I cannot love this video enough. Eight or Nine years ago I quit all of the things you mentioned here and more. A new pastor (whom was a bit questionable) and my daughter’s cancer diagnosis caused me to evaluate myself, my walk of faith, and scour the Bible for promises to cling to, as she battled cancer. I discovered many truths that the “Christian church” do not align with. And you are so right, the “church” is not a building, it is believers. And, I did not find you to be harsh at all, as some are suggesting.
I agree. She was very kind about it. If people are having any feelings about this video they need to really step back from it all and study and see what the Bible says to be a Christian vs our culture.
Enjoyed your video very much. Thank you for bringing these things to light. Finding a good church that studies and teaches the BIBLE is imperative..and not always easy. Reading it for ourselves is absolutely necessary but we will have questions and it helps to be under pastors/teachers that are gifted and know the original languages. Once saved the growing process (sanctification) is different for everyone. Unfortunately many of our churches today "stunt" the congregations' growth. Find the best you can local bc it's important to have a church home and people to fellowship with, but go online if you need deeper biblical teaching to help you grow spiritually. It takes years to gain wisdom to open our eyes to these many supposedly "churchy, Christian" ok things
@RobynDuder-i2o noticed your comment on legalism...I understand what you mean. I guess it can be easy to get legalistic. It's strange bc I grew up in just the opposite, a VERY grace oriented church that seemed to try it's best to be just opposite of legalistic. I think it went to the extreme though..many people weren't living godly, holy lives, inc myself. That is just as dangerous. It's very difficult to be in the world but not "of" the world, as Paul says. I guess God leads and grows everyone differently. Trying to stay away from sin outwardly and mentally is our goal I guess..to try to stay close to God and grow in his Word. Us showing love and grace to others is definitely His desire, so I try to speak truth in love. I can remember more mature believers doing that to me while they patiently waited for my spiritual eyes to open lol
I thank God for another day when I wake up, I’m trying to talk to Him before my feet hit the ground. I’ve been studying the NT with my husband nightly after dinner with my highlighters and pens, note-taking Bible. We take our time, discuss, ask any questions that arise. It’s been amazing the amount the Lord has spoken to me and strengthened our marriage. Praise God.
The foundation is the " old" or original covenant...that's the best place to start. Think of it like this...Any other book....would you start reading and studying halfway through?
I appreciate your comment. I wish I had the time to share my life story. Have you ever heard of Pastor Allen Nolan? Hundreds of people, including myself, attend his church online every Sunday. For genuine Bible study and learning, he's someone to follow. I've been watching his teachings for about two years. He has over a thousand videos on TH-cam. The first video that captivated me is part of a series called "Death," which consists of six videos. I would suggest that you and your husband at least check it out. GOD bless you and your family.
I love early 4 or 5 am morning time with Jesus. The world is quiet and still. I love being on my knees giving Him glory, honor and praise! I don’t tell anyone about it because it isn’t about me but it is about Him. Some mornings I don’t get to it but I don’t focus on the hour or what it may mean to the world but what I’m doing that is pleasing to Him.
In January of this year I started reading through the bible first thing in the morning at 5 a.m. I think it is so important with all the attacks of the enemy the best way to start your day is getting covered in the word. I love my coffee and Jesus time it is a great way to start your day.
we read as a family every morning about 5. We have found it is the only time we dont let other stuff get in the way. Its also nice to start evey day with family prayer and Bible reading. Full disclosure, if our schedules allowed us to start that day at 7 instead of 5, we’d all be on board!
Dear Sweet Heidi, I thought, as I listened to this just now and saw many of the comments, how we need to be careful to let the honey of God's Word and love drip from our hearts and mouths. Yes, I know that at times Jesus had to speak the truth in a way that may have cut into the hard hearts of His listeners. I am an 80-year-old who grew up in a Christian home (no TV, movies, only old-time gospel songs) but as a young adult I broke away from that for a short time. He gently continued to work with me as I listened to good preaching, read Scripture, good books by old time preachers (my grandfather was a Baptist preacher and many of my books are from his library.) I am thankfully back to that precious place in the shadow of the wings of my Lord's protection because of His Word of truth. I also had four children, lived in the country with a garden and kept our family of six fed with its produce and meat often supplied by hubby's hunts. I still found time to roll out of bed at 5am onto my knees for the Lord's guidance for the day and a time of reading and prayer, then again at night. Early to bed and early to rise makes one healthy and wise (smile) He gives us the desires of our heart when they are His desires. I served Him in many ways at home and church (yes, I taught Bible too). That was my joy! And now at this age, my ministry is prayer-I talk with Him all day for others that He puts before me to pray (many are pastor friends) I don't normally tell people this, I don't want to or need to, but you don't know me, so it is okay. Please let your "meek and quiet spirit" show through not only by what you say but also just by what you do. I am sure your desire is to reach many people. Keep up His good work and listen to His Spirit within. I pray He will guide you in this. Pray for Israel. And listen for the trumpet! In Christ's love, Martha John 11:5a I have a feeling this won't get a heart response from you but that is okay. I only need it from my dear Savior. :)
Yes 1 year later and a 26 year old mom of 2 young boys loved reading this comment so much that the video Ended and i was reading “80 year old part and video ended I had to go back to find it jsut to finish and hear her story….., precious! Great teaching
I loved reading your reply also. I struggle with time in the morning with the Lord. I've found it's been a very difficult season for me right now. See when I was in my 20's I made an unbelievably foolish decision to marry an unbeliver and no need to say how that'simpactedmy life, and childrens lives. The Lord is very clear on this matter. So i decidedonce i was goingto followJesuswith my whole heart I wouldnot divorceas it'sjust as clear in the Word God hates divorce. So, my life is and has not been easy. As a believer I struggle with living in a home with a husband and adult children who don't know the Lord. I feel the Lord helps and I know He hears my prayers but the consequences from that foolish decision are not withheld and many a tear has been shed. I don't read books on "people's interpretation of the Bible either, because the Bible states clearly that if you ask for wisdom HE will give it also the Word of God is interpreted by the Holy Spirit. I also don't get bogged down by what I don't understand if it's about things that scientists are discussing. Frankly I'm Going to believe GOD not man! I don't care what people in the churches think, I believe every word in the Bible is true and yes I use the King James version. For anyone who admits their is a God, I'll say if the Creator of the Universe is able to create intricate, designs and details in this world you don't think He is able to keep His word intact?? Yup that's how I deal with questions. I struggle sometimes with being gentle because I'm constantly being told I believe a lie but I'm willing with all my heart to die for that "lie" because Jesus is truth, peace love and can't imagine how horrible life is for those who don't have a father to go to for help. Sorry for the rambling here but so encouraged by your video and your response ma'am (80 yr old) may the Lord God bless you both 🙏.
The “cheapening Jesus” and unBiblical popular worship music is where I’m at. I used to have the radio on in my car all the time, tuned to the local Christian station, but now I can’t stomach it. The worship leader at my church this past Sunday said it best when he explained why we were singing more hymns lately… the writers back then weren’t composing songs to win Dove Awards.
Plus I also believe the gospel should be free no matter how it’s presented, song or preaching. I’m not paying a fortune to listen to singers who are getting rich from whatever they are doing. I guess that’s why I’ve always preferred to hear local singers than professionals.
Ok….I’m going to get some haters here lol. First-LOVED the video! Thank you. ❤. The show the Chosen brought me back to Bible reading and Jesus. I don’t watch it for Biblical lessons I first watched it and I loved it honestly. I started reading my Bible and so did my kids. My daughter connected with the woman at the well. She started crying when the woman said others reject her. She said that was her. She was being brutally bullied at school (which we pulled her out of) and ever since then she’s made connections she’s never before. We now read the Scriptures, talk about them, apply them and we have turned from so many things we did in the past because we see the light. The Chosen brought me back to Jesus and I don’t rely on them for that. I now enjoy reading the Bible, going to church and am in a small group now. We even all got baptized because Chosen was the kickoff we needed to get back. Again…let me reiterate…im not saying the Chosen is my go to a Bible lessons. Im saying it got me back on track and for that I will me grateful to them. Ok said my piece Lolol. God bless everyone
I think Justin Peters does a great job breaking this down- th-cam.com/video/8kolwKnYQxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mWfMgzIPqR3Hd7UL Scripture is sufficient- the emotional deception used in this show is incredibly misleading. 🙏🏼❤️
In John 4 The woman at the well, she went to draw water with her pot,and Jesus went to drink and hear a confession.Read the chapter again and they both walk away spiritually.
I love the Chosen and I am a 40 year devout Christian. I see such beauty in seeing the compassion in stories I have read hundreds of times. It is a gift.
I think anything that brings you closer to God and Jesus is a good thing. You don’t have a hater here. God made us with the ability to decipher fact from fiction. If fiction gets you started then I believe the Holy Spirit may have brought you to it. ❤
I think that we should keep in mind that the Chosen is not meant to be anything but historical fiction to help make the Word come alive. If I remember correctly, at the beginning of the series they encouraged people to read the Bible for themselves.
I am doing the same. When you see the light, the gate becomes narrower. Unfortunately, not many Christians are ready to give up worldly stuff. We are all so caught up in it. Thanks for this info, it really confirms true Christians should look like. It's very hard. Im just waiting for the Lord now...the world is getting worst.
I lament this all the time among my spiritual brothers and sisters. They have literally stated, Come, Lord Jesus, just not today!” How grievous! They are more looking forward to their baseball playoffs, super bowls, Disney trip, weddings, etc. Let’s enjoy today for it is what the Lord has given us. We are not promised tomorrow but His glorious appearing!
@@karenneri2976that is helpful context. Thank you for sharing something we may not have considered. Bless your heart. You, like Christ, don’t want anyone to perish ❤
I too agree... Especially with Christian music! Sad, but so true. I ministered for 10 years with the heritage singers, a gospel group who has sang for 51 years. Christian music has changed so much! Glad I found you, my first time watching! Yes, let's be friends ❤
So very often I read comments about "unBiblical popular worship". Hmmmm......"Un-Biblical....really?? Did Paul, Peter and the Apostles of the Early Church (AD 33-AD 600) use pipe organs? Liturgy? The Mass? Did they have hymn books with hymns from Wesley, Luther et al? Or did they worship in the same basic format as the Jews worshipped? Where in your Bible does it specifically prescribe exactly HOW to worship our God? As long as God is the focus of our worship and we give thanks and praise and partake of His holy sacraments of baptism and the Eucharist, God will accept worship. And do the missionaries to Africa or Kazakhstan use the same music, worship styles and even language as a parish in Mayville, Wisconsin or Leipzig, Germany???? I think not and for good and Godly reasons. Please cease and desist from dividing the Body of Christ's church on earth with silly, secular and personal desires of the adiaphora of Christian doctrine and practice. It's un-Holy and unbecoming of God's people.
@@craigborgardt6396 'When you pray, do not pray as the Gentiles do, heaping up empty phrase upon empty phrase, thinking they will be heard for their many words'. Sounds like a Jewish mother's advice, no?
Those that worship God must Worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. David played a harp, and danced (not at the same time) . They played timbrels, they blew shofars. If you want to see a Biblical format for worship read the book of Psalms. Study the Jewish worship, and dance. Pray for freedom in the Spirit to express yourself to God in private and public. God inhabits the praises of His people. 🎉
@@allaboutmycats454 , what bothers me is Christians frowning on the use of drums or other percussion in worship. I have attended churches where rhythm was de-emphasized, and songs were slowed down. Scripture mentions such instruments used to praise God. I think it can actually enhance a song and a worship session - when it is used a part rather than a focus.
This is personal time with the Lord…I am a morning person…if I sat down at 7:00 Pm I would fall asleep. We come giving our best to Him..yours is evening…mine is morning…others mid day…our best is what matters..❤
@@lindaprout542 Agreed! Life is too hectic in the evenings! Mornings, with a hot cup of coffee, and a quiet house, is my perfect time! It was funny that Heidi was so judgmental against a morning practice; not everyone does an evening one. Let people live. Being in the Word is more important and should be celebrated, regardless of how it looks!
@@IAmTheZombieGirlI don’t think she’s being judgmental about it. She said to do whatever works best for you in your current season. She didn’t speak negatively about people who do their Bible study early in the morning. She just said that it’s not required to do it in the morning as opposed to the evening, as a lot of Christian culture seems to push the idea that it’s “better” to do it in the morning (I’ve seen this idea pushed by Christian influencers regularly). She’s saying it’s all about whatever works best for you. I do mine at night now but when I was in college I was up early for class so I would do it before class.
Amen- I wish that's what those big name "ministries" were putting out. Unfortunately, the more we can learn about Bethel/Jesus Culture, Hillsong & Elevation we see that is NOT the case. 🙏🏼
@@HeavenlyMindedHome We shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. There are some very Biblical Christian singers. Yes, Bethel, Hillsong, Elevation, etc. don't have theologically correct songs, but I don't listen to them.
I got lost in Christian music for years and neglected prayer, small group, bible study and journaling. I AGREE with you wholeheartedly music is no substitute for the latter.
To have a relationship with God, all you'll need to do is read and study His word, pray and attend a true, bible believing ministry to worship amongst other believers. A person can worship God right inside their own home any time (with or without music) because, God is everywhere.
You must always be cautious about what you choose as “entertainment.” However, I have seen the Chosen lead more people to open the Bible and start reading Scripture than any television program I have ever encountered. The key, as you mention, is the fruit.
I love the way the Chosen sets the scene. The purpose of the Chosen is not doctrinal lecture. It’s to open eyes and heart’s to Christ. I’m not of your religion. Your emphasis on doctrinal perfection has flaws. It alienates others who worship the Savior, often the Bible is not interpreted correctly which means your doctrine is flawed and it emphasizes facts and systems over people and divine love. Most Christian music, art and movies are seeking to please God. It is unpleasing to Him for you to be their judge and jury. I have learned to glean the good and learn from the misrepresentations. And I agree about the blatant commercialization of “Jesus”. The use of just Jesus is to informal and does not recognize the majesty of His existence. Jesus Christ, Savior, Lord, Jehovah, and Messiah, show reverence and respect.
The “secret” to coming out of “Christian Culture” is to meet with the Holy Spirit, daily. Asking the Holy Spirit to speak directly to you is creating that personal relationship with God; this is how we draw nearer to the Lord. God created us individually; uniquely His. What works for one isn’t necessarily right for another. I thank God for walking with me, daily, and allowing me to honor whom He created me to be✨✨✨
I have noticed this, too. I feel much closer to God when I just follow the Holy Spirit. I get confused by all the different messages and interpretations of the Bible promoted by other Christians and Christian culture. It makes a lot more sense to me when I just follow the Holy Spirit and trust Him to teach me because then I don’t have to unlearn all the incorrect stuff Christian culture promotes.
@@EM-lz5ofsomebody in that Christian culture is correct. It depends on where you're looking and what you're dismissing. You may be listening to YOUR version of the holy Spirit where HIS voice is totally different. Very easy to do when you see the church as an invisible body of believers with conflicting messages. God is a God of order. There is ONE church. He established it and gave explicit instructions to the apostles. Do you really think God would say"well, that's it, folks. I'm going now. Good luck in finding your way to me and finding a good place to worship." No. It was established in 33 AD. It was ONE, it was HOLY, it was CATHOLIC (meaning universal for all people, cultures through the ages) and it was APOSTOLIC, (meaning it was handed down, continued and meant to continue until his return). Read the early Church fathers and how they worshiped. If you want the original, the organic church, you'll find it there .
Exactly. If you listen, the Holy Spirit will speak louder than Christian or secular culture. I enjoyed the Chosen, not because it's perfect, but because I know God had a purpose in allowing this thing to draw people's thoughts back to himself. Sometimes I get up early to pray. Sometimes in the middle of the night. Follow Him. He's the Lord.
I can’t say thank you enough for this !!!! I always felt not “Christian enough” for not doing these things. Now I know it’s the Holy Spirit keeping me from these things, just cause they mostly not biblical
I’m with you for your first four points. And I get what you’re saying for your fifth point, but I don’t totally agree. I say this as the mom of a teenage daughter who is already getting national recognition as a singer and regional recognition as an actress. She’s simply highly gifted from God. She knows this is her calling, yet where is she to work, if Christians abandon Christian entertainment? She doesn’t want to risk working with secular places, given the corruption. Likewise, we have friends whose teenage daughter wrote a musical based on the gospel of Matthew. After recording a soundtrack, it came to the notice of a couple of big guns on Broadway who were looking for something wholesome. So it was workshopped on Broadway last year, and then did a regional run this past summer (cut short because of the heat and their climate control failure at the venue). They are solid Christians, and the musical is scriptural-yet they had a lot of comments from the Christian community who assumed that because it had big Broadway names associated with it, it must be unscriptural! I would say not to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but to be selective about what you put your money behind. The popularity of Christian films has gotten the attention of Hollywood, and we are starting to see more wholesome things (at least wholesome and not the usual horrible Hollywood offerings). It’s truly a cultural war. If my daughter abandons these gifts, which are truly great-her vocal coach won The Voice-what is she supposed to do? Go with her next-best, which she might possibly be able to be competitive enough with to make some money with, all while ignoring the thing she can’t quit doing, even in her sleep? My husband and I have now been part of four different Christian youth theatres. We have so very many kids and young adults come to us so very grateful that there are opportunities for them to use their gifts in a way that honors God, instead of participating in the cultural awfulness being offered by other places in the area. It’s not a big deal if a kid is talented in baseball, because there are church leagues all over the place. But it’s a whole other thing if your kid has performing arts talents. The secular performing arts world is largely a cesspool. If we want to make opportunities for youth and adults whom God has gifted this way, we need to start making more islands in the swamp.
My son is writing a novel series, a good friend owns a Hollywood production company and our son would love to write screenplays. Sure- we use our gifts! But to just take Christ and water him down for entertainment? Hard pass. To use our gifts to share great stories and encourage? Sure. Big difference between the two! :)
I believe she said something about for the "sake of entertainment," and in her reply to you, did she not type something about "watering down the gospel"?
@@meomy29 I've never heard that either! Jesus is One with the Father, but He is our Saviour and brother. Eash figure of God is distinct with separate attributes, positions, and relationships to us as Christians.
You were making me nervous with that tea at the beginning, I thought for sure it was going to spill onto your hand! You made some great points, keep up the good work!
It is ABSOLUTELY refreshing to watch your videos and hear you speak TRUTH!!! Six years ago my husband and I went through a much needed transformation in our walk with God. We were on the praise and worship team in a very charismatic church that chose verses here and there to help them give a feel good motivational "sermon", and through continued reading of the Word we discovered more and more truth of what God was really telling us. We are now reformed and enjoy expository sermons, biblical hymns through corporate worship, and none of that gimmicky "cheap Jesus" way of thinking. Looking back, it was the picture of a "lukewarm" christian trying to fit into an accepting hip church scene that allowed many to straddle the fence of being a Christian on Sunday and partaking of worldly things the rest of the week. Thank you thank you thank you for your amazing content .
I love the fact that you mentioned "Christian" yoga. Yoga is a Hindu religious practice. The poses are actually submission poses to Hindu gods. We can't just slap a "Christian" label on something and that label will make it okay. We wouldn't think "Christian" prostitution was okay, or that "Christian" pornography were a thing, for example. Same goes for all the New Age trash making its way into the church. New Age is nothing but witchcraft lite but people today are generally so biblically illiterate that they can't see it.
@@HeavenlyMindedHomeGod is in the business of redeeming people. Not places or practices. If more emotional women understood this the better off the Christian church would be.
Thank you for your videos! Some of us choose to study the Word at 5am because we have secular jobs and that is the only time we can spend time in the Word quietly before going to work with other people, mostly non-Christians, NOT because everyone else says you are more holy if you do this. We need to start listening more to the Holy Spirit inside of us all and do what He guides us to do, not look at everyone else and decide this is what we should be (or should not be) doing.
I REALLY enjoy your channel. I am in complete agreement with your non-compromising stance of what it means to be a Christian. Even though I am a 68 year old Christian woman who has been a Christian since 1977, I still and will always welcome an opportunity to have the Lord reset me, my priorities, and keep me on the straight and narrow path of life. I feel like I have found my true sisters in Christ on this channel. Thank you for providing wholesome and wise wisdom for such a time as this. May we all continue to hold fast to what is true and to the Lord Jesus Christ.
I feel somewhat the same as this video is one of only a few that I’ve watched of hers, but immediately I knew she is “my people” & so your comment resonated with me. I think, based on your comment & others, that I’ll find many more on here that I can connect with as I tune in to her channel more. God bless!
This is so good! I have been praying to God to lead me to women who are seeking a deeper relationship with the Lord, and it is soooooo hard! I too have come to this conclusion, to not partake into many “Christian” things. I would add -Devotions- the Lord put it in my heart to stay away from all of that too. But rather, to spend time reading the Word and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to me directly. We too do not do any secular or ‘Christian” celebrations. And the women around me are confused about it. I have been called weird, too religious among other things. My walk with the Lord has isolated me, but I rather have that, than have superficial relationships, where I do not get edification, and I am the only one edifying. I found this channel 2 weeks ago, after I ask the Lord where my sisters in Christ were, who really seek him, the next day I came across this channel, and it’s been a blessing to know, that there are in deed a remnant of sisters who the Lord is leading into deeper things. May the Lord continue to give you boldness to speak truth and share where God wants his daughters to be spiritually.
Hi! This is the first video of yours I have ever seen. You are pleasant to watch. I agree with some of the comments on here regarding the WAY you say the things you say. A great example of someone who says hard things in a loving way is pastor Jeff McCullough who is a Christian pastor with a TH-cam channel where he says that he's on a quest to learn everything he can about Mormons and help Mormons better understand traditional Christians. Talk about a tense ministry he has! His channel is followed by lots of Mormons who are very skeptical of his intentions and who have been hurt by unkind and insensitive Christians in the past. He is VERY clear on what he believes, he does NOT affirm what the Mormons believe, and he points out sound biblical teaching regardless of how much it goes against what they believe. However, he has a huge following of Mormons who, despite disagreeing with him, LOVE the way he treats them. I think he is someone we can ALL learn from in that way. I bring this up because I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with 99.9% of what you said in this video and found it VERY refreshing to hear you say it. However, as you said it, I found myself, at many points, hearing your tone, watching your face, and listening to some of your word choices and concluding to myself that there was a condescending attitude laced into it all, that I did not feel needed to be there. I am ALL FOR, 100%, saying it like it is and not pulling any punches - at all! However, the skill it takes to be able to do exactly that, in a Christ-like way, takes practice and, though I think you are on the right track, there may be a need for a bit more reflection and practice to hone it in a bit better. I will throw out one difference of opinion with something you said: I agree with you on SO much of the Christian media out there today. Lots of snakes in the grass and I bet some of the media creators themselves don't even realize it. However, I disagree with your view of the TV show you mentioned: The Chosen. Given the fact that they do not explicitly teach from scripture to carefully send it out to their audience, they do not portray scripture word for word and they take LOTS of liberties with what they think could have been plausible, between the lines of scripture, I would have the exact same opinion that you do about the show - *IF* - it wasn't for the following: They have said from the beginning that they are not there to teach, they are not a replacement for the bible, they are creating the show for entertainment purposes, they have never hidden the fact that they take creative liberties and they do what they do in order to "wonder" what it might have been like to really BE there as the gospels were being played out and express that in a way that would hopefully cause people to get out their bibles and really study scripture for themselves. They flat-out admit to and broadcast the fact that they are NOT there to be a doctrinally sound church service that anyone should base their faith on. Their first episode even starts with such announcements - right off the bat. I have seen many people find themselves in a place, after watching that show, where they are willing to even consider Jesus, where they previously would not have. One of the most popular comment types is that of finding the show, having it inspire them to actually study the bible, and either finding a relationship with Jesus from reading their Bible or becoming much closer to Him because they were actually taking the time to really study their bible for the first time - all because of the show. There has to be room, left in this world, for people to be responsible for their own discernment. Now listen, I wholeheartedly agree with you on Bethel and the Enneagram and much of that crap - it is just that: crap. I would caution people away from that stuff as well. However, The Chosen does not twist or change the scripture itself - it merely MUSES about what things might have been like between the lines of scripture and then ENCOURAGES people to go really dig into the word and study it for themselves. That seems pretty up-front, honest, and helpful to me. However, given much of what I know about the show, I can absolutely understand why you would not want your family to partake in watching the show and that is a great decision for you to make if you feel that's what's best for you and your family, so long as you are (which it seems you are) always seeking what's best for them from the mouth of the Lord. I will also take this moment to point out that, this being text instead of live spoken word, with no inflections or body language, there may be a chance you feel I have spoken less than kindly here and, if so, please accept my sincerest apology for failing to put together words that you would feel loved through. I promise, if I could say them face to face, you wouldn't feel that way. But I will tell you that I will be subscribing to your channel because I agree with your worldview and opinions so far, for the most part, and think you are genuinely trying to give glory to God in what you do, with your heart in the right place, as far as I can tell. So, carry on, sister. I pray God uses this comment to bless you rather than anything else.
Thank you for what you commented regarding "The Chosen" series & how MILLIONS have started searching/learning about Jesus since it started. It prompts me to re-read Scriptures that I've read a zillion times, & I now see things in Scripture that I never saw before. 🌺
She's not harsh. Look at what you wrote. Chosen, so why entertaining. Scripture is for life not entertaining...waste of time to portray Jesus as entertaining I say No...stick to Truth!
Thank you for presenting your thoughts. Delighted to hear respectful difference of opinion. I also watched some of the Chosen and it led me back to Jesus and reading the Bible. I will continue watching this channel and hope to hear what others are doing to live in Faith.
@@lindawaxman570 I agree with you. SCRIPTURE is for life. This is a TV show. May I gently and respectfully just ask you to ponder something real quick? Ever been to a Children's performance of the Christmas story on stage at your church or at a school before, where they use lights, music and sound effects and now and then the kids forget or mix up their lines? Ever listened to a narrator read scriptures to you with voices, sound effects and music to help paint the picture in your mind? Ever read a book to a child that took the words of the main stories in the bible and summarized them in to short little paragraphs that would fit into the brightly-colored, illustrated pages? I would just pose a thought to you that perhaps it is not wrong to portray God's word in these ways. Humans tell stories. That's what we do. It's how we understand things. It's how we relate to each other. If you take the time to really watch The Chosen and then go to the places in the Word where they have pulled from to make each episode, I wager you may find that all they have done is effectively bring to life the message of the gospel with "lights, music, sound and engaging images" just like those beautiful and cherished children, talented narrator and faith-building book have done. I totally understand your heart and the propensity to be protective and defensive of God's Word. Good for you! Right on! But, may I just suggest, taking a breath and really pondering a few of these things and just see where you come out after a bit of an open mind. If you still feel the same way then I totally understand. But let's at least give it some thought. Thank you for your time.
I have been doing a deep dive into the bible over the last couple of years and have grown so much. I feel so much closer to God. Thank you for this video. It espouses a lot of things that I have had issues with.
I miss the old days when the whole congregation was allowed to sing hymns and lift up their own voices to worship the Lord. When families sat together instead of dropping off their kids with unvetted volunteers, teaching who really knows what to our kids. When churches still auto invited whole families to all the church activities. Within many churches, it's like the cultural attacks on family has already successfully separated families, at least while they are at church.
There are still churches that sing hymns only and families all sit together. There are no services for the children during the sermon. My family goes to an excellent solid biblical church that does those things. They are truly rare in our time.
I am grateful for kids church that way they can still learn (4 and 3) and I can enjoy church too. If they didn't have that service I wouldn't be able to attend because of my son being disabled, he would not be able to handle it. Also, they are definitely vetted! If you like that kind of church then go there, but don't hate on other churches. Didn't realize the community on her videos was so hateful.
@@angelharmon20.21 It is inaccurate and illogical to accuse someone of being hateful all because they have different preferences than you. Nobody hates you for making the church-style choice that you made. So why jump to that conclusion? Is your slander an attempt to dominate and control what everyone else does? Are you trying to be an influencer, or just force everyone to like everything you like? If not, then why bother to care if others like something different than you? People are allowed to miss old-fashioned services and old-fashioned values if they want to. Why ridicule them and victimize yourself over that? They aren’t the ones hurting anyone. All of America is reeling right now because of the void where good old-fashioned Christian values used to be. Seriously, don’t you wish “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” was still a thing? The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom, and nobody else’s opinions matter. Thank God, and all the men who died to give America the Freedom of Worship.
@@lillianharnden8323 no, the whole tone of your comment was disrespectful. Then you try to insult me by calling me ignorant. I am not bitter there’s by your preferences, I couldn’t care less. It was the way you worded it. Reread what you said. You made it sound like other types of churches were not allowing “proper worship” and destroying families. THAT is ignorant and hateful. Period.
I agree 100%. Another thing I see in the church is over rages men and women who feel they have to be involved in every activity in the church and if you’re not, then you are less than them.
@@HeavenlyMindedHomeYES! It drives me nuts. We have been looking to start a small group and kept getting told, “the women’s group meets Wednesday night and the men’s on Tuesday,” and that bugs me. My husband and I like to do it together.
Omgawd... thisssss 😅. You meet a lady and they are like Um, I do this and that in the church. I am like, ohhh, I am so impressed. More, like I feel sorry for them because that is how they are getting their worth and identity and self esteem. I will just scurry back to my lowly back seat in the church where I belong.
I agree that no one should flaunt their giving, whether of money, talent, or time. However, some people love to help and participate. Church should offer many opportunities for fellowship, service, and education, and people should be encouraged to participate in whatever way or amount they are able & feel led by God.
WOW! You speak my language. I have never been one to go a long to get a long. Cannot join hands with the church culture and many think I am to hard but if it is not in the SCRIPTURES I will stay away from it. Thanks for speaking truth!
Thank you for this sister. My wife passed the link onto me, but she is a little afraid to share openly on her timeline, such is the state of the Church in majority Australia, yet I'll encourage her to share your words among her friends. The gate is indeed narrow... Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
We truly do have a small remnant in our country. Pray for those rare churches that still preach an uncompromising message and sing hymns and psalms instead of CCM 🙏
Thankfully we are now part of a local congregation as you described, with faithful preaching and hymns/psalms. Only took us 18 years of marriage and re-locating interstate, all of it with God's faithfulness towards us.@@ShadowNymph2010
Thank you so much for making this video, I can relate with you, I wake up at 5:00 never less I read the Bible with my 4 kids in the evening, and I find it easy listening to sermons or books by Charles Spurgeon while I'm preparing my kids for school.
I'm 75 retired Vietnam vet and saved 55 years. Somehow I've managed to avoid the same things without really thinking about it. I usually have my devotions late morning. I read 3 chapters. OT, Wisdom and NT. I either recite or sing one of the hymns from the Trinity hymnal. Then I spend time in prayer mostly praying for the folks I've met.
Thank you s much for posting this and God's timing. My church is watching The Chosen, and doing their discussion (called a Bible study, but very little Bible.) Each week I feel more and more of an "Ick factor" watching it, but I keep going, hoping it will get better...that we will discuss the real Bible v The Chosen...my husband and I have great convos on the drive home about how off the episode was...but I truly feel God is nudging me to speak up (in love) and stop going. Thanks again! (PS I'd love to see more videos about Bible study, discernment, growth, etc)
I think your analogy is spot on. As far as the first one…When you’re new in learning scriptures, you tend to be very driven, wanting to take it all in all the time. There’s so much to learn, after all. In time things become familiar and you recognize the scriptures. It can take years if not a lifetime … and we all need to return to the Bible for strength, encouragement or numerous other reasons. How people choose to go about it is up to them. If you want to use 100 highlighters to help you remember or focus: 👍👍👍. The point is doing it. Whether it be in the morning, in the evening with highlighters or none. ❤❤
I definitely don’t wake up at 5am to spend time with the Lord but I have shifted from designated afternoon/evening time to spend time in the first part of my day because I have found that I’m much more able to hear when my mind is less cluttered in the morning hours
Yes Heidi I would love some videos of how to dig deeper into the Bible. i am so with you as a Christian woman I don't do these things in my life or in my home!
One thing I use is Bible Hub, a free app similar to Logos, although it doesn't have all of the same tools. I love using the Interlinear Bible in the app to look up the words and word choice because often times our understanding of verses has been colored by how they were translated. It will provide dictionary info, concordance references, and explanations of how it is being used grammatically etc. Hope this helps 🧡
I do watch The Chosen. I don’t watch it for sound doctrine. I don’t expect it to be totally accurate. And I don’t watch it to “get on the bandwagon “ of Christian culture. But what it provides is a stimulant to my imagination and helps me to add “flesh” to my knowledge of scripture. It makes me more excited to dig into scripture and meditate on Jesus the man. And if it awakens people to be more interested in Jesus then praise God. Otherwise I mostly agree with you but we shouldn’t be dogmatic one way or the other.
Agree! The creator of the chosen literally uses the the biblical texts and the culture of the time to bring to life Jesus and his disciples. It’s completely opposite of what this person described in her video. It’s a great tool to help understand what Jesus and his disciples were going through at the time. Some of the worship music described is actually biblically sound as well. Even Jesus asked if they’re for me how can they be against me when his disciples questioned outside follower’s actions. If it doesn’t sit well in your soul and how you’re forming your personal relationship with God it doesn’t inherently make it blasphemous or unbiblical. I grew up SB and have fought with this my whole adult relationship with God. The SB culture is very judgmental of other denominations and ways of presenting the gospel.
I love watching shows like NCIS, Bones, and other murder mystery shows, but after seeing show after show with people who are not married sleeping together, and making it look like a normal activity, I decided I was done watching those types of shows. I understand that others may not agree with me, but that is where I am at this time.
And the increasing violence, horror, murder and hatred portrayed in NCIS, Bones, Game of Thrones, etc , really hurts your mind and spirit, and can make you numb to evil. Don't accept it. God led me to stop watching violent, increasingly immoral shows. My life is better, I have more time to enjoy the Presence of God, more time to study, paint, write encouraging cards to others and have a clean heart. No substitute for that! 🙏🏼❤️✝️
💯📖✝️🥳 I'm so glad you said this. I've had the same thoughts, and when I warn someone about dangerous authors, singers, trends, they paint me as a judgy grinch. But that's not it at all - it's using discernment. I do listen to some music with solid lyrics true to the Bible, but it's mostly the older stuff. Also not a morning person. I pray when I first get up and listen to a sermon on my mobile as I go through morning tasks. But I'm not nearly alert enough to do the Bible study, journal, and longer worship & prayer time. I do that just before bedtime when I'm more able to focus and don't have other tasks to interrupt me or cut my time short. 🙏😇
Yes I do get my Bible Study in @ 5am due to my work and life schedule...I have always been the person to automatically get up at 4:30am - it's just my own circadian rhythm... If I tried it in the evening, I'd fall asleep (Speaking from my own experience. 😉) As far as my in depth Bible Study...I go straight to the Bible which happens to be an NIV Study Bible Version... I'm presently doing a deep dive into Revelation... verse by verse and reading the corresponding passages in the sidebar as well as the in-depth notes at the bottom. This allows me to personally take a very focused & detailed approach to what I'm reading and understanding it for what it actually says. Also, I don't just read it. I type it all out on my computer chapter by chapter with all the detailed notes with the corresponding verses. For me this process keeps me focused on God, Jesus & The Holy Spirit throughout my day as I remember what I studied in the morning. This is my personal experience as we all have our own journey and life circumstances. 😊🙏
Alleluiah! Thank you for this. I was recently saved out of New Age, had no idea how deep in the trenches I was in it but been sharing my testimony because everyone needs to know how dangerous it is!! Thank you for sharing this. I hear you on so many rules and it's about us building a relationship with God and do it in the way that works for you.
One of the huge reasons I watch The Chosen is bc of my unbelieving husband. They do bring up scripture, but most of the storyline is made up, and the fact that my husband gets to hear about the gospel and sits through it is a miracle. One TH-camr has said (concerning the chosen) that they got into eating avocados by trying guacamole. They were comparing guacamole to being like The Chosen.
The creators have said out right that the Chosen is not a ministry, but I love the painstaking work that has went into researching the history of that time as it's never been portrayed before. Also the scholars of different religions that give their history of what was going on at the time. Very thankful your husband is watching it with you, it's a great place to start a conversation, even if the conversation starts with, you know the Bible didn't say he did this or that. Blessings
I love The Chosen. No i don’t think it should replace reading the bible, but I’ve found it quite helpful with understanding some of the history and culture.
Many people have come to a saving knowledge of Christ through the Chosen and many people have started digging deep into studying scripture because it’s made them realize they can read and learn from it on their own. Milk and meat are mentioned in scripture because there is a time for both in the believers life. Thanking the Lord for His grace and mercy and that if people don’t speak about Him, even the rocks will cry out.
I think Justin Peters does a great job breaking this down- th-cam.com/video/8kolwKnYQxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mWfMgzIPqR3Hd7UL Scripture is sufficient- the emotional deception used in this show is incredibly misleading.
Yeah, I was clarifying or correcting things in the show that my husband was like “can I just watch the show lol?” It’s not perfect, it’s entertainment and I made sure to highlight the things the show got right once in a while, drove him nuts 😆
Hah! Your #1 cracked me up. When I adopted a strict keto lifestyle (and lost 100lbs😊), I started waking up at 5am without an alarm with so much energy and I LOVE my 5am quiet time with Jesus! Works for me. I call it my Bible & Beans 📖☕️🤍
@@HeavenlyMindedHome just recently discovered your channel and enjoy your content. Also, the “Jesus is my buddy” stuff bothers me too. Jesus is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!
Thank you! The 5AM Bible study thing has killed me for years because it just doesn't work for me. I still read my Bible, but I am not a morning person.
You can read, study the word of God and pray any time throughout the day and night, it doesn't matter because He's with us 24/7. There is no right or wrong time to spend with God.
I do agree with many points you have here! I am a 4 am bible study person, however. It is a quiet time when no one interrupts me and I feel more focused then. I do ready some Christian authors and agree, not all Christian authors are biblically sound!! Thanks so much!!
This is the type of video that needs to be remade every so often so that it stays in our minds. Great points throughout, especially the the buddy Jesus type of thing and the fake Christian entertainment. They are all purposefully incorrect. Excellent video.
I agree that you have to test what you hear for scriptural truth in the Word. I too enjoyed "The Chosen" as a nudge to read the scriptures and gain better understanding. Now about music, When I listen to Christian music, I listen to songs for the words in the song.. not who is singing it, who they are in life, how they live their life etc.. if it moves the Spirit in me and prompts praise and worship from my heart, then that's all I need to know about the song. God can bless and anoint songs from many artists. Some artists that started out as christian singers and later turned to other genres, were given that gift and anointing by God and then got bitten by the greed and selfish lust of fame and fortune. To me, it's not for me to judge what or how they live their life etc.. as long as the song is not stating false claims about the Lord or His Word, that is not blasphemy. You can't stereotype all of the contemporary songs/artists in a lump just like you can't stereotype one race of people as a whole. God is the only One who has the right to judge any of us or anything. I enjoy your videos and glean a lot from them. But just like eating pie, if you come across a seed, you spit out the seed not the whole pie. So yes, your teachings hold a lot of truth and good information about Godly living, but your beliefs don't encompass absolutely every right thing that God has inserted for our lives because we all are on an individual walk and have a personal relationship with God. I haven't heard ,so far, in the videos I've listened to, about you or your church family on the subject of speaking in tongues. Praying in the Spirit is what that is and it is the most beautiful sacred form of praying that is a conversation between you and God that satan cannot understand. A lot of people shy away from that because they don't understand it or it has never happened to them so they don't believe it and call those that do, Jesus freaks, or holy rollers. The Holy Spirit is what convicts you to live Christ like,, sometimes it isn't so much that you teach someone how to live like Him.. His Spirit will lead you when you are born again and read His Word, pray and obey what He says in His Word. God bless you and may the rest of your week be the best of your week.
Yes, I agree about the music. I've only ever listened to the words, and a lot of it moves the Spirit in me and prompts me to worship and praise God all the more. Some people are great at praising Him in prayer, some are better at it with music. There are a couple songs I've heard recently that took some versus from Psalms and just put the words to music. And I love it!!❤ God bless.
You nailed it! Especially on the Christian entertainment. I’m glad I’m not alone. It took me so long to come out of some of the false doctrine I was in for 25 plus years. That doesn’t count my childhood and teens with a different type of false doctrine. I’m so glad I’m not alone in how I feel about this!
Steven Curtis Chapman wrote a song way back in his younger years about all the Christianese things we do...like all the statues or welcome mats, or refrigerator magnets or wall hangings with Bible verses on them...Jesus t-shirts, bracelets with WWJD. Chapman asks in his song "what about the change? What about the difference? What about the grace? What about forgiveness? Are you living the life that shows YOU are under-going the 'Change'?
You are absolutely right. My former church glorified married couples, and I have been divorced. I still love God. Thank you for your list. (I have never watched one episode of The Chosen, and I don't intend to.)
This was highly convicting and came in a needed season. Thank you Also yes and 5am bible study. Finally lighting a candle and doing my study at night. Gives me a peak to end my day
AMEN!!!! I absolutely agree with these things, and the Lord has brought my husband and I to truth about these things as well. "Narrow is the way...there are few who find it." Matt. 7:14
As a christian I still trust in Jesus and keep faith even though I’m constantly faced with hardships. I believe in God's promise trusting in his faithfulness, and relying on him. But at times it can be difficult. Especially as a single mother and having two children with autism. I’m overwhelmed. My husband passed away unexpectedly, I’m all alone. Lord give me strength as I struggle to support my children. But even as I struggle to pay rent and I struggle to buy groceries for my kids. I KEEP FAITH in you LORD JESUS. I’m so overwhelmed and discouraged. I’m so tired Lord! Please keep me encouraged because I want to give up.

It's such a blessing and a privilege to have that one on one time with our precious HEAVENLY FATHER through our precious LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, all GLORY TO GOD! It's amazing we can come to HIM before HIS throne of grace with prayers of thanksgiving, petition, intercession, gratitude, worship, and praises through JESUS!! ❤🕊 it's very important to have that one on one devotional time with GOD, no distractions, quiet alone time with HIM, through prayer, worship through the power of HIS HOLY PRECIOUS SPIRIT, leading us and guiding us to all truth... morning, afternoon, or evening.. and through out the day, praying on our way to work, working out, cooking dinner, talking to HIM, thanking HIM, praising HIM, Worshiping HIM.. 🕊✨️ I love listening to worship music that is BIBLICAL, when it's about scriptures.. songs that are LIFTING UP THE LORD, EXALTING HIS HOLY PRECIOUS NAME, THANKING HIM, GLORIFYING HIM, GIVING HIM ALL THE HONOR AND GLORY, nothing about me.. Sabbaths are the 7th day. The Lord said "everlasting" i wonder who decided to change it to the day of Sunday (oh wait that was the pope) aligning all the pagan sun worshipping, never understood why the churches don't observe the Sabbaths as Jesus didn't change it in the Bible nowhere in the Bible does it say Sunday is observed?? So man again in his wisdom is changing what God said, hmm that reminds me of Satan asking eve "Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"
Thank you for number one. I have farm animals also, so I have to get up and feed. Same for me that I would fall asleep if I got up super early to study scripture. I usually read in the evening. But I also listen to sermons while doing chores. But I have felt guilty in the past feeling like I was not putting God first. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Thank you.
How wonderful to hear this! Can we be friends? Haha. What a refreshing thing to hear. Everything you said is exactly what I’ve been seeing for years. I thank many discernment ministries/ blogs for opening my eyes and my own Bible reading. The truth about false teaching needs to get out there. Thank you for being so relatable and approachable. Lots of women on Twitter/internet who are “influencers” come across as being above us less important ones. Thank you and God bless.
I agree with you on these things for the most part! (I do like to read Christian literature from biblically sound teachers) I tried watching the chosen (because everyone in my small group raved about it) I just couldn’t! I found myself cringing so much and then it disturbed me that everytime I prayed or read the words of Jesus I had an image of Jonathan Roumie in my mind…which made me feel so icky! So I cut the cord on that! Love the video! Thank you!
And yes- there are GOOD, solid teachers out there! Read their books, listen to their teachings, support their work! Let’s just not take everything with a ”Christian “ label as solid! ☺️
You have no idea how glad I am to come across your page.. I am a senior now and you have given me hope that that not all people are falling for the new way to be a Christian. So good for me to hear you . We think exactly the same on all that you have said on this and the other video I have heard of yours.. So nice a young women is out their publicly teaching and encouraging others. I also don't watch The Chosen , but I am not sure I have good reason for that. I keep hearing how great it is and how people are growing and understanding Jesus like never before.. I say can't you get that from reading your Bible and talking to Jesus but also I listened to the creator say how he believe God lead him to do this and I think to myself I don't want to not appreciate something that God inspired someone to do. So can I ask you to do a video discussing why you do not watch The Chosen? I would love to know your thoughts and reasoning on why you and your family would not watch it. Thank you for considering my request.
I was the same way about the Chosen...for me, I am seeing people start to believe in that 'new' Jesus and talking about the other characters more than Christ. The trans movement is also behind it, the Creator of it follows that new Jesus/Gospel going around...so it's that sneaky devil thing that looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, but in the long run, isn't a duck :) Sometimes their 'god' is not the same as our God. And you are exactly correct...why isn't the Bible enough?
@@deltadaze6836 oh my gosh,,, I have never heard of the new Jesus... Can you explain to me a little bit about that.. doesn't have to be long; I hate to bother you but I would really love to hear what you mean by the new Jesus. This sounds so concerning to me..Why do what I would call strong Christians not recognize the new Jesus, they love the show..I watched only the first one when it first started and that was that. I found the first show hard to follow and I thought maybe only the first show will be this way as they are trying to set up the characters and then the show will make sense in second show.. but I just determined I just didn't want to trust a show to keep me strong and clear in the knowledge Jesus has given me by reading His word. Same reason I don't run out to buy the next Christian hit book.
@@louonUT Because I'm not close to that new 'truth,' I'm not hundred percent up on it. But my understanding is that the new Jesus/Gospel is not so much on repentance but on accepting others regardless. My sister was strongly stating that Jesus covered it all on the cross and finished salvation for all of us (yep, that part is right)...so every one is going to heaven😳...I said, but every one must believe In Him and choose him. We must make that Choice to follow Him, not just live life as usual. It's that close to Jesus, but not The Word (Jesus), that she follows...for me, so much easier--not confusing--to follow the Bible. My mom spent 1/2 hour exclaiming over the virtuousness of the character of Peter, based on something he said, to which I confusingly asked,"is that in the Bible?" My father has been a pastor my whole life so I was concerned that the show carried so much 'words to live by' for her when it wasn't biblical. I'm happy some people are being reintroduced to God to them, but I found It off putting.
@@deltadaze6836 OK,, I got it now.. and I didn't even have to watch the show -LOL.. I have been coming up against this more often in the last year.. Everyone seems to be going to heaven. All I can think to say sometimes is if that were true why would Jesus need to come , take the suffering that he did . Or Leave us an instruction book if we are all going to heaven with out as much as an acknowledgement of Jesus and what he did on the cross. Honestly it is disturbing to see how many Christians are turning away from the actual scripture and leaning on their own understand of salvation. Well, I guess this is a big topic and we can go on for ever about it.. LOL I love that we are on the same page of staying faithful to God's Word as our authority of how to live. Let's keep being faithful to share His Truth where needed. God Bless you.
Blessings, I just found you on you tube and this was my 1st watch! I truly jumped for absolute joy at what you spoke and stand in total agreement with you. Many times we feel that we are the only ones sitting in church feeling all the things you spoke out. It's all a way of cheapening our Lord and Savior to worldly level rather than being His and rising to become like Him. Thank you!!!!
I don't do fall festivals in our church basement which is really a Halloween party. I don't do trunk or treat. My old church of 27 years had the Easter sign as, Easter egg hunt at 11:00, my new churches sign reads, Christ is risen!
I loved The Chosen. We need to use our discretion when choosing any entertainment. I didn't look to the series for dogmatic teachings and didn't expect any serious discussion of such. What I enjoyed was the "this is what it may have looked like back in the day" texture to it.
If you won't watch The Chosen "to save your lives", how can you give an honest critique of it? There are no non-biblical liberties in it that would steer someone away from the Savior. The opposite,in fact, is true. The portrayal of God, the Son, in human form, is so moving, it draws me and many others to want to know Him more and to love Him more. Our pastor takes the stand against The Chosen, too. I believe he is wrong. BUT, i dont feel the need to tell him so.... I believe TheChosen has come at this perfect time to be a powerful winess to a culture caught up in screens and entertainment. There are so many wonderful Christian movies and lovely Christian music that is worshipful and uplifting. I feel this video was too broad and condemming. There is some entertainment that is not biblically sound, of course, but there are MANY sincere Chrisian entertainers whose purpose is to share Gods goodness and mercy through music and movies. Many of your points were so good and needed to be said, but some were too broad and even came across with a lack of humility and grace for others.
Agree, totally about what you said about the chosen. I have read Jen hatmaker, not recently, but if you come from a legalistic background she really challenges traditional Christianity and that’s a good thing. I didn’t find anything she said in what I read unbiblical. We need to be challenged as Christians so that we don’t get so legalistic that we’re not being loving and welcoming of everyone. The Jesus Movement was born out of the more traditional legalistic church.
Bravo my sister in Christ. Excellent considerations. I tossed my first gift of a Jesus bobblehead. I hear you. I'm going to subscribe and lately I'm on my own biblical journey of what day, God wants to be worshipped on. I'm discovering Saturday is that very day, so I'm leaving Sunday worship to respect what God has called me to do.
As an ex-new ager to Jesus less than 5 years ago I’ve been shocked at the prevalence of the 5 things on your list at our old church that we left about a year ago- especially Bethel influence. They hired a pastor from Bethel School of SupernaturMinistry 😳, play the music & had a woman from Bethel lead the women’s retreat last month😢). Also some of the ladies told me they love doing “Holy” yoga & watching The Chosen. When I went to my First ladies’ Bible study I was l so confused that we weren’t actually studying the Bible but reading a book by Lisa BeIvedere with “scripture” quoted from The Message. 😬 I was the “new kid on the block” so I didn’t feel comfortable saying anything… I was really sad to see so many red flags. I tried to convince myself it was ok because I know there’s no “perfect church” but last fall we started going less & less until we stopped going altogether. Hubs & I were sad because we’d made some good friends there who we don’t see anymore. Sadly I don’t know one Christian in real life who checks the box on avoiding the 5 things you mentioned, which makes me all the more grateful I found your channel!! 😅Thank you LORD! ❤
I sure agree with you sister, it is very hard to find a church teaching proper docterine. We finally found a church we can call home. I would encourage you both to keep on hunting, visit every church that looks like it may be a good fit for you. Maybe 2 or 3 times. Sometimes it takes time to ferret out wrong teaching. Go online and check them out ahead of time, many have sermons on line along with thier statement of faith, who they are associated with ect.. You may see red flags ahead of time. Best of luck to you both.
I totally agree with not partaking in anything on this list!!! Sadly, most things labeled "Christian" in this perishing world are anything but. I was in the new age for years. So much satanic new age teaching is openly embraced by counterfeit Christianity today. The Bible should be our only creed. Many statements of faith listed by nominal churches today are apostate creeds. Jesus has His fan in His hand is sifting the chaff right now.
Keep up the good faith! I literally had thus conversation with my Dad today. Trust me when I say, there truly are Christians out there who don’t engage in these 5 things. It feels so isolating sometimes, but you are so “cheered on my a great cloud of witnesses” who have gone before us ❤
@@kimberlyphifer2391 The great cloud of witnesses to which you refer, is not a crowd of people who are SPECTATORS of our doings here on earth, since they are in heaven and probably unaware of what we do here. They are the witnesses who BEAR TESTIMONY of Christ. And if you back up a few verses, Hebrews 11:39 speaks of the *TESTIMONY* they OBTAINED, rather than the witness they gave. I don't know where the thinking came from that these witnesses have anything to do with observing or witnessing US in our daily lives. They "SURROUND" us only because they are EXAMPLES of FAITHFULNESS for us to follow. 😊😊😊
Yes!!! WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SET APART and jist yesterday there was an ornament exchange gathering at my church😒 This is my 8th year there, I declined as always. I was ignored by most and nobody asks why I don't celebrate they just make a face when they ask if I'm participating in something and I say, "no, I am not." They pretend that all of a sudden they're busy and move on. The book thing I can relate to, my small group LEADER at another church gave me a book by Greg Laurie😢 I am so glad Holy Spirit helped me discern really quick. He showed me Disney, Marvel, DC, etc. God is good!
Remember, everyone is on a different "rung of the ladder" on their climb in Christoanity. Some of the things mentioned in this video would not be fitting for a "seasoned" Christian to partake in because they've been involved in their clomb for a while. Then there are others who are just stepping onto the ladder. Perhaps it was a " feel good " movie or "rock- sounding" Christian song that got a person to step on the first rung of the ladder, then praise the Lord. Let's steady the ladder for them as they make their own discernments on their climb, just as this young lady in the video has....
First video of yours I've seen and it's 🔥🔥🔥 💯 agree on all points. I listen to an audio Bible when I first get up and prepare for my day to homeschool five kids -- no time to sit down with highlighters then -- but we also read Scripture with our kids daily as part of school and have family worship time in the evenings. Never do have the opportunity for highlighters and elaborate journaling but that's okay. Our lives and home are still Scripture-soaked. 🙌🏼 We're members of a CREC church and it's been so refreshing to worship with faithful families who would all be able to get behind what you say here.
I am not for giving up on Christian entertainment. Jesus communicated through stories and stories are a way we can communicate God's messages. I believe we just have empty messages. It is now time for stories of substance. As a guy, I am working on an action story because am a huge fan of action movies and every movie that I like sets up an injustice, the movie then sets up a moral need for the protagonist to go after the antagonist. There are such things as avenging angels that God uses. I am hinting at things I am writing about.
I agree, we still have to still be discerning of the content and whether it is Biblical or not. If it isn’t, then don’t bother with it. Christian entertainment should glorify God and edify the body and if it doesn’t, it is deceiving us and leading us astray. I think on this side of heaven we will never have perfectly Biblical and edifying Christian music or entertainment. As long as we are headed for Jesus we’re on the right track, we just can’t shut our minds off because it’s “Christian”. If anything, we need to pay even closer attention. There are plenty of Christian artists and filmmakers that have a heart for the LORD and no one is perfect. There’s some trash out there, but I’ll still look for the gold.
I'm thankful that love always walks with truth.. I agree with many of the things you have said here. Everyday life is worship time with God. Being aware of the tactics of the enemy, put on the full armor of God snd keep walking.. let's stop playing church.. plant that word in your heart and guard it like we really love it. 🎉
The actual Churches. The club mentality and youth groups and worship teams and dinners. We began gathering as a small house church in 2020 and lord of things began to change when we come out of the mainstream church.
We do the same thing! The last church we went to would not even sit at the same table with us at their fellowship times. They started to spread lies about me and let me know that I was not welcome there. Several months later, they sent me a letter wanting me to make a financial commitment to them! Gutsy!
I was raised in a strict, very Biblical, Free Methodist church . And to me the classic hymns, Fanny Crosby, Phillip Bliss? They are super moving !! Much more than today’s worship music. Gaither music is very emotional. If you’re not brought to tears by the thought of Christ dying for us, then examine your heart .
Thank you Heidi. I have some of the same convictions as yours. I don't follow hardly any of the popular "Christian" personalities or go see a movie because all my church friends are doing it. I don't participate in Halloween or church Halloween alternatives. Our town has a trick or treat event every year and its announced in the bulletin to donate candy for our booth. Its not easy being the lone sheep but I need to stick with my convictions.
You mentioned having your Bible reading time in the evening instead of the morning....remember, the Biblical day actually starts in the evening so you really are starting your day off right. 😊😁
Okay I love the chosen. I don’t watch ad much for entertainment, but because it helps me understand the Word in ways I couldn’t before. Could you more elaborate what is so bad about the chosen??
I think Justin Peters does a great job breaking this down- th-cam.com/video/8kolwKnYQxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mWfMgzIPqR3Hd7UL Scripture is sufficient- the emotional deception used in this show is incredibly misleading.
Excellent video. I agree 100%. God bless you and your channel. Sadly, the new age movement has embedded itself deeply into our culture. Even as a lifelong Christian, I was drawn into it while trying to relieve pain and stress. I did “Christian yoga,” meditation, positive thinking and self-affirmations. Nothing helped until I rejected it all and came back to Jesus and the truth in His word.
As an addition to my last comment please don’t forget that NONE of these issue are heaven or hell issues. Doing or not doing any of these things won’t save you from hearing DEPART FROM ME I NEVER KNEW YOU
Would you please explain to me about the Chosen. I've only watched a few episodes. Also about music. Who do you listen to. When I went back to church for the first time in years they sang Gratitude. It became my praise song. I renewed my faith that night. I really need help understanding
This hit home for me!! I tossed so many books I began with when turning to the Lord. SO many; it truly is embarrassing. Now my shelves are filled with John MacArthur, RC Sproul, Charles Lawson, a little Spurgeon, etc. I couldn't agree more on the cheap Jesus products. You worded that so well. 😊
Unfortunately, John MacArthur and RC Sproul are Calvinist. Study 5 point Calvinist if you do not know what I am talking about. Sorry, but I believe in John 3:16 "whosoever" and not the "elect."
You should add Pagan Christianity to your bookshelf. Just to clarify, it’s not anti-Christian, but rather historically shows why Christianity believes and does certain things.
@@bettygrandy3046Paul is an incredible example of the doctrine of election. He wasn't crying out to God or looking to be saved when Jesus came to him, stopped him dead in his tracks and saved his soul. From that day on, he served the Lord. That is a beautiful verse you just shared but it needs to be read in context. Keep reading, John 15:16, clearly states "you did not choose me, but I chose you". ❤
Amen sister!!!!! This is so refreshing to hear! I have sounded these alarms and have been jumped all over by other Christians. We don’t cheapen Jesus!!!
When I had littles I hit the ground running because they got up at 4:30am. Now that I am 68 I am up at 3:30 , sleep is difficult. I spend time praying and being in the word. We have season. Just because you are not reading the word first thing (the verse of the day is very helpful) doesn't mean you aren't communing with our Father all day long. Bible reading came later at night then. I agree with the other things, I would add TV in general, but it took time for Him to reach my heart and change my choices. Isn't He so very good and very patient with His children 🙏❤️🤗
Your message was so encouraging this morning about this topic. This has been so strongly on my heart and mind for probably over a year. It has become wildly popular to ''world-ify'' our relationship with God and unfortunately doing that will weaken the power, transformation, and true peace that walking with Christ Biblically is supposed to have on the body of Christ. We are ''church-homeless'' and starting our own home church where purely reading the Bible, singing hymns with quiet guitar and spirit moved prayer will replace light shows, loud bethel music and rambling on about sports and taco's just to entertain everyone, by whoever the ''pastor of the week'' is. It's so strange to have to do this because it feels like there are about 200 churches around us - they are all mini-mega churches for the most part. We have been accused of being ''prideful'' for walking away from this culture, but I know in my heart of hearts this isn't about pride - and I would argue that high-overhead building, light and sound set-up, and a ministry that feels like it relies on a business plan more than the Holy Spirit, is actually where the pride finger should be pointed if we are honest. It feels isolating right now, but I know that God has a plan and we are just obeying that calling and waiting for him to bring us where he is leading.
Amen, sister. My top "give-ups" include reading "Christian" books, listening to "Christian" pop radio music, and celebrating the pagan/Roman holidays. When I realized one day that I had not been hungering and thirsting for the righteousness of the Lord, I sat and cried. He has taken me on quite a journey since that day and woke me up the deception within the church. I have spent many hours researching both the Scriptures and the world to see what has been so heartily accepted within the body of Christ that is not from Him at all, and oh boy! will people fight with everything they've got to defend it rather than standing on the unchanging Word of the Bible. God bless--new subscriber here.
I understand your spiritual maturity and what you’re saying, and I agree with some things like the new age Christianity (we are never to mix dark and light), but looking down on less mature, baby Christians and those programs or music that feed baby Christians is like looking down on a baby for needing milk and the mother that provides that milk through breastfeeding. I think Jesus Christ and Him crucified, pointing people to Jesus, and anyone that does that is justified. We all need different sources at different maturity levels in our walk. I loved Hillsing and Joel Osteen when I was a baby Christian but now I look for the meat of the word. We are not all eyes, ears, hands and feet…some of us in the body of Christ are simply the appendix or the very top of the tailbone…not very noticeable from day to day, but when hurt, very noticeable. I think we should stick to exposing darkness and not mixing it with light, rather than belittling the type of light that’s shining.
Amen! Love this! I grew up going to church but once I hit my teens/early 20s I started straying away from it. Most because I saw a lot of hypocrisy and I wasn't down with that + when I questioned it I was often shushed. So I walked away intending to pursue God on my own. ...that didn't go quite as planned. Though I didn't completely loose my faith or turn away from God in unbelief... I wound up caught up in the ways of the world and in efforts of surviving often went along to get along. I even hopped on the new age Christianity train for a bit thinking that was the answer ... yet there was still an internal discord; something still wasn't right. Fast forward to 2018 when I was sentenced to 6 months jail time for a crash that I was responsible for in 2017... God used my dumbassery and negligence to bring me back to Him. Since then I realize much of what I was taking in "christian"/"worship" music, books by Christian authors (pastors of mega churches/motivational speakers that sprinkle in some scripture)...the new age Christianity movement is not true Christianity. It's false doctrine. It'd liken it to the 2 truths and a lie game except its got way more lies and just a truth or two sprinkled in so you aren't any wiser (+ they dress those lies up real good n nice so they blend right in and you don't question it/pick up on it). Now... I do get up at 0430 to have "Jesus Time"; however, it's not with a bunch of highlighters and whatnot... it's me and my earbuds (listening to a sermon) or Bible (reading scripture) + some paper and a pen for notes. And it's b/c that's the time that currently works with our life and the season we are in (and some days I opt to hit snooze and get just a little extra sleep). However, everything else I'm right there with you sister... I've been in a process of "tightening up my ship" since my "Big Girl Time Out", but have recently really started cranking down. Thanks for your video! Blessings to you and your family
I thank God for this message. It is refreshing to hear a women stand firm on Bible truth. I wish you lived in my neighborhood 😂. This is the first video I have watched of yours and I am subscribed!! I pray God covers you and protects you as you boldly unphold his truth marking and avoiding the things that are destructive heresies mascerading as truth.
I don’t know how I ran across this woman on TH-cam who has a ministry to women. But I started watching because of the title!!! And I am 100% in agreement!!!
I’m Jewish/christian by ancestry and faith. I use the complete Jewish Bible as well as the KJV. Only books I need, books have become completely inappropriate these days. If people want music from the Bible consider the songs of psalms. There is a team of archaeologists and musicians that have found that the original texts of David’s psalms the music notes are already there. Having grown up in the entertainment industry I know there are far too many ways to mislead through music (Christian and otherwise) via recordings. I’ve given up on ministries who end up in financial, moral and spiritual corruption. Gods word through his prophets, deciples and written word and my prayers will guide me.
@tonyamills3475 I do agree with most of what you are saying but becareful not fall into legalism.
God bless you much
@RobynDuder-i2o noticed your comment on legalism...I understand what you mean.
I'd like some bible study ideas
I'm with you. Mornings is when I am wide awake & I love being the only one up. Quite & peaceful & I can focus
Amen Sister
In January of this year I started reading through the bible first thing in the morning at 5 a.m. I think it is so important with all the attacks of the enemy the best way to start your day is getting covered in the word. I love my coffee and Jesus time it is a great way to start your day.
I like to read more at night, but I’ll read the verse of the day from the Youversion app in the morning
we read as a family every morning about 5.
In Christ's love, Martha John 11:5a
I have a feeling this won't get a heart response from you but that is okay. I only need it from my dear Savior. :)
Amen- exactly what we all should be striving to do! :)
I am so thankful for this 80-year-old sister in the Lord thank you for sharing your story I appreciate reading it
Yes 1 year later and a 26 year old mom of 2 young boys loved reading this comment so much that the video
Ended and i was reading “80 year old part and video ended I had to go back to find it jsut to finish and hear her story….., precious!
Thank you, Martha! You are a sweet conduit of our GOD❤
I love BBN radio- great teachings and old hymns!
I sense a religious spirit here.
That’s always bugged me how a MINISTRY became a COMPETITION.
Plus I also believe the gospel should be free no matter how it’s presented, song or preaching. I’m not paying a fortune to listen to singers who are getting rich from whatever they are doing. I guess that’s why I’ve always preferred to hear local singers than professionals.
This❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ok….I’m going to get some haters here lol.
I think Justin Peters does a great job breaking this down- th-cam.com/video/8kolwKnYQxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mWfMgzIPqR3Hd7UL
Scripture is sufficient- the emotional deception used in this show is incredibly misleading.
Every day we’re one day closer- Maranatha! 🙏🏼📖
I lament this all the time among my spiritual brothers and sisters. They have literally stated, Come, Lord Jesus, just not today!” How grievous!

'When you pray, do not pray as the Gentiles do, heaping up empty phrase upon empty phrase, thinking they will be heard for their many words'.
I'm so glad to hear someone else that doesn't do Bible quiet time early in the morning! I find doing it at night before bed helps me sleep better!
Me too, night girl.
Christ though did get away early early in the morning before all were awake to pray and come before the father.
I am blessed and encouraged by Biblical Christian music. We are told to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in our hearts to God.
John MacArthur does a sermon called The Worship God Desires, it was so good!

Agree 👍 🙆♀️
My thoughts exactly
@@sama.scraps Well, that’s YOUR opinion. I mostly agree with hers.
@@sama.scraps I don’t think she’s judging anyone I think she’s just speaking her own preferences ❤
Our entertainment is Jesus - joy unspeakable and source of bliss! Isn't He our Lover? He is ! We are united with Him forever!
Amen Sister! I’ve lost several “friends” recently for expressing that the Lord has opened my eyes to these things .
That’s too bad. You’re not alone. I’ve lost count of how many friends I’ve lost. But Jesus is all important & we should live only to please Him.
@@HeavenlyMindedHome Sounds hypocritical. Or did I read your reply wrong ?
I believe she said something about for the "sake of entertainment," and in her reply to you, did she not type something about "watering down the gospel"?

I’m glad that you brought up “cheap Jesus.” I’ve always felt averse to those type of things.
I hate it when PEOPLE CALL HIM DADDY JESUS. HE US OUR HEAVENLY FATHER YOU HAVE TO REVERENCE .

Amen! New age is infecting much in the church culture today.
Agree with all in your comment'. Many Christian women believe God will 'redeem' yoga but He redeems people not their ongoing sinful practices.
@@HeavenlyMindedHomeGod is in the business of redeeming people. Not places or practices. If more emotional women understood this the better off the Christian church would be.
I never thought about putting the Christian label on something as making it "ok". Good point on the pornography aspect.
There is absolutely no such thing as holy yoga! It’s like playing on the Ouija board with Christian music in the background
Very well said. Thank you ❤

Precisely.
I know this was put out over a year ago but you are the only parson I have seen who feels the exact same way as me....biblically.

Me too! I just stumbled on her video out of the blue and agree completely on all points she made. God bless!
@@shannoncook9915 ditto!
God bless!
This woman has truly NAILED IT in a very kind and humble way!
I am so grateful for your words of wisdom. God needs no smoke and mirrors for His truth!
I will throw out one difference of opinion with something you said:
I agree with you on SO much of the Christian media out there today. Lots of snakes in the grass and I bet some of the media creators themselves don't even realize it. However, I disagree with your view of the TV show you mentioned: The Chosen. Given the fact that they do not explicitly teach from scripture to carefully send it out to their audience, they do not portray scripture word for word and they take LOTS of liberties with what they think could have been plausible, between the lines of scripture, I would have the exact same opinion that you do about the show - *IF* - it wasn't for the following:
They have said from the beginning that they are not there to teach, they are not a replacement for the bible, they are creating the show for entertainment purposes, they have never hidden the fact that they take creative liberties and they do what they do in order to "wonder" what it might have been like to really BE there as the gospels were being played out and express that in a way that would hopefully cause people to get out their bibles and really study scripture for themselves.
I agree entirely with this comment, and I am a subscriber as well 😊
Thank you for what you commented regarding "The Chosen" series & how MILLIONS have started searching/learning about Jesus since it started.

I agree with you.
Try to find a good, conservative Lutheran congregation 😊 they’re still out there worshipping with their kids and singing hymns.
Yes- the "do, do, do" Christians. And the constant splitting the family apart... men one way, women the other, and kids constantly separated. :(
@@HeavenlyMindedHomeYES! It drives me nuts. We have been looking to start a small group and kept getting told, “the women’s group meets Wednesday night and the men’s on Tuesday,” and that bugs me. My husband and I like to do it together.

Oh goodness-- that is awful! The lack of discernment coming from the top down is just heartbreaking.

I totally agree I do the same. The chosen made me add more visual images to my imagination when I'm reading the bible
Yeah same here and sadly many of these mainstream shows have no problem with actor’s blasphemy throughout the show but yes the fornicating is 😈☠️😡🤮🚩
💯📖✝️🥳 I'm so glad you said this.
Good for you.
I was up at 5am. Chill in the bed with my cats. Read a chapter out of the Bible then proceed with my day.
I think Justin Peters does a great job breaking this down- th-cam.com/video/8kolwKnYQxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mWfMgzIPqR3Hd7UL
Scripture is sufficient- the emotional deception used in this show is incredibly misleading.
Yeah, I was clarifying or correcting things in the show that my husband was like “can I just watch the show lol?” It’s not perfect, it’s entertainment and I made sure to highlight the things the show got right once in a while, drove him nuts 😆

Same here! 😀
You can read, study the word of God and pray any time throughout the day and night, it doesn't matter because He's with us 24/7. There is no right or wrong time to spend with God.
Same 🙂
@@slimdude2011Yes, true but there are those who elevate themselves with the earlier the better.
Where in the Bible does it sat 5AM?
I do agree with many points you have here! I am a 4 am bible study person, however. It is a quiet time when no one interrupts me and I feel more focused then. I do ready some Christian authors and agree, not all Christian authors are biblically sound!! Thanks so much!!
That's wonderful-- if that works for you! Praise God! For those that it doesn't, that's ok too! XO
Amen! Love your analogy; spit out the seed, not the whole pie 😊
Thank you
Also yes and 5am bible study. Finally lighting a candle and doing my study at night. Gives me a peak to end my day
YES!! 5AM club always makes me feel less-than. I love that someone besides me said this.
While 5 AM works for some not everyone, any time of the day is good
I will be lifting you up in prayer!!
Praying for encouragement and strength for you and that someone close to you can step in and help you. ❤

This is very dear. The our Fathers Sabbath of rest every 7th day is what I would add. It brings in Shalom.❤
@rarajj655 Exodus 31 vs 13-17. The Sabbath is our everlasting covenant. 😊 Amen
Thank you.
Just give Him something! Pray while feeding
(I do like to read Christian literature from biblically sound teachers)
I tried watching the chosen (because everyone in my small group raved about it)
I just couldn’t!

It feels so isolating sometimes, but you are so “cheered on my a great cloud of witnesses” who have gone before us ❤
@@kimberlyphifer2391
The great cloud of witnesses to which you refer, is not a crowd of people who are SPECTATORS of our doings here on earth, since they are in heaven and probably unaware of what we do here.
I am looking for a new church ⛪️ for these reasons!
I’m inspired by your comments very much. With age comes wisdom. ❤
First video of yours I've seen and it's 🔥🔥🔥
💯 agree on all points. 🙌🏼
We're members of a CREC church and it's been so refreshing to worship with faithful families who would all be able to get behind what you say here.
Amen- big hugs! Praying that the Lord will be glorified and guide us all! XO
I think Justin Peters does a great job breaking this down- th-cam.com/video/8kolwKnYQxE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mWfMgzIPqR3Hd7UL
Scripture is sufficient- the emotional deception used in this show is incredibly misleading.
Want to ‘go to church ‘ but either ‘doctrine of men’ or disco, rather just read with my neighbor ❤
Yes! We women need Bible study!
2Timothy 2:15 - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Isn't it weird that so many who throw the "prideful and arrogant" arrow are blatently exactly that! So sad... 😕❤
Agree
