My rope has a carabiner at the tip. I tether my gun and blind bag with it while paddling plus I tie my horse up when I get to my spot....which leads to my tip... you don't have to hunt out of the yak as I almost never do. Where I hunt I use the natural cover and hide my yak. No layouts, not mesh and no brushing in to deal with.

Tether on your paddle is a big one! Me and Thomas know this one from experience. Thank god he was there to grab it for me right at the beginning of a river jump shoot hunt.

Them all were good advice`s . I have a Jackson Big Rig it`s 37 in. across the bottom very stable also have a gun rack for my track but i also tie a shock cord to my shotgun .
I have a layout boat. Still haven't used for hunting yet but it provides alot of room for maneuverability. Just trying to find a good set of wheels to place under it so I can roll it in instead of drag. Most wont stay under the boat
