*When Thomas Jefferson was a bad person but Daveed Digs did an AMAZING job playing as him* (You can research the bad things Jefferson did or believed in btw if you want-)
I missed my opportunity to see the show with the original cast but managed to score tickets for a few days after Broadway reopened in 2021 and it was absolutely worth the trip.
I saw it in London and though I enjoyed it, honestly if you've seen the Disney film you lean on comparing the actors and really wish it was them live in front of you.
I love everytime someone new gets into Hamilton. But I also hate it because it sends me straight into a 2-week re-obsession with the entire soundtrack 😅😂
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the human embodiment of the bullet is played by Ariana DeBose. She just received her first Oscar nomination for West Side Story, which was also incredible!
she’s supposed to represent death throughout the whole musical right? the first to die. and when she doesn’t represent a bullet, shes always one of the last ppl with characters that dies
In the scene of Hamilton's wife burning their letters is so powerful, because it's a loss of irreplaceable historical documents. For example, John Adams wrote constantly to his wife and through those letters we, hundreds of years later, know his mind, his intentions, and his opinions. Hamilton's letters could've told us so much of what he thought and the behind-the-scenes of all the things he touched or created in the beginning of the US government's founding. I don't blame her though, it was all Hamilton's fault some of his legacy was lost.
I find it powerful because it's a loss of irreplaceable personal possessions. She destroys letters she once loved. Letters with happy memories attached to them that she may never have recollected again, and perhaps regretted doing this once she forgave him. She lost the ability to ever read them again.
The details of the finale are another punch to the heart. Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, and Eliza and Angelica are the only ones not wearing all white to emphasize that they are the ones who lived, who died, and who told the story.
@@Ravi-pr3lf Yeah, but it was just mainly Eliza, Hamilton, and Burr who were the main sort of focus of that part. Though she helped Eliza it was mainly Eliza who told his story and got it out there.
@@jeidamartin5496 i agree, it was mainly Eliza but I’m just pointing out the little details. These little details are what makes Hamilton so good to watch. There are a lot of new things you notice no matter how many times you watch it.
for clarification purposes, in theater actors often assume multiple roles if the story allows it. i think it’s mostly done to lower production costs but correct me if i’m wrong. so here anthony ramos plays hamilton’s son after his character john laurens dies in the first part. and jasmine cephas jones plays peggy (sadly she’s only a minor part) and then a completely new character after the intermission and is now the woman hamilton cheats with, that’s why her last name is reynolds not schuyler. hope that helps for anyone who’s confused. (edit: typos)
Yes, also Daveed Diggs played Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, while Okieriete Onaodowan played Hercules Mulligan in the first act and James Madison in the second act. I think that Fabrizio might have missed that, because he missed their names in the first act.
Rather than just lowering costs, it actually allows you to pay actors more. But re-casting prominent roles within the same play/musical is not that common. Mostly just bit parts like Seabry/Charles Lee/Reynolds where you might actually miss it. This re-cast was more pronounced, I believe because the roles are related in a way. Lafayette, the French compatriot, and then Jefferson, known Francophile. Laurens, young idealist abolitionist, and also Philipp, brighteyed and too eager to prove himself. Peggy, a loving sister-in-law, and Maria, the affair that started the fall. And Hercules/Madison is actually funny in how opposed their personalities and musical style were
@@AllTheArtsy I think they recasted Lafayette and Mulligan cuz in the beginning they both say "we fought with him." In act one they fought with him in the war, and in act two they fought against him. They recast laurens cuz in the begging he says "I died for him." Lauren died in the war and Phillip died protecting his dad's honour, so I do think that the recasts are connected.
The line is "SOUTHERN MOTHER FUCKING DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICANS" and it hits so hard live. They couldn't put it on Disney with the two f bombs that are in the OG show so Lin settled for the few other less spicy words and left that as a bit of an Easter egg for those who've listened to the album or seen it live!!

always love seeing peoples’ first reactions to king george when they realize that it is in fact his show lmao. he really does steal the show w/ this performance. edit: it’s been a pleasure seeing you enjoy it so much, it’s been years since i’ve seen and listened to hamilton so this certainly brought back my love for the music
In the last song if you watch again notice when Eliza mentions slavery Washington looks down and ashamed....because he was a lifelong slaveowner. It's definitely something you can watch over and over again.
In the first interaction between Burr and Hamilton. Hamilton asks - "Are you Aaron Burr? sir", to which Burr replies "That depends, who's asking?". That's a wonderful introduction to the the bluntness of Hamilton vs Burr, who always molded who he was depending on the situation and who he was talking with.
Lin-Manuel Miranda described this as “America of the past told by the America of today.” He believed that Alexander Hamilton embodied the hip hop spirit. A kid that came from nothing, fought for everything and got where he did based on the power of his words/writing. So glad you found Hamilton. If you’ve never seen the Disney movie Moana, that soundtrack was also written by Lin. And, as others have mentioned, In the Heights. Also, I started following your Taylor Swift journey awhile back. I am going to echo another commenter and suggest you go down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. They basically brought Acappella into the 21st century. They do rap, edm, classics, rock, r and b…all with just their voices. They’re known for their Christmas music, but they’re so much more. They are the only Acapella group to win a Grammy (or, in their case, THREE).
And if you want more Lin-Manuel, he also wrote the music for Disney’s Encanto (and is nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards tonight for “Dos Orugitas”), and he had his directorial debut last year with Netflix’s Tick, Tick, BOOM! (based on the stage show written by the creator of “Rent,” Jonathan Larson, for which Andrew Garfield is up for Best Actor at the Oscars).
Absolutely agree about going down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. Pick a song (they have 12 years' worth of songs to choose between) and prepare to be amazed.
In their love song in act one, "That Would Be Enough", Hamilton doesn't yet know that Eliza is pregnant. She tells him then and there. That's why he says "How long have you known? Eliza you should have told me." She wrote to Washington asking him to send Hamilton home. "I wrote to the general a month ago. I begged him to send you home." That's why Washington was so reluctant to give Hamilton command of a battalion. He didn't want him to be killed before he even knew he was going to have a son. Hamilton feels guilty about being poor and not providing the same life that Eliza is used to from her growing up in a wealthy family. He wants command of a battalion so he can make money to provide for her. H: "Would you relish being a poor man's wife, unable to provide for your life?" E: "I relish being your wife." Eliza just wants him safe. She doesn't care about how much money they have so long as he stays alive. "I knew you'd fight until the war was won. But you deserve a chance to meet your son." "We don't need a legacy. We don't need money." "So long as you come home at the end of the day, that would be enough." It's my favourite song in the entire musical because it sums up both Hamilton and Eliza's relationship and Hamilton's ultimate downfall. He is so consumed by his legacy and his reputation. Eliza just wants him. She just wants his love and their family. "That would be enough" for her. It's not enough for Hamilton. He's never satisfied. Just like Angelica said he never would be.
They actually do all of the choreography backwards during the “rewind” in an astonishing bit of precision dance and movement with two opposite rotating parts of the stage moving all the while.
When Eliza gasps at the end, it's because she broke the fourth wall and saw the audience. She just realized that her story, the Hamilton legacy, is being told and lives on. Who lives who dies who tells your story. it's deep. you hear "that would be enough" many times through out the play from different perspective. At the end, Eliza fought to maintain their legacy, the last song changed that motif to "when my time is up, have i done enough?" Well she has, the story is till being told. that's why she gasped.
@@blondedancer987 Lin never confirmed anything but he did say something about how he believes that Eliza is “seeing through time” in that moment. Also, the theory is strengthened by the belief that when Lin comes on stage behind Eliza, he is appearing as Lin himself rather than Hamilton (he’s wearing black while the other ghosts wear white). So it’s actually Lin ushering her to the front of the stage himself, as the play’s creator, to show Eliza that she DID do enough to have their story told. Of course, this theory only really works if Lin is playing Hamilton lmao so I guess in that case, yes, all other Eliza’s can choose what they believe the gasp to represent.
@@remaininganon Actually Lin says that he never breaks character. It is Eliza and Hamiliton who have meet on the other side, yes she sees they've told their story.
During Helpless we’re seeing and hearing Eliza’s version of when they first meet at the Winter’s Ball! When Angelica starts to sing Satisfied during her toast at Alexander and Eliza’s wedding, the scene is played in reverse (the cast is literally rewinding the scene to the beginning of the Winter’s Ball) to view Angelica’s version of the same night! She met Alexander first and had feelings for him than Eliza coming up to her and tells her “this one’s mine” so Angelica has to reflect on her responsibilities as the oldest sibling and has to marry will which is not Alexander, but Eliza can so she sets them up, they write to each other than get married but Angelica knows Alexander will never be satisfied in marriage!
@@kuivia No. At 22:08 you can see Alexander's choreography to push the guy away, have a conversation and kiss Angelica's hand that is revisited again in Satisfied at 25:35 I mean for historical purposes, this is all bunk anyway. Angelica was already married when they met and they were just flirty in letters with no real substance to the rumors they were having any major affair - emotional or otherwise - behind Eliza's back. Bear in mind, marriages weren't exclusively about finding love like they are nowadays. Love was one of many factors, so Angelica having deep meaningful intellectual correspondence with her sister's husband wasn't any sort of threat or unusual circumstance for either Angelica's husband or Eliza. You had meaningful companionship with lots of people, but you only married and bedded your spouse, and to go outside that arrangement was arguably an even bigger moral ill than it is today.
@@ErdTirdMans In the song Helpless Eliza sings "then you walked in and my heart went boom" shortly followed by "i grab my sister and whisper this one's mine" that's before angelica talked to Hamilton
@@kuivia No, that's after Angelica Talked to Hamilton. Keep in mind that a large part of Helpless is a trip back in time, it's the same story we've just seen, from the beginning of A Winter's Ball to the toast at the beginning of Helpless, but seen from Angelica's perspective. Angelica originally talked to Hamilton in the background of the song "A Winter's Ball", which plays right before Helpless. We don't see him actually opening his mouth to talk, but watch from 22:06 to 22:22 and pay close attention at what Hamilton is doing in the background while Burr sings his part: he walks to Angelica, stopping Lafayette in his tracks, kisses her hand, walks around her and then, finger raised, goes poking Burr in the shoulder and Laurens joins them ("Is it a question of if, Burr, or which one?"). They dance away and Helpless begins. It is during Helpless, as you correctly identified, that Eliza tells Angelica she wants Hamilton (23:03) During Satisfied, we rewind to that first scene. We don't really see it in this video because of the cuts but go at 25:35 and stop the video a few frames later: Hamilton just stopped Lafayette, who is off balance and turns away. At 25:53, Alexander is seen kissing Angelica's hand. At 26:15 he is walking towards Burr with his finger raised and would the video not be cut you'd have seen him join Burr and Laurens. So, Hamilton flirted with Angelica before Eliza even saw him, and as soon as Eliza tells Angelica, she goes across the room to take Hamilton and bring it to Eliza.
If you’re interested in learning about the accuracy of the history and all the subtle details included you might like Knox hills reaction of the soundtrack. It’s SUPER long (3 separate 1.5 hour+ live replays) but amazingly done and he knows sooo much about the history and has a lot of rap insight.
OMG Knox Hill’s reaction to Hamilton was freaking INCREDIBLE!! His knowledge of history is insane, and brought a TON more insight to me, not to mention how he breaks down the raps and lyrics and flow…damn! It was worth the hours of watching! By far my favorite, and he only did the soundtrack! 💛xo
Absolutely! I’ve watched a heap of Hamilton reactions, but Knox Hill’s literally blew me away. Pun intended.. Lol. His incredible knowledge about history in general but also his abundant knowledge of the music, rap & writing. He picked up on everything, stuff that most of us only noticed after multiple viewings. Anyhoo, Thanks for doing this vid, I love watching people react to Hamilton for the first time. So enjoyable!
@@kristabelle7625 Me too girl, he caught EVERYTHING! AND he was able to also offer a TON of other historical insight I'd never heard before! I would never dream of spending that amount of time breaking down a musical, but it FLEW BY it was so informative and entertaining! (And GHOST! OMG! LOL)
I’ll never get the image of him running over to ghost and putting the headphones on him for Say No to This!!! 🤣 Such a great reaction! Loved his historical knowledge and rap breakdown!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this! You did misunderstand a few things, like how Eliza isn't the youngest sister (that would be Peggy). Angelica's first song was her perspective of the same moments that played in the previous song introducing Eliza. And the names of Hercules Mulligan, Lafayette, and John Laurens were definitely said early on. And then the role switch in Act 2 when those actors played different people entirely (Madison, Jefferson, Phillip). Same for Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds. And then the Reynolds Pamphlet part, Alexander exposed himself, so I wouldn't really call that getting caught :P
I'm only replying this bc I feel like you didn't explain this part well enough- no offense to you, ofc❤ Angelicas first song "Satisfied", started with her giving a toast to them. Obviously- when it says "Rewind..", that's rewinding to that past. That scene where Alex was hitting on Angelica was in the past, during the winters ball- if you look back at the winters ball, after Hamilton says "that's true" you can watch him, and you'll see that exact scene, but quicker and without their talking. Also wanted to clarify, I'm not explaining this to you, cause I know you alr know this- 😭
Every artist has their masterpiece. As super genius as Lin-Manuel Miranda is, and he already has a fantastic body of work, he'll never top Hamilton. It's his Mona Lisa or his Sistine Chapel. The best piece of musical theatre I've seen in my life!
My man...he didn't have an affair with her sister. That actress (Jasmine Cephas Jones) played two roles. She played Peggy Schuyler (Eliza and Angelica's sister), and she also played Maria Reynolds (the woman he had an affair with). Also, he met Angelica first, and took a liking to her, while Angelica fell in love with him. But she knew she "couldn't" be with him because she felt as the oldest, she had to marry for wealth and status. So she introduced him to Eliza, knowing they would fall in love. They did not have a fling or an affair, but were close. The song "satisfied" that she sings after their wedding is simply her reflecting on the first time they met. If you watch closely, you will notice that the scene taking place during that song, and also "helpless", the previous song that Eliza sings, is actually the same scene played out twice. The first time, we see it from Eliza's perspective, the second time we see it from Angelica's perspective, with her insight added in. Very clever. There's actually a side by side video floating around that I'm sure you could find, if you're interested. Genius. Mind blowing.
When this came out on Disney+ at the beginning of July 2020, I don't think I knew what kind of state my mind was in after three months of lockdown. Hamilton broke me. I was covered in goosebumps from the moment the Disney logo appears with the '10 Duel Commandments' music over it, and I was captivated, enthralled and awed at every moment to finally be seeing the cast from the soundtrack I'd had stuck in my head for four years. But when 'Wait For It' started, I was destroyed. Something overtook me, and I found myself wracked with sobs, almost struggling to breathe through them. This wasn't opening-of-Up tears; it was beyond even end-of-Coco tears. I have never been that emotionally overwhelmed by any piece of art or culture, ever. I don't think I ever will be again. It was like every anxiety, stress, worry, frustration, fear and feeling that had been building up since March inside my head burst out all at the same time. And this happened two more times before the end of the film ('Stay Alive (reprise)' and 'Who Lives, Who Dies...'). Hamilton did something to me that no other film has ever done or may ever do. I watched it three times on that first day. I've watched it once every couple of months since. I still notice new and amazing things. It might be my favourite thing.
It took me a few times watching before I fully understood “Satisfied.” Once I grasped the “rewind” part (which is insane choreography, by the way) this song made more sense. And I can see why Renee Elise Goldsberry won a Tony for this performance. She’s flawless.
"Satisfied" is also the word used to describe the aftermath of a duel. The man who challanged another man to a duel was said to be demanding "satisfaction," and if he won, his demand was "satisfied." But women could never be similarly satisfied.
It's rumored that John Laurens ( played by Anthony Ramos ) had a secret relationship with Alexander, or that they were both in love with each other. Many historians even found love letters sent by them to each other. If you pay attention, you can see that the play was trying to portray that.
Started with my friend forcing me to listen to all the songs, then I watched it illegally on my phone, got Disney plus to see it for real, had to go see it on Broadway in October, and now living vicariously through people watching it for the first time😭
In The play (not in the actual history) Angelica met Hamilton first and they had an immediate connection, but Angelica gave up her opportunity to be with Hamilton because Eliza loved him. But both of them (Angelica and Hamilton) continued to be attracted to each other afterward. It’s significant when Angelica returns from London after the affair is exposed (Hamilton was the one who exposed the affair because he was being accused of mishandling federal funds and he wanted to clear his name by explaining he was actually paying a blackmailer-his lover’s husband) because she draws the line in the sand and definitively chooses her sister over Hamilton. Also, for clarification (as other commenters have said), the woman he had the affair with was not one of the three sisters, they were just played by the same actress.
@@christineharrison7815 which is why reading comprehension is so important. My very first sentence clarifies I’m discussing the play/musical, not actual history
@@christineharrison7815yeah she was already married with at least 1 kid BUT it's also known that whr and Hamilton had 0lydul letters exchanged between the two, leading to people thinking it may have been flirtatious. I personally think it was all in good fun. But LMM played up certain dramatic parts of Hama life in this play just because it added to the story. But I don't think he and Angelica ever has real feelingam. It was all play. But he and Reynolds was very real
One of the saddest things is that the day they recorded the musical Phillipa (Eliza) lost her grandmother who she was extremely close to and in act 2, I believe it was during It's Quiet Uptown, she breaks down and genuinely begins to cry as she leans against Lin, who at the moment was the only thing holding her up. You can even see him turn his face towards her and whisper "Are you okay?" and she shakes her head "no". That's just before they walk offstage.
A fun thing I read (and makes too much sense to not be true) is that the cover art for Hamilton is Alexander standing on top of a star while pointing up. At the end of Room Where it Happens, Burr is in the exact same stance except he is pointing down, and the spotlight on him is the missing point of the star in the cover. This is also the part of the show where Burr truly becomes Alexander’s competitor/enemy, because after that is when he switched parties. They fit like 2 pieces of a puzzle. 1 story can’t be told without telling the other.
Being able to connect to the musical more then school assignments is a vibe, same with other historical/mythology based musicals like six and hadestown It's probably just my autism speaking, but I could never remember anything from school.what I can do is sing the songs from Hamilton from memory and talk in-depth about the real people's motives and changes they went throughout their lives
OMG I have written so many comments but in the part where Eliza I saying “stay alive” when Philip is shot in a duel, she is already wearing black. Peggy also died before Philip. Eliza was coming back from Peggy’s funeral when she ran to Philips hospital do she was wearing black already, so after this she wasn’t very prepared in life. Husband cheated, son died, little sister died, and her husband died. Wow.
I LOVE watching people watch Hamilton for the first time. Their reactions are just *chefs kiss*. I’ve been a die hard fan for years and recently took my Aunty to see it live for the very first time (she’d never listened to any of the music and hadn’t seen it on Disney). It can be confusing and confronting because it is so jam packed but she LOVED it
I love, one last time, it shows how magnificent was Washington biggest lesson to men in America,: you don't owe power for ever, there are more people willing to do your job and to serve. Opportunity for all. Also that LM Miranda decided to use Washington real resignation letter and both actors sing it together. A master piece for history.
Yes, there is a Hamilton soundtrack everywhere you can get soundtracks. All Broadway shows pretty much have soundtracks available for you, but Hamilton has the benefit of only having one moment that isn't on the soundtrack so you can get the full experience of the story even if you can't afford tickets
Which moment? I have watched the movie like 7 times and listened to the soundtrack 100 times and I didn’t realise that somethings missing. Well, that’s actually poor of me XD.
@@simpleshow5571 the part where John Laurens dies after dear theodosia is left out of the soundtrack. Lin did this because he wanted people who only listened to the soundtrack to still be surprised by something if they went to see the show.
@@remaininganon Thank you… I have never noticed it before. The only thing I figured that the single difference is the transition between My shot and the story of tonight but no, you are absolutely right. Thank you
The Schuyler sisters are such ICONS! Ugh I just love all three of them so much! This musical made me do so much background research into Eliza, Angelica and Peggy’s lives and they were all super cool women! Eliza is such a strong and amazing woman!
I personally love the theory among the fanbase that Lin-Manuel Miranda is showing Eliza that he told her story at the end. Hamilton is a story about shedding lights to the human side of every character's stories, including the women of history. It brings the story's message home that everyone's story deserves to be told.
You're right that the whole concept of Hamilton was genius. Lin is a freakin' genius and spent 7 yrs of his life architecting this masterpiece. Glad you enjoyed the show and I was a skeptic like you were initially but the "My shot" & "Satisfied" songs reeled me in. Hands down the best theater show I've seen.
btw, the circle in the middle is always moving clockwise (or opposite during satisfied) to show Hamilton is always thinking and Hamilton usually walks in circles to show hes thinking about many options, and burr walks in straight lines to show he thinks one way and gradually starts moving erratically to show hes stressed. also the balcony is very important, sometimes you can see Eliza on top with Angelica because in that year they met up, or you'll see Eliza or others reading letters. everything in there is an Easter egg.
Once, the cast held a special performance for the real kids at the real orphanage that Eliza founded. It was said to be amazingly moving. The soundtrack is out, as is the Hamilton Mixtape, which were the only way fans could access the show until the movie and Disney picking it up. There are the mini plays they put on on the sidewalk outside the theater, the cut songs from the show, the book about the creation of the show...lots to enjoy. The cast have all moved on, but when Hamilton went to Puerto Rico to raise money after the hurricane, the og cast reunited. Every time I see Hamilton, it just gets better.
Welcome to the Hamilton fan club. It just so succinctly displays everything great about art and storytelling. How music, story, acting, lighting dance can all just move u to pieces
For those having trouble understanding the family dynamics and the affair: Peggy is not part of it, she only had a couple of little parts in the first half of the show. The actress who plays Peggy is double cast (as are several others) as a completely different woman that Hamilton cheats with. The cheating actually reinforces the relationship between Eliza and Angelica, as the older comes to support the middle sister. He didn't destroy their family at all, just his own.
1:09:19 it’s not her sister, it’s Maria Reynolds’s. The other sister is Peggy Schuyler and Peggy is the youngest not Eliza. Lin Manuel Miranda used certain people to play multiple characters.
"I died for him." John Laurens died after the war ended in a skirmish - Philip died in a duel defending his father's honor "We fought with him." Lafayette & Hercules were his allies in the war - Jefferson and Madison were his enemies in the government "I loved him." Angelica pined for him - Eliza married him - Peggy loved him like a brother - Maria had an affair with him Thats the beauty of the opening number, it tells you the character arcs of not only the characters but the actors playing the roles as well. You should check out these videos by Howard Ho, he breaks down basically everything about the songs and their many layers. th-cam.com/play/PLkkocI7Ffe0a4bS57kt4KFBaHsCPyS7Xy.html
I’m so happy you’re finally doing this reaction!! As a huge Hamilton fan and a fan of your channel, im so excited to watch your reaction to the music and story
54:54 dude doesn’t pay attention. That’s not Peggy Schuyler, that’s Maria Reynolds. Some actors have two characters on the show. Anthony Ramos plays John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton. And Jasmine Cephas Jones played Peggy and Maria. You can see it’s a different character because Peggy wears a ponytail and has a yellow dress (childlike, innocent, she’s the youngest of the sisters) whilst Maria has her hair down and has a red dress (significant for her passionate yet sinful affair with Hamilton)
your reaction was amazing! i love how open-minded you are and how invested you were. i remember getting tickets before my birthday when i was a freshman in high school, now i'm reminiscing as a college student. much love!!
Artists playing dual roles: Jasmine Cephas Jones plays Maria Reynolds and Peggy Schuyler Anthony Ramos plays John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton Daveed Diggs: LaFayette and Thomas Jefferson Okieriete Onaodowan played Hercules Mulligan and James Madison
Yeah so like others have said, Maria Reynolds is not Peggy Schuyler. Played by the same actress, Jasmine Cephas Jones, but different characters. Also the youngest Schuyler sister is Peggy. Eliza is the middle and Angelica is the oldest. But in real life Renee (Angelica) is the oldest, Jasmine is the middle and Phillipa (Eliza) is the youngest Editing to add: Yeah Phillipa's scream in Stay Alive (Repise) is so heartbreaking
This is without a doubt the greatest stage presentation that I have ever seen, and I’m a fan of musical theater. Lynn Manuel l knocked it out of the park in every way imaginable: incredible songs and music. Outstanding acting and choreography. This show is brilliant!
I just discovered this video and I must say I love to see your excitement and enthusiasm as you watch it for the first time. It’s a lot to figure out but you did a great job. I probably listened to the soundtrack 200 times before I got to see it on the stage so I could really focus in on the music - the rap,the songs, the musical themes that keep coming back - it’s all genius!! So glad you discovered this masterpiece. So many people say ‘I hate rap but I loved Hamilton’. Others say ‘I hate Broadway but I love Hamilton.’ It appeals to everyone because it’s such a skillful way of combining disparate elements that transcend categories. I ❤️ Hamilton
Lin-Manuel Miranda been doing the genius thing from “Freestyle Love Supreme” to “In the Heights” to “Hamilton” to writing for Disney music to acting and finally also directing his first motion picture. Guy is just aaaahhhhhh🤗❤
The Hamilton original Broadway cast appeared at the White House during the Obama Administration. One song they did was One Last Time, sung by Christopher Jackson as George Washington. This was shortly before President Obama was due to leave office. It really hit differently. You can find it on TH-cam. Actually you can find a lot of stuff on TH-cam. The original cast also did a few numbers during the pandemic. The original song, Alexander Hamilton, Helpless, The Room Where It Happened, can all be found with the original cast singing remotely. Worth a watch. Also look for First Burn, which is the first version of Burn that LMM wrote. It packs a different punch. The version released is sung by various actresses who portrayed Eliza on stage. I also recommend, if you didn't use closed captioning/subtitles, to do so next time you watch. This musical moves so fast that it's easy to miss some stuff. Especially during Guns and Ships. (1st half, right before Yorktown. Lafayette sung it. Fastest rap on Broadway, I believe.) I think I picked up maybe one word out of ten in that song.
Somebody probably mentioned it already, but my favorite thing about this play is that it's not called Alexander Hamilton. Lin Manuel could only make this play because SOMEONE told the story........ so you ask yourself "who is this play really about?" She was Alexander's BIGGEST hype man for 50 years after his death.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but another hip-hop reference I don't see anyone talking about is how "I'm only 19 but my mind is older" is a reference to Mobb Deep!
I think your reaction was the most accurate depiction of how I felt watching it for the first time too. I had no idea how obsessed I would become. And I will say, the more you learn about the how and why and musicality of the show, the more amazing it is and Lin Manuel is.
Seen it first live…..was blown away, and of course missed a lot because live and fast paced and full of info. Got up EARLY day it came out on Disney soooo excited to watch it again! And of course have now seen it tons of times since
1:16:08 Not really, it wasn't about personal loyalty, it was more about how Hamilton favored whoever is best suited for the office, even if they were his enemy. He put aside personal friendships and chose who he thought was best suited for it.
Now that you've seen Hamilton, I highly recommend you watch either In The Heights (another one of Lin Manuel Miranda's musicals) or Tick Tick Boom and/or RENT. Jonathan Larson, who wrote both Tick Tick Boom and Rent (and whom TICK TICK BOOM is about) was Lin Manuel Miranda's inspiration for becoming the writer we know him to be today.
I've watched the full musical four times, plus countless hours of other people's reactions to it, and I learn some new detail every time. It's just brilliant.
I know lol.. and I was an American History teacher, years ago..,but i was so blown away by this movie that when i went back to refresh myself on the different people’s wikpedias i was taken aback a moment seeing portraits of Layfayette.. and remind myself that yes, french are white people lol.. (my Ancestors in one sside are french lol.. im as white as they come..) THATsS how good Dayveed Diggs was lol
As A die-hard HAMILTON and Lin-Manuel fan, it’s giving me so much pleasure to watch you experience the magic and brilliance of the show for the first time. I hope you see it in person one day. It’s incredible! (P.s. love your name. 🙂)
Alexander never had an affair with either of Eliza's sisters. The actress that played Peggy in Act I plays Maria Reynolds, a different character, in Act II (the actors who play Lafayette, Laurens, and Mulligan in Act I also play different characters in Act II (Jefferson, Philip Hamilton, and Monroe, respectively)). And yes, the entire original Broadway cast album is available for download from at least Spotify, and I assume other streaming services for music as well. :)
Also after Burr sings about Alexander dying (“They say Angelica and Eliza were both at his side when he died”), everyone on stage slowly turns their head to look at Burr because “history has it’s eyes on you”.
He married the middle sister, not the youngest. And in reality, Angelica, the oldest one, was already married, actually, when she met Alexander. Lin-Manuel just change that part to make the musical make more sense. I read a book about the Schulyer sisters; that's how I know. Actually, the name Schulyer is Dutch; their father was from Holland, if I remember correctly . . . And Eliza never really buried any letters, either, I don't think. And I think she didn’t find out about her sister until AFTER he had died. She found out about Mireya Reynolds, yes, but not the sister … Plus it was never really clear that they “did” anything … him & the sister I mean … they may have just had a REALLY close friendship, closer than brother-in-laws & sisters 👯♀️ should, maybe 🤔 but it was never clear that they actually slept 🛌 together ever. But with Mireya, he did; it was the nation’s first sex scandal actually . . . 😉
Her name is Maria Reynolds, but 18th century Americans prounouced it "Mariah", that was before the Spanish influence in America came in and they started pronouncing it properly like today. Maria became a church lady after the affair was exposed and James Reynolds left her.
Also the Schulers DID have sons. There was like... 2 or 3, I think. So it wasn't just the 3 sisters. Lin said he forgot about that when writing Satisfyed.
@@AnxietyRat Yes they DID have brothers but I think they all died very young. I think only the 3 sisters lived to adulthood sadly. I think Phillip Hamilton was named for one of her brothers that died. 😉
@@AHufflepuffAndASwiftie Phillip Hamilton was named for Eliza’s father, Senator Phillip Schuyler. He did have several sons, two who died as infants (along with a few daughters who also died very young, and a set of triplets who all died at childbirth) but three that lived to adulthood - John Schuyler (who lived until his thirties), Phillip S. Schuyler (became a Congressman himself and died in 1835), and Rensselaer Schuyler (don’t ask me how to pronounce that one; died seven years before his older sister Eliza, in 1847). LMM took several dramatic liberties with Hamilton, which make it a more compelling show (like his son dying before the election of 1800, the duel with Burr happening after that election rather than in 1804 during Burr’s campaign for NY governor), and the Schuyler sisters having no brothers being another of those liberties. 😊
It's evidently part of the genius of this play that three hours on (and despite tons of foreshadowing) it still manages to make us forget almost completely what we were TOLD UPFRONT AT THE BEGINNING by Aaron Burr, Sir, himself.
Elizabeth Schuyler did live a long time...she died about 6 years before Abraham Lincoln became President...we can also say she died about 4 years before Theodore Roosevelt was born for extra shock xD....living to be 97 years old in plain 18th/19th century is a feature on its own.
Hamilton defiantly benefits from repeat viewings/listening as there are a lot of details that can be missed or overlooked the first time around. Honestly if you get a chance I would recommend watching this video that talks about the use amazing use of motifs in the musical: th-cam.com/video/yWK1B1EiQ7U/w-d-xo.html
I just saw this show this past weekend! There's a beautiful video of this cast singing "One Last Time" to President Obama and everyone in the room was weepy. It's a great video and it's all over TH-cam, :) Everyone's all dressed up, but Lin is wearing jeans, haha. You would love Tick Tick Boom. Garfield is amazing in it.
Whenever I hear that song, I think about Prussia from the manga "Hetalia" and King Frederick II. After all, he and the Prussians did help train the Americans fight against the British and died before Washington became president.
I went to see this musical when it came to St. Louis basically because it was “the thing to do” and I love musicals. I knew nothing about the music or the story but I was hooked from the first note. It comes back to St. Louis beginning tomorrow and I have tickets to see it on the 23rd. I have watched the Disney recording over and over but it doesn’t compare to seeing it live. You HAVE to go and see it. Spend the money. It’s worth every penny and then some.
13:17 Character breakdown cus it is confusing if youre not obsessed: [CONSTANT CHARACTERS] Lin manuel miranda plays hamilton Leslie odom jr plays aaron burr Phillipa sou plays eliza (hamiltons wife) Renee goldsberry plays angelica (elizas sister who is in love with hamilton) Jonathan groff plays king george Christopher jackson plays george washington Ariana debose plays "the bullet", an unnamed character but if you pay attention to her dancing throughout the entire show she does a lot of cool stuff relating to the death that follows hamilton and eventually resembles the bullet that shot hamilton in the end [CHARACTERS WHO CHANGE] Anthony ramos plays john laurens (hamiltons gay lover) in the first act and (hamiltons son) phillip in act two Daveed diggs plays lafeyette (the french soldier) in act one and thomas jefferson in act two Jasmine jones plays peggy (the third schuyler sister) in the first act and mariah reynolds (the woman hamilton cheats with) in act two I cannot spell his name to save my life but the last actor i remember of importance is the same guy plays hercules mulligan (the tailor/spy) in act one and james madison in act two
Eliza isnt the baby and Hamilton didn't have an affair with either of her sisters. An emotional meeting of the minds with Angelica maybe, but not an actual physical affair. The confusion with Peggy is that this show uses a common thing in theatre - multirolling, meaning one actor playing multiple parts in the show. Peggy in the first act is Maria Reynolds in the second act. Lafayette in the first act, Jefferson in the second act. Mulligan in the first act, Madison in the second act. Laurens in the first act, Philip in the second act.
They literally said their names in the song "I'm John Laurens in the place to be..." "J,mapelle Lafayette" "Brah, brah, I am Hercules Mulligan" Herc is SO hype XD so many miss the "rewind" after the wedding
I've seen the show live 4 times, once on Broadway and then here in my hometown. You can't beat the live version. But I still get chills every time I watch the Disney version
I stan Thomas Jefferson from this point on…
If you’re interested there are songs that were cut there’s a playlist on TH-cam with all of them
*When Thomas Jefferson was a bad person but Daveed Digs did an AMAZING job playing as him* (You can research the bad things Jefferson did or believed in btw if you want-)
*Daveed Digg's version of him
Seriously. Daveed killed that. 🔥
Jefferson is modeled after Biggie
I just love that in the end Burr didn’t “wait for it” and Hamilton “thru away his shot”… Just brilliant writing.
ohhh lol thats crazy...was it intended to be that way
@@caligal1090 I’m sure it was! I haven’t seen anything actually confirming it though.
He doesn’t wait for it, but after firing yells, “WAAAAIIIIIT!”
I also like that in My Shot he wonders if death is like a beat without a melody, and when it comes, he’s doing beat poetry and there’s no melody.
Also in the very end, the only performers not in choral white are Burr, Hamilton, and Eliza and Angelica. (Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?)
I’ll never get tired of watching people react to Hamilton
I wish I had the opportunity to see this play live. A work of art.
Same, I get so happy when I see a new reaction video posted lol.
I missed my opportunity to see the show with the original cast but managed to score tickets for a few days after Broadway reopened in 2021 and it was absolutely worth the trip.
It's absolutely insane life.
I saw it in London and though I enjoyed it, honestly if you've seen the Disney film you lean on comparing the actors and really wish it was them live in front of you.
@@xxSydneyFox My cast was even better than the Disney cast so I guess it depends,
I love everytime someone new gets into Hamilton. But I also hate it because it sends me straight into a 2-week re-obsession with the entire soundtrack 😅😂
I swearrr.. like I’ll take a break for months and one reaction will trigger my whole addiction again
No legit. Now I’m like ok I need to enter every lottery when the tour comes
PREAACH
SAAAAMMMMMMEEEEEE
that’s why i’m here lmao
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the human embodiment of the bullet is played by Ariana DeBose. She just received her first Oscar nomination for West Side Story, which was also incredible!
Also in schmigadoon. A random series I just watched.
Update: she just won an Oscar!
she’s supposed to represent death throughout the whole musical right? the first to die. and when she doesn’t represent a bullet, shes always one of the last ppl with characters that dies
@marcèl pretty much, she always is around characters that die. But flirts with Hamilton in terms of death. Until the end where she finally takes him.
Popular opinion: if Lin Manuel Miranda wanted us to hate Jefferson he shouldn't have hired Daveed Diggs
I’ve always thought that. It’s so hard to see Jefferson as a villain because of Daveed. Everything Lin does us intentional
@@Hamiltons_in_the_Heights I can see him as a villain still, just one of those amusing and charming villains.
@@ms_scribbles exactly! I hated him but I don’t like Jefferson in real life so that made it easier.
@Josh Alre Parrocho he didn’t that’s the point, he doesn’t do anything unintentionally
FR. YOU JUST CANT- YOU CHOOSE DAVEED I MEAN-
In the scene of Hamilton's wife burning their letters is so powerful, because it's a loss of irreplaceable historical documents.
It's poetic even, he wrote the pamphlet to clear his name and that caused Eliza to erase some part of his legacy.
Omg I don't now why I didn't see that before and I have seen it a million times.
Angelica also didn’t wear white as she was also one who told the story. When Eliza sang “I rely on Angelica, when she’s alive, we tell your story.”
OMYGOD NOOO
for clarification purposes, in theater actors often assume multiple roles if the story allows it. i think it’s mostly done to lower production costs but correct me if i’m wrong. so here anthony ramos plays hamilton’s son after his character john laurens dies in the first part. and jasmine cephas jones plays peggy (sadly she’s only a minor part) and then a completely new character after the intermission and is now the woman hamilton cheats with, that’s why her last name is reynolds not schuyler. hope that helps for anyone who’s confused.
And Hercules/Madison is actually funny in how opposed their personalities and musical style were
@@AllTheArtsy that’s super interesting, thank u!
@@jizosupremacy4033 Of course the recasts are connected and the lyrics is not "the reason," that's just the storytelling convention LMM was using.
You could be watching/listening to HAMILTON for 6 months
and still be peeling back the layers.
LMM is a "once in a generation" talent.

always love seeing peoples’ first reactions to king george when they realize that it is in fact his show lmao. he really does steal the show w/ this performance. edit: it’s been a pleasure seeing you enjoy it so much, it’s been years since i’ve seen and listened to hamilton so this certainly brought back my love for the music
When you watch the show live they tell you Eliza's orphanage is still running today and then they take donations to support it as you leave

Eliza you should have told me."
She wrote to Washington asking him to send Hamilton home. "I wrote to the general a month ago. I begged him to send you home."
That's why Washington was so reluctant to give Hamilton command of a battalion. He didn't want him to be killed before he even knew he was going to have a son.
Hamilton feels guilty about being poor and not providing the same life that Eliza is used to from her growing up in a wealthy family. He wants command of a battalion so he can make money to provide for her.
H: "Would you relish being a poor man's wife, unable to provide for your life?"
E: "I relish being your wife."
Eliza just wants him safe. She doesn't care about how much money they have so long as he stays alive.
"I knew you'd fight until the war was won. But you deserve a chance to meet your son."
"We don't need a legacy. We don't need money."
"So long as you come home at the end of the day, that would be enough."
It's my favourite song in the entire musical because it sums up both Hamilton and Eliza's relationship and Hamilton's ultimate downfall.
He is so consumed by his legacy and his reputation. Eliza just wants him. She just wants his love and their family. "That would be enough" for her.
It's not enough for Hamilton. He's never satisfied. Just like Angelica said he never would be.
Yes you missed something, everyone chanting "rewind" and them all doing the same choreography from the previous song indicating a flashback
The “Rewind” is between Winter’s Ball/Helpless and Satisfied, in case you were not sure where that was. 💛xo
Plus the lighting change and the stage turntable literally starts spinning backwards.
was that not in the recording
They actually do all of the choreography backwards during the “rewind” in an astonishing bit of precision dance and movement with two opposite rotating parts of the stage moving all the while.
There’s a great video on TH-cam that puts helpless and satisfied side by side! So cool to compare the two.
Lin Manuel Miranda actually never defined what she was seeing when she gasps, and leaves it up to the actresses to decide for themselves.
He never defined what the gasp meant..
The gasp can actually be interpreted a few ways, Lin never confirmed anything. I always see it as Eliza dying and seeing all her loved ones again.
At the beginning of Satisfied, you can hear the guys singing ladies as if it was still Winters Ball
Eliza said "this one's mine" as soon as he stepped into the room which is why Angelica approached him in the first place though?
@@kuivia No. At 22:08 you can see Alexander's choreography to push the guy away, have a conversation and kiss Angelica's hand that is revisited again in Satisfied at 25:35
I mean for historical purposes, this is all bunk anyway.
It is during Helpless, as you correctly identified, that Eliza tells Angelica she wants Hamilton (23:03)
During Satisfied, we rewind to that first scene.

I'm only replying this bc I feel like you didn't explain this part well enough- no offense to you, ofc❤
Angelicas first song "Satisfied", started with her giving a toast to them.
Also wanted to clarify, I'm not explaining this to you, cause I know you alr know this- 😭
yes, a lot of the actors play a different character in act 2. lin wanted to keep the cast small so he could pay them as much as possible
Broadway has a history of actors multi-roling.
I live right outside of Angelica, NY....named for her. It's where her home was built, called the Belvedere. It's now a restaurant.
Every artist has their masterpiece. As super genius as Lin-Manuel Miranda is, and he already has a fantastic body of work, he'll never top Hamilton. It's his Mona Lisa or his Sistine Chapel. The best piece of musical theatre I've seen in my life!
No matter how many times I’ve watched Hamilton, I always discover something new lyrically wise. This is one of my absolute favorite musicals.
In real life, Angelica was married before she met Hamilton. Some artistic license.
😊🌹
Someone said it finallt
It took me a few times watching before I fully understood “Satisfied.” Once I grasped the “rewind” part (which is insane choreography, by the way) this song made more sense. And I can see why Renee Elise Goldsberry won a Tony for this performance. She’s flawless.
"Satisfied" is also the word used to describe the aftermath of a duel. The man who challanged another man to a duel was said to be demanding "satisfaction," and if he won, his demand was "satisfied." But women could never be similarly satisfied.
That unsealed water bottle blemished his first experience through Wait for It and I'm distraught about it.
It's rumored that John Laurens ( played by Anthony Ramos ) had a secret relationship with Alexander, or that they were both in love with each other. Many historians even found love letters sent by them to each other. If you pay attention, you can see that the play was trying to portray that.
Started with my friend forcing me to listen to all the songs, then I watched it illegally on my phone, got Disney plus to see it for real, had to go see it on Broadway in October, and now living vicariously through people watching it for the first time😭
Burn (Eliza's song after she finds about the affair) hits so hard every time. A+ writing but SSS tier execution.
whats SSS
I pay for different streaming services and yet I’m still here watching an hour and a half of Fabrizio loving Jefferson.
You do know Angelica was truthfully married in real life when she met Hamilton……
Typos because my App sucks and won't let me edit. So pls understand what I was trying to say
I've watched this performance at least 30 times, and both time Eliza screams I can't not cry. It's impossible to not cry I swear.
Wait wha? Welp!😢
The craziest thing is that you couldn’t hear it her voice!
where did you find this out? 🥺
Being able to connect to the musical more then school assignments is a vibe, same with other historical/mythology based musicals like six and hadestown
It's probably just my autism speaking, but I could never remember anything from school.what I can do is sing the songs from Hamilton from memory and talk in-depth about the real people's motives and changes they went throughout their lives
My daughter and I saw Hamilton on Broadway last Saturday. It was AMAZING. There is only one original performer, but the new cast is very, very good.
"I died for him." John Laurens died after the war ended in a skirmish - Philip died in a duel defending his father's honor
"We fought with him." Lafayette & Hercules were his allies in the war - Jefferson and Madison were his enemies in the government
"I loved him." Angelica pined for him - Eliza married him - Peggy loved him like a brother - Maria had an affair with him
Thats the beauty of the opening number, it tells you the character arcs of not only the characters but the actors playing the roles as well.
You should check out these videos by Howard Ho, he breaks down basically everything about the songs and their many layers. th-cam.com/play/PLkkocI7Ffe0a4bS57kt4KFBaHsCPyS7Xy.html
“Is it bad I’m only a few minutes in and I’m already sold?” That was my reaction when watching Hamilton for the first time.
I've been going through my reoccurring obsession with Hamilton and i love watching people watch it for the first time
I love watching people see Helpless and Satisfied for the first time and figuring out how they're woven together. 😅
You can see it’s a different character because Peggy wears a ponytail and has a yellow dress (childlike, innocent, she’s the youngest of the sisters) whilst Maria has her hair down and has a red dress (significant for her passionate yet sinful affair with Hamilton)
your reaction was amazing! i love how open-minded you are and how invested you were. i remember getting tickets before my birthday when i was a freshman in high school, now i'm reminiscing as a college student. much love!!
Artists playing dual roles:
Jasmine Cephas Jones plays Maria Reynolds and Peggy Schuyler
Anthony Ramos plays John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton
Daveed Diggs: LaFayette and Thomas Jefferson
Okieriete Onaodowan played Hercules Mulligan and James Madison
Yeah so like others have said, Maria Reynolds is not Peggy Schuyler. Played by the same actress, Jasmine Cephas Jones, but different characters. Also the youngest Schuyler sister is Peggy. Eliza is the middle and Angelica is the oldest. But in real life Renee (Angelica) is the oldest, Jasmine is the middle and Phillipa (Eliza) is the youngest
Editing to add: Yeah Phillipa's scream in Stay Alive (Repise) is so heartbreaking
That hits so hard.
This is the appropriate reaction to the entrance of George Washington. It is SO FUCKING HYPE.
Omfg the amount of reactions I’ve seen that ignore the REWIND REWIND in Satisfied… like come on
It’s crazy!
What I realized if you don't have on subtitles you kinda miss it
Genius. Just - genius. How lucky we are to have him.
your reflection on Satisfied was so relieving, most people just assume he's cheating (that soon)
And of course have now seen it tons of times since
Fabrizio clutching his pearls and grasping not even 5 minutes in… I LIIIIIIVE!
1:16:08 Not really, it wasn't about personal loyalty, it was more about how Hamilton favored whoever is best suited for the office, even if they were his enemy. He put aside personal friendships and chose who he thought was best suited for it.
1:08 you can't say "dodging it like a bullet" in a hamilton reaction bro 😭😭
Now that you've seen Hamilton, I highly recommend you watch either In The Heights (another one of Lin Manuel Miranda's musicals) or Tick Tick Boom and/or RENT. Jonathan Larson, who wrote both Tick Tick Boom and Rent (and whom TICK TICK BOOM is about) was Lin Manuel Miranda's inspiration for becoming the writer we know him to be today.
i just saw hamilton live on wednesday! so happy you've check it out
I've watched the full musical four times, plus countless hours of other people's reactions to it, and I learn some new detail every time. It's just brilliant.
It's so funny how because of this musical I always forget that the founding fathers were not actually POC
Fabrizio reacting to Hamilton; I never needed anything more.
Idk if it was on purpose but love the August reference
@@freedomm Wow 😯!! I didn’t know that! Thanks 😊 for the info!
This album is in Spotify by the way, in case you want to listen to the songs.
I knew all the characters after I first watched this but I've watched Hamilton 3 times because I love it sm
His "no, no, no, no, no" was my exact reaction to hamilton's death scene.
It's evidently part of the genius of this play that three hours on (and despite tons of foreshadowing) it still manages to make us forget almost completely what we were TOLD UPFRONT AT THE BEGINNING by Aaron Burr, Sir, himself.
@@StoryMingor actually knowing your history….lol
@@christineharrison7815
Whether you know your history or not, the play itself tells you, so you should at least know this. 🤷🏻♀️
Yes! I agree about Tick Tick Boom!!
13:17 Character breakdown cus it is confusing if youre not obsessed:
[CONSTANT CHARACTERS]
Lin manuel miranda plays hamilton
Leslie odom jr plays aaron burr
Phillipa sou plays eliza (hamiltons wife)
Renee goldsberry plays angelica (elizas sister who is in love with hamilton)
Jonathan groff plays king george
Christopher jackson plays george washington
Ariana debose plays "the bullet", an unnamed character but if you pay attention to her dancing throughout the entire show she does a lot of cool stuff relating to the death that follows hamilton and eventually resembles the bullet that shot hamilton in the end
[CHARACTERS WHO CHANGE]
Anthony ramos plays john laurens (hamiltons gay lover) in the first act and (hamiltons son) phillip in act two
Daveed diggs plays lafeyette (the french soldier) in act one and thomas jefferson in act two
Jasmine jones plays peggy (the third schuyler sister) in the first act and mariah reynolds (the woman hamilton cheats with) in act two
I cannot spell his name to save my life but the last actor i remember of importance is the same guy plays hercules mulligan (the tailor/spy) in act one and james madison in act two
Eliza isnt the baby and Hamilton didn't have an affair with either of her sisters.
In "It's Quiet Uptown" you said they're moving out of the city. They moved to about Harlem. You can still visit their home Hamilton Grange.
They literally said their names in the song
"I'm John Laurens in the place to be..."
"J,mapelle Lafayette"
"Brah, brah, I am Hercules Mulligan"
Herc is SO hype
XD so many miss the "rewind" after the wedding
I've seen the show live 4 times, once on Broadway and then here in my hometown. You can't beat the live version. But I still get chills every time I watch the Disney version
The orphanage she started is Gramham Windham there in NYC.
Watching this over 2 years later. Can confirm pricing for tour tickets are still ridiculous 😭
