I never understood the hype around this musical. Until I actually watched it and... I understood. This show is amazing.
Same here! I watched it once it came out on Disney+, and it went "Oh yeah, it is a nice enough show I guess, some decent songs in it, wait, why am I crying???"
Yeah i listened to the soundtrack for about 3 years almost every other day before it came out on Disney+ and I was so happy to see more people discover it and genuinely enjoy it!
Same. I remember in 5th grade my friends were always talking about it and I just never saw the appeal. I listened to the first song and didn’t understand what was so good about it, then in 8th grade I finally decided to watch it. I watched half of it and was kinda bored then had to go do something else. I eventually rewatched it and was amazed at how good it was.
I am so mad at myself. I heard about it in middle school, I think the year it began, and thought nothing of it, assuming it would sound like every other Broadway show. Now, I'd have to sell every vital organ for a ticket.
My cousin refuses to even give the musical a chance because it relates to history and therefore must be boring….
He DID actually publish the story of his affair with Maria Reynolds…. He thought it better for his image for the public to KNOW that he had been sex-torted than to SUSPECT him of embezzling the government. Eliza was collateral damage
Yeah, he was kinda caught between a rock and a hard place that was partly of his own making due to the affair. He had political enemies that wanted to destroy him, and he couldn't let them take control of the narrative, so he had to strike first. Sure, it was a bad choice, but he didn't HAVE any good choices. It was either expose his own infidelity and subject his family to public humiliation, or let them take him in for embezzling and treason which would have humiliated his family anyway, *plus* would leave them without any income from Hamilton either spending his life in prison or being hanged as a traitor. I mean, the best choice would have been to keep it in his pants and not have an affair, but after that ship had sailed, he felt he had no other choice.

@@ms_scribbles actually, he did have a 3rd choice...say nothing. He proved that he never stole a penny...everything else was his own affair (pun intended). I heard there was a lost song where either Eliza or Angelica told him that he could have ignored it like Jefferson did about all the rumors about HIS mistress, Sally Hemmings, especially that she was his enslaved black sister-in-law (Jefferson's wife's father had several children by HIS slave, Sally's mother).
Not only Eliza, but Maria Reynolds had a daughter, and since the baby was born after the affair, there was speculation that she was Hamilton's bastard...he of all people should have known how detrimental that was at the time.

Fun facts:
~Eliza’s actress, Phillipa Soo, was actually beatboxing in that scene, it’s one of her hobbies (I’m offended that you didn’t want her beatboxing, she’s a queen!)
~Thayne Jasperson, the actor with the posh accent, who Hamilton was mocking, is still in the show to this day
~The Bullet, played by Ariana DeBose, missed Hamilton twice and was held back by the ensemble all throughout the show until Hamilton is giving the monologue in the duel with Burr, then she’s held back no longer and finally hits him, causing him to die.
~Renee Elise Goldsberry, who played Angelica, was given the material to audition for the role literally the day before. Lin thought she wouldn’t be able to pull it off, but she nailed it!
~The ending duel between Burr and Hamilton was significant to both of their iconic phrases. Hamilton “THREW AWAY HIS SHOT” and aimed at the sky, Burr did not “WAIT FOR IT” and ended up shooting first.
~Eliza’s orphanage still exists in New York, it’s called Graham Windham
That paart of the reaction was confusing and came off a little sexist, why shouldn't Eliza beatbox?
@@nicoletrudell2065 i dont really see it as sexist. im a girl aswell but i personally dont really like beatboxing. at least the way she did it, whether man or women, it makes me cringe a bit but thats a personal opinion. she did great. perhaps he meant it like that?
@@dorbynbeavey6530 I disagree with that because he didn’t say “i don’t like/want beatboxing” or “i don’t like that style”. He said “I don’t want HER beatboxing” which does insinuate a sexist undertone whether it was intended or not.
@@JH-jw7pu Yeah, I have to agree. After rewatching, I picked up on the sexist undertone. Pippa is phenomenally talented at beatboxing, it irks me that his immediate reaction to her doing it was basically ‘I want her to stop.’
(Btw, I’m a big Phillipa stan, so his comment on the beatboxing bugs me even more than it should)
I think he just dislikes beatboxing in general and/or in these types of settings and he found it cringy (the way Pippa did it). I am not saying the comment wasn’t bad but I don’t want to assume that it was sexist right off the bat just because I love Philippa Soo, because I do and I really appreciate her. I am not discrediting your opinions or feelings but, in my opinion, I just wouldn’t jump to a conclusion right away:)
Jonathan Groff, who played the King, said he had to walk like that because the crown was so heavy.
This was shot live. They did two full productions and spliced them together.
That and I believe he mentioned he took inspiration from the idea of divas like Beyoncé for his walk

The aim is to say 'by divine right' (meaning I'm king because God appointed me specifically to be king) with your walk so you won't have to say it out aloud, because Charles the 1st as good as said it out loud and look at what happened to him.

Leslie Odom Jr. (Burr) Daveed Diggs (Lafayette/Jefferson) and Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica) all won Tony Awards for their performances in Hamilton. Rightfully deserved and powerful voices.
Diggs beat out two of his cast mates. Hamilton was nominated in every Tony category it was eligible for and won all of them with the exception of stage design.
How the heck did it not win stage design??????
@@amandaturner4991 She Loves Me actually won Stage Design that year and honestly, I think it's deserved. If you look up the staging, you can see glimpses of how fantastic it was, very smartly made with a lot of moving parts. Hamilton has impeccable lighting that makes you feel like you're in different places and an incredible base setting for the stage design, but it stays pretty stagnant for the most part (end of the first act excluded), which honestly makes sense given that the stage isn't supposed to be the focus of the story. It stays in a black out for a lot of the scenes. Movement plays a bigger part with the turntable in the middle, but the stage itself is not nearly as prominent as it was in She Loves Me.
@@momoroxy thanks for your response. As I jumped on the Hamilton bandwagon way late, I wasn't aware of what they were up against. A phenomenal show, but I appreciate your sharing your opinion about why they didn't win for set design.
You seem to miss it, so I'll clarify. Hamilton himself wrote and published the Reynolds Pamphlet, not his enemies. He wanted to get ahead of the scandal, I guess. The original madlad, lol.
He also would rather be known as an adulterer than suspected of being an embezzler.

Fun Fact (well not really fun): 1. Eliza is already wearing black when Phillip dies because she had just come from Peggy's funeral.
2. When Eliza gasps at the end, that is Alexander showing her the audience in the theater. That is her reaction to how effective the story was told and how much peole care. She is suprised by all of the people.

I've read interviews with cast and crew that say that they allowed each Eliza to interpret the gasp her own way. Phillipa actually said that she interpreted it differently on different nights, which I just find wild.
Eliza didn't really open the orphanage because of Phillip but because Alexander was an orphan with a rough childhood so in his honor to give orphaned children a better chance in life.
Not sure if you noticed or not, but the people who played Alexander's friends in Act 1 became his enemies in Act 2, reflecting their lyrics in the opening number.
Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Hercules Mulligan/James Madison: "We fought with him" (double meaning, they fought alongside him then ended up fighting against him)
John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton: "I died for him" (both of them died following Hamilton's leadership)
Eliza, Angelica, Peggy/Maria Reynolds: "I loved him". Eliza and Angelica both loved Hamilton, and he ended up having an affair with Maria aka Peggy, in a strange way managing to win the hearts of all three sisters.
I guess for Peggy, it could also be platonic 'cause although they didn't show it in the show, they were good friends, hence the words "Peggy confides in me". Even when Peggy was on her death bed, she asked to see Hamilton one last time.

this was such a pleasant surprise!
a couple of things to clear up for you: 1) most of them were wearing hair mics, except for the ones who were mostly bald like Aaron Burr and George Washington 2) there was implied sexual tension between Angelica and Alexander but they never actually had an affair and were just very close friends who wrote letters back and forth. 3) the dueling advice Alexander gave his son was actually good advice since most duels back then ended without a shot being fired ("most disputes die and no one shoots"). the guy just shot before 10 (he shot at 7, which is why Phillip says that he's sorry for forgetting what his mother taught him since they were always counting in French at the piano) which is against the rules. I really enjoyed your reaction! ❤️
This is one of the places where Lin Manuel Miranda fudges the facts.
In reality, I understand that neither shot first on the 10 count, and finally they both nerved themselves to shoot, but the other guy wasn't trying for a kill shot but the bullet hit an artery.
37:30 that's because Peggy had recently died. Eliza had a tough life, but she really is the hero of the story, raising so many kids on her own, one of which was insane.

The speech Hamilton recites and Washington joins in on when he steps down is the actual farewell speech written mostly by Hamilton with consultation with Washington (because Washington knew Hamilton was much better with expressing sentiments than he was) when Washington left office for the last time. (Since I noticed you were a bit confused by Hamilton saying 45 years. He was writing for Washington.)
Yup. That's the advice you get from your dad in the late 18th century.
Washington not running for President again set the precedent for serving for two term. Hamilton did help write Washington's Farewell Address, and those were some of the actual words used in the song.
Don't know if anybody said this yet but the line "planting seeds in a garden you never get to see" is an actual quote from Alexander Hamilton. It's one of the few quotes Lin integrated into his lyrics. I also feel it's important to mention that in real life Jefferson and Hamilton really did act like children. Jefferson had a bust of Hamilton made just so we could have it in his house because he hated him so much. I don't know why, honestly, nobody can make sense of a person who lets birds eat out of his mouth and thinks there are giant sloths in the forest.

The real Angelica and Alex from what we know were never to any sort of romantic relationship. Alex respected Angelica and would ask her for advice or her opinion in letters due to how intelligent she was. As for Alex cheating we actually don't have much about what Eliza said, she really did erase herself from the narrative and Lin made Burn based on what kind of person she was so a more sad and disappointed tone with a bit of anger was what he went with. The first version of Burn which you can listen to is more angry and passionate but he decided it wasn't what he wanted. Both versions are beautiful tho!
Also you asked about mics, well most actors with hair will hide the mic right at the top of their hairline, you can see a weird little blob at their hairline if you are looking for it and then some have the ones that come right by their mouths, they are all connected to mic packs hidden within their clothes.
Hamilton did publish the letters. He told the public the truth to protect his own reputation because he did not want his enemies to do it. What he did was essentially damage control so he had the power in how the story got out compared to his enemies telling the public. But in doing so of his own will, he harmed his family's reputation.
"Some of these lines are really good" and they all came from Lin's brain, it's insane. Love him and this movie so much!
The thing about the sisters: Lin Manuel Miranda needed someone who could carry the songs that each sing. What landed Renee the role of Angelica Schyler was her ability to sing Satisfied, which is one of the highest wordcount songs for the length, sitting at 121 words in it's fastest section, with a pace of 5 words per second. The only song with a higher wordcount per second section sung by a woman in Broadway is "Not Getting Married Today" (at 6.2 wps).
I'll go ahead and get into the whole thing, though. Guns and Ships is about 6.3 wps at it's fastest point, and if performed at typical Broadway speeds, it would take 4-6 hours to sing the whole thing. :)
The point of Angelica in the musical was that she always chose Eliza's happiness over her own. She wrote letters to Hamilton and there was chemistry, but she was married and never cheated with Hamilton. She gave up Hamilton to Eliza partly because Eliza wanted him and of course her status would not let her and she was duty bound to marry well for her family and she knew Hamilton was seeking reputation and wealth from the marriage. She loved Hamilton but she never cheated with him behind Eliza's back. When Hamilton did cheat, she stuck with her sister.
If you're wondering Eliza was pregnant again when Philip died, she had another boy (her 8th child overall I think but am not sure) and they also named him Philip after his brother, though a lot of people called him 'Little Phil'. I still say it was a bad idea because then they risked their new son growing up in his older brothers shadow and he'd never be able to compete with the brother who'd died avenging an insult to their father (the thing is, Philip by birth is a gentleman, which means if he challenges another man or another man challenges him and the argument can't be resolved peacefully they have to go through, though at that time only a handful of people were ever actually killed in duels). Turns out that naming a child after a dead sibling was something that was just done back then, right up to last century (my maternal grandmother's family did that a few times), which I guess we can see when we read the book of 'Pollyanna' and find out she was named so because her two older sisters Polly and Anna had both died. Fortunately if Little Phil did feel overshadowed by his dead brother it didn't affect him, he was reported as being a generous man, like the rest of his brothers he studied law (one of his other brothers ended up representing Aaron Burr's second wife when they divorced - this wasn't Theodosia snr/theodosia Jnr's mother, this was a later wife) and I've always seen it as a more subtle form of revenge) and he ended up becoming known as a 'lawyer of the poor'.
Alexander and Eliza's eldest daughter (born after Philip) they named Angelica, and after Philip's death she had a bit of a mental breakdown that only got worse the longer she lived, especially after her fathers death. She started acting like a young child and kept playing piano duets she used to play with her father and also started talking to Philip as if he was there (don't know if she thought he was still alive or thought she was talking to his ghost though). Eliza asked her surviving children in her will to be kind to her.
Wait wait wait she kept playing Piano duets she used to play with Alexander? Oh my God as if it wasn't enough that she thought Phillip was still alive... poor Angelica 🥺😭

And the hype was worth it! No one would’ve known who Lin-Manuel Miranda was had it not been for Hamilton! There’d be no Moana or Encanto without his amazing songwriting skills!

This show is JUST called Hamilton. Not ALEXANDER Hamilton. I'm sure someone has pointed it out already, but Eliza wasn't NECESSARILY a "supporting" character....... I LOVE that about this show.
When they did the casting for Hamilton Linn Manuel Miranda didn't specify any race for the characters and wanted the play to show the diversity of America. I Hamilton a couple of times a few months ago and it is amazing. Love theater is incredible. I'm looking forward to seeing Dear Evan Hansen again next year. The Book of Mormon is also incredible but there are so many good productions out there. I will be seeing The Lion King multiple times this fall and looking forward to it, Jesus Christ Superstar was just here and is one of my favorite shows. If you get the chance go see a show. There are touring companies of the Broadway shows and they are great.
If you're visiting Broadway and get a chance, swing by The New World Theater and catch The Play That Goes Wrong. I've never laughed so hard at a live performance.
I always smile seeing people watch it for the first time. I found out about Hamilton in like 2016 as a child and wouldn't shut up about it ever, definitely became the "Hamilton kid". No one would give it a chance though, until it came out in 2020. I had friends texting me about how much they've rewatched it and downloaded the soundtrack.

Theatre mics are generally hidden in the actor’s hairlines at the forehead. King George’s is in his crown, Burr doesn’t have hair so it’s visible on his ear.

I don't know if anyone mentioned the hidden character in the play called 'The Bullet' the girl who gets her neck snapped after King George's first song. After she gets her neck snapped and dies she becomes somewhat of an omen of death. We have to keep your eye on her because if you notice whomever she comes in direct contact with meets their own death. For example John Laurens during 'The Battle Of Yorktown" when Laurens sings "We'll never be free until we end slavery" he clasps 'The Bullet' characters hand in celebration (she's dressed as a soldier) and a song or two later Laurens is announced dead. Another instance is when Philip Hamilton is looking for George Eacker he approaches two ladies (one of them being the bullet) and she touches his chest and tells him George is just up Broadway seeing a play. Later in the song Philip is shot in the chest and dies in the duel.
Also during Stay Alive the British shoots a gun towards Alexander who is sitting writing Washington's correspondence and 'The Bullet' character literally acts as the bullet that was shot and carries it over Hamilton's head nearly missing him.
Pretty cool damn character you gotta be paying attention to notice.

The Schuyler Sisters was reworked from its original form and the three actresses improvised a lot of their harmonies. Also a lot the speaking parts of One Last Time come directly from Washington's Farewell Address.
helpless and satisfied (the songs about hamilton's marriage) are actually choreographed so that satisfied reverses everything that had happened in helpless. there's some really cool videos showing the choregraphy in each and how they are the same.
I'm a pretty big musical guy, but I'm not super into rap/hip hop and so I thought Hamilton was kind of overrated when it first came out. Then the Disney+ version came out and it all made sense. The soundtrack on its own is much better than I initially gave it credit for, too. Wait For It is probably my favorite, particularly from a music/lyrics perspective.
YES!! Wait For It and The Room Where it Happens are my FAVORITES!! Then it’s probably Satisfied. I watched a breakdown of Hamilton “bar by bar” by Knox Hill on YT and it was SO INFORMATIVE! He is very knowledgeable about rap and history and the way LMM plays with words is brilliant! Well worth the time!
Ah man was not expecting this to come up on your channel. Absolutely love Hamilton so cool to see you enjoy this. Lin is an absolute genius with his words and direction. When he had the idea for this musical everyone laughed at the idea in the words of Obama “no one is laughing now.”
This was nominated for 16 Tony Awards and won 11, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book of a Musical (all going to Lin-Manuel Miranda), Best Actor (Leslie Odom, Jr. as Burr), Best Supporting Actorm(Daved Diggs (as Lafayette/Jefferson), and Best Supporting Actress (Renee Elise Goldsberry as Angelica). It also won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, The Grammy for Best Original Cast Album (which went to full cast) and many other awards for its original Off-Broadway Production before transfering to Broadway. Lin-Mauel Miranda also won the MacArthur Genius Grant, and the Kennedy Center Honor (shared with director Thomas Kail, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler and musical director/orchestrator Alex Lacamoire). The only award that has eluded Lin-Manuel is an Oscar despite having been nominated for a couple of Best Song contenders...which when he does win one, he'll join the EGOTs...those who have won the 4 top honors in entertainment (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). Only 16 people have won all four awards, with an additional 5 people having all four but awarded one as a special honor.

Ariana DeBose, who played The Bullet in 'Hamilton' recently won the Oscar playing Anita in Steven Spielberg's 'West Side Story'.
If you want to see a truly powerful performance...Christopher Jackson (Washington) singing "One Last Time" in the White House for the soon to be leaving President Barack Obama. Moving stuff. The whole cast went to perform, but that song especially stands out.
So actually at 34:54 he did publish them. The Reynolds’s Pamphlet was written by Hamilton, not Burr, Madison, or Jefferson. Hamilton decided to tell everyone what the reason for the money to Mr. Reynolds was for so nobody else accused him of embezzlement. He told everyone his secrets so nobody could blackmail him basically
Hamilton live is surreal! Definitely recommend seeing it if you ever get the chance. I saw it twice in Los Angeles and both times I got chills throughout the whole show.
I saw it last week in Melbourne, it was great but the actress playing Eliza wasn’t up to the role, I’ve never appreciated Philippa Soo more than when I was watching someone else play Eliza

This was an instant favorite, it opened the door to musicals for me. You've definitely gotta check out In The Heights the movie, its another Lin Manuel Miranda masterpiece

Also the Schuyler sisters were all real sisters and in real life all white. Which makes sense for back them. In real life there were 15 Schuyler children. Another thing that made this musical unique and great was the casting of people of color.

A good part of the monologue from the end of One Last Time is from Washington’s final address before he steps town and the system of 2 term presidents solidified.
So much of this musical has real historical events of America like the battle of Yorktown, The Reynolds Pamphlet, and such. My fav bit is the foreshadowing in the intro of duel casting for Lafayette and Mulligan/ Jefferson Maddison saying they fought with him and then Laurens/Phillip saying he died for him.

“The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” is hilarious! The company who wrote it, Team Starkid are successful in writing musicals parodying current culture and you can find all their shows on TH-cam. If you want to see more of Lin’s work, I would also recommend that you look up In the Heights and Tick, Tick… Boom! (the later which he directed is based on the life of Jonathan Larson).

You might have heard of A Very Potter Musical. It was Starkid's first production, and went viral when it came out in 2009. It's what made Darren Criss (Glee, The Assassination of Gianni Versace) famous before he got into TV.
There's also a sequel to The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals called Black Friday, both horror comedies. Nearly everything else is a parody, including two other Harry Potter musicals, a Batman musical, a Star Wars musical, and an INCREDIBLE Aladdin parody that most fans think is their best show (me included).
Best part is, they're all free to watch in their entirety on TH-cam! No issues with copyright claims if you react to them without cuts.
The cast is amazing, the creators are genius, and the shows are genuinely well-written and hysterical. They're a fantastic blend of raunchy comedy and heart, and I literally cannot recommend them enough. #starkid
Burr and Jefferson were in the same party for the election of 1800. The plan was to make Jefferson president and have someone in the same party as vice president. So when the election was tied, the party expected Burr to stand down and concede victory. He did not. Burr had a chance to become president and was not gonna throw away his shot. Hamilton's party hated Jefferson and his party, but eventually, Hamilton convinced his party to support Jefferson because Burr was the bigger threat to the ideals behind the young country's government. This incident and others are why the director of my history program in undergrad consistently referred to Burr as evil - a threat to democracy and republicanism.
And it highlights the part of the show that bothers me most. Madison should have explained the election rules for VP to literally any other character and it would have made more sense than explaining it to the sitting Vice President.
I never watched this musical but I have seen the musical "1776" about how Adam's, Jefferson and Franklin wrote and convinced congress to sign the declaration of independence, I highly recommend it.
A friend asked me if I had watched Hamilton, she was so excited assuming that I probably did that I lied and said _of course_ 😂 I immediately went to watch it after the convo and I loved it so much. I understood the excitement

The Schuyler sisters were real sisters in history. The play obviously takes liberties with a lot of things, including the race of these historical figures. Most (if not all) of these people were actually white. I believe Lin Manuel Miranda's logic for doing this was to tell the story of America with actors that represent what America looks like now.
Always enjoy watching reactions to this play. It seemed like you missed a key detail given your responses. When they confronted Hamilton about the money, Jefferson was accusing him of embezzling or bribery ("engaged in speculation"), and after Hamilton proved and confessed that his actual crime was adultery (which, I believe was not criminal at the time), he worried that the story would get out. In order to protect his legacy from implications of impropriety, he published the Reynolds Pamphlet himself so that he could tell his story and explain himself. He told the world before he told his wife.
With Philip's duel, Hamilton was still among many who believed in the gentleman's duel. After Philip already committed to the duel, it would have been dishonorable to back out. His advice to Philip was to show up for the duel, but hold his shot or shoot at the sky -- this was a gesture that kept his honor but didn't kill his opponent. However, Eacker fired back at him. The play has Eacker also firing on the count of 7, not 10, but the historical account shows the opposite: Eacker wanted to fire second, and he waited a long moment while Philip held his shot, but finally lifted his gun and fired. Also noteworthy, he was in a duel the previous day where four shots were fired and neither Eacker or his opponent died. Hamilton, Philip, and Eacker all had good reason to believe that the affair might have ended with blood, but non-fatally. Sadly, it didn't turn out that way.

So, what I believe the poster’s pose might be, is that it’s a mix from the two main songs of both characters, Hamilton and Burr.
Since Hamilton ends My Shot with his legs closed and his hand up.
Burr ends The room where it happens (which is one of his main songs) with his hand down, but his legs open.
And I believe it’s Burr standing over Hamilton’s grave, since it was him who shot him.
It’s amazing how much detail they have put inside Hamilton, for example, the bullet.
I think, if I remember correctly, the bullet goes twice around Hamilton without killing him.

I tried showing my niece Hamilton, she was bored out of her mind. She's already 20, so I doubt she'll grow to like musicals any time soon. I really do think because she was bored she didn't bother to pay attention to the lyrics, which are a big part of what makes Hamilton great.

The cast is diverse. They were actual sisters it's just the casting. That's why George Washington is played by a black man and so on and so on. I'm pretty sure everyone they are playing is white.

Alexander was very good friends with John and Angelica Church. John was 90% of Hamilton's restraint, 95% if it involved a duel.
The Church's also broke Lafayette out of a prison in Austria during the French revolution. He was swiftly recaptured, but they did it.

While my two favorite songs are helpless and satisfied, aaron burr’s songs are my favorite. I feel narratively, his arc was the best.
Anyone can identify with Burr just waiting for their shot and doing everything right but having to face someone beat them every step of the way. Burr was Hamilton’s confidante and mentor and Hamilton just stabbed him in the back. I would be pissed too.
I also enjoyed the internal struggle he had and the parallels between him and Hamilton. I am glad he lived to be good for his daughter. He is flawed but at least he tried.
Show wise, it was interesting seeing his remorse after shooting Hamilton. He was angry but hated that he won unfairly and that it was a confusing moment. Leslie Odom depicted these emotions so subtlety and well.

I ddn't think I was going to like it either. Hip-hop is not my favorite type of music, but those lyrics are PACKED with so much history, I just fell for it, hook, line and sinker, and when I saw it on tour? That was pure energy!
Fun historical fact: Burr once tried to invade Mexico. Possibly. His true intentions were kind of unclear, but it was a big thing. Also, Burr's wife (the one after Theodosia) divorced him with one of Hamilton's sons as her divorce lawyer and (correct me if I'm wrong) their divorce was finalized on the day Burr died. Oh, the irony. He was kind of a garbage person in history. But the musical really makes you feel for him, and it's important to remember that he was, in fact, a person, even if he was a trashy one.
About the whole it being his advice thing. No matter what Phillip would've been shot. The other guy shot him before ten ( plus duels were very common and usually ended without shots so he didn't give bad advice)

At 28:17 you are probably referring to the movie/musical ‘Tick,Tick…Boom’ which is about the life of Johnathan Larson. He wrote the musical Rent (which is hugely popular) and sadly died the night before Rent started it’s first off Broadway show. Lin Manuel Miranda, who wrote and started in this show, directed the movie 😊
