Nice Video! I am a owner of a 2018 S1000R and my resume for the first year on it is: great bike, nearly perfect, with absolutely enough power and a feeling like a mountain-bike. The elctronic chassis is wunderful, also the helpers like traction-control, blipper, cruise-control, heat-grips and so on. What i also like is my Speed Triple (2013). Ok, not so much power and only abs, but the punch from the lowest rotation is fantastic till today. A great bike from England! Many greetings from Germany.
Sorry for the random reply, I was just scrolling after watching and saw this... So given youve ridden the S1000R and Speed Triple, if you could have an S1000R or the new speed triple rs, what would you pick? I'm in the market and am stuck between the two
tons of people are saying something along the lines of, if you didn't like it, you're not riding it properly. well, that's the whole point of personal opinion. i think he said it perfectly well in the video... it's just not his cup of tea. he likes the power to be more down low, like a street fighter is supposed to be, not up high like a sport bike. and maybe half a dozen other reasons that aren't easy to explain or even understand. just a feeling that it's not exciting for him. and that's perfectly fine with me. if he's not riding it properly, then it's not the bike for him. someone who is willing to ride it properly is who the designers are targeting. if you're an experienced rider, you don't change how you ride in order to fit a bike... you find a bike you enjoy riding.
Thanks John, I do think this bike is way more sportsbike than streetfighter. It seems to be geared really long and you have to let it wind up to get the most out of it. The problem I have is that when it gets going you're already doing silly speeds, so that just stiffles the enjoyment for me. The MT10 is the perfect bike for me, power way down low, wheelies on power all the time, I think I just about got 1 little power wheelie out of the Beemer. The Beemer is a smashing bike and very, very quick. It's just not for me. I will say this was an organised and lead ride, meaning the pace was controlled by the instructors so I couldn't really do too much. I aim to test the 2019 version when it gets a bit warmer and on my own but I doubt I'll change my opinion overall. Owners never like hearing negative comments about a bike they've invested in, so I take it with a pinch of salt. That being said, this is all just my opinion anyway! Ride safe!
Just saw a video of a 2020 S1000RR M that gained 44 HP and 30 lbs of torque between 4,000-7,000 RPM by just swapping a re-flashed ECU with the stock one. Apparently BMW purposefully Detunes the low to mid range 1000cc motor in their sport bikes big time. Top end was exactly the same with both ECU’s no gains...video link th-cam.com/video/SLUA8bot2qA/w-d-xo.html
It probably hadn't even been run in. The pace was glacial and the roads were straight. Not a great test. I have had a 2016 mode for 2 years and it's glorious.
I am sure it had been run in, either way that didn't change how I rode it. I just don't think it's what I'm looking for in a bike. Amazing performance but all reviews say the same thing and I tend to agree, it does it all a little too well and lacks character. The MT10 on the other hand......my word!
Odd video. You were very positive in the first 8 minutes - brilliant engine, quickshifter, ride quality, exhaust, screen, etc, sounded like you were having a lot of fun, loads of laughs and exclamations of delight....then you say you don't like it. Was it just the power delivery? You said 'it just doesn't excite me' but have been whooping for 80% of the vid.
Haha, well I am odd! I see your point on reflection. The engine was fun above 6'000 rpm but I just expected more from it. It did everything very well but it didn't make me want to try it again. It was a 50 min ride and I've left out a lot of footage where I'm just struggling to say anything because I didn't have anything else to say. I found that boring to watch but maybe I should have kept it in to make it more balanced. On paper, this bike is awesome but I got off just feeling like, I don't need to ride it again. I didn't feel at all scared and perhaps that's what I'm looking for from a 1000cc naked bike. Thanks for the feedback!
I did not watch after the 6th minute, but you should have tried above 8k rpm..... that will scare you...... I personally believe that is much better bike that the tuono and any KTM I rode..... (my personal feeling )
what's the circle on the dash above the digital display, to the right of the tach? it looks like it might be a gear shift indicator, but i never saw it light up.
Did you ever change out of second gear you seemed to be either accelerating or coming of the gas. You say it doesn't give you a kick or wet your pants can only mean one thing, you weren't riding it properly. I've got a BMW S1000R and if you got on the back with me riding you would sure enough get a massive kick and pies your pants !!!
It was a led ride with lots of rules. No overtaking, strictish speed limits etc. I got into 3rd once I think...... It has plenty of poke, just found it very peaky. I'm guessing you own one? I found the MT10 much more fun personally for my type of riding, I don't want to be doing triple digits everywhere!
2:12 mins in... Could tell straight away thats not the bike for you " the engine ( long pause ) .....well its got potential", just didn't float your boat thats all, horses for courses really.
Tbh all I would say is test ride it. I don't think the Ducati is in the same league on all out performance but being a twin you might find it more fun!
Taking a bike for a "spin" in this sort of circumstances and then giving others your opinion.... meh, it's like licking lollipop with it's wrapping still on it and saying "it dodn't taste at all"! Just sayin
You're not totally wrong. You do get a feel for it though and at times I did 'give it the beans' so to speak. It's an incredible bike, I just don't think it makes enough power where I want it. I'm going to get one for a couple of hours soon, unrestricted, so that should either confirm my thoughts or make me realise I was wrong.
@@Englishbikerdan I own one of those and I can tell, you will change your mind once you start operating above 9k rpm and hit the brakes when you think it's too late for anything lol I've tested MT10 and Tuono before I bought bm, can't wait to see your reviews on Aprilia and Yamaha (Touno should not be allowed on the public roads heh)
I thought you might own one! ;) I'd love to ride the Tuono but I've heard it's totally mad! The brakes on the S1000R were insanely good, never felt anything so sharp. I already have the MT10 test ride up, it was a total hoot. Just made me laugh so much. I'll get a test ride on the S1000R again soon.
@@Englishbikerdan just watched it! It looks like you have had a good fun heh :) The difference between mt and bm is electronics... on Yamaha i felt like I'm very limited all the way when on s1000r i felt supported and encuraged to push it even more further and futher. I can't wait to see your review on Factory... I had it for a half a day test from ViaMoto and that was too much! :) Quotation from my insurace company and will to keep my drivung licence stopped my from buying one of them ;) See U next time! Thumb up on this one
Hehe, yeah I really did love riding the MT10. I just felt the power was where I enjoy it more but I'll try the Beemer again. I also only had the S1000R in Road mode and perhaps I need to go into Dynamic to make it seem more aggressive? The Beemer's electronics were really great but I wonder if it makes it feel too easy to ride? Anyway, thanks for the comments, enjoy your S1000R and ride safe! EBD
It was a TEST ride, not a review. Clue is in the title. I did ask the BMW guys to show me around the bike but they said that the bikes are setup for the road and they didn't want us to change them as they were running a tight schedule.

May be the super duke r or tuono will scare you. Power on the s1000r is just too nice and friendly. Not brutal as the other 2

Well spotted. I think it must be gear change but as you can see, I never got it high enough.
yes its a gear shift indicator and u can change it to any RPM u want

good review

Thank you sir! Don't think I'll be getting one. Too fast for the road.
I definitely understand! That's how I felt after I rode a Yamaha MT-10!
Awesome bike but not for me. I don’t think I’m sensible enough. Good video mate.
EpicAdam Motovlogs Thanks dude. I'm definitely not sensible enough. I wanted to love this bike but I just couldn't. :(
Whats the top speed of S1000R?
Nice
Never test a motorcycle without going over all the riding modes it has!!!!
Agree :)
Difficult when the BMW people who organise the ride tell you not to touch them! :D
