had a DOD lifter on my 08 that had enough internal spring pressure to keep slack out of valve train but not locking up to move rocker arm. Anyway, I just replaced the pair of DOD lifters and had ECM programing removed. That was at 74,000. Currently at 212,000. Maybe i got lucky, I know removing the programming isn't going to fix bad lifters, but maybe not letting them actuate will decrease the odds of them failing

I might consider more power but stopping and fuel consumption

This is a perfect example of what not to do… You need to do the complete DOD/AFM delete not change out the cover! I was shaking my head when he said he was going to replace the cover and I knew this wasn’t going to end well…. It’s like putting on new brake pads on worn rotors 🤣

This is the exact reason why so many people are retarded. Make videos trying to explain things that you obviously have no idea wtf you're talking about. Everyone wants to feel special but you end up looking like a fool. have fun replacing that motor in a while.

You think GM would have learned off their Cad that did that years ago and didn't work and people have to reengineer their mistakes because they are a big piece of 💩 have a blessed day today 🙏

I don’t even know where to begin. What’s clear is you don’t belong anywhere near the engine of any car.

Not a true LS3 at all. Not even close. What this is- is a 6.0 (L96) with LS3 heads. LS3 is a 6.2 which is more displacement. It has bigger compression, far bigger than the 6.0. LS3 has a better crankshaft than the L96, better mains, better lifters, better intake. L96 is MAYBE making 500 at the crank if it has a big camshaft and long tube headers. But it ain't making 600hp+ without changing out your internals. L96 is losing at the line vs an LS3 all day every day. People confuse this comparison ALL the time. I have an 07 Escalade that had an Aluminum L92 6.2 which is even CLOSER to an LS3 than the L96... But I ended up swapping that out for a REAL LS3/ LS9 Aluminum block with a Fast 102 intake and a stage 4 TSP cam. My L92 could never put out the numbers and LS3 can without changing internals, and that's a fact. Maybe not label your video "Budget LS3" without actually showing an L92 with converted LS3 components, or an L99 block with VVT delete.

Happens all the time on plow trucks it’s cast aluminum they just snap or someone is having a bad day and they pull to hard. Parts are cheap at least from ford to fix it.

Awesome info man! I’m new to all this. My 14 yo son and I picked up a 2001 camaro and we want to put a 6.0 with a 4l80 in it. What would be the best donor. I have a buddy that suggested a 99-2002 2500 or 3500 with 2wd. He said having a donor with the pcm harness motor and trans make it easy. We aren’t looking for crazy power or to build it like crazy. Plan to just put in a decent cam. Trying to stay away from vvt and dod. Just want to freshen seals and a cam and slap it in. Thanks for all the great info.

So all you did was replace the vlom? With no plug on the vlom plate, you are gonna have an engine light as soon as it tries to activate. You either have to do a complete delete or tune it out of the ECM.

As long as you do the full delete (new lifters, new cam, new valley plate and turn off the selector in the tune), this IS the best thing you can do for your AFM GM engine. Period.
