that has seen this video about it. I love finding videos on stuff like this that cover a niche group of people, that take a different route to manage an issue and find good valuable info for the next guy to encounter, helps a lot more people than one might think. Same situation. 2007 Tahoe 4wd LTZ. Massive oil leak from back of motor/trans bell housing area... that's easy, the rear main seal is leaking... WRONG. Like an idiot i pulled the trans/tcase and everything out to replace the rear main seal and what do i find, the name and date of the previous owner from when he changed the rms. It was never leaking, it was the three rear bolts on the VLOM that were loose and leaking oil.. The following weekend I pulled intake and torqued the vlom bolts and no more oil leak. Unfortunately that was the first of many problems with this Tahoe. AFM, Flex Fuel and way too damn many sensors have ruined a great vehicle.

    I'm sorry, but I knew what was going to happen the second you installed that block off plate. The way DOD works as you found out is it diverts oil through the solenoid tops during normal operation and closes applying full oil pressure to run in DOD. You essentially put it into DOD all of the time doing the block off. You can also damage the lifters latching bridge so be ready for that. Great info either way.

    • @GHuggins

      @@greddmyles3677 You only do the lifters if you do the cam too. The lobes are cut on different base circles and the dod lifters are taller for the different base circle. If he only did the lifters then he would have to do pushrods for the difference for those specific cylinders. By doing the block off plate he forced full oil pressure to the lifters unlocking their pins essentially making it run in DOD during cold starts and high oil pressure instances.

    had a DOD lifter on my 08 that had enough internal spring pressure to keep slack out of valve train but not locking up to move rocker arm.
    Anyway, I just replaced the pair of DOD lifters and had ECM programing removed. That was at 74,000. Currently at 212,000. Maybe i got lucky, I know removing the programming isn't going to fix bad lifters, but maybe not letting them actuate will decrease the odds of them failing

  • @marklindquist2494
    @marklindquist2494 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I still have to think that rear main is leaking you cant see it from the inspection plate because you are seeing the wrong side of the flex plate. It also looks like that front seal is trashed and you need a new cam and lifters plus access to write the ECM to turn off DOD. You get spark plug #8 by removing the inner fender and its not so hard. I just did this to my 08 Pick up because just like you oil was leaking out faster than i could put it in, exactly like you i had an oil pan in the driveway to catch it all.

      But if you don’t know entirely how it works then you would be led to believe that you can just block those ports off.

    Wtf? Just turn it off! It’s literally one click and you don’t have to install some sketchy plate inside your engine!

    If it were that simple, we would have to spend $2000 on parts to remove DOD

    2 weeks ago i had a lifter replacement done on my 07 suburban they said everything looked and ran great.......Till everything happened again exactly 2 weeks later in the same spot..... Cylinder 1 intake failed again. I kinda know my stuff so removed the valve cover and sure as shit same lifter. Took it back sense i didn't have time in the first place to do it myself and paid $1900, they now found that the valley was starving oil from that lifter. They are taking care of me at no cost but the new valley and any other damages if they find any......Just sucks that this great shot has to eat the cost because of GMs shit. When i pick up my truck ill be dropping off pizza for the entire shop, im not rich but fell bad that a new business is going to eat the cost.
