    I'm on my 2nd Echo SRM 225 the 1st one lasted 5 yrs & the carburetor finally tore up, I am not easy on trimmers as I did commercial mowing & trimming yrs ago. 2 cemeteries especially those trimmers have no power let down, I've cut grass down with it in places over 3 feet tall the trimmer performs like nothing I've ever had. Plus it has the easy load head I can refill the cutting head with line in 5 minutes, I have experience with Echo power equiptment. I have an Echo CS 400 chainsaw I've had for over 8 yrs that saw is what got me over to the Echo brand, the saw has went above & beyond my expectations. It is not heavy & for the size of it, has plenty of power, a 40 cc engine & an 18 inch bar & after 8 yrs it is still running great !

    Got the SRM 2100 Echo trimmer that I bought around 2003 brand new and just love it. Replaced the carb this year for $36 CAD as the old carb was not letting the trimmer rev up the way it used to and now it runs just like the day I bought it. This thing is a beast there's no slowing it down. I see Echo changed the color of it. Mine is a grey one that matches my hair color. I've got some really tough weeding to do way worst than what I saw you doing here and this thing just destroys all of it easily without slowing down. Maybe I'll get another 20 years out of it if I live that long? Excellent video keep up the good work....

    Hey there Jay, Looks like the trimmer is doing a good job. I have a Stihl and it does good too. I do have an Echo backpack blower I got about 9 years ago and have not had no trouble with it at all. It has plenty of power. I finally purchased the Echo 490 chainsaw Friday night from Home Depot. Haven't started it yet, probably break it in this afternoon. I looked it over good and that saw looked great! I did loosen the chain a little, it was way too tight, but it looked like it was built good. Well, catch you later.

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bruce! Thanks for coming by again! Glad you got your 490!! Hope she runs great. My advice is change the chain out for the Oregon chain I ran in EP 35 it will make the saw come alive! Second this is run non ethanol gas in it! Find a service station that sells non ethanol fuel if you can. Third thing is check under the air filter housing there is a “winter mode” and a “summer mode” for the intake. It’s just a white little gate that all you need to do is put on the correct setting. Since it’s warm out you need the sun setting or summer mode. Don’t forget that! I’d run about half a tank through at less than half throttle for break in too! Hope all this helps! I think my next purchase is a backpack echo blower, glad to know you had good luck with them so we’ll see! As always thanks for watching Bruce I appreciate it!

      @1811bruce 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomesteadJay OK, Jay, I understand all of what you said and that is what I will do. I have a store about 4 miles down the road that carries the non ethanol gas. I switched everything over to that about 2 years ago including my boats! When would you do the muffler modification? I am going to change the chain out. Home Depot was out of them but I can get one local. Have a great day!

    • @pto200
      @pto200 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HomesteadJay Hey Jay, I think electric is the way to go. About the same weight and balance as a gas but a lot quieter. Battery lasts for an hour of cutting.
      It's all in in what we like I guess

    I have an Echo SRM 225 for 4 years now, and I am completely satisfied with it. Lots of power, it's light and maneuverable, and it cuts great. When I am using it away from the house, I stick a 20' coil of line in a sandwich bag in my pocket or truck so I can put line in it if it runs out. I've used ethanol free gas in it since day one, I took the spark arrester screen out this year just to look at it and it was clean. Working on it is pretty easy too. I like it! Is yours holding up after all this time?

    This trimmer looks to have good power in it! Enough to throw rocks! Too bad for the cover, but I guess the camera is still good. I've sent some good sparks from grinding toward my camera. I later found a tiny spot where the lens melted! Not bad unless I have the sun toward the lens. How would you describe the advantage of a straight shaft? I have a curved FS35 Stihl trimmer. I feel the shaft is too short. Thanks Jay!

    • @HomesteadJay

      Joe sorry to get back to you so late! I just saw this comment it must have gotten lost in translation! I love the straight shaft, all the ones ive had been curved but this is my first straight shaft and I feel its more direct power! I have a new (exchanged) Go Pro coming tomorrow so ill be back on making videos! I do love this trimmer the more I use it the better it runs!

    Hi,
    I'm in the market for a gas trimmer. Initially I was considering breaking the bank and going with a Stihl. But, the dealer informed me the warranty is only 1 year, 2 if I purchase from them synthetic fuel mixture. I already have a couple of cans of Trufluel. I checked out the Echo 225 at Home Depot. For non-commercial use, the warranty is 5 years. Now warranty can be fuel of loop holes. I noticed no one spoke of the warranty service for the Echo. Does anyone have experience with Echo customer service and warranty repair?

    If you're taking your trimmer out to knock down as much as you did, you might as well call yourself a professional. The ECHO catch phrase is, "ask any professional " and now you have one in your hands.
    I have the SRM 225i, purchased it in 2015 brand new and still run it today. I do grounds keeping at a campground and prefer to take that to work with me over using the STIHL FS91 that is provided. I have over 500 hours, probably closer to 1000 on that little 21.2 and if you know that machine, it will start on the 3rd pull, cold, every time. The "i" in the name is the pull mech itself. Mine will almost start on a rewind and isn't much of a "pull" at all, just drop it and the weight of the machine starts itself.

    • @HomesteadJay

      Echo makes a solid machine indeed! Glad you have had goodluck! I love the quick feed head its so much easier than the typical take off and physically wrap around! Thanks for sharing your success!
