@openlybookish it took me several years to grieve it, but now I have no guilt, and my parents aren't too upset about it.
My husband is a Pastor, so it's sometimes a little difficult to navigate with new members, but most of our congregation chooses not to celebrate either. We make Thanksgiving our BIG holiday. At church, we will fellowship and give gifts to all the families, sometimes playing white elephant. At home, we celebrate it similar to Christmas with gifts for the children on Thanksgiving morning. It's not the "commercialism" of the season that we're against. It's the "Jesus is the reason" when He's not. It's the idols and the history.
We love the memories our kids make on Thanksgiving, and it causes us to remember and be grateful for the things God has blessed us with.

Yes! The Father is walking us up. I felt uncomfortable about for a few years and finally took myself out of it despite family wanting to celebrate it. Saw some documentaries and was done. I'm now learning of the biblical holidays that the Father establishes instead. It's a process, it can get confusing but walking in obedience is more important as we go. Let's tay in the Bible! Praise YHVH for his revelation to us all.

2013 is when my husband I were also convicted when God started pointing out the ungodliness of Xmas. It wasn't easy to deal with family in the beginning but as the years go by they've learned we will not risk our souls for their opinions. We don't tell them what to believe but we do tell them we have to listen to our convictions just as they do and we all learn at different stages. Most people won't look into it. Some have and question their involvement in the pagan holidays but wong give them up. Praying we all use wisdom as we walk and work out our salvation. I love seeing that others have been enlightened to this worldly manipulation. God bless

Growing up, my parents made sure to start every Christmas day with breakfast as a family and us reading the Bible together of the story of Jesus. We would talk about his parables and then pray as a family individually. We knew that Santa didnt exist and would thank our parents and family members for gifts.
Later that evening, we would go to church. There was never a question in our family who Christmas was about.

Let Christmas be about Jesus Christ and nobody else! I started to read Luke chapter 2 to prove this edifying video. She is right about many aspects of this pagan Christmas celebration. When reading whole chapter 2 it sinks in to me story about the Shepards and their experience with the angles proclaiming the coming of their savior being born in Bethlehem, and. about. the man Simeon, who had been waiting for messiah and. being granted by the Holy Spirit to see him before he died. Luke. 2,25, 26,30, Isaiah 52,10, Luke. 2,31, psalm 98,2. Luke 2,32, Isaiah 42,6, 49,6. Luke 2,34, Isaiah 8,14. A very special day of our history. Why not celebrate the day? what a day for pagans, to get access to the light of God, Jesus Christ our savior. We who sat in darkness have seen His light.

I think we have the power to turn any day into a day about Jesus. I don't believe Christmas is from Satan, but some if the practices or traditions are more so godless myths that have nothing to do with God and are actually things we should avoid, an example being kissing under the holly. It is mentioned in 1 Timothy, at least twice, for us to avoid godless myths.

There is no words I can use to describe my gratitude for you. I have been walking this walk seemingly alone. I started celebrating the biblical holidays, because they were biblical and seemed so rich and beautiful. Thankfully, I was able to join a loving and open Messianic Jewish community, who with open arms, allowed me to celebrate with them. You wouldn’t believe the back lash and accusations I received from my Christian friends. I was told to “be careful “ as if I was joining a cult. So I have pretty much been walking this alone. Thankfully, my husband is very discontent and aware of how off Christmas is with the life we want to live pleasing to God. I’m not judging or condemning anyone else. It’s just our own personal conviction. Again, I am so thankful to have a sister in Christ like you, who lives with the very sobering understanding that Christ is returning soon, and becoming mindful of how will we be able to give account on that day.

Oh My gosh !!!!! Thank you Heavenly Minded Homemaker. I finally found someone who thinks like I do. Everyone thought I was trying to get out of celebrating Christmas or any other pagan holiday, I felt deep in my soul this holiday did not set right with me. All the years of watching my mother stressed out to make sure we had the perfect Christmas, staying up all night wrapping gifts, making sure she had the perfectly decorated tree. Spending money we didn't have so that we could get what Santa had promised. As a parent I fell into the same trap, even worse going through depression, and stress and big time guilt that I didn't want to celebrate the birth of Christ in this way. How blinded I was following traditions year after year. I struggled not knowing why I felt this way. I was a lukewarm Christian until recently. I am 66 years old, I know the Holy Spirit has been speaking to my soul and showing me truth. I turned on my You tube and found you. I truely believe God had led me to your channel. My dad and I even got into an argument because of it (not the best) wish I would’ve just walked away. But I’ve grown plenty since then. We just have to realize that we won’t appease everyone in this world and that is ok. We shouldn’t strive to because like the scriptures say, the moment we are trying to please people, we stop trying to please God. And essentially that’s who we ultimately need to please. We don’t live for the approval of anyone on this earth. We merely seek to glorify Him in all that we do, and through that - there may be a few displeased people along the way. That’s ok. Shalom ❤️

To add a different perspective perhaps, as a Christian, I love celebrating Christmas with the tree, singing, special food, family etc. and find it is a happy time of year when so many people need something to be happy about. Whilst the secular society around us focuses heavily on the gifts, food and fun, I still think it's wonderful that we collectively celebrate the most wonderful historical event, that is the birth of Christ. Even in the secular Christmas Carols events, gospel songs feature, and I think it's great that all manner of people will hear these and that they are not banned from events. School plays still talk about the birth of Jesus and have children dressing up as Mary and Joseph, shepherds etc. and whilst they may not be from Christian contexts, isn't it wonderful that the story of Jesus and his birth continues to be talked about? So yes, I agree with some thoughts on pagan celebrations, but I like to embrace the traditions with a focus on the true 'reason for the season'. I don't go mad with gift giving etc, but enjoy the opportunity to have a family meal to pray and be thankful for the gift of Jesus and just enjoy. I'm not a 'let's completely abandon this or that' person but try to embrace celebrating with moderation. I'm also wary of becoming too legalistic - it's a balance! Anyhow, just my thoughts.

This is the first time I have seen someone outside of my family recognize that the festivals of Leviticus were pointing to Jesus, who fulfilled them. I admire the zeal you have for serving God, and I ask that God will continue to grow mine as well. And I know He will unless He's got other plans for me; He is such a loyal, loving, gracious God. I am a young girl, and going through the transition of girl to woman, I appreciate having found you and the good, Biblical example you intend to give. You are the first person I've seen to celebrate the festivals yourself, and I will take those into consideration as a way to get into the meat rather than just milk about our Savior. My family hosts swim parties/Bible studies for friends and family weekly, and a few weeks ago, we studied the festivals and how they point to God. I'm SO THANKFUL for God blessing humanity the way He has, and for blessing those that seek Him!! I'm praying that God will continue to reveal things to the both of us and bless your children. I also ask Him that He'll help my heart to develop into one that doesn't sway to the right and left when it comes to truly having the desire to obey Him. I trust that He's taking care of me, and I humble my heart. My mother is not diving into the scripture as you do, so I will definitely strive to be the kind of woman God wants me to be and be an even better mom than she is; I love my mother very much, cherish her, and want to honor her, and same with God. My dad (and myself) study God's Word a lot, and I'm so thankful that God has given me a desire to do that even as a kid. I'm learning that it's vital for us to detect Satan trying to lead us astray, because he working in today's society a lot. But God is too, and He's working for the good of believers, so He'll help us. As I'm growing and experiencing temptations and examining the world around me from a the kind of perspective God is teaching me to have through His Word, I'm seeing that Satan tries to prevent God's Will by using the world to normalize fear (eg: horror films). And Satan has always been working throughout history to try to cause women and men to defer and wander from the Biblical roles God blessed them with. But God is SO kind. He blessed us with His Word, and in the USA, He's blessed us with the ability to do that freely. So may we simply study it and turn our focus from ourselves to God and our relationship with Him and ask Him to make us more and more righteous so that we can live, raise up the next generation, and share the Gospel with those around us and do it in the way God shows us to. :)

I gave up Christmas and Easter all in one year. Freedom. My issue is that so many Churches put so much time and attention to these holidays and have even incorporated Halloween. Yikes.

I became bothered by the idea that this holiday is "celebrating Jesus birth" but on that day, while opening all these gifts no one was mentioning Jesus. It really isn't about Jesus but getting a bunch of gifts. We spend so much money on gifts while some people really need help.

      @Living4YHWH ปีที่แล้ว +2

It was never about Yeshua. If you get to the roots of it, it is all about "Christianizing" the pagan holiday Saturnalia to bring more people into the church (religion).
It has been proven time and time again that Yeshua was not born, most obviously demonstrated by the fact that the shepherd's would not have been in the fields with their sheep at night in the winter cold. He was most likely born during the fall feasts, which YHWH gave us to keep "forever" in all our generations. Forever hasn't ended yet and they are still to be kept. They are a blessing and far better than any pagan-inspired man-made holidays! 💕
Man created a few 'special times' throughout the year, YHWH created a weekly Shabbat, monthly celebrations, the Fall Feasts, the Spring Feasts. We always have someone to look forward to and time to gather with Him, in accordance with HIS calendar and plan! 😁

20 years ago we spoke to my husbands family about Christmas and the gift giving craziness. So we decided as a family to not do that kind of “celebration”. Instead we get together and hang out some time in December. But each year each part of the family gives money to pool together and one couple decides a charity to give it to. We do make a deal about that by writing it in a book and keeping it for future generations. It’s been to places such as Heifer International, Compassion, an organization that helps children with cleft palette surgeries, etc. we would rather use our money to help others and it’s always exciting for us to see where the money is going that year. We choose to celebrate Jesus every day instead. We are thankful for Him every day. And we are thankful that He provides us with the ability to help others.

I too started questioning the scriptures that seem to be quoted over and over again by other Christians and found the verses to be surprising also. I'm so glad God has brought me to His true word and understanding. Each one of us is responsible for our own salvation. Phil 2:12-13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Study for ourselves. Find out where these Christian holidays come from. We are supposed to be set apart from the world. When I did the research on Christmas I admit I tried to find a way to continue celebrating and staying out of sin at the same time. Now I don't even miss Christmas anymore. Pleasing God is the most important. If we do that and trust in Him, He will take care of us always. God bless.

I've seen people be convicted to have Saturday as their Sabbath, women wear dresses and or cover their hair, etc.... I think it's beautiful to see how the Lord is working in people's lives. I'm more concerned about ppl following false prophets and relying on man's word over God's Word.

Jesus was born in September not December and God did not give us instructions about how and when we are to celebrate Christ's birthday. If our Father wanted us to celebrate the birth of His Son, He would have told us. The Roman Catholic church ordained the Christ Mass not God. Jesus told His disciples how we are to remember Him when He broke the bread and gave them the cup of wine to drink. While Christ's birth was a wonderful and vital event that we love to read about, it is His death, burial and resurrection that we are to keep in remembrance of Him, not His birth. When we keep the 25th of December Mass we are joining hands with the world through Rome. Our flesh loves the festivities of the so called "season" but no good thing dwells in the flesh. We new creatures in Christ and we are instructed to walk in the Spirit, not the flesh. I'm not saying that anyone is going to hell for keeping that day, but if it depresses you not to keep a RC festival, you need to ask God to help you, because it is your flesh that makes you feel that way, not your new nature.

Yes! It has been a process of releasing Christmas, and encouraging hubs to see all of our pagan holidays in the light of God's word. Minimalism was definitely a tool in the process for us, as well. We gradually cut down on Xmas decor as I shared with hubs what I was learning. The tall expensive prelit tree went first - shared forward when it stopped functioning (small church wanted it for a pageant), and hubs agreed we could replace it with live trees (of decreasing size as time went on), then our plain outdoor lights (saving them to warm plants during freezes), decor extending beyond the tree except very sentimental nativities, then cheap ornaments, then trees of any kind, and I have joyfully passed on our decorations to thrift shops, to friends (prettiest, most costly ornaments and expensive and sentimental nativities), to family (hand blown glass ornaments from family that brought them from Germany, Mom-made felt Advent calendar with tiny family mementos to hang on the felt tree): all part of my commitment to NOT judge others' place on the journey, while creating opps for sharing/reinforcing to recipients the pagan info to those who haven't heard it, God's command not to participate in pagan religious rites, etc., while blessing them financially (they spend less on Christmas junk because they were for sure going to do that!), and reminding them that I have zero investment in them holding on to it, encouraging them to even throw them away, when they were ready for freedom as well, demonstrating that it is easy to let it go as well. Recipients expressed appreciation of my non-judgmental attitude, but are not ready to let go of family expectations, or creating that xmas experience for family. No problem! I share my process, and the process of others I know about, vs going cold turkey. Christmas is now a time to humorously and briefly remind them of scriptural conflicts with our celebrations, and to let them know how much less stressful November, December is without it. That it gives me MORE time to celebrate who Jesus is, not less. I explain that I don't feel constrained by a date, nor feel pressured to find the ''right'' gift for a holiday, but loving impulses to gift others to meet their needs can be acted upon immediately at any time. (Ex: I love buying the more wholesome and elevated children's books from the past, from used bookstores, in stacks - and bringing one or two with me when visiting young mom friends, especially if they are housebound because their family has only one car, and let mom know where to resell it for cash when they are done with them! They know I don't want to junk up their homes! ).
Also I share that I love-love-love NOT having to clean up holiday stuff that looks sad and trashy after Dec. 25 goes by, and which always looks a bit trashy by day, 🤣!
I'm content to be weird about this 😁. i just try to love others where they are. Hubs still likes getting out of town for xmas, but there's no getting away from it, culturally. Every hotel we have been to has holiday decor (winter wonderland is strange in Mexico!) but I won't turn my nose up at their special Christmas beef tenderloin!!! Like you, we don't necessarily avoid ''Christmas'' gatherings, especially as our church has gotten large enough to fall out of touch with certain folks (folks from past mission trips, or our homeschooling buddies, now that our kids are adults), and as I said - great opp to share how we ditched what God never commanded us to do, etc. Briefly planting the seed. We are there merely to reconnect and share the love of Jesus that we share as believers (or love of family, or old friends). ❤️❤️❤️

I love how you try and re-examine everything through scripture. The last couple years, we’ve been detaching ourselves from a lot of the usual christmas stuff because we want to focus on christ. I imagine we’ll end up just letting it all go because it really does get in the way. Love the idea of getting into the holy days instead. Being that you are trying to be as biblical as possible, I would suggest you really look into the traditional belief of a pre-tribulation rapture. I use to believe that until I really looked into it and realized that it’s not in the Bible and it actually warns us the opposite. Looking forward to the resurrection of the saints upon His return to reign.

yes, we can still celebrate Christ's birth even if Dec 25th isn't the actual date of his birth because it is sure something to take time to celebrate with the rest of the world! I love the lights too - it is symbolic of the light Christ brought into the world at the darkest time of the year. Also, the Christmas season always seems to be a time to bring a little more light, service and love into the world. I think we just need to be careful to make our focus on Christ not on the world's version of Christmas. I agree with a lot of her ideas/beliefs but this one is a little too far for me to completely take Christmas out of my life. I do not believe Christ did not think we should have some fun in celebrating him! I do like the idea of celebrating Hanaka and other Jewish holidays.

We are not supposed to celebrate with the world. We aren’t supposed to be doing what the World does. We are to be a people called apart, and our minds on God and the life to come., and spreading the gospel. There are so many unsaved souls in the world! Even in America. Look to the Bible to tell us what kinds of people,Christians are to be, how we are ro behave, how we are to dress, how we are ro speak and behave. It’s all there in the Bible!
God didn’t tell us we had to be always serious and to never laugh or have fun. But everything has a place and a time . Can we not have fun and laugh wirh family gatherings , family dinners ? Can’t we have fun and laugh with our children and our relatives children, enjoying seeing them play, and be kids? There are hundreds of ways that we as Christians can have fun, laugh, enjoy our lives, , and the events not be tainted by paganism , or idolatry.
Do you know the origin of Christmas? The Roman Catholic Church saw that pagans ( thet they wanted to convert to Christianity) would not stop, celebrating the winter equinox. They celebrated it by bringing evergreens onto their homes, holly and Ivy for decoration, and even a evergreen tree (;as a symbol of life, rebirth and fertility) and they had little gifts that were specially decorated and tied onto the branches, as an offering to the Sun god. The people also gave each other small gifts during this celebration. They aso built a fire and put in a huge piece of wood , the Yule Log that was supposed to burn all through the many days ( up to 12 days) of celebrating the winter equinox, and if it did, this ment the coming year would be a good year, good weather, not much sickness many crops, healthy fertile animals and healthy fertile women .
The winter equinox is when the light begins to change and the days begin to get longerit shows winter is over and the people have survived another winter.
Other things involved in the pagan celebrations were bonfires, where people would jump over/ through them so they woukd have good luck and fertility, and good crops in the coming year. They would lay two lines of fires and lead their animals through the line for the same reason.
There was a feast, wirh special goods not eaten at other times, in honor of the sun god, and there would be drinking, and people would find partners to go off and have sex with. If a woman fell pregnant that was a good sign from the gods, it showed she had been blessed by the sun god.
They would sing drinking songs and songs to the gods of fertility and and the sun God. And this feasting , drinking , singing went on for up,to 12 days.
So the Catholic Church didn’t want this happening. The bishops of the Church were concerned wirh getting more converts, to tithe, make the church more prosperous, more people to be under the control of the church …..And not just doing whatever they wanted and having these big celebrations rations to idols. . It made the Catholic church look bad too for not being able to make them stop and not converting these folks. …..
So some bishops decided to put a coat of “ Church wash” on this, pagan celebration…. So the customs and traditions that were once pagan the bishops suddenly declared were not Christian, the whole celebration was now in honor of Christ, and the requirement was to come ro a xhatolicmchurch on this day, and celebrate “Christ mass” a mass to honor Christ , who , the bishops just decided ( wirh no evidence) was born on that day….just as previously the pagan god was born on that day and the celebration was in honor of him.
The feast, songs, tree, decorations and gifts ,and the celebration being in honor of and for a pagan idol.
The Bible specifically tells us not to cut down a tree and bring it into our houses, decorate it wirh gold and silver and makie an idol out of it. The verse can be interpreted to mean trees used to carve idols from and decorating them with gold and silver ….or the idols that we have made of the trees themselves and putting silver and hold decorations onto the trees. The Bible has alot to about what kinds of things Gods people shouldn’t do, customs we shouldn’t copy….
We are not supposed to make idols of anything, a holiday, Santa Claus, customs and traditions, celebrities, pretty lights and decorations . There’s a difference between just enjoying somerhing and elevating it to the position that we have in this culture, to worship, and being an idol.
, …..Anything can be elevated to the position of a idol and worshipped. Not falling on your knees and bowing down before it kind of worship …….but giving it undue attention , spending too much time on it or with it, spending too much money on it ( sounds like what we do with the internet and our phones doesnt it? But that’s something to talk about on another post) giving the things of Christmas too much prominence, giving it a place in your life , mind and heart that should belong to,God
This holiday of Christmas is NOT in honor of Christ, no matter how many people, say it is. Our culture says it is and people just go along….we don’t want to be set apart, different. Not that’s EXACTLY what God tells us to be! Giving this pagan holiday the amount of time, attention, money and prominence that we do, is a form of idolatry and worshipping idols.
Why would you want to celebrate a holiday the bishops of the Catholic Church INVENTED , grafted on top of a celebration to pagan gods! It’s not even as if theses bishops created Christmas out of a sense of love and reverence, see,ing to honor Yashua…..because that wasn’t the reason! …..I certainly don’t want to show any honor, or recognition to anything pagan and neither should any Christian .
Who are you worshipping Christ or pagan gods? Don’t answer, think about this very hard. People say they worship Christ, but really? It was mankind that made up,this holiday , not God.
Now we have to add Santa Claus, lies, , consumerism, greed, sloth, gluttony and a whole list of other things that are recognized and celebrated at Christmas.
What holidays does God want us to observe? The sabbath , and the others are listed in the Bible .
Oh and the sabbath that God gave us is Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown. This is the day the Jews observed, having recieved this information from God. Yashua observed this day. Why do Christian’s celebrate the sabbath on Sunday? Did God tell us to? Is the sabbath being on Saturday considered to be part of the Jewish tradition, Under the Law? Is Sunday being the sabbath comsidered to be for Christian’s, as being Under Grace?
No, Emperors Constantine decided to change it. A mere human changed the sabbath day that God had set. How arrogant and blasphemous!
Look at Christianity today and research how much it’s has been added to, and changed. And where the things originated from. Most if not all are pagan.

We do Christmas, a tradition that helps our family stay focused on service during the season is my children do homemade gifts, one gift for one sibling (we rotate through). I help them, we start them in the summer so they're done on time. They learn a new skills or improve skills. It makes them so they're so much more excited about giving than receiving. What they want to do most is give the gift they made to their sibling. I love seeing how excited they are to GIVE.

@joshegan145 - it’s a beautiful thing for children to give such precious, handmade gifts to their brothers and sisters. But honestly, they can do that on other days instead of on pagan holidays. We should be serving one another all the time. I don’t see why you could not transfer this beautiful tradition to the holy days that God asks us to celebrate.

We are new creatures in Christ and we are instructed to walk in the Spirit, not the flesh. Our joy is found in Christ, every day.

    Heidi...
    I'm sitting here crying.
    You have no idea.
I'm a Jewish woman, living in Israel. I grew up in a Christian environment before coming back home here (at 16 yo). I have always believed in Yeshua as the Messiah for Israel and the world (except for a relative brief period of doubts and "checking out" atheism).
I love traditions. When I was 2 or 3 maybe we quit Christmas. Because - same.
We tried to learn the Jewish traditions (again, so beautiful and rich) and got often stuck with the same problem...Here it's less the Norse paganism but loads of Babylonian stuff.
I feel so often like I belong nowhere and nobody understands my problem. I (we, hubby is on board) cope and it's alright mostly, but this video just got me crying so badly. This is such a difficult time atm, and suddenly there is this ray of light and understanding, like a heart to heart connection.
    Thank you.
I don't know if you will ever see this, but still, wanted to just put it here.
God bless you guys, see you in the kingdom ❤

My prayer is that The Most High blesses you beyond measure! You hit the mark sis! If people would just get to know Him through His Word, the more we would learn that He wants us to worship Him HIS WAY AND NOT OURS!!!!!! This is the very thing that angered Him about Israel; them trying to worship Him THIER WAY, through idol worship as the other nations did! People place way too much emphasis on what people think, rather than what God thinks. Anyone that judges you for seeking God should really check their own relationship with Him! My family and I completely ignore the holiday, just like we do EVERY OTHER HOLIDAY! I have 3 children as well and they've never celebrated it (we actually teach biblical truth about the topic during those holidays to our children, to arm them for conversations they have with others). I have so much to say but I am elated to come across a true believer; one who seeks to please The Lord in Spirit and in truth! Just stumbled upon your video and I am officially a subscriber. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Amen and thank you my sister in The Lord!!!!!

Hello! Loved your testimony and discovery on the path to Biblical Holy Days. It takes a lot of courage to do what you did. I know as I also was lead to finding out that I was duped about Christmas and other holidays back in 2015. My first year celebrating some of the Holy days was 2016. I don't have a Church/Synagogue to attend where I live in Northern California with my awakened understanding. So...I searched on line and found Beth Yeshua International in Macon Georgia lead by Rabbi Greg Hershbeg. He is a Jewish man serving Yeshua/Jesus. I absolutely love watching on TH-cam every Saturday/Sabbath morning. Hope this helps those that are also on this incredible path. God Bless you all! ❤ Liz

I also started to read the Bible for myself from cover to cover and started to notice that the Word say one thing, but the pastors said something different. I started to questioning everything and taking out of my life teaching, books, churches that were saying things that the Bible didn't say. Sadly is very hard to find congregation that teaches pure Biblical doctrines. It's so much deception in the world, just as the Bible say it would be at the end times. I hope our Messiah gets back soon and get all the wrongs right once and for all. Keep up the good work sister. Blessings to you and yours! 🌹🌸🏵

When you know something, you become responsible for it. You’re responsible with the knowledge and understanding that you gain in life. This is something I learned a long time ago. And it is one of the things that I tell people when explaining why I do, or don’t do the things that I do, or don’t do out of conviction and fear and reverence of the Lord God that I serve.

Christ. That is what the whole world gets a tiny morsal of when they hear, let's say.. .."Oh Holy Night🎶" or "Silent Night" drifting though a mall store via the piped-in music channel. This happens EVEN if they may not be a Christian at all! ALSO, when the kids and/or adults participate in a beautiful concert of carols, or The Messiah Chorus....or do a community act of extra giving at this time with many others simotaniously, how true and sweet is that🥰! When the whole world just stops during this time of the year to (at very least) hear, do, think about, and possibly reflect and be able to see this glimse; this morsal of Christ much like with the power of one mustard seed...or like a drop of water on a sweated brow, or like a drop of honey to sweeten the bitterness we all feel at times... How nice is that😊! How about when they see beautiful modest decorations and twinkling lights that give their hearts a small perk in the middle of winter, if you live in a cold climate!. Well, this is all for starters. Could we see an evergreen tree (part of God's creation) as a symbol of God's hope of renewal? of substanance? love?...and Jesus....who's love and truth is evergreen EVEN in cold "weather" and in the middle of a barron season? YES!!! And the STAR!! Oh YES , THE STAR ON TOP!! Here's the miracle...what was once only pagan...has been transformed!! Much like a person is when he or she accepts Yehoshua as their Lord and Savior. They may look the same, but he or she is not!🤗. Should we endulge and forget all I just mentioned and instead geedily seek out the most expensive gifts on the market to show off our "love"? No! Should we view Saint Nicholas (Santa Claus) as a small child's very VERY first grasp; encounter with a faith in something; someone bigger than themselves; mysterious but wonderful, who tells you to be good, who is always watching you, who checks a list (like the Lambs book of life) and who goes all over earth (onmipresent)? Well I did. I am born again and agree with much that you have shared in your videos😊 however, I have to respectfully differ on this one though. I do feel that Christmas can be an extra beautiful and happy time set aside to perhaps "give till it hurts" lol, in the right way! Can it also be terribly misused and over emphasized? Yes it can. I am also a very minimal participator in the comercialism ...which I really cannot stand! I do love Christ's mass when done right. ...no matter when he was born. Let's say you adopt an orphan in a third world country who literally does not know when he or she was born. No one actually knows the exact day of birth. So... you pick a day and give that child a special party with friends and family every year on that day. He or she looks forward to it every year and now carries the memories of that love and the thrill of happiness of that special day every year throughout his or her life! That is sweet, and beautifully right. I have to very respectfully disagree on aborting ALL of Christmas. You are refreshing in your views on many other things! May God bless you and your family! 💯🤗💖🙏🌼😊

    • @HeavenlyMindedHome
      @HeavenlyMindedHome  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I believe in scripture above all! And scripturally, I cannot reconcile the Christmas celebration with living a life for Christ. If you can- enjoy! Praise God!
No where can we see December 25th as his birthday, I find it interesting that all 4 gospels LEAVE OUT noting the exact date of his birth- mayn place of scriptures give exact days or times of Biblical festivals-- not here. So we certainly cannot place scripture to point us toward a December 25th celebration.
No where in scripture do we see ANYTHING about celebrating his birth, a remembrance at his birth, any thing of the like. Paul, Peter, John- even his own brother, James, nothing.
You know what we do see them all talking about over and over? His return. So much of modern day Christianity wants to hold on to this Christmas celebration (that is filled with things that have nothing to do with worshipping God, ie: presents, trees, decor, etc. Not saying they're bad- just saying to call it what it is-- and it's not worshipping God)- focusing on this remembering the savior being born- and, Amen. Yes, he came! Praise God for that! But what's MORE important? What the disciples couldn't stop talking about? HE'S COMING BACK!
If we all had a better understanding of that- the church would be in a much different place today. He's returning, and he's not a baby in the manger anymore. The Biblical Feasts? They're ALL about Him. The spring feasts were his first coming- all fulfilled. The fall feasts? Those are the ones TO BE fulfilled! 🙌🏼 I'd much rather spend my energy on that! But, that's just me! :)

I find myself nodding throughout the whole video. I remember when the "weaning" started for me. It was about 5 years ago, December, and I was winging it one day for homeschool. I pulled up a youtube video on the origins of Christmas and wheeeeeew. I don't think my kids really paid much attention, but for me it was like a bomb went off and I walked away with my ears ringing 😂😂😂 My kids were between the ages of 13 and 17 at the time and it was definitely challenging that year and the years that followed. Last year I finally came to a place where I told my family (kids and extended) my heart about it (and all holidays). It was hard because I am the one who hosts all the family get togethers. But it was so freeing. It was also easier to finally make the decision solid because my kids would all be grown up by the following (this) Christmas.
Well, I've been fostering my 2 year old niece and I'm now in the process of adopting and I've started praying about how to go about this. I personally feel convicted about participating in the world's days (so much nodding in agreement to your reasoning in this video because I share them). It was one thing to know how to go about it when it was just going to be me making the decision for me.
So, tonight I was writing out some things in my prayer journal and one was holidays and asking God to help me with it. I remembered you had a video about quitting Christmas and came to find it (just found your channel a few days ago! Thank you for what you do!!) This video, along with the comments, were a breath of fresh aiiiiiiiiiir ❤❤❤❤❤
This year, I had a small gathering for passover, for the first time. It was a beautiful time of worshipping Yah and a God-honoring time- even though I really had no idea what I was doing (it was last minute). With the busyness of fostering/adoption process I've not looked more into the biblical feasts. I SO want to celebrate them and I appreciate you bringing that into this video because it reminded me of that desire (I tend to forget until the time is upon me).
I have NEVER commented so much on YT 😂😂 I just felt such a sisterhood in this comment section!
    Thank you for this!

I really needed it growing up and thank God I had all the wholesome beautiful musical concerts, activities, the modest decorations my mother so lovingly put up, the Nutcracker ballet, the beautiful church activities and midnight masses..then later the protestant services. They are my best memories growing up in a cold, cold world. We were minimalists and happy with it. Baking, excitement, twinkling candles in the window...oh and that star to remind us of Bethlehem! We would make them in church together with friends and talk about the meaning!! The comercialism was bad though, never liked it....loved the Peanuts Charlie Brown special..it talked about this .

YES! We did the same thing several years ago after discovering the pagan roots of the world's holidays. Before that, however, we even bought into the "Jesus is the reason for the season" lie. There most certainly IS a spirit of Christmas and it isn't a good one, folks. As we know, anything that has pagan roots is not something holy in God's eyes. Christmas was my favorite holiday-I went all out each year for that one so it was hard to let go, but I prayed on it and God made it clear to me that He doesn't want anything pagan (unholy) connected to something as holy as the birth of Jesus Christ. Taking something holy and perverting it is not pleasing to Him. That made it crystal clear and so we gave that up also. Since then it is easy to see just how wrong Christmas really is. I'd rather please God than anyone else, worship Him instead of a tree, serve Him than a sick world that promotes a fake "holiday"(NOWHERE in the Bible does it call out Christmas as being a holy day) based on paganism, and fortified by personal and corporate greed, coveting, idol worship, materialism and lies-those are all things of Satan and have no place in a Christian's life. You can dress it up in garland, ornaments and a star; wrapping and bows; a red suit and white beard; and lie to yourself and your children that it is about Jesus, but it is all the same thing to God-an abomination.

Perfectly summed up! The more we uncover in our biblical studies the more obvious to understand and see literally "all the things of this world." We have our true Holy Calendar which honors our Sabbath on Saturday. Again, in 300AD The Roman Emporer Constantine made that change as well as he felt that he was just as righteous to rule with his laws over God's people.

What is an acceptable thing to celebrate are weddings, wedding anniversaries, and baby showers. During the holidays, I'll gather with family and try intentionally not to partake in pagan traditions. Read the Bible. Jesus said: "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

It can certainly be a matter of conviction- we certainly celebrate birthdays! I love taking a special day to give thanks to the Lord for blessing us with each of these people he's put into our lives! 🥰

I feel the same way about it and also no longer celebrate the world's "holidays" or birthdays either. I don't need to be worshipped for a day, don't like the attention and don't want/need the validation from the world. Fine for those that do it, but it's just not for me.

You are very courageous to say these things! I applaud you for looking into the Bible and questioning the issue! I have personally been called an atheist because I don’t celebrate this Roman Catholic holiday! Why? You will be denigrated for your logic but you are right! We can not be pressured to go against our conscience, if we do we condemn our selves!
Keep studying God’s word and questioning everything! Be known for being like the Bereans!

My father was a baptised Jehovah’s Witness before he met my mother, and whilst he separated from that church, a lot of his faith comes from that lense, and he was my main Christian teacher growing up. (I have not encountered anyone yet who knows the bible better than him). We have always known that Christmas was not Jesus’ birthday. The Anglican high school I went to branded me a heretic for this viewpoint despite it being a biblical fact. The lack of bible-lead teachings in the various religious denominations around me when growing up meant I separated from religion (though never my faith) until recently. I’m so glad to have found a reformist minister at my local Anglican Church. It’s not perfect, but I’m so glad to finally feel comfortable at church. Thank you for sharing on this topic. So many Jehovah’s Witness children I knew growing up struggled with the social separation that completely avoiding Christmas brought, so we do Christmas, but through the viewpoint of having a lovely time with friends and family.

I am pondering these things as I draw back from celebrating Christmas. I will learn the Biblical Holy Days & celebrate those instead. I will study Hanuka, as well. Blessings to you & your family for making this video.

My family and I reached to the same conclusion 12 years ago not to observe any holidays or birthdays or anniversaries etc. The Holy Spirit led us to more truth in our spiritual walk. We watched the series Total Onslaught by professor Dr. Veith who takes a deep dive about pagan roots in every system including sports etc. Its been a blessing to be free from man's traditions. We only celebrate God's holy day every week - Sabbath (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset). Its the only day God instituted to honor and remember because He knew we would forget. (4th commandment). Blessings

I just found your channel today. Thank you for addressing this issue.
I grew up celebrating the holidays blindly and when i grew up and started to read the Bible for myself and other Biblical scholars, it made me realize we are celebrating in a way thats soooo far from God or Biblical, I stopped Christmas cold turkey. I couldn't do it anymore!
I don't want to bring pagan rituals or possible demonic doorways into my home.
That being said, i will celebrate the wintertime as God's way of blessing the world with a time for being dormant and reflective, to rest and recooperate from the all the growth and harvesting, but that's the extent of it.
My hope is to use the "Christmas Time" to donate my time and energy to others in need who could use God's Blessings.

Jeremiah chapter 10 describes the Xmas tree perfectly and it’s called the way of the heathen and admonished to NOT learn them. I was 19 and the only Christian in my family when the Lord gave me a revelation about where Xmas traditions came from. For me… I decided I didn’t want to do what the pagans did and call it anything about worshiping or honoring my God. It’s not about even what I think of it… what does Jesus think about it?

    • @tayh.6235
      @tayh.6235 ปีที่แล้ว

That passage has literally nothing to do with a Christmas tree. You're taking Scripture horribly out of context by saying that. Please do a study on that passage from a reliable teacher.

God blessed you with a brave heart to go with what the Bible says, and going against what you have practiced going up.
It is really a blessing to be free from being a slave of pagan tradition.
Following Jesus will mean that we will be different from our families and the more we learn about the Bible, the more distant we become from our families and from traditions.
It hurts initially but when we look forward to God's promise that He will reward those who are faithful to Him, what we let go is insignificant.
