    Please note: This episode is from our 2019 Caribbean season, catching up from where we left off editing that year.
    We apologise for the quality. Editing this past footage made us realise how our filming has improved over the last 2 years!
    There will be several more to come over the next few weeks, as we steadily cruise west from the Leewards to the Greater Antilles.
    Remember life before Covid? Wasn’t it wonderful!

    • @SailCloudyBay
      @SailCloudyBay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, spread the word .... the more people on our channel the merrier. I think it may have something to do with our stop-start nature of posting them. No, no one mentioned red roofs. Its funny how trends are catching. For instance all the roofs in Bermuda were white.

    Hi Oana & Glen,
    This is one of my favorite islands of the Caribbean, and there didn't appear to be much damage from the Hurrican Dorian thankfully. Noticed quite a few "sky cranes", assuming that they're for new construction. I covered the island using rental motor cycles and did the same tour as you both did and remember stopping into an excellent French bakery that we discovered from the delicious bakery smells in the air, north of the airport somewhere if I recall correctly. You brought back fond memories of the island, thanks for another great video....

    • @SailCloudyBay
      @SailCloudyBay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter, yes, that right about where that bakery was. Always a pleasure to visit the boulangerie's when arriving to French islands! I dont think St.Barts was too badly hit by the hurricanes. But St.Martin (next video), got it really bad.

    Another crazy approach in the Caribbean is Saba. We flew in and it looked like the cliff wall was just off the right wing. Plus if they overshoot the runway it's a big, big drop into the sea.

    • @SailCloudyBay

      You're right there! Our Saba video will be out in 2 weeks time. A VERY interesting island.

      @M-Swede 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SailCloudyBay I'll be interested to see it. We spent a week SCUBA diving off Saba. Mostly drift dives that you need to drop straight to the coral head (mini mountain) or risk having to be picked up on the surface a ways away.

    Glenn, when you anchor the boat in a bay and go dinghy exploring, I assume you lock up Cloudy Bay? Do you worry about the anchor holding, wind shifts etc? Thank you VERY much, I LOVE watching your content and dreaming "One day soon"!

    • @SailCloudyBay
      @SailCloudyBay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good questions Dan. Yes, we always lock the boat without fail and also lift the swim platform for added security. That way, unlike a catamaran, a swimmer or someone in a canoe cannot get aboard.
      With regards the anchor we always have a concern for that. But so far never happened. The key is knowing your ground tackle and snorkeling over the anchor once set. There are devices you can get now that will alert your phone if the boat moves beyond a geofence. Basically a remote anchor watch. But all such systems require a GSM SIM dedicated to the device on the boat.
      Hope that helps.

      The dinghy that you see in this particular video (from our 2019 season) was our old Avon 315. We only bought our Highfield Classic 340 at the end of 2019. THe Highfield starts appearing in our videos from S19 Ep20, when we purchased and fitted it to the davits.

    I have a question about the Gibraltar national flag. Why is it in Blue Ensign or Red Ensign?
    thanks for answering

    • @SailCloudyBay
      @SailCloudyBay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure. All the ensigns on sale in Gibraltar were blue. Some UK territories have blue, some red. Gib must be blue.

    • @Lexpol
      @Lexpol 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the blue is the official gov flag. Pleasure yachts should carry a red ensign, at least thats what I was told.

    • @SailCloudyBay
      @SailCloudyBay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plenty of pleasure yachts with blue ensigns. Plus I'm a member of an affiliated Royal Yacht Club, so allowed to fly blue.
