      Does this trimmer advance the line by clicking/bumping the trimmer down, into the ground? I have this trimmer and I just can't get it to advance the line. Then I thought maybe I'm old school and that's not how they advance line anymore. I can't find anything about this question -- I guess it's too obvious for everyone but me. Lol. Please help!

      juridicus it’s supposed to have a bump feed but if your line is all tangled up inside your head it might not advance

      Saw a review that complained about the trigger on newer models being too hard to activate in use compared with older ones, can't see how that could be a problem, but what's the difference in the design that would be an issue?

      @@juridicus sorry this is so long ago-hope it has been resolved for you...in addition to the comment about the string being twisted inside the head - check the way the spool in inserted...if you have it upside down it won't advance string on a straight shaft ...it goes one way for straight and flip it for a curved shaft because they rotate in opposite directions...

      Do you have any oil coming out of the exhaust? I haven’t even went through my first tank and have small drops of oil coming out of the exhaust. I’m running pre mixed tru fuel

    I love my SRM-225, I’ve been using mine for about 3 years, about 7-10 re strings per summer, and it’s been fantastic, I got it for free because the carb needed adjustment, I fixed that and have had 0 issues with this trimmer, I love how it cuts, love that it’s not too heavy and absolutely love the speed feed head.

    I've had my 225 for almost 10 years. Still working great. If you empty out the gas and run it until it dies each time you use it, it will last longer. Also, when you are going right to left is when it kicks most of it back at you. If you take a step forward and move left to right, it will kick less back at you.

    • @eugenecrabs3954
      @eugenecrabs3954 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's actually not good for the motor if you run it dry like that, just use ethanol-free gas if thats the case. When you take the lubricant away from all the rubber gaskets/seals, they become brittle and crack. Even if it gums up the carb, just remove the carb and clean it out with some brake cleaner.

    Thanks for the great videos. I love my Echo also. I liked your video on the string loading. I just needed confirmation that I was doing it right. I wasn't turning the ring one or 2 notches AFTER loading the spool so I think that was causing a problem. Thanks again.

    It’s a great trimmer. I love the Echo tune up kits with the spark plug, fuel filter, and air filter. Mine gets light use around the house, so I only need to do it every few years. These things will run forever with a little care. That’s one reason I never switched to a battery powered trimmer.

    It's all about the fuel. If you use non-ethanol gas and the Echo RedArmor 2 cycle oil it will start easier and run lots better, and you protect the carb better that way.

  • @radius8283

    Wish I bought this instead of the craftsman curve shaft. Craftsman always difficult to start, engine runs wild and the curve shaft makes the trimmer short and not ideal for tall people. I have an echo leaf blower and been in service without a single issue for eight straight years! starts right up after winter even without adding fuel stabilizers. Thanks for sharing going to home depot today!

    Just bought one used supposedly runa great. I picked it up with no gas in it it looked like it would run. And then I'll put gas in it and yeah it was wrong as soon as you throttle it dies every single time I ordered a new carburetor for it. It needs new fuel lines and then drive it to the fuel tankers not sealed any longer so if nothing else even if I didn't need a carburetor it definitely needs to fuel lines. Hopefully I can get it running. I didn't realize how much better quality echo is compared to Troy-Bilt is super low quality

    Hey bro how do you go about fueling?
    Preferably the type
    A. Pre Mixed 50:1
    B. Mix your own 50:1

    • @LowkeyLawnCare
      @LowkeyLawnCare  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Deon 0026 I always mix my own. I buy the small bottles of Echo oil that are sized to mix with a gallon of gas. I throw that in my gas container and then put a gallon of gas in from the pump.

    • @851995STARGATE
      @851995STARGATE 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gotta say using truefuel from Amazon was the best decision I made for this. I can leave it in there all winter and have no issues. Also don't use the trimmer more thab once or twice a month so mixing gas when the rest of my equipment is all four stroke is annoying. Any premixed fuels are a good option because no ethanol, there usually 93 octane or higher and they expire in 2 years when opened in most cases.

  • @docfaceful

      Home depot and some lawn & garden stores carry this trimmer. Go to those stores to see and hold the trimmer. I am 6 ft tall, and i was holding a srm 225 yesterday, and i can stand straight up without any problems with this trimmer. They also carry the curve shaft echos, so you can hold both to see which you like best.
