- The trials of the Pendle witches in 1612 are among the most famous witch trials in English history, and some of the best recorded of the 17th century. The twelve accused lived in the area surrounding Pendle Hill in Lancashire, and were charged with the murders of ten people by the use of witchcraft. All but two were tried at Lancaster Assizes on 18-19 August 1612, along with the Samlesbury witches and others, in a series of trials that have become known as the Lancashire witch trials. One was tried at York Assizes on 27 July 1612, and another died in prison. Of the eleven who went to trial - nine women and two men - ten were found guilty and executed by hanging; one was found not guilty.

I remember being a young kid at school and we walked to Newchurch grave yard to take impressions of the head stones. Locals are used to it and with that accent she isn't a local anyway😆

I’m amazed at how well composed and respectful you guys were with her. I’m just completely mind blown that she couldn’t stick to her own story correctly, as it seems she was just making it up as she was talking. I can understand wanting to respect a sacred space, but she was disrespecting not only you guys, but the church itself by speaking for them and trying to hush the people trying to document history.

The first woman killed in the Salem witch trials was one of my direct ancestors named Bridget Bishop she died at ~60 years old and was married 3 times widowed twice. Her maiden name was Magnus and she was a tavern owner. She was killed because she "Bewitched" 5 people.(the family knows it was a lie.)

As somebody that knows one of the descendants of Alice Nutter personally and whose whole family comes from around Pendle - watching that women freak out about you guys being in the graveyard is one of the most frustrating things I have ever witnessed 😩

I was watching this video while my partner was asleep next to me and during the part where Dan asked to make a deal with the Devil my partner told me they had a dream of a silver colored wolfdog with yellow eyes and a grin sauntering over to Dan. I also wanted to add my partner didn’t hear anything prior to this scene. So they weren’t aware of the dog familiars. Very interesting. 👀

I’ve never heard about these witches before, and the story is fascinating - especially the snow patch of the white Witch! I’m not sure if growing up in Massachusetts it’s what made me interested in witches and spooky things, but for as long as I can remember I would be getting books from the Library about the Salem Witch Trials, and it seemed to all stem from there. This video is great so far, thank you for this content! All of the UK guides and hosts are amazing story tellers! If they were my High School teachers, I might have listened! ✌🏼💚🧙👻🇺🇸

I live really near here, it's so great to see that people do actually investigate these places as I've had some crazy stuff happen to me in the area and in my house which isn't that far off at all. I would recommend visiting Lancaster Castle (where the trials for the pendle witches happened) and parts of Lancaster generally as well, it's definitely haunted, I've been spending a lot of time researching about it and the deaths that occurred there, and also around the river wyre, another good place to explore. Hope to see you round there sometime

This whole experience just feels like an RPG game with the first NPC narrating a partial lore of this location enthusiastically and the second NPC woman confronting you and joining your roster on the adventure to uncover more of the stories after you've hit all the right conversation choices. The journey feels extremely bizarre to begin with.

As someone who lives locally to Pendle Hill and Newchurch in Pendle I am embarrassed of the lady who angrily approached you. It is very rare you get people like her locally and you all handled it very well! I have grown up here and lived around here for the 22 years I have been alive and I would never refuse anyone the opportunities to share our story and investigate as this is something I do regularly. Amazing documentary guys!

I honestly thought she may have been dealing with internal issues, maybe even felt guilty or responsible for the unwanted attention in her village because of her book. I hope that she finds support in a way and felt bad that she needed to defend it in that manner. Sometimes we just don't know what others may experience on a daily basis. But overall yes, not the best behavior to have, just felt it was more of a defensive or coping strategy from my perspective.

Okay I know that the lady was technically a “Karen” but when they were talking about how they were kind of suspicious of that Lady. No lie, she did not feel right. Least your first clawing wasn’t like my classmates. Him and a couple of knuckleheads from the dorm on the corner of the campus decided to buy a board from the local curio shop across the tracks. Nice owner, but honestly needed to learn his history, tried selling a knights of Columbus sword as a free mason sword. Same night they use it, power goes out across the campus and nearby neighborhood, but before it did, their dorm lit up like every light was about to blow a fuse and then everything went dark. Was out on the campus mall with my coffee ice cream enjoying the night air, and I see the three of them running outside out of breath. One of the guys looked like a large raccoon had clawed him up badly, down his back, on his neck, along his legs, and arms. They ended up staying with some classmates in my dormhall and tossed the board in the dumpster.

I'm half british and live in the UK. I love horror and ghost stuff along with witches. I never knew about this story until now and it's an incredible story. Your videos are a mix of humour and education and I love it. Keep going with your work despite peoples complaints. Because there are some people who don't know some of these stories and their truths.

Old cemeteries we’re actually designed & created for people and family members to go spend days there, have picnics, outings, etc. before designated parks were really a thing.
I also respect others religions & respect hallowed ground; I walk around all graves & make sure not to step over them, if I have to apologize. I also understand that going in, saying these people names & appreciating their graves is helpful to their spirits & their memories; it’s helpful to be remembered. I’m an empath, a medium, and being in these areas help them come back to life.

Seth telling it to stay there and to not follow them so Sternly, made me proud. Always be sure to tell things to not follow and leave you alone and mean it when done with something like this.
