For red velvet, especially listening to feel my rhythm and wildside, I feel like all of them are vocally talented and more experienced than before. Yeri and Irene have proved that they can reach notes as high as the other members (based on wildside) while sounding very good. Joy should definitely be an official lead vocalist while I think there should not be sub vocalist positions in the group.
Not just on reaching notes, but Yeri is great at techniques actually. People would appreciate Yeri's vocal ability when they see bts of preps/planning, recordings and practices 💙
@@Vizible21 there are countless times they’ve sung live and even without any backing music at all, so if you’ve just gonna blindly try to hate on a group you should atleast try to know their flaws
wildside is mostly screaming, would be impossible to perform live w/o lipsyncing or heavy ass backtrack, don't think it's a good reference for good singing... Yeri and Irene have proven themselves countless times they can sing w/o having to force a high note out by shouting-singing, of course got a lot to work on but they can sing decently just well and enjoyable to listen to which is the most important
"how own earth is she (yuqi) a sub vocalist?" well the same way jaehyun from nct (main/lead vocal) isnt getting any lines anymore! idols with deep voices arent that respected by agencies unless they're a rapper.....
This. Moonbyul, Chanyeol and Irene wanted to be vocalists but just because their voices were deep and their vocal technique poor their agencies gave them the main rapper position (they're good/decent at rapping btw)
Bc kpop songs are written in a ridiculously high key. I mainly stan girl groups, but as a woman, I can sing more easily with boy groups. (Bc they're high for males groups, but not as high as female groups). If I want to sing along to girl groups, I have to put their songs through a pitch lowering app.
Jaehyun getting more less and less major vocal part in 127 tracks is never make sense to me. Like he literally kills Without You and it is his DEBUT song. His technique is quite developed and his ability of singing highnotes (despite the lower voice) also improved too over time.
Yo fr it's sad how overtime I actually miss hearing Jaehyun singing. He gets cast aside not just in his own unit but also in nct projects. Even though he is an excellent rapper, I wished they would treat him like the skilled vocalist that he is esp bc his deep voice *really* adds a lot of depth to the vocal line
YUQI is definitely MAIN VOCALIST material. Her voice is not just charming it is very very pleasant. I don't think it'll be changed or anything. I do, however, wishes she knows how good she is.
I'm not sure about the main vocalist part, but the positions (official) say she's a lead vocalist. I don't know why everybody says cube made her a sub vocalist
Yuqi and Yoohyeon are definitely main vocal worthy for their respective groups, and they both deserve more recognition for sure But I was surprised to see Joy as a lead vocal, her support is inconsistent and she tends to strain on some songs where she shares parts with Seulgi and Wendy Nonetheless, compared to Seulgi I think she have a better development of her head voice and her transitions to falsetto are clean, so idk
Same sentiments with Joy. I also think there isn’t a need to make Joy a lead vocalist when there’s already Seulgi with great technique. She still have many improvements to work on to be on her possible co-lead vocalist’s level.
okay so i have many recommendations : • vocal based groups / soloist - purple kiss ( same agency of mamamoo, really talented group ) - iu ( korea’s sweetheart she has this sweet but powerful voice ) - hyolyn ( the TRUE ALL ROUNDER : she has an incredible vocal technique and musicality, she is the best female dancer that korea has aver seen and she knows how to rap too ) - brave girls ( very capable girls especially in the vocal department ) - wonder girls ( ex group of sunmi, they were the most famous group from jyp ent and they had many valid main vocalists ) - sunmi ( she is like the weaker version of an all rounder, she can sing and has some decent technique, she can dance fairly well and she is trying to get experienced in rap )
Love the recommendations but side notes: -Purple kiss isn't really like MAMAMOO they're more dance-oriented, but still really talented esp Swan and Go-Eun. -Hyolyn is known as an all-rounder and "Korea's Beyonce" but honestly dance-wise she's far from being the best dancer, YES! she's good just not the best, there are better 2nd gen dancers -I'm not really sure about Brave Girls I thought they were known to being weak vocally, I guess we'll just have to wait for a vocal analysis.
@@eyaamri5566 i never said purple kiss are the same as mamamoo, hyolyn has actually the highest evaluation as dancer in korea, she is at the same level of chungha, and minyoung supports in somewhere near G3/G#3-C5/C#5, yuna and eunji are decent in the A3-A4 area
IU's voice is so overrated. When I heard about how Koreans talk about her, I thought she would be an amazing diva vocalist, but I was disappointed. Ailee and LeeHi are much better soloists.
100% agree with sua and yoohyeon. yoohyeon was already an amazing vocalist from the start and with time she developed even more and deserves the position of main vocalist along with Siyeon. Sua is an all rounder and can be mistaken as a main vocalist in other groups so she deserves the lead vocalist position
Purple Kiss is a must-see group! And even though they disbanded, you should look into iz*one as well so you can get further invested in the girls solo projects and their newly debuted groups (like how you mentioned IVE, but also le sserafim just debuted recently and they're so cool!)
I completely agree Yuqi's vocals are too underestimated! From the 4th gen vocals I believe checking StayC is a must ❤️ They sing live all the time and are incredible! I also love Purple Kiss vocal line as people are mentioning and gosh, I recently discovered Hyolyn with Queendom2 and she is just THE queen 👑
Joy and SuA were both lead rappers and sub vocals when debuted, but barely rap and are treated as lead vocalists. Edit: And I agree that Yoohyeon should be the second main vocalist of Dreamcatcher, while SuA as the lead vocalist along with JiU
Wholly agree with Joy's role!! She's got good color to her voice, though I think a little lower than Seulgi in terms of advancement in technique, but way better than a lot of other idols
Yes Nmixx’s Lily. I’m not that invested in 4th gen, but Lily is coming for us and I’m excited to see where they take their music next. The girls have been showing some seriously strong skills with singing, dance and performance and I hope their future music gives them the chance to showcase it.
i've been saying this for so long🤧joy should definitely be a lead vocalist, her tone is amazing and she's stable af edit: yuqiii she deserves lead vocal and lead rapper positions at least
My vocalist recommendations: - Yuju (now a soloist, former Gfriend member, just listen to Navillera, Rough and Mago by Gfriend) - Seunghee (former CLC member, if elegance were a person) - Chungha (soloist) General recommendations: - Loona - Minseo - Sunmi - WJSN (has an SM trained main vocal, so...) - Wonder Girls (Knowing your taste in vocal tone, you will love Sunye, but she unfortunately left the group already) - CLC (great discography, everyone is very talented) - Boa (She is the original)
Just to add to Seunghee: th-cam.com/video/Phw8Zk7sgpM/w-d-xo.html (Time: 03:16) Seunghee really nailed Jessi J.'s part in Bang Bang and this was her as a rookie.
@@saint9468 Minseo is a soloist. Just type that name into spotify and she will immediately come up. Her most popular/best singles are Is who, no good girl and weird you. And I did mean Yeonjung when I said sm trained main vocal.
In their new album Dreamcatcher has a song called "Always," and Yoohyeon once again blew me away when they did a live radio performance for the song. Her voice is so beautiful and I think she has just as much vocal power as Siyeon (just different tones).
Yoohyeon definitely has the talent and skills to be a main vocalist. She should definitely be raised to that position. She takes all the main vocal lines that isn’t given to Siyeon. SuA has progressed so much and is getting many lead vocal parts that I agree she should get the title. If she keeps progressing I could see her at main vocalist level soon enough. I would like to see her progress her rap more now that she has allowed herself to start doing it again. Her rap voice is beautiful. I hope they help Gahyeon progress more in her rapping skills and to get her more training on her sustainability when singing cause she’s been doing great in singing within her range and abilities.
you should definitely check out SNSD and F(x), I know you've checked more of Taeyeon's work, but Seohyun is also an amazing vocalist and Taeyeon has different settings as a vocalist inside of SNSD (as she shares high notes with Jessica, Tiffany and Seohyun +their japanese songs are just something else and so are their bsides) F(x) is just AMAZING you'll love them, Luna is a vocal beast!
@@kribyy7784 I really do think that she is one of the best vocalists in kpop, and, at her best, probably SM's best vocalist (when not paying attention to riffing, her voice just hits like a truck
@@aliyyahbalogun2686 I wouldn't say she's as versatile and experienced as Taeyeon and Wendy, but she supports better (but not as consistently) plus we haven't heard much of her live singing in the past few years (although she still sound INSANE in studio)
i totally agree with yuqi!! im glad her voice is finally being recognized her parts in idle’s new album scream MAIN VOCALIST material. honestly her voice has improved so much i honestly cant wait to hear more from her!
You will really like Purple Kiss, especially their main vocalist line. They have 3 main vocalist with different technique vocals! Anyway, they're Mamamoo little sister and just debuted last year. Highly recommended!
@@PauloLima-gk2uh chaein starting with the memem era and the showcase there as well as several other interviews following this era has been introduced officially as purple kiss’s third main vocalist
From the first time I listened to Dreamcatcher, I honestly thought Yoohyeon WAS the main vocalist because she has one of the most distinct voices. Eventually I've come to realize the *power* in Siyeon that earned her the main vocalist position which is perfect for their groups concept. But yeah, Yoohyeon would make a great 2nd Main Vocalist!
I know this was over a year ago but i have to say that Boca was one of my first Dreamcatcher songs and I truly believed Yoohyeon and Sua were main/lead vocal respectively. Imagine my surprise when I was wrong.
Yes, I really loved that you've heared about NMIXX, what a good vocal based group they are 👏👏👏. I also agree that JYP should let Lily sing in what style or technique she wants, I hope none of them will be overworked on their vocals
I don't think they'll get overworked since they're balanced group. Lily and Haewon are the strongest vocalists but Jinni, Sullyoon and Kyujin have sense of support and carry vocal lines pretty decently. Even Jiwoo and Bae who are currently the weakest have shown some supported moments already.
Ngl when I listened to Dreamcatcher for the first time, I thought Sua was a lead vocalist and was pretty surprised when I found out she wasn’t 😄 When it comes to Yoohyeon, she’s secretly another main vocalist looking at amount of lines she’s been getting. Personally, I’d like to have Handong and Gahyeon as lead vocalists in some songs. Love their voice colors a lot. Won’t be able to recommend any group as I mostly listen to 5 groups and you mentioned 4 of them (only Mamamoo missing). But watching Queendom, WJSN and Hyolyn seem to be quite interesting artists.
This thing is that if you put Seulgi and Joy in other groups, they can be the main vocalist & if you put irene and yeri in other group, they can easily take lead vocalist position. That really show how amazing the vocal that red velvet have.
I recomend the next groups and a few solists: Purple kiss, they are fairly new and from the same agency as mamamoo so they have pretty decent vocalists. Sunmi, she is a pretty good idol overall, she is decent vocalist, dancer, wants to start rapping and she even writes and co-produces most of her music. G friend, they saddly disbanded but most of the members already debuted as solists and 3 of them debuted in their own trio, their vocals are top tier (specially Yuju and recently Eunha) Iz*one, they were such an iconic group that disbanded last year, two of the members are in ive now, so i think you might like their music when they were in iz*one. Chungha, she is the defitintion of an all rounder, her music is amazing and so are her skills.
i love your video, thank you so much for adding dreamcatcher ♡ i think the exact same about fixing their vocal positions and i've been saying that for a long time
Honestly jype should make Nayeon a main vocalist since they treat her like it, or yes, if they could give Jeongyeon the lines she deserves they could be both lead vocalists and with the same treatment. And it's not just Nayeon, jype nowadays tends to always give Sana and Mina more lines than Jeongyeon. The problem, for them, is Jeongyeon. I'm tired
But honestly in their b sides and majority of the songs that Twice wrote Jeongyeon is treated as a lead vocalist because members themselves distribute lines. If I'm not mistaken, Jihyo also wanted to give one chorus to her in First time, but Jeongyeon refused cause she felt uncomfortable doing it.
@@andressa-yorke That's not really an excuse especially when you see they've been treating her pretty much the same ever since debut. The only time I can say they did well for her is yes or yes era. And even if it was for her health wouldn't they have done the same for Mina (giving her less line because of her mental health) ? Fact is they didn't. In terms of capabilities she's lead vocal material, but style and vocal tone wise they prefer the other members vocally. And even if they made a song that suits Jeongyeon they would usually give the lines to , Tzuyu, Jiyho or even chaeyoung. In conclusion JYPE constantly shows us where Jeongyeon stands within the group.
@@andressa-yorke Yes, you're right Jeongyeon is dealing with anxiety and she was also injured but JYPE treated her as sub vocalist even when she was healthy.
The problem with Minnie is that most of what Soyeon writes is inspired by her voice. A lot of music is therefore produced to suit her voice making her the main vocals.
that’s what i think! yuqi might technically be a better vocalist but because gg music is geared to higher tones voices and yuqis voice is deep so i don’t think she can carry a song vocally like a main vocals do
wait did Soyeon say this? I always felt like she produced for her own vocals... its just a good thing that Minnie and Soyeon have similar vocal styles...
I would love to see the promotions happening! Especially to Yuqi. She really has the vocal skills for it! Because if you rank subvocalists of kpop girl groups, she could probably be up there. Yuqi would probably be on the top 3 of it, easily.
You should never shut up about Jeongyeon deserving more lines. Also, Joy, Chaeryoung, and SuA all DESERVE that lead vocal position. And Yoohyeon would be an incredible second main vocalist for Dreamcatcher without a doubt. I’d love to see a similar video on rap positions because in a lot of groups the lead positions need updated… (looking at you red velvet)
I definitely recommend Loona for girlgroups! They have a lot of diversity in vocal styles and have explored a lot of genres (including classical/orchestra, nostalgic synth-pop, a LOT of r&b especially the OEC subunit and the XX album) while still maintaining a cohesive dreamy moon concept. Haseul (who I believe trained as an opera singer before debuting) & Chuu are the main vocalists, while Kim Lip, Yves, Jinsoul, and Heejin are lead vocalists.
Haseul being a main vocalist and barely getting any lines is something I'd never understand. Her voice is everything and BBC seems to underestimate her.
@@izabely8992 I think Choerry is a bit too weak for a lead vocalist, she's not really on the same level as Heejin or Jinsoul, and even Yves I think Lip would be a lead
Recommendations (not only girl groups and I am thinking about vocals): - Shinee (my utt group, the five of them can sing, but I highly recommend Onew's cover of Nessun Dorma and Excuse Me Miss bridge for Jonghyun) - Super Junior - SNSD (Into The New World ballad version is their most emotional performance, but I suggest you to watch fancams instead of the original video) - BESTie - Spica - 12Dal - Davichi - EXO - PinkFantasy
ooh.. sounds interesting. can't wait to hear your thoughts 😌 *EDIT* yesss.. I agree. Yoohyeon should be the other main vocalist and Sua should be lead vocal😍 yessss 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 give Jeongyeon more lines 🥺
I really have a problem on twice and itzy they don't treat the members position well in twice they give jeongyeon amount of sub vocal lines and in itzy they treat yeji as main vocalist
I would say: Rv: their positions are perfect, Joy isn't on the same level as Seulgi to be a lead vocalist as her, she is not even close to her (G) i-dle: I agree Yuqi must be a main vocalist as Miyeon and Minnie as a lead vocalist DC: Agree!! Yoohyeon is the best DC vocalist so making her a main vocalist is a must + Siyeon is weak technically and she isn't even close to Yoohyeon but she should stay as a main vocalist because her vocal really suits DC concepts Itzy: Agree in everything!! Agree with everything else!!
@@JL-jg8tr the same league as a vocalist? No. That’s simply not the case, a unique voice does not make you as good as a technically proficient vocalist, but she should be lead vocal since she already gets treated like one and gets the lines anyways.
I think the problem with red velvets position is that Seulgi is already good enough to be main vocal but Wendy is just like a god with vocals so even though Joy is pretty good as lead vocal material there is just big gaps of vocal skills like Joy isn’t on the level of Seulgi, but Seulgi also isn’t on Wendy’s level
YESSSSSS tbh I think a lot of these official positions are just left that way on their profiles even if they change with time, I think they just forget LMAO but Joy is a lead vocal in my heart (and ghe tracks already :P)
Yuqi is my favorite G-idle member, but I don't know if I can agree about her being main vocalist over Minnie. Yuqi can be a bit unstable at times when live, whereas Minnie is super stable when exploring different areas of her voice. Not to mention, Minnie's live cover of "Be Your Love" is insanely phenomenal and has me thinking she's almost better than Miyeon. I think both Yuqi and Minnie should be lead vocalists, but to say that Yuqi is main vocalist over Minnie....hmm.
Can you look into lesserafim? the company hasnt really given them a lot to work with so far but theres a shit ton of Yunjin pre debut vocal content (Chaewon is also good)
Joy reminds me of Sunny, tho Sunny is a lead vocalist but very underappreciated, Joy also is. There are a lot of underappreciated vocalist in SM, such as Sulli, Amber, Sunny, Joy, Giselle
I think Chaeyoung should have been trained and pushed as a lead vocalist, and Momo taken the raps in title tracks. Chaeyoung could still get her b-side raps, but take over the hard vocals on title tracks that Momo had to sing. I think they would have gotten a lot less hate for their encores that way.
Karina should be a lead vocalist alongside winter. Considering Karina is a mezzo-soprano, they’re pretty close in technique. Karina might even be a bit stronger.
@@jesusrivera0509 I really wish y’all would retire that stale ass argument. “She’s just a chesty soprano” orrrrr she’s just a mezzo? By that logic, Ningning isn’t a soprano. She’s just a heady mezzo.
@@mesmereized Don't need to be rude ...but yes ningning is a heady soprano, doesn't change anything ... karina's passagio doesn't seem to be any different from an underdeveloped soprano ...
There first content I have watch/heard of Dreamcatcher other than Chase Me and Goodnight was the cover of Siyeon, Yoohyeon, and Sua of Winner's Really really. And I just fell in love with their voices. These three are literally by bias line.
I agree wholeheartedly to the idle one, minnie sounds amazing, but majority of her singing lines are the same ones, cursive singing, yuqi on the other hand faces a lot different style in singing each comeback, plus she does all of them amazingly.
I would recommend DreamNote. They haven't that big of a discography yet due to several hiatuses, but their music is great! You may have heard of their latest comeback with Ghost.
You should do Everglow, I personality think their positions are inaccurate. And also, you should check out some groups with no official position like Ive, Le Sserafim, Stayc, etc and make a video about who would have a main vocal or lead vocal position. Great video btw
I HIGHLY recommend checking out more Everglow, even though only the main and lead vocalist stan out a good vocalist I think some of the sub vocalist hold a lot of potential!
I’d say make Jeongyeon a 2nd main vocalist with Jihyo so they could both bring power and big notes to the chorus lines. Nayeon being the 3rd strongest vocalist in the group, and being the center, should be the only lead vocalist in TWICE, still get lots of lines and center time, just not as many extremely challenging parts like she’s been getting. One group that I personally need to switch their vocal and dance positions the most would be WJSN. Despite having some capable vocalists in the group, Starship hasn’t been utilizing them properly. This would be my opinion based on my knowledge of vocal pedagogy and my personal dance trainings Seola: 1st Lead vocalist, center, 3rd lead dancer Bona: visual, face of the group, 2nd main dancer, sub vocalist Exy: leader, main rapper, vocalist (she got the skills as a lead vocalist, but her priority should definitely be rap), 2nd lead dancer Luda: visual, sub vocalist Soobin: 2nd lead vocalist Dawon: 1st main vocalist Eunseo: 1st lead dancer, 2nd lead rapper Yeoreum: 1st main dancer, 1st lead rapper Dayoung: 3rd lead vocalist Yeunjung: 2nd main vocalist Basically WJSN would work like the model of SNSD OT9, with 2 main vocalists, 3 lead vocalists. Dawon is the similar case as Jeongyeon but more extreme, the most developed vocalist in the group yet is rather poorly utilized, giving her more challenging lines would definitely lessen Yeunjung’s constant pressure of handling the biggest notes. SeolA, Soobin, Dayoung, should be lead vocalists in this respective order, as SeolA is the strongest of the 3. Exy should probably get more singing lines aside from being the sole rapper of the group. Sure she is one of the strongest female rappers in Kpop imo but her singing deserves more recognition too. Yeoreum and Eunseo could fill up the sub rap lines like they’ve been doing. Giving them the lead rapper positions just makes them more official. Their dance line could use more clarified positions as well. I know Bona, Yeoreum, and Eunseo are already in dance line, but SeolA and Exy deserve their dance title too. Yeoreum and Bona should be the 2 main dancers, with Eunseo, Exy and SeolA being the lead dancers. Basically the dance line would be WJSN The Black + Yeoreum
SuA is already Main Dancer and Lead Rapper so I feel like she won't be able to be a Lead Vocalist. I mean she could but it would look like she was favored by the label. SuA is an all rounder and one of the most underappreciated idols of the 3rd gen. Yoohyeon as a main vocalist would make a lot of sense and tbh she's effectively been a one for a while. She's been taking on more of what Siyeon would have done in the past and it's what allowed SuA to do a bit more in the verses. I would like to recommend the Crossroads concert practice version of Black or White. Everyone sounds so good and it honestly made me notice Gahyeon more as a vocalist. 🥰
yeah and the way she and Siyeon always switch parts in 1st/2nd chorus and sing similar lines clearly shows that they are both treated as main vocalists might as well put a name on it
Sua has been treated as a Lead Vocaliat for pretty much forever. Also, she is a Lead Rapper, but pretty much hasn't rapped since goodnight (a part from her solo no dot, if you want to call it rapping). Also Gahyeon should take her place as Lead Rapper, and Sua go as a Lead Vocalist. But it really doesn't matter as this new sub division is pretty much what the group has been for the last three years.
Speaking of inacurrate positions, yoohyeon is seriously one of the worst victims of that😭 lead vocal with the best technique and no dance position when she is on sua's level
Some of my recommendations: - The vocal line of purple kiss - SUHYUN of Akmu - Minseo (a soloist) - Seunghee of CLC - Loona (they have diverse techniques, one was an opera singer)
Firstly, I 100% agree with your Dreamcatcher and Idle decisions. Secondly, don’t hate me for this, but I would also switch Lia to lead vocalist and Yeji to main vocalist, just because that makes sense to me, though I love them both. Also, ik your video was about vocals, but I just wanted to say that even though Ryujin is my bias, she should not be center, while Yeji is way more center material Also there is a huge issue with Twice’s vocal positions. First off, Mina and Sana should be a lead instead of sub vocalists, and they’re already treated like ones. Nayeon should also be bumped up to main vocalist, which is also pretty obvious. Jeongyeon’s line distribution issue is also pretty saddening
Agree. For me Minnie has the most soothing voice and best control and definitely deserves to be main vocalist. Looking at their live performances Minnie actually is the best after Soyeon. That is where Yuqi’s weakness is tbh. But she deserves to be at least a lead vocalist if not main vocalist.
@@snaccident0740 Miyeon is the most stable. Soyeon's majority of the lines are rap parts which are easier than Miyeon's lines + Miyeon sings her entire part without breathing.
@@cupcakkehighspeedrail4934 Miyeon is stable too. Prefer Minnie though and listening to their performances and mr removed it seemed like Minnie was a bit more stable than Miyeon. Not an expert though.
@@cupcakkehighspeedrail4934 Also, Soyeon has so many singing lines and not only rap. Look at her first verse in tomboy (singing-wise much more difficult than Miyeon’s verses) or her first verse in Oh my god.
100% agree with you chaeryong should be a lead vocalist. As girl group I recommand Nmixx, like you said the vocal line ( Haewon, Sulyoon and Lily) have a real potential. You can watch the cover of kill this love that the group made cause its great
Yuqi is definitely more lead than main to me. I feel like Miyeon demonstrates a bit more freedom in the voice and technique and is a bit more versatile vocally. But I truly love Yuqi’s voice! Also Yoohyeon’s technique is honestly super underrated.
@@DeeDeeDeeeee technique wise? Hmmm…. Yuqi’s belting sounds a bit stressed to me. But I’ve never really heard her in other settings than a group setting. I should give a better listen!
I agree with everything, I just dont listen tô dreamcatcher. About Twice, Jeongyeon could be second main vocal If she receives a fair amount of lines. But in the reality, probably Nayeon would be a second main vocalist, since she sings the most. After them, Mina could be in the official vocal line, since she gets most lines after the 3 in the vocal line and her technique is also the best after them along Chaeyoung.
some group recommendations !!! STAYC - Yoon deserves main vocal w/ Sieun and Seeun deserves lead w/ Isa EVERGLOW - Onda really needs her lead vocalist position back (: PURPLE KISS - do they even have a weak vocalist???? cause i can’t find one
check out loona!! they're a big group, but they're the whole package imo. iz*one is disbanded now, but almost all of the members debuted solo/in other groups and they're definitely worth checking out. aaaaand!! ladies' code. sadly, a forgotten group that disbanded quite a while ago and had a huge tragedy happen to them, but their discography is flawless. regarding soloists - hyolyn and chungha.
I would recommend checking out gugudan. They disbanded in 2020, but they were super talented vocally. Their main vocalist, Kim Sejeong, is a soloist now. AleXa and Yena are also soloists to look out for, and Denise Kim recently left her former group, Secret Number, where she was the main vocalist. She might have my favorite voice in kpop, so, while we don't really know if she plans on joining another company, I would listen to some of her covers in hopes of updates on her status as an idol.
Fromis_9!! There’s one member who is a lead vocalist (I think her name is Hayoung) who has the abilities of a main vocal and sometimes gets the most amount of lines! Definitely worth checking out
recommendations: -purple kiss -wjsn -xg all 3 have insane vocalists dreamcatcher i wholly agree w/, yoohyeon and sua should be promoted lol ppl say siyeon isn't the best technical vocalist but her timbre just suits their rock sound so well it doesn't make sense to me if she isn't main vocal. and i mean she can sound good and can handle p difficult parts so... the other 3 (yoohyeon sua jiu) complement her very well anyway.. deukae is still a very strong group vocally cos of these 4
I hope you'll pay some attention to Purple Kiss. Like MAMAMOO, they are a very vocalist-oriented group and they have 3 main vocalists. They also have a great discography but seemed to be vastly underappreciated compared to other 4th gen gg. Please give them a listen and I'm sure you'll stan them real soon.
I recommend Loona! The girls don’t have fixed positions so it’s all for speculation and analysis, it will be fun to know who do you think will ultimately become main.
I would still retain Minnie's main vocal position because she maintains a good dynamic with Miyeon. Miyeon is obviously a better vocalist technically but as Minnie being a stylistic vocalist and many people are loving stylistic vocalists these days, she serves as the voice of the group and has the portfolio to back it up as well. Yuqi will have to take the lead vocalist as although she has better low ranges, she already struggles with the mid belts that drowns her deep voice making it sound unpleasant sometimes.
Groups id suggest to you probably would be definitely purple kiss. Im sure you would enjoy them, they have a lot of vocal content and a strong vocal line as well. Additionally i recommend brave girls, bvndit and wjsn :)
if you like darker/edgier kpop I'd definitely reccomend Pixy (AllArt) and Purple Kiss (RBW) because they have like more dreamcatcher dark horror-y vibes I think they're 3rd/4th gen? (every group after 2nd gen gets a little muddled for me) GWSN (not to be confused with WJSN) have a really nice dreamy quality to their music (I know you said only 3/4gen but like lemme slide some notable groups from 2nd gen for your consideration Brown Eyed Girls [sign, sixth sense, abracadabra] , Exid [ Every Night, I love you, Me & U], because I'm an old stan)
Actually, I always thought of Dreamcatcher’s rock aspect in terms of their use of rock guitar and drums. But this made me realize that Siyeon’s voice is an important part of their rock sound Yoohyeon does have a great voice, but Siyeon’s is more suited for rock. I agree SuA is lead vocalist level

You should check out Purple Kiss! they actually have a group full of vocalists (their rapper Yuki was trained as a vocalist at first before she willingly switched into rap after gaining interest in rapping), and their main vocalists are an absolute gem, heck even the rest of the group are gems when it comes to their vocals. They have plenty of covers that showcase each of their vocal colours
i would strongly recommend checking out purple kiss. they’re a very well rounded group in terms of focusing both on dance and vocals, and have three main vocalists, but their lead vocal line is no joke. they have lots of covers predebut and post debut era that show off the members other than the main vocalists better than actual title tracks.
For recommendations, my favorite group to recommend is 2NE1 being my first kpop group I listened to and my favorite. They are no longer together and they are from 2nd gen, but I still love their music and 3 of the 4 girls are active soloist so that could be fun to look into. Second would have to be a soloist who debuted in 2nd gen named Hyolyn. She’s honestly one of my favorite vocalist and performers. She’s killing it right now on Queendom. Another group I recommend is fromis_9. After hearing DM by them I fell in love. It was the first time I heard whistle tones in kpop (the other time being in some Mamamoo song I can’t remember the name of). And my last recommendation is a group that I think is pretty underrated named Brave Girls. They are probably one of the best kpop underdog stories and after many years of struggling to do well their song Rollin’ from 2017 beat out many favorites including BTS as the top song last year. They are my favorite group on Queendom 2 with my favorite from the first season being Park Bom formerly from 2NE1. I think they are a great group to listen to.
I would highly suggest purple kiss… they have one of the best vocal lines on the 4th gen right after aespa weekly and nmix.. they may not be the strongest but they r the most versatile. Chaein- has wheein runs Goeun- has solars power Swan- is a 1 in 1M voice like hwasa In kpop
Objection your honor hearsay. They have to prove themselves by actually singing live and not using auto tune.
Not Wildside 💀 I’m sorry but they sounded like they were screaming
@@Oliver-uz1fs but he’s not at the same level. I appreciate his tone, but he’s not at the same skill level as Jk.
@@elizabethc8478 During Senorita era, Yuqi was demoted to Sub Vocalist, Soojin was demoted to Sub Vocalist, and Minnie was bumped up to Main Vocalist.
Yuqi and Yoohyeon are definitely main vocal worthy for their respective groups, and they both deserve more recognition for sure
But I was surprised to see Joy as a lead vocal, her support is inconsistent and she tends to strain on some songs where she shares parts with Seulgi and Wendy
Nonetheless, compared to Seulgi I think she have a better development of her head voice and her transitions to falsetto are clean, so idk
Both are flopppps

Same sentiments with Joy. I also think there isn’t a need to make Joy a lead vocalist when there’s already Seulgi with great technique. She still have many improvements to work on to be on her possible co-lead vocalist’s level.
okay so i have many recommendations :
• vocal based groups / soloist
- purple kiss ( same agency of mamamoo, really talented group )
- iu ( korea’s sweetheart she has this sweet but powerful voice )
- hyolyn ( the TRUE ALL ROUNDER : she has an incredible vocal technique and musicality, she is the best female dancer that korea has aver seen and she knows how to rap too )
- brave girls ( very capable girls especially in the vocal department )
- wonder girls ( ex group of sunmi, they were the most famous group from jyp ent and they had many valid main vocalists )
- sunmi ( she is like the weaker version of an all rounder, she can sing and has some decent technique, she can dance fairly well and she is trying to get experienced in rap )
Love the recommendations but side notes:
-Purple kiss isn't really like MAMAMOO they're more dance-oriented, but still really talented esp Swan and Go-Eun.
-Hyolyn is known as an all-rounder and "Korea's Beyonce" but honestly dance-wise she's far from being the best dancer, YES! she's good just not the best, there are better 2nd gen dancers
-I'm not really sure about Brave Girls I thought they were known to being weak vocally, I guess we'll just have to wait for a vocal analysis.

Also StayC has the bops of 4th generation no doubt
no one in StayC has a sense of support, While Yuqi has shown support already
but stayC is still good as they are
Joy and SuA were both lead rappers and sub vocals when debuted, but barely rap and are treated as lead vocalists.
The girls have been showing some seriously strong skills with singing, dance and performance and I hope their future music gives them the chance to showcase it.
i've been saying this for so long🤧joy should definitely be a lead vocalist, her tone is amazing and she's stable af
edit: yuqiii she deserves lead vocal and lead rapper positions at least
Fr. I mean, she's already treated as a vocalist instead of a rapper, why not make it official?
My vocalist recommendations:
- Yuju (now a soloist, former Gfriend member, just listen to Navillera, Rough and Mago by Gfriend)
- Seunghee (former CLC member, if elegance were a person)
- Chungha (soloist)
General recommendations:
- Loona

- Sunmi
- WJSN (has an SM trained main vocal, so...)
- Wonder Girls (Knowing your taste in vocal tone, you will love Sunye, but she unfortunately left the group already)

YES PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON NMIXX!! They've shown promising skills despite being rookies! Lily & Haewon's speechless cover still blows my mind.
NMIXX is such a vocal monster for 4th gen. Both Heawon and Lily are main vocalist materials.
you should definitely check out SNSD and F(x), I know you've checked more of Taeyeon's work, but Seohyun is also an amazing vocalist and Taeyeon has different settings as a vocalist inside of SNSD (as she shares high notes with Jessica, Tiffany and Seohyun +their japanese songs are just something else and so are their bsides) F(x) is just AMAZING you'll love them, Luna is a vocal beast!

Joy is deserved to be promoted from sub to lead vocal..
Ngl when I listened to Dreamcatcher for the first time, I thought Sua was a lead vocalist and was pretty surprised when I found out she wasn’t 😄
When it comes to Yoohyeon, she’s secretly another main vocalist looking at amount of lines she’s been getting.
That really show how amazing the vocal that red velvet have.
bruh what yuqi is a sub-vocal?! I could've sworn she was lead!
I recomend the next groups and a few solists:
Purple kiss, they are fairly new and from the same agency as mamamoo so they have pretty decent vocalists.
Sunmi, she is a pretty good idol overall, she is decent vocalist, dancer, wants to start rapping and she even writes and co-produces most of her music.
G friend, they saddly disbanded but most of the members already debuted as solists and 3 of them debuted in their own trio, their vocals are top tier (specially Yuju and recently Eunha)
Iz*one, they were such an iconic group that disbanded last year, two of the members are in ive now, so i think you might like their music when they were in iz*one.
Chungha, she is the defitintion of an all rounder, her music is amazing and so are her skills.
i love your video, thank you so much for adding dreamcatcher ♡
i think the exact same about fixing their vocal positions and i've been saying that for a long time
I thought Yuqi and Chaeryeong are lead vocalists. I like Yuqi's voice when she and Minnie sang Dua's song 'Lonely'
I'm tired
I'm not a Once but maybe the Jeongyeon thing if because she want to mantain a low profile for mental Heath, isnt it?
@@ravenmindful673 As I said, I'm not Once so I didnt knew the historical of their line distribution. Anyways I got it, thank you.
Haseul (who I believe trained as an opera singer before debuting) & Chuu are the main vocalists, while Kim Lip, Yves, Jinsoul, and Heejin are lead vocalists.
kim lip & heejin are probably on the main line as well tbh, them and chuu are always the ones who get the most lines for a reason
Haseul being a main vocalist and barely getting any lines is something I'd never understand. Her voice is everything and BBC seems to underestimate her.
Choerry too is lead vocalist.
Main vocal: Haseul, Chuu and Lip
Lead vocal: Heejin, Jinsoul, Choerry and Yves
Sub vocal: the rest
@@izabely8992 I think Choerry is a bit too weak for a lead vocalist, she's not really on the same level as Heejin or Jinsoul, and even Yves

Uh no. Seulgi may have a stronger voice but Joy’s unique tone puts her in the same league, as MANY professionals will attest.
I fully fully agree with you. No complaints. Great video!

How is Joy underappreciated? This comparison makes no sense cause Joy has always showcased her vocal abilities, unlike Sunny.
I think Chaeyoung should have been trained and pushed as a lead vocalist, and Momo taken the raps in title tracks. Chaeyoung could still get her b-side raps, but take over the hard vocals on title tracks that Momo had to sing. I think they would have gotten a lot less hate for their encores that way.
chaeyoung is the best rapper on the group though. neither dahyun or momo come quite close
Karina should be a lead vocalist alongside winter. Considering Karina is a mezzo-soprano, they’re pretty close in technique. Karina might even be a bit stronger.
Karina is not a mezo tho, just a chestier, darker soprano

I’d say make Jeongyeon a 2nd main vocalist with Jihyo so they could both bring power and big notes to the chorus lines. Nayeon being the 3rd strongest vocalist in the group, and being the center, should be the only lead vocalist in TWICE, still get lots of lines and center time, just not as many extremely challenging parts like she’s been getting.
One group that I personally need to switch their vocal and dance positions the most would be WJSN. Despite having some capable vocalists in the group, Starship hasn’t been utilizing them properly. This would be my opinion based on my knowledge of vocal pedagogy and my personal dance trainings
Seola: 1st Lead vocalist, center, 3rd lead dancer
Bona: visual, face of the group, 2nd main dancer, sub vocalist
Exy: leader, main rapper, vocalist (she got the skills as a lead vocalist, but her priority should definitely be rap), 2nd lead dancer
Luda: visual, sub vocalist
Soobin: 2nd lead vocalist
Dawon: 1st main vocalist
Eunseo: 1st lead dancer, 2nd lead rapper
Yeoreum: 1st main dancer, 1st lead rapper
Dayoung: 3rd lead vocalist
Yeunjung: 2nd main vocalist
Basically WJSN would work like the model of SNSD OT9, with 2 main vocalists, 3 lead vocalists.
Some of my recommendations:
- The vocal line of purple kiss
- SUHYUN of Akmu
- Minseo (a soloist)
- Seunghee of CLC
- Loona (they have diverse techniques, one was an opera singer)
Firstly, I 100% agree with your Dreamcatcher and Idle decisions.
Secondly, don’t hate me for this, but I would also switch Lia to lead vocalist and Yeji to main vocalist, just because that makes sense to me, though I love them both. Also, ik your video was about vocals, but I just wanted to say that even though Ryujin is my bias, she should not be center, while Yeji is way more center material
Also there is a huge issue with Twice’s vocal positions. First off, Mina and Sana should be a lead instead of sub vocalists, and they’re already treated like ones. Nayeon should also be bumped up to main vocalist, which is also pretty obvious. Jeongyeon’s line distribution issue is also pretty saddening
Minnie is def main vocal material she tends to hit most of the high notes in gidle plus has alot of control over her voice
Hitting high notes doesn't makes someone a better vocalist. Miyeon and yuqi are much better than her.
Look at her first verse in tomboy (singing-wise much more difficult than Miyeon’s verses) or her first verse in Oh my god.
jeongyeon getting little lines despite being a lead vocalist will always remain an issue
100% agree with you chaeryong should be a lead vocalist. As girl group I recommand Nmixx, like you said the vocal line ( Haewon, Sulyoon and Lily) have a real potential.
You can watch the cover of kill this love that the group made cause its great
I would also check out Stayc, they seem really stable live.
True....
Yuqi is definitely more lead than main to me. I feel like Miyeon demonstrates a bit more freedom in the voice and technique and is a bit more versatile vocally. But I truly love Yuqi’s voice!
Also Yoohyeon’s technique is honestly super underrated.
Yuqi and miyeon are kinda equal when it comes to technique, except yuqi is a better belter and miyeon is better in a higher range
@@DeeDeeDeeeee technique wise? Hmmm…. Yuqi’s belting sounds a bit stressed to me. But I’ve never really heard her in other settings than a group setting. I should give a better listen!
@@deec.5038 yeah definitely listen to Bonnie and Clyde by Yuqi her low belts are amazing
@Whimsical🌨 yees, I just would not give chae a lead position, since she already is the main rapper and the lines she is given are not enough
I always thought Mina is lead vocalist lol
Jeongyeon is a better vocalist than Nayeon, but she gets less lines.
some group recommendations !!!
STAYC - Yoon deserves main vocal w/ Sieun and Seeun deserves lead w/ Isa
EVERGLOW - Onda really needs her lead vocalist position back (:
PURPLE KISS - do they even have a weak vocalist???? cause i can’t find one
I felt like yuqi should be a main vocal and minnie two bc i love her prechorus in hwa
Handong deserves a lead vocalist positon bye
check out loona!! they're a big group, but they're the whole package imo. iz*one is disbanded now, but almost all of the members debuted solo/in other groups and they're definitely worth checking out. aaaaand!! ladies' code. sadly, a forgotten group that disbanded quite a while ago and had a huge tragedy happen to them, but their discography is flawless. regarding soloists - hyolyn and chungha.
Other groups may have more than 1 main vocalist
In RV: be that level is not easy when Wendy is here
I would recommend checking out gugudan. They disbanded in 2020, but they were super talented vocally. Their main vocalist, Kim Sejeong, is a soloist now. AleXa and Yena are also soloists to look out for, and Denise Kim recently left her former group, Secret Number, where she was the main vocalist. She might have my favorite voice in kpop, so, while we don't really know if she plans on joining another company, I would listen to some of her covers in hopes of updates on her status as an idol.
thank u! sua is definitely lead vocalist material
TWICE NEW POS; (I.M.O)
NAYEON-LEAD VOCALIST,LEAD DANCER,SUB-RAPPER,CENTER & FOTG
JEONGYEON-LEAD VOCALIST
MOMO-MAIN DANCER,LEAD RAPPER,SUB-VOCALIST
SANA-LEAD DANCER,SUB-VOCALIST,VISUAL
JIHYO-MAIN VOCAL,MAIN DANCER,LEADER
MINA-LEAD DANCER,SUB-VOCALIST,SUB-RAPPER
DAHYUN-LEAD RAPPER,SUB-VOCAL,LEAD DANCER
CHAEYOUNG-MAIN RAPPER,SUB-VOCAL
TZUYU-SUB-VOCALIST,SUB-RAPPER,VISUAL,MAKNAE
Litterally same ! I maybe just wouldn't put dahyun and mina in the dance line
Idk if you had but I think you should check out Eunji from Apink and Minah from Girls Day, both great vocals imo but I would like to see your opinions
lovelyz are great vocalists in case you’ve been wondering
Yoohyeon has always been a main vocalist to me. Karina can definitely be lead vocalist. She's actually my fav singer in aespa.
Fromis_9!! There’s one member who is a lead vocalist (I think her name is Hayoung) who has the abilities of a main vocal and sometimes gets the most amount of lines! Definitely worth checking out
Yeah...hayoung is my biased she have a really beautiful voice but her lack of technique (support)
recommendations:
-purple kiss
-wjsn
-xg
all 3 have insane vocalists
dreamcatcher i wholly agree w/, yoohyeon and sua should be promoted lol
ppl say siyeon isn't the best technical vocalist but her timbre just suits their rock sound so well it doesn't make sense to me if she isn't main vocal. and i mean she can sound good and can handle p difficult parts so...
the other 3 (yoohyeon sua jiu) complement her very well anyway.. deukae is still a very strong group vocally cos of these 4
a subvocalist who is better than most main vocals, that is yuqi
Yuqi will have to take the lead vocalist as although she has better low ranges, she already struggles with the mid belts that drowns her deep voice making it sound unpleasant sometimes.
recommendations:
- loona (i’d love to see you give them vocal positions!)
- wjsn
- clc
- weeekly
- everglow
Groups id suggest to you probably would be definitely purple kiss. Im sure you would enjoy them, they have a lot of vocal content and a strong vocal line as well.
Additionally i recommend brave girls, bvndit and wjsn :)
if you like darker/edgier kpop I'd definitely reccomend Pixy (AllArt) and Purple Kiss (RBW) because they have like more dreamcatcher dark horror-y vibes
I think they're 3rd/4th gen? (every group after 2nd gen gets a little muddled for me)
GWSN (not to be confused with WJSN) have a really nice dreamy quality to their music
(I know you said only 3/4gen but like lemme slide some notable groups from 2nd gen for your consideration
Brown Eyed Girls [sign, sixth sense, abracadabra] , Exid [ Every Night, I love you, Me & U], because I'm an old stan)
I really hope that for Twice's next comeback they give Jeongyeon more lines... PLEASE, at least in the top 4
yes jisoo as sub rapper would be so fireeeee
TALK ABOUT IT TALK ABOUT JEONGYEON
Istg I'm tired talking about this tbh bc this will never change, we been screaming about her for years
Actually, I always thought of Dreamcatcher’s rock aspect in terms of their use of rock guitar and drums.
But this made me realize that Siyeon’s voice is an important part of their rock sound
Yoohyeon does have a great voice, but Siyeon’s is more suited for rock.
I agree SuA is lead vocalist level
That's what people don't understand siyeons voice is literally suited to everything not just rock
I think Handong should be the lead vocalist 🤔
You should do a vídeo about mixing idols from different groups and giving them positions. Or inside groups that already exist, make subunits.
Imo

Chaein- has wheein runs
Goeun- has solars power
Swan- is a 1 in 1M voice like hwasa In kpop
