My first listen was actually Secret Story of the Swan as it just so happens I gained interest right when they had their comeback stage! And the song kept playing in my head so I dove deep into the elegant world of IZ*ONE in 2020. All because Wonyoung just happened to catch my eye.

She's literally a child, she doesn't deserve all the hate. Her being labeled "the pick me girl" bc of her expressions or personality is so weird, bc k-pop idols are literally taught to exaggerate their expressions on stage and their public persona is NOT their real character. Wonyoung just did whatever she could to both ensure and maintain her status in this damn industry, and it worked - she's indeed quite popular. Now she's super conscious in front of the camera and immediately puts on a character that she believes is "perfect." It's actually sad, as she's only a kid. Her being called out on her plastic surgery is also not it, bc 90% of idols get it. I too feel bad that she got it so young, but I know the immense pressure this industry puts on its workers. I don't know, I feel like we just need to let the kid live and enjoy her fame.

Actually no. She gets hate from netizens started because she debuted so young. Netizens have always have issues with idols debuting at such a young age. Instead of them being mad at the companies (and even parents) for debuting these young idols they get mad and send hate the idols themselves which is really sad. I'm sure now she probably gets hate for stupid superficial reasons like ones you listed but that's not the root of it

She will be 18 this year, which is kinda an adult. I know the hate will die down once she’s in her twenties, which is not too far away from now. I feel like “kpop fans” attack young successful idols, out of jealousy. And it’s sad.

@@sabyasachibhuyan1 u are right, 95% of the time it was edited to make her look bad but 5% of the time it was her actions that cause the misunderstanding. Coming from a former person who use to really dislike wony (dislike not hate, i nvr hated on her), after observing her for the past 4 years (I AM A STAN NOW LOL SHE IS MY ULT BIAS IN THE WHOLE OF KPOP), she does have a few misleading actions such as:
1) Habit to roll her eyes - cuz by dry eyes + contacts, truth to be told lots of ppl have this problem. And believe it or not but at the WRONG angle at the WRONG TIME, this can look really wrong and she became victim of getting hate for "rolling" her eyes at ppl.
2) Crossing her arms - to be HONEST, i didnt like her at first because she gave me a very cold and "arrogant" vibe because of this, it does make her appear to hv some sort of "attitude" but i recently made a friend who is always doing this too and when i ask her about it she say its because she has such long limbs so its kinda awkward swinging them around when she is walking + its easier to walk with arms crossed for her. We all have different preferences in the way we carry ourselves. And this applies to the way we eat as well. Everyone eats differently n enjoys their food differently so who r we to tell others that eating food with two hands is wrong while eating food with one hand is correct?
3) Pouting, winking too much etc etc - I gonna be really honest.. When i first see her on produce, i cringe everytime she does this. But now, i just brush it off even tho sometimes i still cant stand it. We gotta rmb, not everyone is built the same. Just because majority of us have a natural friendly smiling face it doesn't mean everyone enjoy this kind of privilege. Some ppl have a serious rbf and its not their fault that they are born this way, they can be feeling happy and ppl would ask them "Why do u look so mad?" even when they ain't doing anything. Their resting face just looks cross 24/7 even when they are not and having observe her for the past 4 years, i realise that she does have this problem. When she doesn't smile she srsly looks very cold and unapproachable. And i am sure she knows it too, like everyone around her prob tells her that, esp the company. And being an idol, u HAVE to appear approachable and friendly to the public if not they will tag u as "unpleasant, cold, ice princess, arrogant, attitude problem etc". So even tho we can't relate or understand, try to know that there is always two sides of the story and there is always a reason why ppl do what they did. And having to constantly take note of your image to appear cute and be someone that doesn't really reflect the smart, reserved, non-aegyo type her true nature is honestly is alot more tiring for her. Thats some real effort and dedication, i couldn't appreciate it in the past because i couldn't see it but now, i could and i love her so so much for it. Thats REAL effort right there and i really admire her and respect her for it. Not every idol is willing to take that extra mile and put in that extra effort because just thinking about it sounds tiring already... some idols will just go fk it and dc. Even if they choose to do that, we should respect them for it because everyone have a right to decide how they want to appear in the public's eyes.

At first when WonYoung was in IZ*ONE I didn’t really like her and sometimes found her annoying. But never judge a book by its cover, after she debuted in IVE, I watched their vlogs and realized she’s actually a very sweet and hard-working person and now she’s definitely one of my biases! Wonyoung its a complex idol, maybe the most. No one know for sure her background, she never talk in details about her private life, she never talk about the hate she receive, no one know exactly if her contract its different from the other members (with brand making preassure) that could explain the "favoritism" from starship. And after follow her for a while, its not hard to me believe that she suffer some kind of healt issue due to her profession, if her weight have something to do with the preassures from the company and the hate from people. Woonyoung is the top 4th generation female idol right now. She maintains a professional demeanor and reads and accepts criticism admirably. Why does Wonyoung get so much hate? Because a large portion of Kpop fans are 13-15 year old girls. I personally think it's good that we don't know much about her private life since she debuted so young and is still young. The way some people are already hating on her think what they would do if they knew more about her private life. From Day 1, wiz*ones knew that Wonyo is super adorable and likes to be pampered by her 11 unnies, and her 11 unnies love pampering her... she's also such a sweetheart and always care about what her unnies were going through/always one of the first members to give reactions to whatever her unnies were doing. And she once mentioned that her hobby was "playing with my 11 unnies", and admitted that she once had a nightmare that she woke up to see her 11 unnies gone suddenly. After the director had confessed that he had rigged the votes why didn’t he get as much hate? Even tho wonyoung has done nothing wrong and is just trying to make it to iz*one however no one had reprimanded the director for rigging the show. Plus wonyoung does not control nor own produce 48. It is just her general stage presence and improvement that made her debut
Section 2 (iz*one) She had no reason to be hated on in her fancams. Wonyoung was never planning on being an idol I’m the first place we might never know what it is but it was never her plan once again I will say it. It’s her talent looks and stage presence that got her into produce 48. And if anything it’s the company to blame. Wonyoung had debuted at 13 years old because of the company yet no one reprimands star ship. They have forgotten that wonyoung doesn’t own starship and it’s simply the company’s fault
Section 3 (I’ve) People still hate her even after her debut in I’ve. However when being a K-pop fan and your favorite group disbands but member or members are still active you will want to know what is going on with there life. So wonyoung was already popular even before she joined I’ve which is what happend in the first place. They reprimand her for absolutely nothing

I will say it again she did not choose this life this was never mentioned in her plan in the first place. And also when dealing with a controversy pretty much everyone sided with the media. I liked Izone but only because of Sakura and Wonyoung. Producers did Sakura bad. Though I liked Wonyoung but I felt she was over rated. Even in Ive she is given more priority than others I can see that in MVs, shows dressing etc. It's really unfair. Even the popularity of Ive it's because of her. Producers are really bad. They are exploiting Wonyoung. It would have been better if Wonyoung was in ITZY or Aespa.
When i first watched iz*one performance she really captured my eye, her stage presence was amazing and the fact that she is almost the same age as me was made me to be interested on her. She became one of my inspiration because the fact that she receives a lot of hate she doesn't really show that she is affectected "you are you, I am me" and she always have a positive and bright energy. She deserves more love!
Wonyoung and 1 are on the same age. She's only days older. And I applaud her toughness for not breaking down despite all the hate all through these years. I'm proud of her and will continue to support her and will be my role model ☺

Netizens started suspecting Wonyoung's ethnicity because she said her family doesn't make kimchi at all. That's something that EVERY korean family eats. And then some chinese fans pointed out that she was purposely pronouncing chinese words wrong when they were teaching her, but the rhythm and gestures she made implied that she actually knows the meaning.
Coming from a former person who use to really really dislike wony (dislike not hate, i nvr hated on her), after observing her for the past 4 years (I AM A STAN NOW LOL SHE IS MY ULT BIAS IN THE WHOLE OF KPOP), she does have a few misleading actions and IMO, these made ppl misunderstood her really really easily. I always felt like she is just the type of ppl that some would really hate because they misunderstood her/dun really know her but once u understand her, get to know her more, u can't help but to fall for her because she is so lovable and very different from what her "bad image" sells.
Such as:
1) Habit to roll her eyes - cuz by dry eyes + contacts, truth to be told lots of ppl have this problem. And believe it or not but at the WRONG angle at the WRONG TIME, this can look really wrong and she became victim of getting hate for "rolling" her eyes at ppl.
2) Crossing her arms - to be HONEST, i didnt like her at first because she gave me a very cold and "arrogant" vibe because of this, it does make her appear to hv some sort of "attitude" but i recently made a friend who is always doing this too and when i ask her about it she say its because she has such long limbs so its kinda awkward swinging them around when she is walking + its easier to walk with arms crossed for her. We all have different preferences in the way we carry ourselves. And this applies to the way we eat as well. Everyone eats differently n enjoys their food differently so who r we to tell others that eating food with two hands is wrong while eating food with one hand is correct?
3) Pouting, winking too much etc etc - I gonna be really honest.. When i first see her on produce, i cringe everytime she does this. But now, i just brush it off even tho sometimes i still cant stand it. We gotta rmb, not everyone is built the same. Just because majority of us have a natural friendly smiling face it doesn't mean everyone enjoy this kind of privilege. Some ppl have a serious rbf and its not their fault that they are born this way, they can be feeling happy and ppl would ask them "Why do u look so mad?" even when they ain't doing anything. Their resting face just looks cross 24/7 even when they are not and having observe her for the past 4 years, i realise that she does have this problem. When she doesn't smile she srsly looks very cold and unapproachable. And i am sure she knows it too, like everyone around her prob tells her that, esp the company. And being an idol, u HAVE to appear approachable and friendly to the public if not they will tag u as "unpleasant, cold, ice princess, arrogant, attitude problem etc". So even tho we can't relate or understand, try to know that there is always two sides of the story and there is always a reason why ppl do what they did. And having to constantly take note of your image to appear cute and be someone that doesn't really reflect the smart, reserved, non-aegyo type her true nature is honestly is alot more tiring for her. Thats some real effort and dedication, i couldn't appreciate it in the past because i couldn't see it but now, i could and i love her so so much for it. Thats REAL effort right there and i really admire her and respect her for it. Not every idol is willing to take that extra mile and put in that extra effort because just thinking about it sounds tiring already... some idols will just go fk it and dc. Even if they choose to do that, we should respect them for it because everyone have a right to decide how they want to appear in the public's eyes. Its THEIR career after all... not ours.

The only explanation I can find for Wonyoung's "fake" and "cocky" personality is that she acts like this because she knows she has to look pretty and cute. All idols have to do that, even though many don't. It's their job, they don't choose to do it. I know that Wonyoung and other idols can cringe sometimes, but they surely have to. Ehm I just came to this vid after watching kdrama named Sh**ting stars. I recommend it to everyone. And why? Because thanks to this drama I realized what was happening behind the scandals. Not only the artist suffers from public hate but also the company who cleans this mess and also the journalists(they are pressured sometimes from public and in result they feed the netizens with what they want, some articles doesn't contain fact-checked information sometimes.) People judge too quickly with just speculations, even if it clicks that it may be true its never a fact until its confirmed. Now lets talk about the nationality. Well even tho she can be Taiwanese it doesn't mean that she has to speak Chinese or behave like Taiwanese people, I am from Vietnam but I live in Europe(both of my parents are Vietnamese) but I don't speak Vietnamese and don't follow the traditions. But it still doesn't matter what nationality she is since it's her personal thing, they are still human with rights to have their personal information in secret. And I wouldn't necessarily blame the company for faking their height, age or nationality. About their behaviour- like I said many times they are human, if you didn't know, we are moody, we can be angry, happy, sad and rude, thats what describes humanity, just because she's rolling her eyes or looks like shes giving bad attitude towards her members it doesn't mean shes judging or hating them.
