Actually, I'm pretty sure Tom Selleck agreed to voice him because they had that joke in it. Like, I'm pretty sure the joke existed first and because it existed, he agreed to voice him.

I thought of it more as foreshadowing the fact that Tom Selleck voiced him.

    • @ZOXEY555

That line was actually scripted even before Selleck was hired to voice Cornelius/Adult Lewis. So it went from a funny joke to a clever foreshadowing.

Another neat little Easter egg: if you pay really close attention to the sounds in the opening scene, and the scene where Lewis goes back in time to see his mom, you'd realize that they actually sync up perfectly, in that Lewis was the noise that spooks his mom, as well as the one who knocked on the door in the beginning, after he'd already done everything.

I really like the design of the Bowler Hat Guy. He looks like those mustache twirling bad guys you’d see in really old cartoons or movies, and that makes perfect sense. He wants to be seen as this evil mastermind when in reality he’s a broken little boy who just needed to let go of the past.

For real. The animation studio for the movies continue to innovate, but in every other aspect Disney is going backwards. And even when you’ve got series like Owl House that are incredibly innovative, they’re cancelled without giving them a chance. That’s ignoring the copious live action remakes.

The Disney quote at the end was total coincidence. They had already finished most of the production with "keep moving forward" being the catchphrase and they just happened to stumble on the Walt quote with the words "Keep moving forward" in the archives, so they decided to include it at the end.

It’s genuinely a lovely movie. And honestly, depending on who you ask, this can be considered the final movie in the Disney Experimental Era (though most say it’s Bolt), and what a way to end it. Disney hit it out of the park with their second fully CG movie and I wish it did way better at the box office.
Also, the Tyrannosaurus Rex never fails to make me laugh. I adore him.

This movie is amazing and the message it sends to kids is beautiful. I wanna cite the scene where Lewis tries to fix the family's PB&J gun, and feels dejected only until they tell him it's okay that he failed. In fact they tell him it's great that he failed, all because he tried. I wish I put myself into more situations where I'd try new things and be open to failure, I'm gonna have to make an effort to do that. That's what this movie always reminds me

  • @namelessloser

If you pay really close attention, you'll notice that Lewis has 2 different voice actors. Wilbur and Lewis's VAs went through puberty after recording, but they needed to record some new dialog later on, so they had to get a voice match. They rerecorded most of Wilbur's lines with his original actor, but there are a few lines left from before his voice dropped. Just some trivia.

Something that just occurred to me: When adult Lewis walks out of the garage to see his family standing there with his past self, his "oh, oh" reaction was likely him realizing "oh right, I remember this day, this is something I have to do. I'm gonna have to have that talk with myself." That explains why adult Lewis gave a vague response to the "do we ever get to meet Mom?" question. He remembered that Wilbur took him back to the orphanage that night instead, and he let it up to his past-self to make the right decision: was he going to keep digging in the past or move forward.

And both my mom’s side and my uncle Joe’s side has fought for Lincoln in The Civil War; my mom’s mom; my grandma’s side a man named Thomas Haslam who fought in the unions in Ohio in the 116th infantry and my uncle Joe who married my dad’s sister my aunt Katy ancestor has fought for Lincoln in Fredericksburg VA, I’m glad that my learning of The assassination of Lincoln led me to my “Civil War brothers”. As much as Doris' death was both funny and maybe anticlimactic, I think it speaks to a deeper message of the movie besides "keep moving forward": the things in the past are ones we can't change, and fixating and holding grudges will do nothing to change them or improve them. Instead, the future is unwritten, and ours to create. But that future also requires us to act now in the present.
So now that Louis has this knowledge of the past(Goob missing the catch and being partially to blame), he can now take action in his present to prevent that happening. You can extend this too with something like the PB&J gun; by not fixating not it being a failure, he can use this knowledge what he did that didn't work, and apply that in his pursuit of it working in the future.
And the same thing happened with Doris. By choosing not to focus on the past (having already invented Doris), he is now armed with this new knowledge he uses to change his present(by deciding to never invent her) in the pursuit of a better future(one without her wreaking havoc and enslaving everyone).
And lastly, having seen his future, he applies that knowledge to his almost-encounter with his mother; that what's been done in his past, however fortunate or unfortunate, has led him to that point, and will also lead him to a future with a brilliant and loving family. So rather than try to hold on to that past, he decides that this future he carved for himself is amazing in its own right. But he isn't there just yet. All he can do is keep moving forward, doing and changing in pursuit of that future.

Meet the Robinsons was John Lasseter’s first job after taking the studio over from the Michael Eisner days of Chicken Little:
Originally, the plot was JUST going to be about meeting the wacky Robinsons, and the Bowler Hat Guy stealing the invention-Lasseter at first wanted to drop the BHG completely, but when he found out the director was also an orphan, his old Pixar instincts fixed the last twenty minutes. Just look at the change in the Coffee Lady in the last reel.

So I don't have a fun fact this time, but I just want say this movie has shaped me in many different ways, from the stories I write, to why I never give on anything. It's one of many of my favorites movies, it's a sad that it's so underrated, but all we can do is keep moving forward.

One of my favorite things is watching the videos of the making of the movie...seeing the voice actors in action and the creation of the characters and music. It's just as satisfying as the movie!

31:47, I know you saw the Lego Movie 2 since I saw the video where you and It’s Totally Cody reacted to it and there’s a reason that it has a joke about how time travel stories never make that much sense. It’s because they do things like this where they have the characters see the future change after the fact for dramatic effect even though by all logic it should be instantaneous

Lewis reminds me of Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog. They are both kids, blond hair, blue eyes and both like to invent and build things. Am I the only one?

You say sad reality about the child being left in the box in the beginning, but so much better than a childhood resigned to abuse and neglect. Takes a lot of heart to give up your kid, I hope, I was adopted at least a lot earlier than Cornelius.

This movie is underrated, it's better than the last thing Disney has done in years with that message, Let go of the past, Keep moving forward the future, Too bad it did poorly at the box office.

Because of the message that we ourselves control our own destiny and decide whether we move on, for me, as a child, this film was remembered more than all animation projects. I can call Meet The Robinsons the first full 3D Disney project. Chicken Little as if you can not mention.

Tom Selleck Voiced Cornelius. The director of the film was an Orphan. This movie has a really good message with “Keep moving Forward” like that can Hit people with mental health issues, like Depression, anxiety, or People who are grieving. Like Movie forward. You’re gonna be okay.❤ 2:27 Bruh. The Disney 100. Disney: Bruh we gotta get Bank.🤑 3:08 I ain’t gonna give birth to a human, My body can’t handle it. So I’ll adopt. Thank you.😊 3:38 Me and Goob have the same eyebags. FR. 4:30 My brothers allergic to peanuts 4:43 “Me too”-My brother years ago when He saw that scene. My dad would put Peanut Butter on my brother’s back as a kid. Moving On.😐 11:37 People working on this movie thought this is what the world would be like in 30 years. But I bet in 20 Years Flying cars will happen. I mean thats just a speculation. 37:06 Such a nice ending.❤

37:39, I like it quite a bit. I mean with Time Travel stories you have to make sure not to think about it too long or you start noticing the things that don’t make sense but even so the film’s pretty good. Also, I’m going to put this out there, Michael Yagoobian (Bowler Hat Guy) is basically an even less competent version of Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb (they were both created in 2007 and I’m not accusing either work of plagiarism, I’m just noticing they’re similar characters).

Thanks for the reaction, Tim and Malbread! This really is a wonderful movie, I don't understand why I didn't really hit the mark at the box office. I love how the ending gives both Lewis and Goob a second chance for a bright future, and it's definitely very applicable to our time now regarding letting go of the past and moving forward to make a better future for us. Man, this movie takes me back to my childhood. I used to watch this movie all the time. And yes I agree this movie is so underrated. And I remember that the soundtrack for this movie in my opinion was amazing. Rob Thomas(solo artist & singer for Matchbox 20), the Jonás Brothers, The All American Rejects, & other artists have contributed to the soundtrack for the film and Danny Elfman composed the score. Man I loved this movie.

1:22, after the 1990s ended Disney animated movies, when they were made, were less critically praised than they were once upon a time though Disney managed to restore its older reputation with movies like Tangled, Frozen and Wreck it Ralph

As underrated Meet the Robinsons was back in 2007, for Disney to adapt another of author William Joyce’s work (right after Rolie Polie Olie) it’s seriously needed to be told.

My theory on movie isn't more popular is because more than half the more is just an ok movie. It moves super fast, gives in your face of generic family stereotypes. With lots of crazy chaos going on with how weird Robinson family is. It is really is just average all around until the big reveal. Its not surprising reveal but gives much more structure story that leads into a very charming ending. The big pay off is that we see Lewis growth of letting go the past. He learns his mom loved him and that he also has a loving family in the future. He doesn't feel alone and a future worth working for. Its a great nostalgic feeling that we don't jump back to the future again but instead he knows if he keeps moving forward and not giving up he will see them again, a future filled with hope. I think the ending and last 20 minutes is more heartfelt than most Disney movies ending imo, so its a weird balancing act of great ending but avg beginning.

"Spike and Dimitri are twins but I'm not sure how they're related?"
    "Neither do we, go on."
What he means: "No one knows who they are nor where they came from but one day they showed up and they've been squating the plants in front of the door for so long they are now part of the family."
