I think that Vader always felt very lonely. Anakin cared deeply for his family and I think this was reflected in Vader. I think Vader wanted to turn his son because he felt he couldn’t turn back to the light, but saw in Luke, the possibility of not being alone anymore. I think this was an expression of Anakin but on such a background scale it manifested as an unconscious desire in Vader. Darth Vader (like his master before him) would likely find Luke’s power appealing to have, so would never have questioned or delved into this desire. I think if Luke had turned with Vader and they killed Sidious, Vader would have been weaker as he would have been happier. He might even turn back to the light more easily (as I don’t imagine Han or Leila would let Luke stay in the dark side for long without knocking some sense into him) because his bond with Luke strengthens

Anakin had given up hope, you could hear him say it in Return of the Jedi: “It is too late for me.”
He yearned to turn back to the light but had thought he had gone too far and was too weak to tune back. For years he fooled himself into believing he couldn’t come back. His reasons to come back(namely Padme) was gone.
But ever since he had heard his son had survived he realized Palpatine had lied to him and since that, light was springing up in love for his son. I believe when he found out he had a son Anakin (before the suit hit after the purge started) was revived, but when he betrayed Palpatine he was fully redeemed.

I don't think Vader WANTED to turn Luke. I think he knew that Luke was all he really had left, and couldn't bear the thought of the emperor killing him if he didn't turn. Vader must've thought the only chance for Luke's survival was to turn and join them.

I don't think he explained the new canon but basically most of the colours you see are set when the user imbues his essence into the crystal.
The colour varies based on the user's position in the force I think. Also if I'm not mistaken Ashoka's white lightsaber are when she purges and purifies what was originally red crystals.

Your videos are always worth watching and I am extremely appreciative of all the hard work you do every video you upload! My brother turns 21 soon, and he and I together have watched star wars movies since we were young kids. We don't get to see each other as often as we used to, since we are growing up, but he was a huge fan of Luke's blue lightsaber, and I honestly would love to give it to him for his birthday! First star wars related channel I saw was Stupendous Wave, but when I discovered your channel (Because they filled up the suggested bar too obviously), I started watching your videos much more because of how good they are! Plans to make videos either every day or every other day is amazing dedication, and I hope you surpass 1 million subscribers! Because of how much I like Anakin's story, and later becoming Vader, I would choose Luke's lightsaber, as a rep. of pre-corrupted Anakin. (Comment: Although it wasn't one of the sabers in the beginning of the video, I always thought Count Dooku's lightsaber was very unique).

What if Sidious fought Anakin in the throne room on the second Death star
1. *Vader he was still Vader in that moment, Vader died when Emperor started to attack Luke with Lightning 2.He would die, Sidious could kill Vader with single lightning attack
Darth Vader vader still had a saber to absorb lightning prior to losing it.

Vader being stronger than Sidious is simply not true and definetly not what Lucas had in mind when he wrote ROTJ, George Lucas saw Vader as cripple in an iron lung, shadow of his former self and this Vader overhype needs to stop.

I think the Emperor underestimated the power Anakin had always had, or at the very least just felt no one had the power to defeat him.
The fact that Anakin was able to spend decades encompassed by the dark side and return to the light side proves that in some respects, he was more powerful than Sidious.

I think Sheev Palpatine (or Darth Sidious if you will) was always blind to a great extend to how much Anakin Skywalker remained after Darth Vader "killed" him when Mace Windu was dispatched. Yoda even said that the future was clouded, difficult to see, and while Palpatine killed his master (Darth Plagueis) even he did not learn (as he was not able to avoid death) the key to immortality that seems to be a hallmark among the Sith (even more ambiguous is the end/demise of Darth Bane - the novel is not clear at the end if Bane's consciousness was successfully transferred to Zannah). Drew Karpyshyn even said that he "wanted to introduce just a hint of subtlety about how much of Bane survived," and that he left open the possibility of revisiting the situation at some point, saying that what was supposed to be left ambiguous was whether or not Bane was "still 'alive' in some way," or if "just a small part of his identity imprinted on her." All that said, the "rule of two" portended by Darth Bane was insanity personified - it ensures that followers of this mindset are doomed to destruction. As to turning Luke to the dark side, I do not believe Anakin wished that path for his son but rather Darth Vader saw it as a means to filling the void you describe here that he faced even with his dutiful following/allegiance to Palpatine. For even as Luke himself observed, "there is still good in him."

I read somewhere that Palpatine believed reason Darth Vader was weaker was not simply because of his injuries but because of his mental state and conflict with himself. Apparently he believed Vader could regain more of his powers if he wasn't trapped between light and darkness.
The Dark Side of the Force within Vader was fueled by the conflict and hatred he had within himself.

One thing that sprung to mind on this (old) video is that surely there must have been an awareness of the problem of 'only together can we turn him' due to the rule of two. There was always going to be one of them to go.

i have one: why didn't Obi Wan Kenobi just use the Force against General grevious? as you said in one of ur videos, the reason the jedi and sith don't just use their force is because they have an invisible force field, and General Grevious was just just trained to use a lightsaber, he wasn't a force user like a Jedi or Sith

Vader is embodiment of the old expression on how love can turn the best of men into the worst of monsters. Him being able to sense Luke was because of the Blood Ties increasing his faint connection to the light side. his need to have Luke by his side was him believing the a part of him that was Anakin to be dead but in the Morbid sense still wishing to be a father. When he saved Luke that was when he realized he still both Vader and Anakin.
What if Anakin had secretly sensed that Padme was strong in the Force, and had told her how to return as a Force-Spirit. In the Force Awakens, Anakin would dress up as Darth Vader, go to the First Order where he would be honored and ranked above Snoke, but secretly operate against the First Order. He would smuggle Luke, Padme and Leia in, and they would one-by-one defeat everybody, until reaching Snoke. Anakin would then 1v1 Snoke and completely obliterate him. He would then, return as a hero, to the Rebellion.
I'm sorry but that's not Anakin kiddo that's Kylo Ren also known as Ben Solo. Anakin is his grandfather. Just a piece of knowledge.

Its hard to imagine that when Palpatine felt the Buckle in the force that he didn't see the writing on the wall,That Vader sensing something so relevant while he felt nothing was a foreshadow...just as the Jedi had lost touch with the force before 66...or maybe he did and had the Fleet in #9....

honestly, i think that trying to turn luke was fiffy fifty anakin/vader. on vader's side, he wanted as he stated, someone to help him destroy palpatine. but on the side of anakin, it could be seen as trying to save what he thinks is the last remnant of his lost love; even if he must be saved by being led down his own twisted path.
