Very much enjoyed with much appreciation for sharing. Hope you are both doing well as July 14th 2020.. ! Still getting caught up on all my thumbs up. Sorry it took so long.!
Paul, to be honest very few of the islands are overrun with tourists. But of all of them, Antigua probably has the most. But most remain in their all inclusive hotels. And the others arrive by cruise liner by the thousand, but then leave after just a few hours. So when driving around you are correct, you really dont see many tourists
Thank you for this video. Did comp crew in Jun-18 and Day Skipper in Apr-19... both in Antigua out of Jolly Harbour. Considering going back there to sail at Christmas so a wonderful video to watch, thank you
That was a great editing decision to save the boat yard footage for another time so that we in the ether-sphere could just kick back, relax, be at peace with the universe, cocktails in hand............uninterrupted. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Another great video guys. I love the fact you actually get out and explore the islands, bays and dive sites from your cruising home. I don't know how life get better. Safe travels.
Sorry everybody for the slight disruption on posting this video. We put it up yesterday but it only posted at 360p so we pulled it and reposted. It is now available at full 4k resolution .... if you have good enough internet connection. Enjoy. Happy New Year! Oana and Glen
New subscriber have to tell you your first video's needed a lot of help you've came a long way since a year. If anyone is into actual sailing I think you are the best sailing channel out there. Video's and sound is exceptional angle's you film going through the water is fantastic keep up the great video's thanks.
Thanks for the great comment. Yes, we have learned alot about shooting and editing in the last 12 months. Maybe we should pull some of those earlier ones. They dont get many hits anyway. We will continue to improve .... especially now that Oana is in charge!
The First Mate (and Captain!) is very appreciative of this comment. Oana was a little "aware" of her own voice on the camera to start with (non of us like the sound of our own voice, right?) so a comment like this goes along way. Thanks. Oana is Romanian and Bucharest is now home for us.
@@SailCloudyBay Think her voice and narration is very commanding and clear and strong. Does a great job of narrating some of the passage making details , speed, instruments etc. while you are busy riding the bow anchor and getting some of those great shots of this awesome HR54 pounding smoothly and quickly through the seas..that sail to Antigua on previous episode was some of the best!
Hahaha! I knew it! I knew that Oana is Romanian! You know how? I got that very same accent! And..... I was born in Bucharest too in Berceni pe bulevardul Metalurgiei. Dumnezeu sa va binecuvinteze si sa va ocroteasca wherever you go! Salutari!!!
Not sure if I am not too late but: Happy New Year to you Glen and Oana!! Wishing you a lot of blue water, great sails and less private beaches 😂👍👍 After the holidays with non sailing family it is great to catch up with you again on your sail around Antigua .... nice contrast to the gloomy weather here, thanks! 😏 😀🙏
Too bad you didn't run into Delos, her crew and family. I was straining my eyes looking for her in the anchorages. Lovely sailing in and around Antigua. Beautiful job filming and narrating too.
The yacht with the helicopter I believe is a support boat for the main yacht. They usually are ahead of the main yacht where they secure an anchor, deploy the toys etc prior to owners arrival. Luxury at its finest
Happy New Year. This cruising content is nice but we all know the point of all the cruising/sailing is to wear things out so you can do maintenance. Looking forward to the Antigua hull work video. I think Glen enjoys boat work as much as sailing :-)
@@SailCloudyBay I'll keep hoping for more, because your videos have brought me much joy. And I mean everything about them, including the both of you, not just the beautiful destinations and fantastic sailing. I am sure it takes considerable effort and time, and I cannot thank you two enough for creating and posting the videos you have on YT today. I have watched nearly all of them more than once, and that cannot be said for any other YT creator (or creators). Thanks for the reply!
Hello, I'm really enjoying your videos of your travels. Could you please tell me the make and model of drone you use to take your aerial footage please, so I can research the model in view to purchasing my own. Many thanks and safe travel to you both. Dave.
We have filmed catching fish in previous videos. But its not to everyones taste to see. In these leeward islands we have to be careful with reef fish from the top of the food chain. Many are toxic. Also, the Sargasso weed runs down the line and fowls the lure about every 5 minutes! But now that we are inter-island sailing again and have the fridges working correctly we will be starting to get that hook in again. There is nothing quite like a good Mahi Mahi on the BBQ!
It was indeed pretty quiet. We expected this to be the busy time, but no. Yes, the Italian in Jolly Harbour was indeed very good. Tried it only once though.
Tell her to gimme the camera and I'll fix that for you! There are plenty of shots of Oana in our other videos. Just recently Oana has been doing most of the filming. We'll ahve to try to get that balanced.
Following an event where another yachts dragged its anchor and collided with us in New England, we had to strip that bow section of the teak gunwale to repair it. Unfortunately the product we used to "varnish" the gunwales is not easy to repair (Ceolan) so in Antigua we stripped the entire gunwale. Then we had a choice to revarnish or leave natural teak as it had been when we purchased the boat. The Antigua weather (often raining) meant that realisitically it was going to take a long time to get the necessary 8-10 coats of varnish on. And, in this climate of intense UV, any varnish on the boat would need non stop attention, likely needing re-coating 2-3 times a year to keep it looking Bristol. So right now it is natural teak and gradually going to that silver colour. Soon it will all be the same colour all over. Each day we look at it, we miss that varnished look. But we have to be practical, otherwise we will be doing more maintenance than cruising.
@@SailCloudyBay Thank you. Though it would have been some sort of slight damage as it's odd that hr piece looked different. Thank you and great editing. BTW Antigua looks amazing.!!!!
Best quote of 2018 goes to...Glen on Cloudy Bay..."Well, screw you Jumby Bay. I'm gonna take my best shirt off and I'm gonna put my old painting shorts on, remove my underpants and...come back tonight." I hope I got that right. Congrats on winning best quote.
We are using a GoPro6 with lots of stick-on fluffies around the microphones to stop wind noise. Occasionally we put it on gimbal, but the software stabilization within the camera itself is pretty good in the GP6.
Quit funny with your car hire experience 3 flat tyres now, you could try sailing much easer than changing tyre with out a jack . Good video , happy times for 2019.
Very nice. One of the best sailing videos I've seen...
Wow, thank you!
Great Video
SCB is becoming one of my main sailing channels. Great long episodes. Lots of sailing. Great boat.

Nice to see an island that is not over run by tourists and cruise ships.

Thanks .... yes its a pretty good adventure if you can stand the down sides.
Really love these colonial style, colourful small houses and bars. Looks like heaven. Wish I can sail this area one day. Cheers guys nice video

Glad you enjoyed it Chuck
Fantastic vid ya'll.
Thanks :)
The First Mate is delightful and I love listening to her speak. I am guessing she is from Norway. This was a very enjoyable episode to watch.

So peaceful and relaxing. Thanks for sharing. Cheers for a great 2019 from Ron and Susie in Kansas City
Glad you enjoyed it guys. We love sharing with people like yourselves. Happy New Year to you both
Happy New Year to you two. I hope you had a great NYE.
Yes thanks Brad. We had a fun time at a beach bar called Salt Plage on St.Kitts. A couple of videos time!
Too bad you didn't run into Delos, her crew and family. I was straining my eyes looking for her in the anchorages. Lovely sailing in and around Antigua. Beautiful job filming and narrating too.
We looked for Delos on Falmouth and English Harbours where they were supposed to be - but couldn’t see them.
Quite nice sailing and guiding. Happy New year to you and your boat.🎆🌟

Very enjoyable video, just curious as to why you fly the Blue Ensign of Gibraltar ???
My understanding, from the gib authorities is that this is the official Gib ensign.

Yup. High resolution now. Cheers CB

saw you on pigeon beach:)
Are you working on the teak tow-rail.? Front starboard side looks different..

What kind of drone are you using
Its a DJI Mavic Pro. An absolutely brilliant piece of engineering.
Nice videos but you got to cut that wind
Joel Delamirande we’ve got that sorted in the more recent ones.

Hmmm, did I say that? :)
What is going on with you guys and flat tires?!
clearly we are meant for a marine life without tires!
Hi, what video cameras are you using? Thanks.
We are using a GoPro6 with lots of stick-on fluffies around the microphones to stop wind noise. Occasionally we put it on gimbal, but the software stabilization within the camera itself is pretty good in the GP6.
You should be in the video also.
I agree, we need to get Oana in the video more! Tell her to give me the camera occasionally!

Ha ha .... good suggestion. Its a sign that we should stick to non-land travel :)
